The San Jose Earthquakes looked to continue their hot start to the MLS season on Saturday morning as they visited Toronto F.C. north of the border forcing a 1-1 draw at BMO Stadium in Toronto.

Toronto didn’t wait long to put pressure on the Earthquakes, as Daniel Salloi was able to beat the Earthquakes goalkeeper, Daniel, with a shot from inside the box less than two minutes into the game.

Preston Judd scored his seventh goal of the season for the Earthquakes in the 14th minute to even things up at a goal apiece. Beau Leroux was shown the first yellow card of the afternoon in the 17th minute. Ronaldo Vieira was shown a yellow card in the 37th minute after a challenge from behind.

The game remained tied 1-1 heading into the halftime break.

Niko Tsakiris left the game in the 54th minute with an apparent injury. Nick Fernandez entered the game in his place.

The Earthquakes got away with an apparent handball in the 62nd minute, but there was no review and play continued. Judd nearly scored a second goal in the 65th minute, but the play was immediately called offside.

Toronto thought they took a lead in the dying moments of the game, but a sliding Reid Roberts kept the ball from crossing the goal line, keeping the game tied at a goal a piece. The play was reviewed, but the call was confirmed that there was no goal on the play.

Despite an abundance of scoring chances by both sides, neither team could break the deadlock and it would end in a 1-1 tie.

The Earthquakes will return home next weekend Sat May 9th as they take on the Vancouver Whitecaps.
