Michelle Richardson’s Final Thoughts Commentary: Cuban needs to step away from the limelight; Meyer should have been fired from Ohio State

ESPN still: Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban answers questions about sexual harassment in the Mavericks front office being interviewed by ESPN’s Rachel Nichols

On Michelle’s Final Thoughts Commentary:

The independent report came out about the Dallas Mavericks and work place culture and the article came out in the expose in Sports Illustrated about the Mavericks organization that it was a hostile work environment of sexual harassment and domestic violence and it was just an old boys club.

Women were just victimized and treated just horribly and Mavericks team owner Mark Cuban appeared on ESPN with Rachel Nichols and I’m going to applaud Rachel she did not let him off the hook she really pressed Cuban. I’ve never seen Mark Cuban without words and he couldn’t say anything. Cuban stuttered and stammered in the interview.

NCAAFB podcast with Michelle Richardson: Old Dominion shocked No. 13 Virginia Tech 49-35; Michigan walk-ons carved out own niches; Some teams honored late loved ones

On the NCAAFB podcast with Michelle:

1. The Old Dominion Monarchs shocked the visiting No. 13 Virginia Tech with a 49-35 upset. Old Dominion quarterback Blake LaRussa came off the bench to throw for 495 yards and four touchdowns.

2. So far, 18 walk-ons have taken Michigan in the first two games of the season. Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh has been pleased with the walk-ons. After all, these guys took the toughest path possible for life-changing opportunities.

3. Once again, college football has proved that it’s more than a game. Iowa State honored the late female golfer Celia Barquin Arozamena (1996-2018) before their game versus Akron, who they defeated 26-13. Also, University of Maryland sported special helmet decals to honor the late offensive lineman Jordan McNair, who was 19 years old and reportedly didn’t get the best care for his heat stroke over the offseason. In addition, four BYU players had jerseys with the last name Kaufusi to honor their paternal grandfather, Petelo Kaufusi, who passed away last week at the age of 79. Seven of Kaufusi’s eight children played college football for BYU or Utah.

San Jose Sharks podcast with Len Shapiro: A look how Karlsson will impact the Sharks in 2018-19

On the Sharks podcast with Len:

#1 The acquisition of  Erik Karlsson from the Ottawa Senators is all the rage in San Jose. What will Karlsson add to the Sharks’ lineup?

#2 Karlsson says he’s worth an eight-year contract. Talk about the deal–Karlsson got to come to San Jose!

#3 Karlsson spent nine years in Ottawa and helped the Sens get close to the Stanley Cup in 2017. The reason why Karlsson left is that he was asking for more than what small market Ottawa could afford.

#4 The Sharks trimmed their roster after Thursday’s game in Anaheim, sending 16 players to juniors and 12 players going to the AHL’s San Jose Barracuda.

#5 Ivan Chekhovich scored twice against the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday night. Chekhovich was sent down. Looks like they want Chekhovich to get more experience in the AHL first.

On the MLB The Show podcast with Matt:

#2 The A’s open a three-game set Friday versus the Minnesota Twins at the Oakland Coliseum. The A’s are in second in the AL Wild Card race and will have to win almost all their remaining games to catch the Yankees. Even at 1 1/2, the Yankees keep pulling away each time the A’s start to get close.

#3 The Houston Astros are closing in to clinch the American League West title. The Astros have a 3 1/2 game lead. The Astros are projected to win 102 at the pace they’re going.

#4 Teams that have already clinched? The Cleveland Indians and Boston Red Sox. Of these two teams, Matt tells us who will go the deepest in the playoffs.

#5 Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig’s home in Encino, Calif. was burglarized for the fourth time. This time the thieves made off with $170,000 in jewelry. Puig was on the field when the theft went down.

#3 The Raiders lost on a game-winning field goal after leading the Broncos by as much as 17 points. Broncos quarterback Casey Keenum helped the Broncos’ down field to set up a score.

San Francisco 49ers podcast with Joe Lami: 49ers will be facing a strong, prepared Chiefs offense this Sunday

On the 49ers podcast with Joe:

#1 The San Francisco 49ers got a big break on a holding call that stopped the visiting Detroit Lions from spotting the ball on the 49ers’ seven-yard line after an interception.

#2 The hold call helped 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to his first win of 2018. He threw 18-26 for 206 yards.

#3 Despite throwing well, Garoppolo got sacked six times. Where was the offensive line and protection for Jimmy G?

#4 Does it look like Josh Gordon at wide receiver for the 49ers will be a regular?

#5 The 49ers’ next opponent is the Kansas City Chiefs. This team is not the Detroit Lions. The Chiefs are a very prepared and strong offensive team. The 49ers will have to key in on the Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes.

Oakland A’s podcast with Joey Friedman: No mercy rule as A’s circle the bases all afternoon against Angels

On the A’s podcast with Joey:

#1 There’s no mercy rule and the Los Angeles Angels badly needed it during this series with the Oakland A’s. On Wednesday, the A’s treated the Angels like it was some kind of sandlot game with a 10-0 win. The next day, Thursday, the A’s wore out the Angels 21-3.

#2 Angels manager Mike Scioscia, who is rumored to be close to announcing his retirement, had to wish that would come sooner after the A’s wasted no time scoring runs, five in the third, seven in the fourth inning, six in the sixth, and three more in the seventh.

#3 The Angels’ only bright spot was a home run in the sixth by Mike Trout off A’s pitcher Edwin Jackson, but that was a blip on the Angels’ scoring radar.

#4 The A’s lost four of the last five games before the series with the Angels. The A’s showed us in the last two games that they can break out the bats giving the A’s that confidence again.

#5 The A’s host the Twins for three. The Twins are second in the AL Central, but not in the Wild Card hunt.

Oakland Raiders podcast with Tony Renteria: Raiders couldn’t seal the deal in Denver Sunday; look to Miami for first road win

On the Oakland Raiders podcast with Tony:

#1 For the last six seconds of Sunday’s game in Oakland, the Oakland Raiders looked as if they had game in hand with a 19-17 lead, but Denver Broncos kicker Brandon McManus kicked a 36-yard field goal for the 20-19 win at Sports Authority Field.

#2 The Broncos led by quarterback Casey Kennum led the Broncos down the field with just 1:58 left in the game, Kennum threw to Tom Patrick for 26 yards in the closing moments of the game to get the ball and McManus into field goal range for the winning score.

#3 Tony talks about some of the numbers starting for Raiders quarterback Derek Carr going 29-32 for 288 yards, one touchdown and one sack. Impressive outing for Carr who did all he could do to win in the Raiders’ first road game.

#4 Wide receiver Amari Cooper tallied up some yards with 10 receptions for 116 yards. Although Cooper didn’t get a touchdown, he averaged 11 yards and topped the team for total yards.

#5 The Raiders get set for their next meeting against the Miami Dolphins, the Dolphins are 2-0 and have Ryan Tannehill, who’s averaging 199 yards with four touchdowns on the year. Tannehill and the Dolphins have been fierce. Will the Raiders defense have their hands full this Sunday? Tony takes a look.
