Las Vegas Raiders podcast Tony Renteria: Can Raiders take advantage of a Daniels-less Commanders team this Sunday?

Geno Smith quarterback (7) Las Vegas Raiders fires a pass up the middle against the Los Angeles Chargers defense at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Monday Night Football Sep 15, 2025 (AP News photo)

Las Vegas Raiders podcast Tony Renteria:

#1 Las Vegas Raiders (1-1) co owner and former New England Patriots great Tom Brady was in the coaching booth for the Raiders as hard as Brady strategized the Raiders took a tough loss on their home field to the Los Angeles Chargers (2-0) at Allegiant Stadium 20-9 in week 3 of the NFL season.

#2 Tony, Brady before the game as a co-owner and a former player you just never get away from that player mentality and passion he certainly wants to be involved in the game.

#3 The Chargers in the first quarter score ten points and got a touchdown from Kennan Allen who caught a ten yard pass from quarterback Justin Herbert with 20 seconds left in the quarter making 10-3.

#4 Second quarter Chargers added another touchdown when Quentin Johnston caught a 60 yard pass from Hebert and the Chargers after the first half had a 17-6 lead.

#5 Second half in the third quarter the Chargers got a field goal from Cameron Dicker a 20 yarder and the Raiders would get a field goal a 37 yarder by Daniel Carlson in the fourth quarter so both defenses pretty much shut it down but the Raiders couldn’t pass the Chargers getting their first loss of the seaon.

#6 This Sunday Sep 21 the Raiders face the Washington Commanders who are 1-1 and lost their last game Thu Sep 11 to the Green Bay Packers 27-18. The Commanders crushed the New York Giants in week 1 in Washington 21-6. How do you see these two teams matching up this Sunday in Washington?

The parade was called off due to a shooting at Union Station near a garage that injured 22 and killed Lisa Lopez Galvan.

#3 Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker is facing more allegations of sexually inappropriate behavior with three massage therapists who have accused him of misconduct. There a total of nine massage therapists that have accused Tucker of inappropriate behavior. The timeline of these accusations were from 2012-2016.

Headline Sports podcast with Charlie O: Commanders shock football world knocking out Lions; SF Giants working on getting Jays Guerrero Jr in 3 player deal; plus more news

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels (5) is on the way with a keeper runs past the Detroit Lions defensive end Levi Onwuzurlike (91) in the second half in the NFC Divisional game at Ford Field in Detroit Sat Jan 18, 2025 (AP News photo)

On Headline Sports podcast with Charlie O:

#1 Charlie O, are the Washington Commanders that underdog, under rated team and going through their post season portfolio, they won their first round of the playoff game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers back on Dec 29th in overtime and advanced to face the Detroit Lions on Saturday night. The Commanders shocked not only the nation’s capital but the country with a shocking 45-31 win over the Super Bowl favored Detroit Lions. With the loss the Lions will not appear in the Super Bowl for 59 seasons.

# 2 The Kansas City Chiefs have never lost a AFC Divisional game and the Houston Texans have never won one. The case was the same on Saturday afternoon at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw to Travis Kelce seven times for 117 yards and and a touchdown as the Chiefs took out the Texans 23-14 to advance to the AFC Championship.

#3 Las Vegas Raiders minority owner Tom Brady is said to be courting Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson to be the front runner for the head coaching opening at the Raiders. There is very little doubt that Brady and other NFL teams will be reaching out to Johnson knowing the success he’s had with the Lions offense.

#4 The San Francisco Giants are rumored to be working a three player blockbuster deal to obtain Toronto Blue Jays star Vladimir Guerrero Jr. for reliever Camilo Doval, infielder/outfielder Marco Luciano, and outfielder James Tibbs III. The Jays have not been able to seal a deal with Guerrero and the Giants are said to be willing to break the bank and spend $333 to $426 million to get Guerrero who might be San Francisco’s ticket to get to the post season.

#5 The Athletics are hoping to develop Japanese 18 year old two way player Shotaro Morii and were able to bypass the Japanese professional league getting Morii for a minor league signing bonus of $1,510,500. Morii will become the sixth A’s Japanese player and the fifth Japanese born player joining Shintaro Fujinami, Hideki Okajima, Hideki Okjima, Akinori Iwamura, Keiichi Yabu, Hideki Matsui and American Born Japanese catcher Kurt Suzuki.

On Headline Sports podcast with Jessica Kwong:

#1 The New York Jets Aaron Rogers still has it he threw four touchdown passes against the Miami Dolphins in a 32-20 on Sunday. Some had doubted Rogers ability to return but he turned it up a notch against a playoff bound team.

#2 After losing six straight games the Tennessee Titans have clinched for a shot at the No.1 NFL draft pick a quarterback. The Titans benched their starter Will Levis and can choose either one of the top college quarterbacks Colorado Buffaloes Shedeur Sanders or Miami’s Cam Ward that they can acquire in a draft or a trade.

#3 The New York Giants win last week over the Indianapolis Colts 45-33 on Sun Dec 29th cost the Giants a shot at the No.1 draft pick. With the win the Giants moved into third place at a shot for the top pick. The Giants could try and trade for Rogers if Rogers wants to stay in the number media market and play for the Giants who struggled all season.

#4 The Las Vegas Raiders after losing ten straight games and won two straight lost their chance at the No.1 draft pick slipping to six place in the top sweepstakes lottery. The Raiders are looking for a quarterback Minority owner and Super Bowl Champion Tom Brady who has a great relationship with Rogers might try and entice Rogers to consider coming to Vegas and continue his career there.

#5 The Indianapolis Colts who drafted quarterback Anthony Richardson as their overall fourth pick in 2023 has not been the kind of quarterback that they expected. The Colts have not been in the post season since 2020. They also fell short in 2021 when they went 9-8 with quarterback Carson Wentz and were no better in 2022 going 4-12-1 with quarterback Matt Ryan . The Colts are hoping that Rogers will consider coming to Indianapolis and help Richardson with some tips to help improve for the 2025 season.

That’s Amaury News and Commentary: Sports Illustrated another victim in Sports Journalism

Sports Illustrated cover of former Los Angeles Angels pitcher Shohei Ohtani as Sports Illustrated has laid off writers, editors, and supports staff due to budget cuts (Sports Illustrated cover)

That’s Amaury News and Commentary

By Amaury Pi-González

Between video games, cellular telephones, streaming services, podcasts, and the internet and now Artificial Intelligence, it was not surprising that Sports Illustrated’s recent layoffs have shaken the 70-year-old sports magazine and, in a way, the sports publishing world.

The best-selling issue of all time for SI was not a cover of Michael Jordan, Tom Brady, Lebron James, or Shohei Ohtani. In 1989, the 25th-anniversary edition of SI featuring Kathy Ireland on the cover was the best-selling ever.

The country has changed since the 1980s and 1990s; heck, it has changed since the 2000s, when Colin Kaepernick took a knee, and all of a sudden, we were talking politics over sports, which is never a good idea because most people who buy SI could care less of your political leanings or affiliation. But in the significantly changing world we are living in, other things are coming that influence journalists, including sports journalism,

Artificial intelligence, also known as AI, has revolutionized many sports, including team practices, competition, and communication. It is still early, but AI is already inside our media, mainly based on audience preferences. AI can put out a quote by a person (voice) impersonating somebody else, which will sound like it is the natural person…but it is not. It will “aid” news, fact-checking and content.

The Sports Illustrated cover that once defined sports does not anymore, according to the oldest daily-publishing newspaper in the United States, the New York Post, which has an editorial that explains why Sports Illustrated’s future comes down to a high-stakes game of chicken between the iconic magazine’s billionaire overlords.

Sports Illustrated gutted most of their staff this past week, and their future is unknown. SI might survive, but they might not.

–My recommendation to SI, for whatever is worth: Why not publish a future cover of Air Force Officer Second LT Madison Marsh, who was the first active-duty service member to win the Miss America competition? The 22-year-old beauty graduated from the Air Force Academy last year with a degree in physics. So it is not sports? But Miss America is still a fierce competition, and after all, what does Sports Illustrated have to lose?
