On Headline Sports with Tony R:

#1 Tony talk about the Tennessee Titans less than half of their team has Coronavirus and it looks risky to play their next scheduled game against the Buffalo Bills next Sunday.

#2 The Las Vegas Raiders were chasing the Bills last Sunday at Allegiant Stadium all for not. The Raiders shut the Bills out in the third quarter but the Bills got 13 points in the fourth quarter and a seven point win last Sunday.

#3 Tony the way you saw the Raiders quarterback Derek Carr on offense last week against the Bills he was trying to get some ground game going in the second half.

#4 Also the Dallas Cowboys have released defensive back Brandon Carr a 13 year vet. The Cowboys were looking for Carr to provide some depth to their secondary.

#5 The San Francisco 49ers quarterback Nick Mullens struggled last Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles in a 25-20 loss. 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan hasn’t decided whether to go with Mullens or back up CJ Beathard.

Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Barbara Mason: Too much Josh Allen but Raiders played a close game in seven point loss

The Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen (17) comes back to the Bills sideline after a quarterback keeper for a touchdown and is greeted by head coach Sean McDermott in the second half against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sun Oct 4, 2020 in Las Vegas (AP News photo)

On the Raiders podcast with Barbara:

#1 Barbara to start off how irresponsible are the Raiders for attending a charity event last week not wearing any masks and later were fined by the NFL namely tight end Darren Waller for $30,000 and quarterback Derek Carr $15,000 just to name a few.

#2 Barbara, you knew it was going to be a challenge when the Raiders were going to host the Buffalo Bills and it was a game that mostly went to the Bills.

#3 The Bills certainly got there money’s worth on offense as Bills quarterback Josh Allen threw 24-34 for 288 yards and two touchdowns.

#4 The Raiders did shutout the Bills in the third quarter one of the toughest offenses in the NFL that really speaks well to the to the Raiders defense.

#5 The Raiders behind 17-16 saw the Bills score 13 in the fourth quarter and that pretty much crushed the Raiders chances of any kind of come back losing by a touchdown 30-23.

#6 The Raiders are headed to Kansas City to face the Chiefs next Sunday. The Chiefs hosted the New England Patriots last night. The Patriots almost didn’t make the trip because of quarterback Cam Newton’s positive test but after the Patriots had negative results from their tests they made the trip.

Raiders drop second straight game in 30-23 loss to Buffalo

The Raiders lost for the first time at their new home, Allegiant Stadium, in a 30-23 defeat to the Buffalo Bills.

“I give our guys credit, we scored 23 points today,” said head coach Jon Gruden.  “You know, we played pretty good at times on offense.”

Las Vegas moved to within one point of taking the lead at 17-16 in the third quarter, but Buffalo scored 13 unanswered points to break the game open later in the second half.

Quarterback Derek Carr went 32 for 44 for 311 yards and two touchdowns, one each to Jason Witten and Nelson Agholor, but Carr was frustrated after the game.

“I’m sick of losing,” said Carr. “I’m sick of working as hard as I do and as we do and going out there and losing.  I mean, it sucks.  Enough is enough.”

Second year running back Josh Jacobs was held to just 15 carries for 48 yards, while tight end Darren Waller led in receiving, catching nine balls for 88 yards.

“I guess it is just a credit to their defense,” said Jacobs on a lackluster rushing game. “They were flying in all of the gaps.”

Waller committed a huge fumble in the Raiders’ first possession of the fourth quarter, which later led to a two yard touchdown run by Bills running back Devin Singletary to put the Bills up 14.

“My fumble was pivotal,” said Waller. “We were going down the field to take the lead and it was the turning point.”

With the loss, the Raiders fell to 2-2 on the season and will next travel to Kansas City to face the defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs on Sunday.

“If anybody has played a tougher schedule than us, tell me who has,” said Gruden. “We played Monday night against the Saints, across the country on a short week against the Patriots and the Buffalo Bills are undefeated and a playoff team. And we are not going to get any sympathy next week going to Arrowhead.”

Game Notes:

  • The Raiders outgained the Bills in total yards, 383-336.
  • The Raiders turned the ball over twice and QB Derek Carr was sacked x times.
  • Nine different Raiders players caught at least one ball from QB Derek Carr.
  • TE Darren Waller was targeted 12 times.

Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Rich Perez: Raiders will have their hands full with Bills on Sunday

The Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen (17) tries to hold back the Los Angeles Rams Aaron Donald from the pass rush but was called for a facemask penalty on this play last Sun Sep 27, 2020 at Overland Park NY. Allen threw for four touchdowns against the Rams. (AP News photo)

On the Raiders podcast with Rich:

#1 Rich, the Raiders (2-1) will be hosting the Buffalo Bills on Sunday one of the toughest teams in the NFL at 3-0. The Bills have been noted for their offense and they’ve been in some close games but quarterback Josh Allen has been able to deliver.

#2 Allen threw four touchdown passes against a very challenging Los Angeles Rams team last Sunday in a narrow three point win 35-32 do you see him operating in the same fashion against the Raiders this Sunday?

#3 On the other hand the Raiders are coming off a tough 16 point loss to the New England Patriots 36-20. The Raider defense just got held back by a very talented Patriots offensive line and it gave Patriots quarterback Cam Newton lots of time to throw.

#4 For the Raiders quarterback Derek Carr he also had time to throw he threw for two touchdowns but the key quarter of last Sunday’s game was the third quarter as the Patriots defense shut the Raiders out.

#5 As Carr and the Raiders offense draw up the playbook for this Sunday’s game who do you see them matched up against the Bills defense coming into this one?

Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Barbara Mason: Pats Newton were ready for Raiders; Raiders prepare for undefeated Bills in wk 4

In spite of being under pressure the New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton was able to get passes away completing 17 passes and a touchdown good enough to defeat the Las Vegas Raiders by 16 points Sun Sep 27, 2020 at Foxbourgh (AP News photos)

On the Raiders podcast with Barbara:

#1 Barbara unlike the previous two weeks for the Raiders after wins against the Carolina Panthers and New Orleans Saints, Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots were prepared for the Raiders last Sunday in a convincing 16 point win 36-20.

#2 Patriots quarterback Cam Newton has looked sharp in all of his appearances in week 1 and 2 he was no different throwing 17 for 28 for 162 yards throwing for one touchdown and one interception.

#3 For the Raiders offense quarterback Derek Carr had troubles trying to get the Raiders over the hump as they were shutout in the third quarter which prevented them to really get back in the game.

#4 Carr in the game threw 24 for 32 for 261 yards and two touchdowns just taking a look at Carr’s completions he was running and didn’t have time to stay in the pocket long.

#5 The Raiders task doesn’t get easier their next opponent is the 3-0 Buffalo Bills. Bill quarterback Josh Allen beat a very good Los Angeles Rams (2-1) team on Sunday in a close game 35-32. Allen threw 24-33 for 311 yards, four touchdowns and an interception. How do you see this match up next Sunday?

Raiders lose first game of the season to New England, 36-20

The Raiders simply couldn’t overcome mistakes as they fell to the New England Patriots, 36-20, at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA.

The Raiders fumbled the ball away three times and couldn’t convert multiple times in the redzone.

“There are some issues that add up to a loss,” said head coach Jon Gruden.  “I am proud of our team for fighting and I like the effort.”

Las Vegas kept the game close in the first half, trailing just 13-10 at halftime, but the Patriots rolled off 23 points in the second half.

“We came in at halftime and we felt good, but coming out, obviously it got away from us,” said quarterback Derek Carr.

Carr threw for 261 yards and two touchdowns, one each to wide receiver Hunter Renfrow and tight end Foster Moreau.

“I like our team,” said Gruden.  “We are a young team, but we do not lack confidence.”

“We are always confident,” said Carr.  “We didn’t play our best game, but we made it a game.”

Josh Jacobs led the Raiders on the ground, rushing 16 times for 71 yards.

“We had a couple of drives where we moved the ball very well,” said Jacobs.  “We have to just work on redzone execution and try not to beat ourselves in certain situations.”

With the loss, the Raiders fell to 2-1 on the season and will next return home to face the Buffalo Bills on Sunday at Allegiant Stadium.

Game Notes:

  • The Raiders were outgained in total yards, 406-375.
  • Tight end Darren Waller was held to just two catches for nine yards.
  • Nine different Raiders players caught at least one ball from QB Derek Carr.

Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Rich Perez: How Raiders stack up against mobile Newton and the Patriots this Sunday

New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton (1) on the sidelines watch last Sun Sep 27, 2020 game against the Seattle Seahawks in Seattle will match up against the Las Vegas Raiders this Sunday in Foxborough (AP News photo)

Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Rich Perez:

#1 Rich, after taking a look at the Raiders these past two games how much credit do you have to give them for holding off such offenses like the Carolina Panthers in week one and the New Orleans Saints in week two?

#2 The win against the Saints no doubt has to be one of the big moments in the young season the Raiders opening up their new stadium and just about surprising everybody with they way they won that game on Monday Night Football.

#3 How do you stop a quarterback like Drew Brees the Raiders seemed to have figured him out in that third quarter shutting out the Saints and Brees who just has problems finding daylight and finding receivers.

#4 Rich, take a look at Raiders quarterback Derek Carr’s stats he went 28 for 38 for 284 yards for three touchdowns he was getting great protection and lots of time to throw against the Saints pass rush.

#5 The Raiders are in New England for week 3 against Patriots, quarterback Cam Newton, and general manager and head coach Bill Belichick will Raiders head coach Jon Gruden have a well prepared game plan to beat a 2-0 Patriots team?

#1 A close game for the New England Patriots against the Seattle Seahawks last Sunday in a five point loss 35-30. The Pats even made a valiant comeback scoring 13 points on the Seahawks in the closing moments of the fourth quarter.

#2 The Patriots Cam Newton despite the loss is the quarterback that his teammates have full faith in the Patriots now 1-1 saw Newton throw 30-44 for 397 yards with an interception and one touchdown.

#3 The Las Vegas Raiders are coming of a huge 34-24 win over the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football and play the Patriots on Sunday. Seeing how Newton has thrown against teams like the Miami Dolphins and the Seahawks how do you see him matching up against the Raiders this Sunday?

#4 In five of the last nine games the Quakes have given up five or more goals per game which a MLS record for most goals given up by a team in five games or more what does that say about the team and their defense.

On Headline Sports podcast with Tony R:

#1 Tony, how surprised were you that the Las Vegas Raiders had gone on a 2-0 start was it a matter of getting the lucky breaks or they are good as they look?

#2 Talk about Raiders quarterback Derek Carr on Monday Night Football he threw  28 for 38 for 282 yards for three touchdowns against a very good Saints team.

#3 The San Francisco 49ers have a vast number of injuries Jimmy Garoppolo QB (ankle), Nick Bosa DE (knee), Solomon Thomas DT (knee ACL), Tevin Coleman RB (knee) and Raheem Mostert RB (knee). They just got by the Jets last week and face the Giants Sunday will they be ready?

#4 The Oakland A’s are headed to a three game wild card series they won the AL West and unlike last year’s wild card when they hosted the Tampa Bay Rays for just one game and were one and done they get a possible three game series out of the first round of these MLB playoffs.

#5 The San Francisco Giants who defeated the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday night 5-2 are tied with the Milwaukee Brewers for the last and final eighth spot in the NL Wild Card Standings which means every game until the end of the day Sunday count for a lot for the Giants to get in the playoffs.

Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Barbara Mason: Raiders winning their first home game is what’s staying in Vegas

The Las Vegas Raiders tight end Darren Waller (83) is grabbed around the right ankle by New Orleans Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore (23) in the first half on Monday Night Football at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas (AP News photo)

On the LV Raiders podcast with Barbara:

#1 The Las Vegas Raiders is a name that’s going to take a little getting used to saying, but also winning their first two games of the season is something Raiders head coach Jon Gruden can get used to real quick as the Raiders win in their inaugural game at Allegiant Stadium on Monday Night Football 34-24.

#2 The Raiders converted five out of seven third downs in the first half and forced a half time tie with the Saints at 17-17 and gained some confidence coming out of the locker room at the half.

#3 The second half the Raiders held the Saints to no scores in the third quarter. Quarterback Drew Brees looked like he was running for day light to find a receiver and just came up empty.

#4 Talk about the Raiders hosting this first game at their new digs particularly with no fans did this give them more time to focus on the Saints, did the new building help influence the game for the Raiders?

#5 The Raiders at 2-0 head to New England for their next game against the Patriots who are coming off a tough 35-30 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. How do you see this match up in New England.
