#1 According to reports saying that San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York was in Australia but did not go to the Rams-49ers opener in Melbourne according to sources. It was also reported that York is staying away from the team as to not cause a distraction after being arrested in Ohio for solicitation which was reduced to an disorderly conduct. Beat writers who made the trip said they didn’t say York but if he was on the trip and hiding from the public they said that would be even weirder.

#2 The San Francisco 49ers signed veteran wide receiver Brandin Cooks to their practice squad. Cook will be 33 years old on Fri Sep 25 played for the New Orleans Saints and the Buffalo Bills and caught 24 passes for 279 yards. The 49ers are trying to pad their wide receiver core in the event Cooks is needed due to an injury.

#3 Brock Purdy dominated the Miami Dolphins last Sunday at Levis Stadium with 20-22 attempts, 287 yards and two touchdowns and had a 149.1 rating. Compared to the game against the Los Angeles Rams Purdy had more targets to throw to against the Miami defense.

Las Vegas Raiders podcast Rich Perez: Cousins becomes 15th QB to throw 301st career TD pass as Raiders defeat Dolphins 27-13

Las Vegas Raiders podcast Rich Perez:

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Kirk Cousins delivered in a big way throwing his 301st career touchdown pass puting himself as the 15th quarterback in NFL history to do so as the Raiders defeated the Miami Dolphins at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas 27-13 for win number one of the 2026 season.

Cousins threw two touchdown passes to running back Ashton Jeanty who had quite a day himself rushing for 102 yards and had six receptions adding 45 more yards to his total. Jeanty who suffered an ankle injury August 23 had no pain and ran like he never missed a step.

This was Cousins first start since being traded to the Raiders in the off season from the Atlanta Falcons. Cousins came right out of the shoot throwing a touchdown pass in each of the first and second quarters and leading the Raiders to a 17-6 half time lead which set the tone for the rest of the game.

Cousins finished the contest with 21 for 30 passes for 160 yards for three touchdowns and was intercepted two times. With Cousins 301st touchdown pass he now moves into 14th place eclipsing former Denver Bronco quarterback John Elway.

Up next for the Raiders they start a two game road trip in week 2 Sep 20th against the Los Angeles Chargers and week 3 against the New Orleans Saints Sep 27th. The Chargers lost Sunday 26-14 to the Arizona Cardinals at SoFi Stadium the Chargers and head coach Jim Harbaugh continue to struggle.

The Saints lost by one point 31-30 to the Detroit Lions at Ford Field in Detroit. The Saints look like a ready for showtime team week 3 in New Orleans could be a handful for the silver and black.

49ers Finished For 2024 Post Season Birth Losing To Dolphins 29-17

With not much left to play for other than pride, the San Francisco 49ers (6-9) took on the Miami Dolphins (7-8) on the road. The game was riddled with mistakes between two teams that had next to no chance for a wild card.

The Dolphins came out on top winning this game 29-17. Miami is still alive but barely breathing and the 49ers are finished for the season. San Francisco struggled throughout the game and capped it off with a Jake Moody, chip shot that missed, field goal in the third quarter. This was just how it went for the Niners in the 2024 season.

Game recap: The first quarter was a defensive battle throughout. The Dolphins finally got up on the scoreboard in the latter minutes of the opening quarter taking a 3-0 lead. Miami’s Jason Sanders kicked a 44 yard field goal to give the Dolphins the lead going into the second quarter. Neither team was able to generate much offense in the first quarter.

Both teams got some much improved offensive effort in the second quarter. Both teams scored a touchdown coupled with a field goal. San Francisco had the first touchdown of the game at 14:14. Quarterback Brock Purdy found Deebo Samuel for 16 yards, not only scoring the touchdown but taking the lead away from Miami 7-3.

The Dolphins Jason Sanders kicked a 38 yard field goal getting within one point 6-7. As the clock began to wind down on the half, Miami scored a Tua Tagovailoa to Tyreek Hill touchdown and the Dolphins were back in front 13-7. San Francisco’s Jake Moody kicked a 21 yard field goal with 1:36 left on the clock trailing at the half 13-10.

The third quarter show-cased two teams that had next to nothing to play for but pride. San Francisco did not score in the entire third quarter. The Dolphins were able to muster a couple of field goals taking a 19-10 lead. Miami’s Sanders kicked a 54 yard field goal at 10:57 and a second one at 1:08 for 33 yards to close out the quarter.

San Francisco put together a nice drive to open the fourth quarter. Brock Purdy found De’Von Achane for a couple of yards pulling to within two points 17-19. Miami took over for the reminder of the quarter scoring a 48 yard field goal followed by a spectacular De’Von Achane 50 yard rush for the game’s final touchdown at 1:36. The final was 29-17 in favor of the Dolphins. Miami’s kicker was perfect all day with five successful field goals.

Brock Purdy finished the game with two touchdowns and 313 passing yards. The Dolphins stuffed their rushing game only allowing 81 total yards. George Kittle had the high in receptions with 106 yards and eight catches.

Game notes: Going into week 16 of the 2024 NFL season the 49ers’ (6-9) chances for a wild card had sunk to a 1% chance and that is with a lot of help. Sunday they played another team with close to their record the Miami Dolphins (7-8) also struggling this season.

Both teams have struggled with injury throughout the season which can certainly make or break a successful run. Playing in Miami, the Dolphins were favored and won this game. The Dolphins still have an outside chance at a playoff berth but their chances are pretty slim albeit not as dismal as San Francisco’s next to none chances.

It has just been a horrible season for the San Francisco 49ers, a team that is crowded with undeniable talent but what could go wrong for a team did indeed go wrong for San Francisco this year. It has been disappointment after disappointment; they just couldn’t catch a break. With just two games left in the season they will took the field and played ball trying to continue to proudly uphold the franchise they represent with dignity and pride but it was just too much Miami Sunday for the loss.

Neither team has had a great season this year and this game was pretty even. Miami amassed 381 yards to 374 for San Francisco. The Dolphins came away without a single turnover and San Francisco gave up an interception.

Miami had 22 first downs and San Francisco had 20. This game was played on pretty even terms and San Francisco came up short. What the future holds for San Francisco from the players all the way up to the coaching staff remains to be seen as they go into the off season. There will no doubt be a lot of changes down the pike for the San Francisco 49ers.

#1 The Las Vegas Raiders (2-8) just couldn’t get any scoring going in all four quarters and not enough to stay in step with the Miami Dolphins (4-6) getting beat 34-19 dropping their sixth straight game at Hard Rock Cafe in Miami.

#2 The Raiders with this loss have given up 75 points in their last two games 34 points Sunday against the Dolphins and last week 41 points to the Cincinnati Bengals. The defense has to be exhausted and the offense is giving up to many fourth downs.

#3 Tony the fourth quarter Sunday really ate up the Raiders defense the Dolphins were unstoppable scoring 17 points to putting much put this game out of reach with the Dolphins De’Von Achane carrying for two yards for a touchdown at 10:37, Jonnu Smith at 3:19 caught a 57 yard pass to make it 31-19 and at Miami kicker Jason Sanders booted a 46 yard field goal at 1:55 for the 34-19 final.

#4 Raiders quarterback Gardner Minshew continues to get frustrated and just couldn’t convert enough scoring to catch the Dolphins. Minshew 30-43 for 280 yards and two touchdowns. Minshew was having trouble staying in the pocket and getting protection.

#5 Up next for the Raiders the Denver Broncos (6-5) at Allegiant Stadium next Sunday for a 1:05pm PST kickoff against the Denver Broncos and quarterback Bo Nix. The Broncos have been hovering around .500 and played the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. Can you see the offensive line recovering for the Raiders and being able to hold the Broncos pass rush so that Minshew could get some time to pass the ball?
