On the Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Rich Perez:

#1 In the first half of Sunday’s game at Allegiant Stadium the Las Vegas Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs were knotted up 14-14 and it looked as if the Raiders were going gain ground on the Chiefs.

#2 Raiders quarterback Aidan O’Connell had 240 yards and a touchdown. O’Connell is the quarterback that the Raiders are hoping that could be their future.

#3 Raiders running back Josh Jacobs with 20 carries, 110 yards, and one touchdown. He was key in the first half in the Raiders scoring.

#4 Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers six receptions, 79 yards, one touchdown, the Raiders played good enough to win this game but as we were talking in the second half the Chiefs had a game plan but talking about Meyers he picked up a touchdown in this one on Sunday.

#5 The Raiders have the bye week on Sun Dec 3 and will return to action in Las Vegas on Sun Dec 10th against the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings are without Kirk Cousins at quarterback and are starting are starting Josh Dobbs. The Vikings have won five of their last six games. Raiders Unable to Handle Chiefs Offense Losing their Seventh Game 31-17

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes (15) looks for a receiver against the Las Vegas Raiders in first half action at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Sun Nov 26, 2023 (AP News)

By Barbara Mason

The Las Vegas Raiders (5-7) had it all going on through the opening quarter Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs (8-3). They hung onto a 14 point lead through the second quarter of football. The Chiefs got their offense going at 6:38 in the second tying up the game at 14 going into half time. They never looked back beating the Raiders 31-17

Sunday afternoon the Raiders took on the Chiefs in Kansas City. The Raiders came into this game after losing last week to the Miami Dolphins in a close game 20-13. This was a one point game going into the fourth quarter. The Dolphins hit two field goals in the fourth quarter which sealed the game. The Chiefs also lost last week against the Philadelphia Eagles 21-17.

Game recap: The first quarter of this game was all Raiders. Las Vegas had the only score in the opening quarter of this game. Aiden O’Connell found Jakobi Meyers at 9:32 for 18 yards and the touchdown giving the Raiders the early 7-0 lead.

The Raiders extended their lead in the second quarter with a second touchdown at 12:41, this one on the ground. Running back Josh Jacobs rushed for 63 yards for the 14-0 lead. Las Vegas had scored 14 unanswered points.

Mid-way through the second quarter there was a real energy reversal. The sleeping giant began to flex it’s muscle. At 6:38 Isiah Pacheco rushed for one yard and the Chiefs first touchdown of the game.

Kansas City scored a second touchdown just seconds before the half to tie up the game at 14. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes found Justin Watson for 3 yards and it was now the Chiefs scoring 14 unanswered points.

The Chiefs scored both of those touchdowns with ease which was troublesome for the Raiders. This offense is lethal when it gets going and the second half of the second quarter was proof of that. The Raiders would have a lot of work to do in the second half. The Kansas City offense had come to life and stopping them would be no small feat.

Kansas City got the ball to start the second half. They scored at 9:15 taking their first lead of the game 21-14. Isiah Pacheco scored his second rushing touchdown of the game, another one yard rush. With a little over two minutes left in the quarter, the Raiders Daniel Carlson kicked a 34 Yd Field Goal. They still had the Chiefs in their sites trailing 21-17 going into the fourth quarter but they had to find a way to stop the offensive surge the Chiefs were bringing.

Kansas City wasted no time as the fourth quarter got underway. At 13:40 they scored their fourth touchdown of the day extending their lead to 28-17. This time Mahomes found Rashee Rice for 39 yards.

The Raiders were helpless trying to stop this power house offense. Las Vegas desperately needed points but they also needed stops which were non-existent since the start of the second half.

With 9:34 left in the game there was still plenty of time but Las Vegas had to tighten up offensively and defensively. They were making things far too easy for the Chiefs. They had to get the Chiefs off the field and they did just that putting some great pressure on Kansas City to get the ball back with 7:29 left in the game. It was crunch time for Las Vegas.

Las Vegas attempted a fourth and one on their own 20 yard line in the fourth quarter and failed, a huge stop for Kansas City. The Chiefs now had the ball on the Las Vegas 20 yard line hungry for another score.

They did not get the touchdown due to numerous penalties but settled for a Harrison Butker 32 yard field goal. The Chiefs now had a 31-17 lead and with 2:30 left on the clock time was running out for the Raiders. Kansas City was on their way to their eighth win of the season and the Raiders season record dropped to 5-7.

The Raiders did not get penalized the entire game nor did they have any turnovers. Las Vegas had more rushing yards than the Chiefs but could not handle the red hot offense of Kansas City particularly their passing game. Aidan O’Connell threw for 248 yards and one touchdown and no interceptions. The Raiders had 123 rushing yards with 110 yards credited to Jacobs.

Next up for Las Vegas will be the Minnesota Vikings on December 10th after their bye week. They will take on the Vikings at Allegiant Stadium with kickoff scheduled for 1:05 PM.

Headline Sports with Charlie O podcast: Pissed-burgh Steelers carry fight into dressing room after last game; Jets sticking with QB Boyle as Rogers rehabs; plus more news

Pittsburgh Steelers Dionte Johnson got into a heated argument with teammate Minkah Fitzpatrick and nearly got into a brawl before teammates Cameron Heyward and TJ Watt broke up the altercation after a loss to the Cleveland Browns in Cleveland on Sun Nov 19, 2023 (photo from Sportswire)

On Headline Sports podcast with Charlie O:

#1 What has happened on the Pittsburgh Steelers after the Steelers have won four straight games they have dropped their last two games and frustrations are starting to heat up after last Sunday’s 13-10 loss to the Cleveland Browns were no different. The Steelers Dionte Johnson and Minkah Fitzpatrick nearly got into a fight in the dressing room after the game but teammates Cameron Heyward and TJ Watt broke it up. Head coach Mike Tomlin had a team meeting afterwards and emphasized that they had to work as a team and move on.

#2 Despite getting clobbered by the Miami Dolphins on Friday Night Football 34-13 the New York Jets are staying with starting quarterback Tim Boyle. The Jets starting quarterback Aaron Rogers is back fulltime with the team trying to recover from his Achilles tendon injury. Rogers is expected back in the coming weeks but for now Boyle is the starting quarterback for New York.

#3 It was also announced that Rogers would be under center for the Jets when the Jets come calling in Green Bay in the 2014 season. Rogers was the former longtime quarterback for the Packers. A Rogers return would be a moment that Green Bay fans would be anticipating on as well as the television networks.

#4 Charlie, when you watch Dolphins linebacker Jaelin Phillips come off the line to run a play against the Jets you could see the back of his right thigh pop and he fell to the ground and had to be carted off the field. Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel confirmed that Phillips will be lost for the rest of the season. Running back Raheem Mostert said that the turf field at MetLife Field is trash and they need to get it replaced with real grass.

#5 The Raiders who are in a two game losing skid and took a tough loss against the Dolphins 20-13 in they’re last game are hoping to spring back but they got some bad defensive news as Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby is doubtful because of a knee injury. If Crosby is out of the line up it’s just one less defensive weapon the Raiders would have had to put pressure on Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes this Sunday at Allegiant Stadium.

#1 Joe, talk about San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey’s first half which pretty much single handedly took the Seattle Seahawks out of their game.

Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Tony Renteria: Committed to excellence but not O’Connell; Raiders looking to solve QB question

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Aidan O’Connell (4) takes aim against the Miami Dolphins defense in first half action on Sun Nov 19, 2023 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami (AP News photo)

On Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Tony Renteria:

#1 From the sound of it Tony the Raiders are on the hunt for a quarterback for next season. Indications were after Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce played it safe in the first half against Miami there was talk that the Raiders are not quite settled on quarterback Aidan O’Connell.

#2 Pierce said there are six games left and he’ll have time to evaluate the quarterback situation. The Raiders lost last Sunday in Miami to the Dolphins 20-13.

#3 Tony, is it too soon to judge O’Connell he had that loss against the Dolphins last Sunday but was able to scratch both New York Giants and Jets off the Calendar with two straight wins.

#4 Tony, the Raiders towards the end of the first half recovered a Miami fumble at the Dolphin 32 with 58 second left. The Raiders didn’t elect to pass they kept the ball on the ground with handoffs to Josh Jacobs who got only three yards taking 42 second off the clock. O’Connell threw for two short incomplete passes and got a field goal from kicker Daniel Carlson.

#5 It doesn’t get any easier as the Raiders they take on the Kansas City Chiefs (7-3). The Chiefs lost their last game defeating the Philadelphia Eagles 21-17 last night on Monday Night Football. The Chiefs have lost two of their last three games two questions how do you see this match this Sunday at Allegiant and second will the Swifties and Taylor Swift help as the 11th man or woman as it were?

Las Vegas Raiders Offense Falls Flat Losing to Miami Dolphins 20-13

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (1) is dropped and fumbles the ball by oncoming Las Vegas Raiders linebackers Luke Masterson (59) and Robert Spillane (41) at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Sun Nov 19, 2023 (AP News photo)

By Barbara Mason

The Las Vegas Raiders (5-6) had opportunities all afternoon but could not cash in. They lost to the Miami Dolphins (7-3) 20-13 on Sunday in Miami. Forcing two fumbles plus one interception gave the Raiders a very real chance to win this game. Their offense just would not cooperate missing receivers, and demonstrating inability to move the ball.

Sunday afternoon the Raiders took on the Miami Dolphins and failed to extend their two game winning streak under interim head coach Antonio Pierce. This game was their toughest contest since Pierce took over as head coach.

The Dolphins have a deep offense that begins and ends with Superstar Tyreek Hill. Las Vegas has a defense that really made some noise and it all began with Maxx Crosby who has been very good. The Raiders held the mighty Dolphin offense to just six points in the second half.

Game recap: The Raiders got a huge break in the first quarter recovering a Miami fumble on the Dolphins 30 yard line giving Las Vegas a great scoring opportunity. The Raiders did come away with a field goal, a 34-yard kick from Raiders kicker Daniel Carlson but had given up precious points. They had an early 3-0 lead.

The dangerous Miami offense went to work scoring a touchdown and taking a 7-3 lead as the opening quarter began to run out. The score came as a result of a Dolphin quarterback Tua Tagovailoa pass to Hill for 38 yards. The Raiders answered back as the game clock ran out . With 0:01 on the clock Raiders quarterback Aidan O’Connell connected with Davante Adams for 46 yards and a 10-7 Raider lead.

At 2:28 in the second quarter the Dolphin offense struck again. This time Tagovailoa found Salvon Ahmed for 11 yards giving the lead back to the Dolphins. The Raiders would pull closer, once again with seconds left on the clock before the half.

Carlson would kick a 47 yard field goal. Miami would take a slim 14-13 lead into the locker room. Las Vegas had scored three times in the first half, two of them with seconds left in both the first and the second quarters. Unfortunately both of those late quarter scores resulted in field goals. The second Raider field goal came as a result of a second Miami fumble and again Las Vegas settled for a field goal. There were too many squandered points for the Raiders so far in this game.

The Raiders kept the Dolphins out of the end zone in the third quarter but Miami did score two field goals. Miami kicker Jason Sanders kicked the first, a 41 yard field goal at 5:26. The third quarter would come to an end with another Sanders kick, this one a 51 yard field goal.

This was his first 50 yard plus field goal of the season. He had missed one earlier in this game. The Dolphins now held a 20-13 lead but the Raiders had continued to keep this game a one score game.

Neither team scored in the fourth quarter. The final was 20-13 in favor of the Dolphins. Las Vegas had so many opportunities in this game. They left a boatload of points out on the field; their offense was sketchy for much of the game.

O’Connell had a tough day with only one touchdown and three interceptions. He threw for 271 yards and was 24 of 41. Josh Jacobs had only 39 rushing yards. O’Connell targeted a wide open Adams several times but both were overthrown.

Las Vegas had their chances in this game forcing two Miami fumbles and one interception. They kept the Dolphins out of the end zone for the entire second half. This was a winnable game for Las Vegas that evaded them.

The Raiders have a tough game in front of them next Sunday taking on the Kansas City Chiefs. They had a rare chance to beat an excellent team today but did not take advantage of it. They will be home in Las Vegas for this next game. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:25 PM.
