That’s Amaury’s Podcast, News, and Commentary: Texans and Dolphins won’t kick out players who didn’t stand for anthem; D-Backs bring back the golf cart; A’s Maxwell–How will he cope?

That’s Amaury’s Podcast (where you get all the latest):

1 Houston Texans had said according to the players agents that players who refused to stand for the anthem last season will not be signed for this season, the Texans later said the agents got it all wrong and that what they said was “false and without merit.” The Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross won’t make players stand for the anthem. Ross had said during a Jackie Robinson event honoring the former Brooklyn Dodger that the players have to stand for the anthem this season as he told the NY Daily News. Ross later said he never told the NY Daily News that the players had to stand for the anthem.

2 The Arizona Diamondbacks are bringing back the golf cart. Do you believe bringing pitchers in from the bullpen by cart will really speed up the game and make that much up in time?

3 Thing aren’t going well for Oakland Athletics’ catcher Bruce Maxwell during February 23’s Cactus League opener. He took a back swing by the Angels’ Jerry Marte after less than a week he got back into the lineup.

4 A’s need to stay healthy. How key will it be for the A’s to come into spring had some injuries with Matt Chapman, Jorge Mateo, Grant Holmes, Rento Nunez, and Sean Manea, who were day-to-day at some point this spring?

5 The A’s released 34-year-old Brandon Moss, who said he would consider retiring if a big league club wouldn’t sign him.

Golden State Warriors podcast with David Zizmor: Warriors come in with five-game win streak, host Brooklyn tonight

On the Warriors Podcast with David Zizmor:

In their last game, the Warriors defeated the Atlanta Hawks 114-109, but the Warriors had to work for it. Stephen Curry hurt his ankle in the second quarter, scored 15, but left in the third quarter. Curry stopped off on his way back to Oakland at Augusta at the Masters for a couple of days of golf and knowing he’s on the links and is scheduled to be in the lineup tonight against the Brooklyn Nets at Oracle Arena.

The Warriors had three days off and they might rest some of their starters against Brooklyn and it’s not only against a team like the Nets, but any other NBA team if they can rest their players, they will take advantage of it if they have a big lead in hand. The Nets are not a good team and nowhere near the challenge that the Portland Trailblazers, who the Warriors faced on Friday night.

Stanford Cardinal Men’s Basketball Podcast with Matt Harrington: The Sean Miller story was the biggest distraction on Stanford’s road trip

zimbio.com photo file: Arizona Wildcats’ head coach Sean Miller made his return to the bench last Thursday against Stanford. Miller has denied that he offered to pay Wildcats’ Deandre Ayton $100,000 to come play for the school.

On the Stanford Cardinal Men’s Basketball Podcast with Matt Harrington:

Stanford’s timing to be at the University of Arizona last Thursday was all the rage in the news and sports media world. UA is under FBI investigation and the Wildcats head coach Sean Miller, who is accused in a wiretap, according to ESPN; that he offered Deandre Ayton $100,000. Miller did not coach last week Saturday against Oregon, but his return to the bench Thursday was one for the books.

Before the media scrum who were trying to get a quote from Miller reporters even from major news organizations were covering the Miller story and it was Miller’s first game since the story broke and all reporters wanted to know if Miller did offer Ayton $100,000. Miller put out an statement saying that the allegations were false and concocted. That he was being defamed by ESPN and that he never offered any money to Ayton. Ayton also said that he never got an offer of any kind from coach Miller.

San Francisco Giants Podcast by Michael Duca: Melancon feels better and it’s assured he will have a better season; Sanchez will see a lot of Sacramento this season; Lots of flu this spring, but Pence will be just fine

photo by eastbaytimes.com 2017 file photo: San Francisco Giants reliever Mark Melancon gets ready to deal as he prepares for 2018 in the hopes for a better season than last year

On the Giants podcast with questions for Michael:

1 Giants pitcher Mark Melancon says he’s feeling better and is confident he can finish games. Do you think he has it in the tank to have a better year this year?

2 The ninth inning is on the line. Giants manager Bruce Bochy is confident that Melancon, who signed with the Giants for $62 million for four years and finished with a 4.50 ERA last season, can do the job this season.

3 Melancon, who had pronator surgery, says he looks forward to returning to the mound in 2018 and wants to put 2017 in the rearview mirror.

4 Giants catcher Hector Sanchez is trying to land a roster spot, but with some of the National League’s top catching talent of Buster Posey, Nick Hundley, and Trevor Brown. it looks to be San Francisco’s top three catchers going into 2018, and Sanchez short of hitting like Lou Gehrig, this spring looks to be headed for a whole lot of Sacramento.

5 The flu has been an epidemic for the Los Angeles Dodgers, who had 20 players affected and had to say away from the clubhouse. The Giants more fortunate just to have outfielder Hunter Pence out with the sickness and is expected back soon. Michael says that the epidemic has hit it’s peak and should be tapering off in the coming weeks.

On the San Jose State men’s basketball podcast with Ana:

1. The Spartans lost to the Wolf Pack 80-67 in Reno last Wednesday. They had a single-digit deficit midway through the first half, but they let it slip away. What did Nevada do to stifle the Spartan defense?

2. Despite the Spartans’ loss to the Wolf Pack, the San Jose State men’s basketball Twitter tweeted a sportsmanlike tweet of SJSU’s Jaycee Hillsman and Nevada’s Jordan Caroline side-by-side with smiles on their faces. Can you spare me a few details on two of Champaign’s finest?

3. Spartans junior forward Ryan Welage has come a long way. Athletic director Marie Tuite and head coach Jean Prioleau honored him for his 1,000 points before the San Jose State vs. San Diego State game on Saturday night. Welage was also named to the All-District VIII First Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). What else can you say about Welage and his impact on SJSU?

4. Spartans freshman forward Keith Fisher III dominated on the court with 21 points in the Spartans’ 71-59 loss to the Aztecs at home. What’s in store for Fisher’s future?

5. The Spartans upset the Aggies 64-62 at the Event Center on Wednesday night. How did the players and coaches feel after picking up their fourth win of the season?

6. The Spartans football team began spring practice this week. It’s too early to tell, but what are your thoughts on the players and coaches at the moment?

Stanford Cardinal men’s basketball podcast with Jerry Feitelberg: After narrow win against WSU, Cardinal reboots for Arizona and Sean Miller fiasco tonight

On the Stanford Cardinal Men’s Basketball podcast with Jerry:

1 Stanford Cardinal (15-13) hosted the Washington State Cougars (11-17) had quite a week in the Bay Area beating Cal and just losing to the Cardinal 86-84

2 The Cardinal got past the Cougars in double digits the highest 12 points and finished beating them by two points

3 The Cardinal’s top offensive players Reid Travis, Michael Humphrey, and Dorian Pickens were key in helping the Cardinal get by the Cougars who are the bottom of the Pac 12

4 The Cardinal are in the Tucson to face the Arizona Wildcats as the Wildcats head coach Sean Miller is going to be front and center as the game maybe secondary to the Miller story. The big question is will Miller return to Arizona next season?

San Jose Sharks Podcast with Mary Lisa Walsh: Sharks’ Kane makes all the difference in Oilers win; Next test as Blackhawks come to town on Thursday

@SanJoseSharks photo: from left to right San Jose Sharks injured reserve player Joel Ward, center Willie O’Ree and right Evander Kane all pose in the front offices of the San Jose Sharks on Willie O’Ree Night at SAP Center in San Jose

On the San Jose Podcast with Mary Lisa:

The visiting Edmonton Oilers were unlucky last Tuesday night because the Sharks were coming off some disappointing loses from their most recent road trip losing three out of four. The Sharks picked up Evander Kane from the Buffalo Sabres on Monday, a talented new player to the roster whose been waiting to play for a good team all his career. Kane started out his career way back with the Atlanta Thrashers and he had some much promise there and that he could really do something, but he bounced around to different struggling teams and had some challenges and it never got off the ground for Kane.

This is Kane’s fourth NHL team he previously played for Winnipeg Jets after starting out in Atlanta and then onto Buffalo and now with San Jose. He’s now with a team that might see the results of his hard work. The first period against the Oilers were kind of flat for the team, but in the second period, the Sharks came right out and Kane got had two points with his linemates with a brand new team and really made an impression and played very well in front of the net which sparked the offense in their 5-2 win.

3 Antoine Bibeau (14-11-2) allowed 37 shots was it a matter of Bibeau not getting protection up front or did he just get beat by some skillful shooting

Golden State Warriors Podcast with David Zizmor: Warriors cruise in win past Knickerbockers; get set for Wizards Wednesday night

On the Warriors podcast with David:

The Warriors continue their roll with a 125-111 win on Monday night in New York at Madison Square Garden against the Knicks. For the Warriors, Klay Thompson had 26 points followed by Stephen Curry’s 21 points. You can see the Warriors are starting to turn thing around as the Oklahoma City game was like the big test. You saw them kick it into gear against the Clippers against the Thunder. They really went into overdrive.

They were closer to cruise control in the Knicks game. New York in the first half made the Warriors sweat a little bit and in the third quarter is when the Warriors normally excel ahead of themselves in the last three or four years they just put everything together. The shots just started to come easy, the defense played really well by the time the third quarter was over, the game was kind of out of reach for the Knicks.
