#1 Josh Bailey and Cal Clutterbuck of the New York Islanders each scored in the third period of Friday night’s game and Isles goaltender Thomas Greiss stopped 19 shots against the Washington Capitals for a 2-0 win.

#2 The Calgary Flames’ Sam Bennett couldn’t be contained, scoring two goals as well as the go-ahead goal as the Flames took a two-goal win past the Detroit Red Wings 6-4 on Friday.

#3 Phil Kessel got a power play goal at 4:09 in overtime as the Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Arizona Coyotes 3-2. The Pens won it on a 4-3 power play after slashing was called on the Coyotes’ Richard Panik.

#4 Brock Boeser of the Vancouver Canucks got a goal and an assist and Canucks goalie Thatcher Demko stopped 36 shots, beating the visiting Buffalo Sabers at Rogers Center in Vancouver.

#5 The Ottawa Senators’ Bobby Ryan and Mark Stone didn’t waste anytime in the second period, scoring 13 seconds apart to win their fourth straight game, defeating the Carolina Hurricanes in Ottawa 4-1.

#1 The San Jose Sharks’ seven-game win streak came to an end on Wednesday night in Glendale to the tune of 6-3. What happened to the Sharks’ defense that night?

#2 The Sharks couldn’t get in front of a lot of shots and there were some bad bounces including one that was a ricochet that misdirected and got past Sharks goalie Aaron Dell for one of the Yotes’ goals.

#3 The Coyotes kept it going scoring in deuces with goals in the first, second, and third–a real reflection of a breakdown in defense throughout the game.

#4 The Sharks’ Logan Couture said: “We’re fine. You never want to go crazy when you lose, but it’s difficult when you lose a division game, one that’s winnable. (The Coyotes) knew we played last night and jumped on us right away.”

#5 The Sharks will take on the Tampa Bay Lightning, who just lost a tough one to the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-2. This one should be a real battle as both teams will grind this one out for a win.

Stanford Cardinal podcast with Joey Friedman: Cardinal get wiped out in Seattle as Huskies take a 16-point win

#1 KZ Okpala led the Stanford Cardinal (8-9) with 22 points, but all for not, as the Cardinal lose by 16 to the host Washington Huskies (13-4) 80-64.

#2 At one point, the Huskies led Stanford 18-8 midway in the first half.

#3 Despite the Cardinal cutting into the Huskie’s lead in the second half, the Huskies shot the ball well for 55%.

#4 The Cardinal’s Josh Sharma stayed consistent with his shooting, finishing with 17 points

#5 The Cardinal will try it all over again this Saturday in Pullman against the Washington State Cougars a 12 noon tip. Joey sets this game up.

#4 The Toronto Maple Leafs (29-15-2) got a two-goal win over the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-2. Goals by the Leafs Nazem Kadri (10), Patrick Marleau (11), Mitchell Marner (19), and Zach Hyman (8).

#5 The Winnipeg Jets (31-14-2) got a big win over the Nashville Predators (28-17-4) 5-1. Brenden Lemieux scored two goals for Winnipeg his fourth and fifth for the season.

#3 The Philadelphia 76ers piled up the points for a 120-96 win over the Indiana Pacers. The Sixers’ Jimmy Butler led with 27 points.

#4 The Toronto Raptors beat the Suns 111-109 in Toronto. The Raptors’ Pascal Siakam had 10 points to lead Toronto in scoring.

#5 The Denver Nuggets knocked off the struggling Chicago Bulls 135-105. The Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic led with 18 points.

San Jose Barracuda podcast with Marko Ukalovic: Cuda getting help from Suomela and Wood in win over Stockton; Texas coming to SJ on Friday

#1 The San Jose Barracuda (28-8-1-3) got back on track with a win over the Stockton Heat (16-18-3-0) Sunday at SAP Center 2-1. They scored two unanswered goals.

#2 Both goaltenders did a good job holding off the offense for the first 19 minutes in a shutout showdown–the Barracuda’s Antoine Bibeau (9-5-3) and the Stockton Heat’s Jon Gillies (5-11-3).

#3  The Cuda picked up a goal with 11 seconds left in the first period from Antti Suomela for a top-shelf goal at 19:49.

#4 As Gillies was screened in the third period, the Cuda’s Alex True passed to Kyle Wood, who shot a wrister for his third goal of the season, which proved to the game-winner.

#5 The Barracuda go at it again on Friday night at SAP, hosting the Texas Stars, the Dallas Stars’ affiliate, a 7:00 pm puck drop.
