Los Vegas Raiders podcast with Rich Perez: Is Josh McDaniels losing the team; Question on the Raiders focus in letting games get away

Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Tyson Campbell (32) gets a hand on the football to break up an intended pass for the Las Vegas Raiders Devante Adams (17) on Sun Nov 6, 2022 in Jacksonville (AP News photo)

On the Raiders podcast with Rich:

#1 With the Las Vegas Raiders latest loss dropping them to 3-6 they’re playoff hopes looked dashed short of a miracle.

#2 One of the reasons why the Raiders playoff hopes look dimmer and dimmer is just the amount of blown plays and mistake they have made particularly in in their last two road games in New Orleans and Jacksonville.

#3 During training camp first year head coach Josh McDaniels tried to explain to his players the ways of how not to lose. It might be possible that the players forgot that early lesson McDaniels tried to lay down.

#4 The Raiders wide receiver Devante Adams said the Raiders strayed away from what worked earlier in game but the Raiders just couldn’t get any offense going in the second half and quarterback Derek Carr saying serious internal discussions needed to take place.

#5 Those serious discussions that Carr was talking about has to take place and get solved soon enough as the Raiders prepare for Indianapolis Colts for this Sunday at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. The Colts have lost three in a row the Raiders hope to push to extend that losing streak this Sunday.

Raiders lose to struggling Jaguars 27-20

Raiders Lose To Struggling Jaguars 27-20

By Barbara Mason

Last Sunday the Las Vegas Raiders (2-6) got blindsided by the New Orleans Saints 24-0. This Sunday the Raiders were looking to get back on track taking on the Jacksonville Jaguars (3-6) who have had major struggles of their own, one of them being unable to close out games.

They have lost numerous games by a single touchdown coming close far too many times. The Jags broke out of their three game losing streak with a 27-20 win over the Las Vegas Raiders in Jacksonville.

The Raiders were first up on the scoreboard in the opening quarter taking a 7-0 lead. Devante Adams caught a pass from Derek Carr for 25 yards and the lead in this game.

The Raiders would tack on more points in the second quarter off a Daniel Carlson 38 Yd Field goal to take a 10-0 lead. Las Vegas struck again in the second when Carr connected again with Adams this pass for 38 yards and a 17-0 lead. The Raiders were really rolling in the first half of this game.

With 4:50 left in the half the Jaguars got up on the board. A Travis Etienne Jr. one yard romp gave Jacksonville their first touchdown of the game still trailing the Raiders 17-7. Before the quarter ended both kickers added to their respective teams tally. The Raiders Daniel Carlson kicked a 38 yard field goal and the Jaguars Riley Patterson was good for a 44 yard field goal. At the half the score was 20-10.

Jacksonville turned this game around with their first possession in the second half. Christian Kirk caught a seven yard pass for a touchdown and the Jaguars had trimmed the Raiders lead to 20-17. Offensively Las Vegas cooled off having trouble moving the ball at all in the second half.

Jacksonville kept the pressure on scoring in the opening minute of the fourth quarter taking a 24-20 lead, their first of the game. Again it was Etienne Jr. rushing for 5 yards.

With under three minutes left in the game the Raiders had the ball with no time outs but a chance to salvage the game. The Jaguars came up with some great defensive stops and they were able to put an end to their five game losing streak. Jacksonville added insult to injury in the closing minutes of the game with a 48 Yd field goal from Patterson.

The Raiders did get the ball back with 1:01 left on the clock. In that final possession Derek Carr was sacked and intercepted. This was a great comeback win for Jacksonville. The final was 27-20.

It was indeed a tale of two halves. The Raiders had a great first half and a miserable second half. Carr had 223 passing yards in the first half and only 36 yards in the second in a stunning turnaround. Josh Jacobs finished with 67 yards rushing and 20 yards receiving. Devante Adams had a great first half with two touchdowns and 146 yards receiving but not much going on in the second half.

This was an awful loss for Las Vegas who also struggled terribly last week against the Saints. They will take on the Colts next Sunday at Allegiant Stadium in another winnable game at home. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:05 and will air on CBS.

San Francisco 49ers podcast with David Zizmor: Grand jurors say they were followed and surveilled after grand jury report critical of 49ers

Santa Clara Mayor Lisa Gillmor is running against 49ers backed candidate Anthony Becker in the mayoral race for the City of Santa Clara. Gillmor is running for re-election in this Tue Nov 8, 2022 election (Business Journal file photo)

On the 49ers podcast with David:

#1 A grand juror report that said the San Francisco 49ers handling of their legal issues with the City of Santa Clara over their stadium management revenue was called a “hatchet job” and “contained dozens or lies” according to 49ers spokesman Rahul Chandhok. Chandhok said the grand jury had “stacked” the report with Santa Clara Mayor Lisa Gillmor’s allies who the Niners are trying to unseat in the upcoming Tuesday mayoral election. Chandhok said that the grand jury were a “kangaroo court” and “a partisan group of cronies co-opting the justice system” will the voters take the 49ers side or Mayor Gillmor’s side in the grand jury event.

#2 Former San Mateo County Superior Court Judge Quentin Kopp said that Chandhok’s comments are “rife with personal innuendoes.” Kopp said if he was the grand jury judge he would ask the Niners “why they shouldn’t be held in contempt of court?”

#3 There have been members of the grand jury who said they have been followed or surveilled after the 49ers report came out.

San Francisco 49ers podcast with Marko Ukalovic: Could Santa Clara election turn control over to the 49ers?

San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York meets with the media back on Jan 24, 2020 during Super Bowl 54. York has reportedly spent over $3.8 million for the Nov 8th, 2022 Santa Clara Mayoral and City Council election (AP News file photo)

On the 49ers podcast with Marko:

#1 Reports say that the Santa Clara election on Nov 8th could be politically influenced by 49ers CEO Jed York who contributed to the campaign fund donating over $3.8 million through it’s sports franchises and related entities towards electing a new mayor Anthony Becker and five city council members after the York and 49ers had been hounded about paying stadium management revenues to the city over the last few years. The Niners settled with the city for $1.6 million.

#2 The City Council voted to settle the stadium management debt that the 49ers owed Santa Clara but not without much rancor as in that city council meeting Becker was reportedly shouting and cussing at Santa Clara Mayor Lisa Gillmor and city Councilwoman Kathy Watanabe causing them to call a policeman to stand in the meeting chambers for the rest of the meeting.

#3 After learning these reports Marko, how concerned are Santa Clara residents going into this election and could they be concerned that the Mayoral and city council races are heavily influenced by the 49ers and it could go the other way re-electing Gillmor because residents are afraid that the 49ers would have control on the city leadership?

#4 To this week’s action on the field Sunday’s win in Los Angeles over the Rams 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo went to work in the second half after the 49ers were down by four points at half.

#5 The Los Angeles Chargers (4-3) head to Santa Clara for Sunday Night Football on Nov 13th a 5:20 pm kickoff at Levi Stadium. The Chargers have won three of their last four games. How do you see this match up this Sunday night.
