#1 The Golden State Warriors and the Sacramento Kings have met 11 times including pre season games in their last 17 meetings. That gives them enough time to know each other.

#2 Jeremiah Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said that amount of meetings has to be an NBA record. It gave each team familiarity resulting in a one point win for Golden State on Wednesday night at Chase Center 102-101.

#3 Golden State’s Klay Thompson hit a 17 foot shot with less than a second remaining to win the game. Jeremiah talk about that shot by Thompson it was a tough loss for the Kings as they played their hearts out as described by Kings head coach Mike Brown.

#4 Jeremiah, with the lose the Kings drop to 2-2 getting great offensive production from Domantas Sobonis who led Sacramento with 23 points. Sobonis has been a difference for the Kings in crucial games.

#5 Kings will go back to the drawing board and face the Houston Rockets at the Toyota Center in Houston on Sat Nov 4 which will be the first of a two game series the other game on Mon Nov 6. The Rockets won their last game defeating the Charlotte Hornets 128-119.

Sharks Drop To 0-9-1 After A Devastating Loss To Vancouver 10-1

San Jose, CA – The San Jose Sharks are back home and they are coming off a winless opening month of hockey and they hope to start the month of November off with a win. That will come with a challenge though as they face off against the Vancouver Canucks who are looking like one of the best teams in the Western Conference this early in the season. 

The first period for San Jose was why they’re projected to be not only the worst team this season, but one of the worst teams in NHL history. Two and a half minutes into the game, the Canucks scored a power play goal after Nico Sturm’s high sticking minor.

The goal was scored by Brock Boeser (assisted by Elias Pettersson and Quinn Hughes) on a great slap shot that followed elite passing, 1-0 Vancouver. Not even two minutes later J.T. Miller scored the second goal, still on the power play, but this time when Boeser cleared the puck it ricocheted off the boards and Miller scooped it and backhanded it past Kaapo, 2-0 Vancouver.

The spiral continued four minutes later after another was scored, but this one is attributed to sloppy defense from the Sharks. The goal was scored by Hughes, who at this point had three points (1 goal and 2 assists) and the building might as well have been here for drinks and atmosphere.

Thatcher Demko of Vancouver stopped all six shots the Sharks brought his way, but the story here was the Sharks defense never leaving the starting blocks. A Mario Ferraro tripping penalty gave the Sharks their second penalty, but more importantly it gave Boesar his second goal of the game (assisted by Andrei Kuzmenko and Miller) and by the end of the opening period, the Sharks made their way back to the locker room down 4-0. 

The second period was even worse for the Sharks and it felt like the end of the road for San Jose. One minute in the period and Vancouver immediately jumped on the Sharks with a one time goal by Ilya Mikheyev (assisted by Soucy and Pettersson), 5-0 Canucks.

The next goal for Vancouver was not only bad, because it added to the avalanche of goals, but Kaapo Kahkonen was injured during the goal. Andrei Kuzmenko scored with assists by Pettersson and Mark Friedman to make it 6-0, but the damage was done.

Kahkonen was out with an injury and Mackenzie Blackwood was in, but the scoring didn’t stop. Sam Lafferty would add to this with a wrap-around goal and it was 7-0.

The fourth goal of the period for the Canucks was by Pius Suter for his first of the season, but on this goal Quinn Hughes got the assist and by the end of this second period, Hughes had five points in an 8-0 lead as the we were in the second intermission.

Sharks fans booed and some walked out, but it was clear that air was taken out of the building. This is Coach David Quinn’s 300th game and this might be the game where fans call for his job. The stats show that it’s not his fault this Sharks team is this bad, but don’t tell that to these fans. 

The final period wasn’t any different from the rest of the game if anything it was David’s nightmare. “Fire Quinn” chants began after Anthony Beauvillier scored on a power play to make it 9-0 and we were only three minutes into the period.

 Beauvillier scored his second goal eight minutes after his first and at this point it was 10-0 and the Canucks had scored more goals in one game than the Sharks have all season. By the end of this game the Sharks scored one goal by Fabian Zetterlund and the crowd that was still in attendance popped for it, but the game was more than over, it was a goal for Quinn.

The next game for San Jose is against some familiar foes when they face off against the Pittsburgh Penguins and this is Erik Karlsson’s first game back in San Jose with his new team and this doesn’t look good for the Sharks as analysts project another loss for the Sharks, but that seems like the what whole regular season is projected at this point.

#2 It was a nip-and-tuck affair for all four quarters. The first half ended with the Warriors up by a point, 56-55. The Kings’ defense held the Warriors to 18 points in the third quarter to lead by five 79-74. The Warriors knew they had to find a way to beat Sacramento.

#3 The Kings’ head coach, Mike Brown, had Davion Mitchell start instead of Fox. Brown could have put Malik Monk in the starting lineup but felt Monk was better coming off the bench.

#4 Brown took that knowledge to Sacramento and turned the Kings into a defensive powerhouse. The Kings also have a potent offense led by Fox and Domontas Sabonis. With Fox out, the Kings knew the defense would be necessary if they hoped to get a win over the Warriors.

#5 The Warriors are back on the road to face the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday night in the first game of the in-season tournament for a 5:00pm PT tip off.

The Golden State Warriors won a nail-biter Wednesday night as they downed the Sacramento Kings 102-101 at the Chase Center in San Francisco. The Warriors won their fourth in a row and the second over the Kings this year. As mentioned above, it took work. The Warriors had home-court advantage, and the Kings were without their star, De’Aaron Fox. Fox sprained an ankle in the Kings’ last game against the LA Lakers.

The Kings’ head coach, Mike Brown, had Davion Mitchell start instead of Fox. Brown could have put Malik Monk in the starting lineup but felt Monk was better coming off the bench. When Brown was an assistant with the Warriors, he was instrumental in helping the Warriors become one of the best defensive teams in the NBA.

Brown took that knowledge to Sacramento and turned the Kings into a defensive powerhouse. The Kings also have a potent offense led by Fox and Domontas Sabonis. With Fox out, the Kings knew the defense would be necessary if they hoped to get a win over the Warriors.

The Warriors fought back. The fans felt the winner would be the team making a crucial bucket in crunch time. That is exactly what happened. With 33 seconds left, Warrior guard Stephen Curry made a two-point bucket to give the Warriors a one-point lead, 100-99.

The Kings big man, Sabonis, answered with a basket to put the Kings in the lead 101-100 with 15 seconds left on the clock. Brown did not want Curry to get the last shot. The defense was keyed on Curry. Somehow, Klay Thomson got free and took the shot from about 17 feet. Thompson, a future Hall of Famer, saw his shot go in for the score. There was 0.2 seconds left. The Kings could not do anything. The Warriors win.

Game Notes: With the win, the Warriors are now 4-1. The Kings are 2-2. Both losses have been the the Warriors.

The Warriors had six players in double figures. Curry led the club with 21. Curry made four threes. Dario Saric was great on both ends of the court. Saruic put 15 points on the board and six rebounds. Saric was excellent at defending against Sabonis throughout the game. Green had 13 points and nine assists. Andrew Wiggins and Thompson each had 14 points. Jonathan Kuninga added 12. 

The Kings also had six players in double figures. Sabonis led the Kings with 23. Malik Monk, coming off the bench, had 16. Mitchell had 13, Harrison Barnes had 14, Keegan Murray had 10, and Kevin Huerter had 11.

The Warriors are back on the road to face the Oklahoma Thunder on Friday night in the first game of the in-season tournament for a 5:00pm PT tip off.

In the closest game the Sacramento Kings have seen this season the Golden State Warriors battled past the Kings 102-101 at the Chase Center in San Francisco. This game was tight from start to finish and in the end it was Klay Thompson with the ultimate clutch shot that won it for the Warriors. Both teams had better offensive and defensive effort in the second half but when push came to shove it was Golden State that prevailed. With less than a second left on the clock Thompson hit pay dirt.

Wednesday night the Golden State Warriors (4-1) were back home at Chase taking on the Sacramento Kings (2-2). The Warriors beat the Kings up in Sacramento less than a week ago 122-114. Both of these teams were in last year’s post-season and will likely repeat in the 2023-24 season. This will be yet another battle between these two northern California teams.

The Kings led after the first quarter 31-28. The Warriors took charge in the second quarter winning it 28-24 and taking a 56-55 lead into the locker room at the half. The defensive pressure from Golden State was lacking in the first half but the Warriors have always been a second half team. They would be looking to tighten up their defense going into the third quarter.

The Kings continued to take charge in the third quarter at one time leading by 11 points 69-58. The slow start the Warriors had in the quarter came to end when they went on a 13-3 run. At one point the Kings had outscored them 14-4 but as the quarter came to an end the Kings continued to lead 79-74 but Golden State had whittled down their lead.

There had been no true separation in this game simply because of how well these two teams know each other and how well these two coaches know each other as well.

The fourth quarter began to reveal a lot of King’s mistakes with missed shots and turnovers coupled with some terrific defense by Golden State. Golden State guard Curry started to hit some of those shots from downtown as we see so often in the second half of games.

The Warriors took the lead in the early minutes of the final quarter but this game remained tight. With seven minutes left in the game head coach Steve Kerr put Curry and Draymond Green, their elite closers, on the court.

At 6:46 left in the game it was all tied up at 83. This game would go back and forth still tied with five minutes left on the clock. Sacramento double teamed Curry for the remainder of the quarter, not unexpected, and something that Curry sees in most every game.

Despite that Curry has an uncanny way of working around opponents defense and scoring anyway. Kevon Looney made some great clean up shots giving the Warriors a one shot lead 92-89 with 3:33 left to play. At 2:53 it was anybody’s game with the Kings up one 93-92. Everyone of the Sacramento’s starters were in double digits.

This game could not have been tighter with the two teams trading the lead throughout. With forty seconds left in the game the Warriors could not make a single mistake trailing 99-98. This had been the closest game either of these two teams had played so far this season.

This time it was not Curry to the rescue it was Thompson who shot over Davion Mitchell to take a 102-101 lead with 0.2 on the clock and that would be the final. Golden State had improved to 4-1 as they head back out on the road to take on the Thunder.

The bench had come into this game giving the Warriors some good minutes but it was Klay Thompson who had a great shooting night in the second half. He finished with 14 points but it was the last shot that he took that made all the difference in this game.

Curry had the team high 21 points. The Warriors continue to struggle with turnovers committing 18 in the game. It may not have been a pretty game but the final score was a beauty.

The Kings played a terrific offensive and defensive game and they might have found a way to win if they had not been without their superstar De’Aaron Fox. Every starter had double digits for Sacramento as they will now head to Houston for a game with the Rockets.

#1 Ottawa Senators fired general manager Pierre Dorion. The firing came under new Senators owner Michael Andlauer who as owner within his first 30 days had a inherited a sports wagering scandal. Shane Pinto was suspended for 41 games for sports wagering. The suspension started Oct 26th. The Senators also lose a first round draft pick and the trade for Evgeni Dadonov was invalidated. Steven Staios has been named as the new general manager.

#2 Minnesota Wild forward Matt Boldy is expected to get back in the line up for Thursday night against the New Jersey Devils. Boldy had been out with an upper body injury since Oct 14 on the second night of the regular season against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Boldy said getting hurt in the second game of the year stinks.

#3 The Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Carter Hart is out with an upper body injury. Hart sustained the injury against the Buffalo Sabers at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia on Wednesday. It was Hart’s eighth start in ten games.

#4 For the Chicago Blackhawks Connor Bedard says he’s getting used to the NHL life. Bedard so far has four goals and two assists and hoped to see a lot more action. Bedard said that he looks forward to an exciting NHL season.

#5 Len, the Carolina Hurricanes Paul Stastny is retiring from hockey after 17 years. Stastny has not filed any retirement papers but said in September he would be done after this season. Stastny came in as a second pick (44) in 2005 by the Colorado Avalanche. Stastny has 822 career points (293 goals and 529 assists).

#1 The Las Vegas Raiders got to work in the wee hours of Wednesday morning in making coaching changes at head coach, quarterback coach, offensive coordinator, and general manager. Rich first wanted to get your reaction on the firings of former head coach Josh McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler.

#2 The Raiders were 3-5 after last Monday Night’s loss to the Detroit Lions. The Raiders only were able to coup 157 total yards and quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo was sacked six times. After a game like that owner Mark Davis didn’t waste anytime deciding to make changes.

#3 The Raiders have had their share of tough games but one of the added features to these firings has to be from the reaction that wide receiver Devante Adams displayed when he fired his helmet down in front of the Raiders bench when the offense just wasn’t getting anything going in the second half.

#4 Rich, tell us about your thoughts on interim head coach Antonio Pierce who was the Raiders linebackers coach. Did he pretty much get selected because he was a good motivator, someone who the players respected on and off the field and a coach who can make the difference in the remaining nine games.

#5 Did McDaniels seem to lose the team after getting clobbered by the Chicago Bears, this recent loss on Monday night to the Lions, and how some of the offensive play calling came into question?

Pierce named interim head coach; Raiders Fire Head Coach Josh McDaniels and General Manager Dave Ziegler

Wednesday morning the Las Vegas Raiders were making headlines for all the wrong reasons. This team has been been struggling for awhile now and Monday’s game was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

It was a horrendous showing from top to bottom and so the Raiders cleared the board firing head coach Josh McDaniels, general manager Dave Ziegler and offensive coordinator Mike Lombardi. When these guys were hired they were expected to take the team to the next level. They did indeed take a step, unfortunately, in the wrong direction.

It seems that McDaniels is more suited to an offensive coordinator role. He was also fired from his head coach duties with the Denver Broncos in less than two years.

McDaniels did, however, have great success with the New England Patriots winning six Super Bowls rings but as offensive coordinator. The offensive success he had in New England never translated to Las Vegas which led to some of the most embarrassing losses in Raider franchise history.

The Las Vegas Raiders lost to the Detroit Lions on Monday Night Football in a game that they, quite frankly, had opportunity to have won. Something is not clicking with quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and some blame has to go to the quarterback coach Bo Hardegree.

After the Garoppolo misfires Sunday as well as the questionable effort on both sides of the ball the Raiders are taking swift action promoting Hardegree, former quarterback coach, to offensive coordinator in an effort to stop the bleeding as the Raiders dropped to a 3-5 season record.

Not long after the McDaniels and Ziegler firings the Raiders fired offensive coordinator Mick Lombardi. Hardegree will replace Lombardi. Lombard’s 31st per game for eight weeks in NFL offensive ranking was part of the reason for the dismissal.

Lombardi as offensive coordinator posted 30th in points scored per game with 15.8. On Monday Night Football the Raiders had only 157 yards against the Lions. The Lions had 486 total yards against the Raiders. Lombardi was in his second year with the Raiders after stints with the San Francisco 49ers and New York Jets as an assistant. Lombardi also was the quarterbacks coach for the New England Patriots.

New head coach and general manager: The man stepping into a most difficult situation has been named. The new interim head coach for the Raiders is linebacker coach Antonio Pierce. Champ Kelly will serve as interim general manager. Once this season is over the team will be doing an in depth search committed to finding the right fit for the Raiders.

Pierce will make his NFL head-coaching debut this Sunday against the 2-6 New York Giants. This will be an interesting match-up considering that Pierce won a Super Bowl as a player in 2007 with the Giants. He will be the eighth different head coach, interim or regular, since October 2011.

The Las Vegas statistics for the 2023 season are about as grim as you could imagine. They are No. 31 in total offense, No. 32 in rushing yards per game and rank 30th in points per game. The talented Davante Adams and Josh Jacobs have been underused at the receiver and running back positions which is absolutely insane.

Jacobs was the NFL’s rushing leader and has been insignificant this season. Adams only had 1 catch for 11 yards against the Lions on Monday’s game in Detroit and was understandably livid on the sidelines.

Neither of these guys have been used in a way to maximize their talent. Another former Pro Bowl player slot receiver Hunter Renfrow had been underutilized with only ten receptions so far this season after catching 103 in 2021.

This will be a tough time for the team going forward. The change at the Head Coach position is always difficult and especially when it happens during the season. With so much undervalued talent the hopes are that they can somehow turn this season around and put a better product on the field with these difficult changes.

Something has to give at the quarterback position as well as the offensive front line. If the front line cannot efficiently do their job neither can their quarterback. There is so much to be addressed it makes your head spin and these new coaches will certainly have their hands full.

As this drama unfolds all eyes will be on Pierce this Sunday as the Las Vegas Raiders take on the New York Giants at Allegiant Stadium. It is very hard to imagine things going any worse for this team. It has certainly reached it’s pinnacle of setbacks. It will not happen overnight but there still remains hope for an improved performance on the field starting this Sunday afternoon in Las Vegas.

#1 Things still pretty rough for the San Jose Barracuda whose losing streak extended to five games on Sunday at Tech CU Arena in San Jose in an overtime loss 5-4.

#2 Either way you slice it the Coachella Valley Firebirds are one of the toughest opponents that the Barracuda have to face on their schedule.

#3 It didn’t take long for San Jose to tack onto their lead as Patrick Bailey scored his fourth as well making it 2-0 less than five minutes in.

#4 In overtime Danil Gushchin took a high-sticking penalty and Coachella Valley took advantage as Shane Wright scored to end the game 5-4.

#5 San Jose will look to snap their losing streak against the Calgary Wranglers on the road at 12 p.m. on Friday.

#1 The difference was two runs and the Texas Rangers Corey Seager was the factor in slugging a two run blast to give the Rangers a leg up for the eventual game three, 3-1 win at Chase Field in Phoenix.

#2 Seager also showed some talent with the glove turning a double play making a sliding stop and it made a defensive difference in the eighth inning preventing the Arizona Diamondbacks from scoring.

#3 Max Scherzer who many thought was all but finished performed in the starter role going three innings, two hits and two walks, while four Ranger relievers mopped up and kept the D-Backs just to one run for the rest of the way.

#4 “This is what you play for. This is where you want to be at this moment,” Seager said after game 3 on Monday night. Seager who won NLCS and World Series MVP in 2020 says he’s a driven player and has been here before.

#5 Game 4 Tuesday night will see the Rangers starting Andrew Heaney (0-0 ERA 6.00) and the Diamondbacks will start Joe Mantiply (2-0 ERA 4.26) first pitch 5:03pm PT at Chase. How do you see this game 4?
