The San Francisco 49ers got back on track last a Sunday. After losing the first game of the season to the upstart Arizona Cardinals, the 49ers took on the Jets last Sunday in New York. The game was won handily by the 49ers by a final of 31-1. The 49ers moved to 1-1 on the season.

Unfortunately, last week’s game did prove costly in terms of injuries. The 49ers star tight end George Kittle left the game with an ankle injury. The 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo also left Sunday’s game with an ankle injury. Both injuries seem mild but nonetheless could impact Sunday’s game.

George Kittle practiced in light practice both of the last two days but is still likely to sit out on Sunday. For Jimmy, it seems even more of a guarantee he sits on Sunday. It’s a blow to the 49ers but they do face a week opponent this week.

The 49ers will take on the New York Giants as they stay in the city that never sleeps for this week.

The Giants are 0-2 on the season and suffered a brutal injury of their own last week. Star running back Saquon Barkley has a torn ACL and will miss the remainder of the season. On the positive side for the Giants, it appears Barkley will make a full recovery and be able to play the remainder of his career.

The injury riddled franchises kick off at 10 AM PST in New York.

#1 Tony, how surprised were you that the Las Vegas Raiders had gone on a 2-0 start was it a matter of getting the lucky breaks or they are good as they look?

#2 Talk about Raiders quarterback Derek Carr on Monday Night Football he threw  28 for 38 for 282 yards for three touchdowns against a very good Saints team.

#3 The San Francisco 49ers have a vast number of injuries Jimmy Garoppolo QB (ankle), Nick Bosa DE (knee), Solomon Thomas DT (knee ACL), Tevin Coleman RB (knee) and Raheem Mostert RB (knee). They just got by the Jets last week and face the Giants Sunday will they be ready?

#4 The Oakland A’s are headed to a three game wild card series they won the AL West and unlike last year’s wild card when they hosted the Tampa Bay Rays for just one game and were one and done they get a possible three game series out of the first round of these MLB playoffs.

#5 The San Francisco Giants who defeated the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday night 5-2 are tied with the Milwaukee Brewers for the last and final eighth spot in the NL Wild Card Standings which means every game until the end of the day Sunday count for a lot for the Giants to get in the playoffs.

The Las Vegas Raiders tight end Darren Waller (83) is grabbed around the right ankle by New Orleans Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore (23) in the first half on Monday Night Football at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas (AP News photo)

On the LV Raiders podcast with Barbara:

#1 The Las Vegas Raiders is a name that’s going to take a little getting used to saying, but also winning their first two games of the season is something Raiders head coach Jon Gruden can get used to real quick as the Raiders win in their inaugural game at Allegiant Stadium on Monday Night Football 34-24.

#2 The Raiders converted five out of seven third downs in the first half and forced a half time tie with the Saints at 17-17 and gained some confidence coming out of the locker room at the half.

#3 The second half the Raiders held the Saints to no scores in the third quarter. Quarterback Drew Brees looked like he was running for day light to find a receiver and just came up empty.

#4 Talk about the Raiders hosting this first game at their new digs particularly with no fans did this give them more time to focus on the Saints, did the new building help influence the game for the Raiders?

#5 The Raiders at 2-0 head to New England for their next game against the Patriots who are coming off a tough 35-30 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. How do you see this match up in New England.

The first NFL game ever played in Las Vegas was a good one for the Raiders.

Las Vegas rolled to a 34-24 win over the New Orleans Saints at the new Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

“Thrilled for being a part of our first win here in our stadium against a great team,” said head coach Jon Gruden.

Quarterback Derek Carr led the offense going 28 for 38 for 282 yards and three touchdowns.

“I am really proud of our guys to sticking with our rules and trusting the game plan,” said Carr.  “We got a lot of good football players.  We got a lot of good football character guys.”

“This guy is a great quarterback,” said Gruden about Carr.  “We have surrounded him with better players.”

Down 10-0 in the 1st quarter, Carr hit fullback Alec Ingold on a three yard pass for the first touchdown in Las Vegas Raiders history at Allegiant Stadium.

“I was real thankful that that preparation, the hard work, my coaches and my teammates trusted me to get that number called,” said Ingold on his touchdown catch.

After later falling down 17-7 in the 2nd quarter, the Raiders rolled off 24 straight points including a one yard touchdown pass from Carr to tight end Darren Waller.

“Our offensive balance right now is amazing,” said Waller.  “We could see it coming from training camp.”

Waller caught 12 balls for 103 yards and a touchdown.

Up just one score at 31-24 with 3:28 left in the game, Gruden called on kicker Daniel Carlson to seal the win with a 54 yard field goal.

With the win, the Raiders improved to 2-0 on the season and will next travel to Foxboro on Sunday to face the 1-1 New England Patriots.

#1 The Raiders got off to a good start with a win over the Carolina Panthers last Sunday 34-30 how crucial was it for the Raiders to get that first win out of the way.

#3 For the Raiders that fourth quarter the Panthers started closing in on them with 15 points and time running out the Raiders defense had to hold the Panthers to that limit.

#4 Raiders quarterback Derek Carr threw for 27-30 for 239 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions.

San Francisco 49ers preview: 49ers one of the bottom offenses in the NFL looking to right the ship

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo watches in the second half of last Sun Sep 13th’s game at Levis Stadium in Santa Clara where the visiting Arizona Cardinals won by four points in week 1 of the NFL season (AP News photo)

By Jeremiah Salmonson

The San Francisco 49ers are headed on the road for the first time this season. After opening the COVID season at home last Sunday the 49ers head out on the road to New York where they will take on the New York Jets.

The Jets, are coming off a disappointing first game of the season in which they lost to Josh Allen and the Bulls by a final of 27-17. The 49ers in the other hand also had an underwhelming performance in the opener against the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals led by Kyler Murray managed to beat the 49ers by a final of 24-20.

The 49ers after week one sit in the bottom half of offenses in the league. Certainly not what head coach Kyle Shanahan envisioned coming into this year. The 49ers will have an opportunity to right the ship against a sub par Jets team this coming Sunday Sep 20th at the Metlife Stadium.

The game is set for 10 AM PST on Sunday in New York.
