The Sacramento Kings were back in action on Wednesday night. The Kings entered Wednesday after playing the San Antonio Spurs on Monday and getting a day off on Tuesday in Texas. On Wednesday, the Kings were back at it facing the Spurs for the second time in as many games. The Kings beat the Spurs on Monday but weren’t able to replicate the feat on Tuesday losing the game by a final of 120-106.

Flashback Monday: In the Kings last game, they also played the Spurs. They were able to defeat the Spurs by a final of 132-115. It was a strong showing for the Kings who have came out strong in the second half of the season after the All-Star break.

Wednesday recap: On Wednesday, the Kings were set to take on the San Antonio Spurs in Texas at 530 PM PST.

In the first half, the Spurs jumped out to an early lead. In the first quarter saw the Kings defense faltered as they allowed the Spurs to score 33 points compared to the Kings 27.

In the second quarter it was a similar outcome for the Kings. The Kings were outscored again by the Spurs 36-26 as the Spurs took a commanding 69-53 lead into the halfway mark of the game. The Kings would need to pick up the pace on the offensive and defensive ends of the floor to have any shot at a comeback.

In the second half, the Kings weren’t able to pull off the comeback. The third quarter saw the Kings outscore the Spurs for the first time in the game 29-28. However, that wouldn’t be nearly enough. It would take a massive fourth quarter to make a dent in the Spurs lead.

In the fourth, the Kings again outscored the Spurs but not by a 24-23 margin and the Kings fell in Texas 120-106. De’Aaron Fox led the Kings with 20 points in defeat as the Spurs were led by DeMar DeRozan who had 26 points. The Kings would look to get back on track in their next game.

Up Next: The Kings will travel home to take on the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night at 7 PM PST In Sacramento.

On the picture the The Hispanic Heritage Baseball Museum wall at the Oakland Coliseum’s for the past three seasons. Local Bay Area artist Mauricio Segura was the designer. 2020 was an off-year for The Hispanic Heritage Baseball Museum and Hall of Fame.

The museum will not be at this year’s All Star Game scheduled to be at Atlanta’s Trust Park on Tuesday July 13th. But will take part in the 2022 All Star Game to be held at Dodger Stadium, July 12, 2022 in Los Angeles, (in the LA Convention Center in the heart of LA) which was re-scheduled from last year’s that was to take place at Dodger Stadium, but could not, because the covid-Pandemic.

No inductions to the museum Hall of Fame took place last year. The Hispanic Heritage Baseball Museum and Hall of Fame was established on October 24, 1998 as a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization dedicated to recognize the contributions of Hispanic players in baseball.

Mr. Tito Avila Jr is the creator and founder of the museum. This museum will ensure the history and profound influence that Hispanic players have made. The museum has exhibited in over fifteen major league cities and has inducted 74 players to date into their Hall of Fame.

The Hispanic Heritage Baseball Museum and Hall of Fame have participated in the Oakland Athletics Fan Fest as well as well as the Giants, throughout the years, however because of the pandemic we were not able to join the players and see their fans up and close as they celebrate the arrival of another baseball season.

We have exhibited in All Star Games, as well Fan Fest with our very popular traveling wall of history which depicts the very first Hispanics to play in organized baseball in the United States, in chronological order. We have displayed at many public libraries across the country, as well as numerous community events.

At the Oakland Coliseum fans enjoyed a large portion of the wall to the right at the Club Level entrance, from 2018 to 2020 thousands of fans have enjoyed, stopped and taken pictures and read the history. Wholesome role models are rare in today’s society.

Our youth desperately seek hope and direction, this museum offers a unique opportunity to provide inspiration while creating a great legacy with vision towards our future. Mr. Dave Kaval, President of the Athletics and Dave Rinetti, VP of Stadium Operations were instrumental in the three years the HHBMHOF mural was at the Oakland Coliseum.

With around 30 percent of Hispanic players in Major League Baseball and between 45 to 50 million Hispanics in the country, the largest minority, it is impossible to ignore. The Hispanic Heritage Baseball Museum has big plans and continues to be committed to preserving the history and profound influence that Hispanic players have had on “America’s Favorite Past Time” At the time of its foundation the museum was recognized by then Commissioner of Baseball Mr.Bud Selig.

Stanford Ladies Comeback To Beat Louisville 78-63

No.1 Stanford Cardinal Alyssa Jerome (10), Lexie Hull (12) and Anna Wilson (3) are all smiles after their defeat over the Louisville Cardinals

By Barbara Mason

Tuesday night Stanford Cardinal (29-2) Ladies Basketball took on the Louisville Cardinals (26-4) in hopes of punching their ticket to the Final Four. They are led by Kiana Williams and a host of other talented players. Williams is currently shooting 47 percent three pointers and shows no signs of slowing. The entire team has been playing lights out basketball and stopping them will be a challenge for any team. The Louisville Cardinals are gunning to be the victors in this Elite Eight matchup.

Louisville will have to bring their defense big time in this game and not allow Stanford to get into a rhythm. There are seven players on the Cardinal team that shoot the three so this is a big challenge for Louisville. All eyes will be on Dana Evans who shot 29 points in the Louisville Sweet Sixteen win. How will Evans and team mates handle the lethal offense of Stanford is one pressing question.

Stanford’s Ana Wilson will be facing Evans and that will be the matchup to watch in this game. It will have a lot top do with the outcome of this game.

Things did not go at all the way that Stanford had hoped for in the first quarter. Louisville led 21-13 and had forced a lot of turnovers coupled with three 3-pt plays. When Stanford’s Williams started to force the ball it was time to slow it down and get into the rhythm that we are used to seeing on this team. In the quarter Louisville really put the stops on the Stanford offense while at the same playing brilliant offense themselves.

The second quarter was a tough one for Stanford as well. Kiana Williams struggled mightily throughout the half. She had eleven misses to start the third quarter. The score \was 38-26 in favor of Louisville at halftime. The Cardinal ladies had a lot of work ahead of them in the second half.

The third quarter saw a Kiana Williams revival coupled with some great rebounds and after trailing by 12 points Stanford had narrowed the Louisville lead to 1 point. At 2:11 left in the quarter Stanford took the lead 46-45. As the third quarter came to an end the Louisville Cardinals had a two-point lead 50-48.

The Stanford ladies really turned it on in the fourth quarter offensively and defensively. They were unstoppable as Louisville struggled at both ends of the court. After a slow start Stanford looked every bit like the overall top seed. The final was 78-63 in favor of Stanford. Hull finished with 21 points, Williams with 14 and Jones with 10. Prechtel finished with 16 off the bench for Stanford. Louisvilles Dana Evans had 24 points.

It was an incredible turnaround as now Stanford moves onto the Final Four to take on South Carolina.

by Marko Ukalovic

SAN JOSE, Calif—The San Jose Barracuda scored three unanswered goals in the second period as they overcame a two-goal deficit en-route to a 4-3 victory over the Bakersfield Condors on Tuesday evening at Solar4America Ice.

San Jose snapped its three-game losing streak while sending Bakersfield to their third straight loss.

Bakersfield (11-9-0-1) drew first blood midway through the first period. Seth Griffith intercepted a clearing attempt along the left boards. Griffith centered a pass out to Ostap Safin who fired a shot top-shelf past ‘Cuda goalie Josef Korenar for his fourth goal of the season at the 9:22 mark.

Three of Safin’s four goals have come against the Barracuda in the past six days.

San Jose outshot Bakersfield 13-6 in the opening 20 minutes but weren’t able to get on the scoreboard against Condors goalie Stuart Skinner.

The Condors doubled its lead early in the second period. Ryan McLeod found Markus Niemelainen wide open in the high slot and the Condors defenseman rifled home a wrist shot just under the pad of Korenar for his second goal of the season at the 3:49 mark.

The Barracuda (7-6-4-1) struck back exactly three minutes later to cut Bakersfield’s lead in half. Christian Jaros found Jacob Middleton at the redline and the veteran defenseman skated in down the left wing side and snapped home a wrist shot to the far side beating Skinner for his second goal of the season at the 6:49 mark.

San Jose scored the equalizer past the midway point of the middle frame. Joachim Blichfeld skated around the Condors net and centered a pass out to Noah Gregor in the left slot. Gregor fired a wrist shot past Stuart for his third goal of the season at the 10:38 mark.

The ‘Cuda gained its first lead while on the power play. Blichfeld started the tic-tac-toe play with a pass to Stefan Noesen down low on the left wing. Noesen quickly found Alexander True camped out in front of the net and True one-timed the puck past Skinner for his sixth goal of the season.

The ‘Cuda had come into the game 1-for-13 with the man advantage against Bakersfield.

San Jose scored an insurance goal early in the third period. Joel Kellman threaded a pass between two Condors defenders over to Fredrik Handemark and he beat Stuart top-shelf with a wrist shot for his fourth goal of the season at the 6:20 mark.

Bakersfield answered back when Joe Gambardella intercepted a pass behind the net and centered a pass out in front where Jakob Stukel raced in from the blueline and snapped a wrist shot past Korenar for his third goal of the season at the 14:46 mark.

The Condors had a power play opportunity for the final 1:48 and made it a six-on-four as they pulled Skinner for an extra attacker. However Korenar stood his ground making three big saves in the final minute.

Korenar finished with 30 saves on 33 shots to earn the victory. Stuart made 27 saves on 31 shots in the losing effort.

GAME NOTES: San Jose went 1-for-2 on the power play. Bakersfield was 0-for-3.

San Jose is 5-0-1 in their last six home games, including 4-0 at Solar4America Ice.

The ‘Cuda are 2-2-2-1 versus the Condors this season.

Both Blichfeld and Noesen finished with two assists a piece.

The Three Stars of the Game were: 1) Handemark 2) Blichfeld 3) Noesen

UP NEXT: The Barracuda travel down to Irvine to take on the San Diego Gulls on Saturday 4/2 at 7:00pm at FivePoint Arena.

#1 The biggest news in the NHL is the Florida Panthers (22-9-4) defenseman Aaron Ekblad will be out for 12 weeks due to a fractured leg. Ekblad was removed from the game in the second period on Sunday when the Dallas Stars (11-12-9) Esa Lindell checked Ekblad and Ekblad clutched his left leg that was under him. #2 Len, the Nashville Predators (18-17-1) are one of the hottest teams in the NHL right now they took a six game winning streak into tonight’s game against the Dallas Stars. There’s nothing like a lot of experience and Preds goaltender Pekka Rinne has been key those wins in his last game he stopped 27 shots allowed two goals in the 3-2 win over the Chicago Blackhawks (16-15-5).

#3 Len, try as hard as they can the Buffalo Sabers (6-23-5) just can’t win for losing. Their on a 16 game losing streak and on Monday night couldn’t pull a rabbit out of the hat losing to the Philadelphia Flyers (17-13-4) in overtime 4-3. The Sabres goalie Linus Ullmark faced a barrage of shots from the Flyers 36 in all. For Ullmark is it a matter of not getting enough defense up front or is he just getting beat at the net.

#4 The Vegas Knights (24-8-1) make it look so easy on Monday night they picked up another easy win with a 4-1 three goal victory over the Los Angeles Kings (13-14-6) at the T Mobile Center in Las Vegas. The key to the win was goaltender Robin Lehner who stopped 24 Kings shots.
