The San Jose Earthquakes were back on the road on Saturday, as they visited Houston, Texas to face off against the Houston Dynamo.

All-in-all it was a fairly uneventful 0-0 draw that saw the Dynamo fail to record a shot on target throughout the night. The Earthquakes on the other hand, failed to get a ball past the Dynamo’s goalkeeper, Jonathan Bond. They did register four shots on target though, which were courtesy of Ousseni Bouda, Reid Roberts, Nick Fernandez, and the debuting Eduard Löwen.

On the bright side for the Earthquakes, Angus Gunn recorded his first clean sheet in the MLS, although that’s mainly credited to the defense in front of him, as he wasn’t forced to make a single save.

In less than ideal news, the Earthquakes have now gone seven-straight games without a win, although they’ll certainly be happy to have at least picked up a single point to keep their playoff push heading in the right direction.

Statistically, the Earthquakes likely deserved the win considering they led in possession, had 525 total passes with an 88.2% accuracy rate, and finished with an expected goals of 1.4.

The Earthquakes’ attention now turns to another Texas team, as they’ll visit Austin FC next weekend to conclude their Lone Star road trip.
