San Francisco 49ers podcast with Joe Hawkes: 49ers hope to snap losing streak in LA Nov 29th

Flashback: San Francisco 49ers quarterback Nick Mullens getting ready to toss one in the snow against the Seattle Seahawks at Century Link Field on Sun Dec 16, 2018 (AP News photo)

On the 49ers podcast with J Hawkes:

#1 The San Francisco 49ers (4-6) have a very welcomed bye this Sunday Nov 22 after losing three straight weeks.

#2 In the last game in New Orleans 49ers quarterback Nick Mullens just couldn’t get enough scoring to get by the Saints. Mullens line read 247 yards passing, one touchdown, and two interceptions.

#3 Mullens no doubt one of the 49ers hardest working players right now but with so many injuries it make it hard to catch up and win games.

#4 Another problem on offense the 49ers only got a field goal in the second half in New Orleans and couldn’t execute in the red zone.

#5 The 49ers are in Los Angeles against the Rams (6-3) on Sun Nov 29th. The Rams are now second in the NFL West and have won four of their last six games. They lost to the 49ers 24-16 on Oct 18th in their last meeting.

Sacramento Kings had a big draft night

By Ana Kieu

The NBA Draft started on Wednesday night, and the Sacramento Kings had a big night. The Kings had their first and second round draft picks as well as the 35th pick and the 52nd pick, thanks to a three-team trade between the Kings, Houston Rockets, and Cleveland Cavaliers by the 2019 trade deadline,

With the 12th pick, Sacramento selected Tyrese Haliburton. Haliburton is a point guard who played at Iowa State University from 2018 to 2020. He was most recently named to the Second Team All-Big 12.

Haliburton told ESPN: “I’m in the perfect spot.”

ESPN Front Office Insider Bobby Marks shared his praise for the Kings’ 12th pick. Marks said: “In my 25 years working in the NBA, [Haliburton’s] the best interview I’ve ever gone through.”

The Kings traded their 35th pick to the Memphis Grizzlies for the 40th pick and a future second round pick.

With the 40th pick, Sacramento selected Robert Woodard II. Woodard is a guard and forward who played at Mississippi State University from 2018 to 2020.

With the 43rd pick, Sacramento selected Jahmi’us Ramsey. Ramsey is a guard who played at Texas Tech University from 2019 to 2020.

Nobody is sure that the Kings will get out of dysfunction this coming season, but these three picks are promising. Also, Sacramento has to consider changing their team’s culture.

Golden State Warriors podcast with David Zizmor: With Thompson injured Wiseman will have to step up

Memphis’ James Wiseman (32) takes a jump shot over the Oregon Ducks Will Richardson (0) and Payton Pritchard (right) in Portland on Nov 18, 2019 will be joining the Golden State Warriors this season (AP News file photo)

Golden State Warriors podcast with David:

#1 Klay Thompson tore his achilles in practice on Wednesday and will getting an MRI today. Reports say the injury is significant and you may recall former Warrior Kevin Durant who tore his achilles in his last game with Golden State. How much of an impact will losing Thompson be for Golden State going into the season.

#2 After the Warriors selection of the NBA number two draft pick of 19 year James Wiseman will he be filling a void as they lose Thompson for the season. Will Wiseman be expected to step up after the Thompson season ending injury.

#3 San Francisco officials are already telling the Warriors that having fans coming into the Chase Center will not happen. With the spike way up, the Warriors were hoping to have fans return limited to 9,000 but the City said it’s just too risky and social distancing would be a huge concern.

Stanford Cardinal Football podcast with Jerry Feitelberg: Struggling Stanford hosts Washington State in bid for first win of the season

Stanford Cardinal head coach David Shaw runs off the field after a loss to the Oregon Ducks on Sat Nov 7, 2020. The Cardinal prepare for the Washington State Cougars for this Sat Nov 21st at Stanford Stadium (AP file photo)

On the Stanford Cardinal podcast with Jerry F:

#1 The Stanford Cardinal (0-2) played a razor close game last Saturday for their home opener losing 35-32 against the Colorado Buffaloes in spite of the Cardinal scoring 16 points in the fourth quarter they still fell short.

#2 Cardinal quarterback Davis Mills had a quarterback keeper, worked hard throwing for 327 yards in 31 for 56 passes.

#3 The Buffaloes (2-0) running back Jarek Broussard carried for 121 yards that helped give Colorado good field position on offense and running back Sam Noyer who carried for only 36 yards and scored two touchdowns helped the offense.

#4 Likewise for the Cardinal they got their scoring mostly on the ground with running back Austin Jones and Mills who carried in for a touchdown each. Jerry do you see Mills and the Cardinal going to the ground game again against Washington State?

#5 Washington State Cougars (1-1) come to Stanford after a tough loss last Saturday 43-29 to the Oregon Ducks the Cougars did win the week before in their opener against the Oregon State Beavers (0-2) 38-28. Jerry set this game up between Wazzu and Stanford for this Saturday.

Headline Sports podcast with Tony Renteria: Cano’s career could be toast after second PED’s suspension; 7 Raiders come down with positive Covid-19 test; plus more

New York Mets Robinson (24) Cano greets J.D. Davis (28) after hitting a home run during their game on August 17, 2020 against the Miami Marlins (AP News file photo)

On Headline Sports podcast with Tony R:

#1 Tony the New York Mets second baseman Robinson Cano who was suspended on Wednesday for coming up positive for PEDs may not be back with the Mets. This is Robinson’s second suspension for PED use.

#2 Cano was considered a Hall of Fame candidate who was just 376 hits away from reaching a career total of 3,000 most likely will never see that plateau and no team may pick him up because of his steroid use and suspensions.

#3 Tony tell us about the Las Vegas Raiders here they go again seven players go on the Covid-19 list, saftey Jonathan Abram, defensive tackles Maliek Collins, Johnathan Hankins, Kendal Vickers, defensive end Arden Key, cornerback Isaiah Johnson, and defensive end David Irving from the practice squad. Tony how will the absence of these seven players impact the Raiders going into Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

#4 The Raiders had a success in the ground game in their last game against the Broncos could they get that same satisfaction against the Chiefs this coming Sunday at Allegiant Stadium? The Raiders are the only team in the NFL to beat the Chiefs so far this season.

#5 The Sacramento Kings Bogdan Bogdanovic will enter restricted free agency after a deal that would have been a trade and sign deal fell though that would have sent him to the Milwaukee Bucks. The Kings and Bucks did have an agreement but the Bucks were able to acquire Jrue Holiday from the New Orleans Hornets as the Bucks were looking for someone that could compliment Giannis Antetokounmpo on offense. Will Kings still try and deal Bogdanovic somewhere else or will the Kings work on trying to keep him.

That’s Amaury’s News and Commentary: Double Standard at Cooperstown?

Former Cincinnati Reds great Pete Rose poses near his statue outside of Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati is still serving a lifetime ban from Major League Baseball (file photo from WLWT 700 News Radio Cincinnati)

That’s Amaury News and Commentary

By Amaury Pi-González

“T’was the night before Christmas when all through the house not a creature was stirring not even a mouse, the stockings were hung by the chimney with care all the new Hall of Fame names were read with a flair, but the name of Pete Rose still was not there” -APG.2020.

The list for the 2021 first time nominees for Cooperstown is out, including those that felt short in previous years. They are still on the ballot and some like Roger Clements and Barry Bonds will probably not be elected this year. They might have to wait a few more years. But, what about Pete?

This is the time of the year for that perennial question. Why is Pete Rose not in the Hall of Fame as a player. No player alive or still playing is remotely close to Pete Rose record of 4,256 hits. The closest one, who still active is LA Angels Albert Pujols with 3,236 hits. Also active, Miguel Cabrera 2,866, Robinson Canó 2,624 ( who also was suspended for the 2021 season for PEDs), Nick Markakis 2,388 then Yadier Molina with 2,001. All of these active players are veterans towards the end of their careers; they have really no chance of getting remotely close to Pete Rose.

Gambling is the cardinal sin of baseball, and that is why Pete Rose is not in the Hall of Fame. In 1989 Major League Baseball punished Pete Rose, manager of the Cincinnati Reds for betting on baseball.

Rose accepted a settlement than includes a lifetime ban from the game. But every year when the names of the new class of Hall of Fame players that are nominated comes out, everybody debates if he should be given the chance of induction into the Hall of Fame.

Rose recently admitted to Jim Gray that he still bets on baseball. This confession is part of Jim Gray’s “Talking to Goats” FOX News special and book. As a civilian he can bet on baseball, it is legal, just visit any Casino in the United States and you probably can place a bet, or on the internet as well.

We are a betting nation. Draft Kings is a very popular Daily Fantasy Sports for Cash in baseball, the Superbowl is approaching and after March Madness tournament in Basketball. The Superbowl is the highest sports event in amount of bets. During the summer, baseball (usually 162-game schedule) allows more opportunities to bet each day.

We are also a forgiving nation. With the advances of science, i.e. DNA, people that were wrongly convicted of murder and have been serving for decades a life sentence, have been released after DNA showed that they were wrongly convicted.

Many countries around the world, if you are convicted of murder, you are executed very soon after your sentence. O.J Simpson is a free man, after his controversial ‘not guilty’ verdict, but we all know he got away with murder, he had to hire the best attorneys in the world to save his life, so there went most of what money OJ had.

Question for everybody: What is worst, Pete Rose betting on baseball or the Houston Astros cheating and winning the 2017 World Series?

Pete Rose is not going to manage or play again. To me it looks ridiculous the fact he is not in the Hall of Fame where he belongs. If we are going to be consistent with the world we are living today (this is not 1919 and the Black Sox scandal) I hope we can see Pete Rose soon, (not after he is dead) in Cooperstown. That is my opinion, you might disagree and I respect your opinion.

Stay well and stay tuned.

San Francisco 49ers podcast with David Zizmor: Brees out for 3 wks after 49ers sack; 49ers glad to get some rest for bye week as they prepare for Rams

After getting sacked by the San Francisco 49ers Kentavius Street in the second quarter New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees left the game and later was diagnosed with a collapsed right lung and bruised ribs and will be out at least three weeks (AP News photo)

San Francisco 49ers podcast with Dave:

#1 David, how welcome do you see this bye week coming this Sunday for the 49ers who have been under a huge amount injuries and have now lost three straight games.

#2 Dave, even though the 49ers opened the game with a 7-0 lead over the New Orleans Saints last Sunday they just couldn’t get by them as the Saints scored 17 points in the second quarter and ten in the fourth just enough for the 27-13 and considering they lost quarterback Drew Brees in the second half.

#3 The 49ers next take on the Los Angeles Rams on Sun Nov 29th in LA, the Rams have won four of their last five games and lost to the 49ers in their last meeting Sun Oct 18 at Levis Stadium 24-16. How do you see these two matching up on Nov 29th?

Cal Bears podcast with Morris Phillips: Bears finally play their first game and get trounced by UCLA

UCLA quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson (1) takes a leap of faith over Cal Bears cornerback Josh Drayden (20) as the Bears Evan Tattersall (54) watches the play in the first half at UCLA on Sun Nov 15, 2020 (AP News photo)

Cal Bears podcast with Morris Phillips:

#1 Morris, the UCLA Bruins (1-1) on Sunday didn’t waste anytime jumping on the Cal Bears (0-1) at the Rose Bowl taking a 27-10 lead to get things started in the first half.

#2 Lots of defense from both teams in the second half where UCLA was the only team who scored in the fourth quarter a touchdown as the Bears get trounced in the opener 34-10.

#3 Morris, would you say a lot of this game loss for Cal had to be attributed to all the schedule changes the Bears had to go through they started out the week not even knowing how to prepare for a game at ASU that might not be played, then it was canceled once they got to ASU and were told on Friday night to get to Los Angeles for a Sunday morning game against UCLA.

#4 As tough as the loss was for Cal how important is it for the Bears to at least to have got this first game in the books considering all the changes and preparation they put into practicing this week.

#5 The Bears play their second straight road game this time next Sat Nov 21st at Oregon State (0-2). The Beavers took a close loss against the Washington Huskies (1-0) 27-21 at Husky Stadium in Seattle on Saturday. The Beavers and Huskies played to a narrow margin in the first half with the Huskies taking the half time lead 24-21. The second half was all defense with UW getting the only score in the half with a field goal and a 27-21 final. Morris set up the Cal Bears at OSU for this Saturday.
