#1 Jessica, the Baltimore Orioles right hander Zach Eflin is out with a shoulder injury and was placed on the 15 day IL. Eflin was scheduled to pitch on Wednesday against the New York Mets to close out the series. Eflin felt shoulder soreness and had to sit that game out.

#2 After the Atlanta Braves third baseman Austin Riley broke his hand and said “I hate that I’m going to be out, not be out there competing with the guys. I also understand it’s part of the game. Injuries happen.” The Braves signed Gio Urshela who was released by the Detroit Tigers on Sunday. Urshela was hitting .243 with five home runs.

#3 New York Yankees pitcher Luis Gil left Tuesday’s game against the Cleveland Guardians in the fourth inning of a 9-5 loss. Gil has signaled for the trainer when he threw a change up to the Guardian Jose Ramirez and had to leave because of lower back tightness. Dr. David Trofa said that Gil would be reassessed again on Wednesday.

#4 Ten years ago former San Francisco Giants pitcher Johnny Cueto helped the Giants win a World Series. Fast forward Cueto will get the call at age 38 years on Wednesday night for the Los Angeles Angels. Angels manager Ron Washington called up Cueto on Tuesday and said that he hopes Cueto will stick around and also influence the younger players.

#5 Tuesday the Chicago Cubs Cody Bellinger hit a two run double and Danby Swanson hit a home run to help the Cubs defeat the Detroit Tigers 3-1. Bellinger was 2-4 and the Cubs got good pitching from Javier Assad 5.2 innings, allowing one run and six hits.

#1 New York Mets Luis Severino said that the New York Yankees have only two good hitters and did not face his former team in June when the Mets faced the Yankees in a two game series at Citi Field in Queens. In a group text with Yankee players that said that Severino was afraid of them. Severino came back and said, “I’m not afraid of you. You guys only have two good hitters .

#2 After taking a loss to the WNBA All Star team at the WNBA All Star break last week Team USA came back and defeated Germany quite handedly 84-57 in US women’s Olympic basketball in London. Germany and Team USA will face off again on Aug 4th in Paris.

#3 The San Francisco 49ers fully intend to sign wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk. 49ers general manager John Lynch said he intends to keep Aiyuk. Aiyuk formally requested a trade from the 49ers last week the 49ers are steadfast as Aiyuk is under contract for one more season and hope to get him an extension soon or at least the first pre season game.

#4 LeBron James helped Team USA with a win over Germany 92-88 on Monday night at age 39. He finished with 20 points, six rebounds, and four assists. LeBron said that they have a group of guys, Joel Embiid, Stephen Curry, and when Kevin Durant returns.

#5 Team USA Women’s gets the win over Germany but still does their loss to the WNBA All Stars say they prove that leaving out Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark could have been a bad decision by the coaching staff or was there pressure from the veterans to keep them off because of their rookie status?

#1 Jessica, former Golden State Warrior Klay Thompson who is joining the Dallas Mavericks next season as a breaking story on Monday. Thompson joins Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving, and Derrick Lively II. The Mavericks got to the Finals last season but lost to the Boston Celtics in five games. The Mavericks with Thompson joining them aim to finish the job next season.

#2 Thompson’s father Mychal Thompson said he was disappointed that his son Klay didn’t sign with the Los Angeles Lakers. It came down to the Lakers and Mavericks and Klay got the 3 year $50 million offer and it was just too good to pass up. Still Mychal the former Laker would have loved to see Klay finish up his career with the Lakers.

#3 Former San Francisco 49ers safety Tashaun Gipson has been suspended six games by the NFL for PED use. Gipson was a big help for the 49ers in his two seasons helping the younger defensive backs and helped with tips for the defense. Gipson had a good year in 2023 with 60 tackles, had one sack, one interceptions. In 2022 Gipson had 61 tackles and five interceptions.

#4 Jessica, on Monday the New York Mets outfielder Brandon Mimmo around 5 in the morning in his hotel room in Washington DC fell and cut his head. He wasn’t feeling well and was cramping, fainted and fell. When he came to he didn’t know why he was on the floor with a bloody forehead and called Mets trainer who looked him over and took him for tests. Mimmo had tests done he was negative for a concussion, he had a CT scan done and had a bandage on his head it was reported he got a pretty big cut. He spoke to reporters before Monday’s game and said he was sitting out the game as a precaution.

#5 The 2024 Home Run Derby at Globe Life has some rule changes. The hitter will get 40 pitches to try and convert the ball for home runs. The Derby has been a timed tournament since the 2015 All Star Home Run Derby. So it’s up to the pitcher to get pitch to the hitter to as many times possible. Last season at the Seattle All Star Game the hitter got 43 pitches. The participants have complained in past derbies that they could be injured taking hard swings while trying to rush themselves against the clock. Hitters in this year’s derby will have three minutes in the first two rounds and and two minutes in the championship rounds.

#1 The Detroit Pistons ownership made the decision to fire first year coach Monty Williams. After signing Williams to a seven year $78 million deal. The Pistons and Williams last season lost 28 games in a row an NBA record and finished with the worst record in the NBA at 14-68. The firing was ordered by ownership Tom Gores and Pistons vice chairman Trajan Langdon.

#2 Gates at Oracle Park in San Francisco opened at 12 noon PT on Thursday where the game between the St Louis Cardinals and San Francisco Giants was shown on the scoreboard at Rickwood Field in Birmingham that started at 4:05pm PT honoring the Negro Leagues and pay tribute to Willie Mays who passed away on Tuesday night.

#3 Jessica, X-Rays show negative as the New York Yankees Aaron Judge was hit by a 94.1 MPH fast ball on his left hand by Baltimore Orioles starter Albert Suarez on Tuesday night where the Yankees won it 4-2. Judge left the next inning X-Rays and a CT scan showed Judge was negative for fractures and returned to action on Thursday night.

#4 NHL Finals could have a change of pace. First the Florida Panthers took a 3-0 series lead then the Edmonton Oilers won game 4 defeating the Panthers 8-1 and in game 5 the Oilers won it 5-3 as the Panthers now ahead by one game 3-2. The Oilers can tie up the series Friday in Edmonton in game six.

#5 The Los Angeles Sparks forward Cameron Brink tore her ACL and will miss the rest of the WNBA season. Brink got the injury in the left knee against the Connecticut Sun. The Sparks announced the injury on Wednesday to the press. Brink was the No.2 selection in the 2024 draft. Brink had to stop because of the pain and was carried to the locker room.

#1 The Boston Celtics host the Dallas Mavericks in game 1 of the NBA Finals. One of the advantages that the Celtics have opening up these Finals is that they home court advantage and have two top star shooters in Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum.

#2 The Mavericks in their own right have Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving both who scored 36 points each against the Minnesota Timberwolves in game 5 on Thursday to advance to the Finals.

#3 How often would you expect that a two time Cy Young winner in San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Blake Snell who started with his new team to go out twice with a groin injury. Snell when he does make a start had been lit up and has a 0-3 record and a large ERA at 9.51.

#4 The last player to be suspended for life in baseball was former Cincinnati Reds manager Pete Rose now baseball is cracking down again suspending four players and giving a lifetime ban to San Diego Padres minor league infielder Tucupita Marcana for making 387 bets totaling $150,000.

#5 Jessica, the NHL Stanley Cup Finals between the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers. The Oilers took out the Dallas Stars in the Western Conference Finals 4-2 and the Panthers took out the New York Rangers 4-2 in the Eastern Conference Finals. #1 Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority are not commenting regarding the $100,000 sponsorships that the Las Vegas Aces players received. They were presented the sponsorship from Steven Hill president from the LVCVA when he spoke to the players in the dressing room on a video that took the players by surprise. There had been questions of the validity of the sponsorship if this puts the Aces over the salary cap space but the Aces head coach Becky Hammonds said that the Aces had nothing to do with the sponsorships and that the $100,000 shouldn’t go against the salary cap. The Aces are two time WNBA Champions and have brought good business in for the city of Las Vegas.

#2 The Boston Celtics center Kristaps Porzingis is trying to return for game 4 against the Indiana Pacers on Monday night Porzingis is suffering from a soleus strain of his right calf. Porzingis has been doing exercises to improve the calf and some on court workouts.

#3 From a top notch college player from Iowa to signing with the Indiana Fever to getting some great endorsement deals Caitlin Clark signed with Wilson. Clark’s signature appears on three different Wilson basketballs  titled Threes Up, Record Breaker and Crowd Maestro.

#4 The Philadelphia Phillies Ranger Saurez continues to baffle opposing hitter striking out ten hitters over seven innings pitched and improved to 9-0 with a 5-2 win over the Texas Rangers. The win gives the Phils their 35th win of the season a big league best so far.

#5 The Celtics Jayson Tatum scored 36 points and scored ten points in overtime. Jaylen Brown tied up the game in regulation with 6.1 seconds left as the Celtics beat the Indiana Pacers in game 1 of the third round of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals 133-128 at TD Garden in Boston. Game 2 is tonight at 5:00pm at the Boston Garden.

#1 NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly presented the flip card revealing the number one draft pick and the San Jose Sharks who had the league’s worst record at 19-54-9. The Sharks are looking at Macklin Celebrini the first overall draft pick in the NHL draft.

#2 The Boston Celtics went through the Cleveland Cavaliers like butter on Tuesday night in Boston with a 25 point 120-95 win to take game 1 of the NBA second round playoffs. The Celtics got top scoring from Jaylen Brown with 32 points and Derrick White hit seven three pointers.

#3 The WNBA has committed for the next two seasons to spend $58 million for charter for the league travel as opposed to commercial flying. This would be full time charter flight service. With the arrival of Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever as the face of the league the WNBA plans on stepping it up and taking care of it’s players with charter flights that means no more standing in lines at the ticket counter, at security and with other passengers to board a flight. They’ll be treated truly like a professional team.

#4 The frustration of the Denver Nuggets is starting show. The Nuggets who lost the first two games of this second round of the playoffs to the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Nuggets saw team leader Jamal Murray throw a towel and then a heat pack toward an official and ended up getting fined $100,000 and was lucky he didn’t get suspended for a game. The toss came while live action was taking place with 4:41 was remaining in the second quarter.

#5 On Tuesday the Texas Rangers didn’t hold back scoring ten runs in the top of the second inning against the Oakland A’s at the Oakland Coliseum. The Rangers 15-8 win gives them their fourth straight win and the A’s their third straight loss. The Rangers and A’s split both ends of a doubleheader with the A’s taking the front game and

#1 Jessica, on New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone’s ejection on Monday. Boone had just come out of the dugout to question plate umpire Hunter Wendelstedt about a ball that hit Oakland A’s hitter Esteury Ruiz’s foot and on a swing. Once back in the dugout Wendelstedt had warned Boone about saying anything further when a fan said something and Wendelsted threw out Boone who said nothing.

#2 The A’s who were the worst team in baseball last season has improved slightly. They won two straight series which didn’t happen much last season. They did get swept by the Cleveland Guardians who are the hottest team in baseball. But the A’s surprised everybody with a 2-0 shutout win over the Yankees on Monday, they maintain third place and are three games back in the AL West.

#3 The Chicago White Sox said before the season that they would be an improved team and they would compete but they have lost nine of their last ten games and are dead last in the American League Central winning on three games so far this season against 19 loses. The Sox have an atrocious road record winning only one game against 12 loses.

#4 Turning to the NBA, Los Angeles Lakers LeBron James had lots to say about the officiating after last Monday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves in a game 2 loss 101-99. LeBron was called for having his foot on the three point line and got only two points losing the three points in a close game. He also was called out of bounds in a game against the Golden State Warriors. LeBron questioned why the NBA has a replay center for when calls are going to stand like those ones?

#5 Jessica, the subject was raised about the Golden State Warriors possibly trading Stephen Curry. The Warriors who lost a play in game against the Sacramento Kings to be eliminated from post season. Curry scored only 22 points and teammate Klay Thompson had 0 points. The Warriors might even consider trading Draymond Green. It looks like Golden State is going to break up that old gang and try and get younger.

#1 Former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Julio Urias has been charged with five misdemeanors of domestic violence charges. The charges were filed in Los Angeles Superior Court at the city attorney’s office on Monday. One count of assault and two counts of domestic battery involving a dating relationship. Urias was arrested back on Sep 3 for suspicion of felony domestic violence where eyewitnesses at LAFC MLS game saw Urias having an altercation with his wife. Urias was arrested and posted bail $50,000 the next day.

#2 Houston Astros left hand pitcher Framber Valdez was placed on those 15 day injured list due to elbow soreness. Astros manager Joe Espada said that Valdez will miss at least a couple of starts. Espada said that the club will be watching the inflammation and hopes that it will go down.

#3 Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher David Bednar a two time All Star has been struggling. Bednar a right hander blew a save opportunity on Tuesday against the Detroit Tigers who rallied in a 5-3 win. After the game Pirates first baseman Randy Tellez said after blowing the lead that it’s something you just don’t do and that as a team they have to do better.

#4 Chicago White Sox third baseman Yoan Moncada was helped off the field after hitting a grounder and pulled up injured and injured his hip and fell short of the first base bag. Cleveland Guardians first baseman Josh Naylor tried to talk an comfort Moncada as he was on the ground in pain.

#5 Boston Red Sox shortstop Trevor Story’s season is over after injuring his shoulder. Story will need surgery for a fractured glenoid. Baseball chief officer Craig Breslow said Story will be on the injured list for the next six weeks. Story was in a sling when he and his teammates were introduced at the pre game ceremonies.

#1 Ice Cube made a big offer to Iowa’s Caitlin Clark to play in the Big 3 league for $5 million. Ice Cube wanted to keep the offer private until the NCAA Tournament was over but since the news leaked out Cube confirmed the news,  “But I won’t deny what’s now already out there: BIG3 made a historic offer to Caitlin Clark. Why wouldn’t we? Caitlin is a generational athlete who can achieve tremendous success in the BIG3.”

#2 NCAA president Charlie Baker says he’s banning prop bets that something anything can go wrong since the bet is not about the final score of the game but based on how many three pointers are converted or missed or how many free throws are converted or missed. Baker says it’s big problem and temptation that could throw games or athletes could get harassed about scoring too many or too little points, “Sports betting issues are on the rise across the country with prop bets continuing to threaten the integrity and competition and leading to student athletes and professional athletes getting harassed. The NCAA has been working with states to deal with these threats and many are responding by banning college prop bets,” Baker read in a statement.

#3 The Utah Utes women’s basketball team switched hotels from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho to Spokane after players, marching band members, cheerleaders were walking from a restaurant near their hotel in Coeur d’Alene. About 100 people or witnesses said two trucks with a confederate flags revving it’s engines with the drivers saying the N word to the Utes traveling party while driving by them. The traveling party felt threatened and called it a hate crime and made a police report. Authorities are looking for the suspects and plan to prosecute them for civil rights violations and hate crimes.

#4 Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes are a drawing card for a national television audience. The Hawkeyes with Clark have drawn 3.23 million viewers as the games are telecasted on ABC. The Hawkeyes played Holy Cross last Saturday and it was the highest viewed women’s game in NCAA history.

#5 The Iowa State Cyclones were eliminated by the Stanford Cardinal last Sunday in the second round of the Women’s Tournament 87-81. The Cardinal are rolling moving to the third round they face NC State on Friday night. In the game against Iowa State the Cyclones kept Cameron Brink under wraps with just eight points it was Kiki Iriafen who led with a huge 41 points for Stanford.
