#1 The Tampa Bay Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy and the New York Islanders Thomas Greiss were top stars as both teams played to a 0-0 regulation battle and forced a shootout when Victor Hedman scored the game winner for Tampa Bay.

#2 The Washington Capitals tipped the Calgary Flames 4-3 Evgeny Kuznetsov got the go ahead goal with 57 seconds left and the Caps snapped their seven game losing streak.

#3 Carolina rolled over the Vegas Golden Knights 5-2. Jordan Martinook got the go ahead goal for the Hurricanes. It was Martinook’s first go ahead goal since signing an extension with the Canes.

#4 Viktor Arvidsson scored twice for the Nashville Predators and the Preds scored all of their four goals in the third period to top the Florida Panthers 4-1.

#5 The Pittsburgh Penguins Bryan Rust and Jake Guentzel each had two goals in their victory over the Ottawa Senators on Friday night 5-3. The Penguins Teddy Blueger pick up his first NHL goal and the Pens goaltender Casey DeSmith saved 37 shots.

#1 It’s down to just 30 more games after the NHL All Star break as the Sharks most likely will coast to post season.

#2 The Sharks will be playing in their 14th playoff in 15 seasons in April quite an accomplishment for the franchise.

#3 The Sharks are scheduled to play 15 of it’s next 25 games in San Jose and can take advantage of home ice.

#4  The Sharks goaltender Martin Jones hopes to improve his goals against 2.98 going into the second part of the season. He’s had a game where he gave up six goals in a Sharks 7-6 win January 22 against the Washington Caps.

#5 Sharks host the Arizona Coyotes last time the clubs met Jan 16th the Yotes got a two goal win over the Sharks 5-3. The Sharks again are looking to protect the front of the net but also Jones looking to shut the Coyotes offense down.

#1 The Cardinal (10-10) came off a loss to the Utah Utes prior to last Saturday’s game. With the Colorado Buffaloes (11-8) and the Cardinal, who came in with some motivation, pulled off a win 75-62.

#2 Dorian Pickens was key for Stanford’s last season’s lead as he led with 18 points and the Cardinal who behind 16 points came back against Colorado showing the Cardinal trying win these games against Colorado. The Buffaloes rattled off six points with Tyler Bey’s help.

#3 Cormac Ryan did not play. He continues to sit out with ankle concerns.

#4 Sophomore Oscar Da Silva scored all of Stanford’s first eight points, which included a pair of threes in the first five minutes.

#5 The Cardinal next head to Berkeley to take on Cal on February 3rd in the first of three road games.

#3 The Milwaukee Bucks got by a tough Toronto Raptors team. Giannis Antetokounmpo led the Bucks in scoring with 19 points in the 105-92 win in Toronto on Thursday night.

#4 The Philadelphia 76ers got past the Golden State Warriors 113-104 in Oakland on Thursday night. The Sixers Joel Emiid led with 26 points. The win for the Sixers snapped Golden State’s 11 game win streak.

#5 The Lakers and Clippers went down to the wire in LA and into overtime on Thursday night. The Lakers outlasted the Clippers 123-120 in OT. LeBron James had 24 points, 14 rebounds and nine assists in his return to action.

#5 Atlanta International Airport has been congested with Super Bowl travel, but with this week’s harsh weather conditions, there has been cancellations. On Monday, there were 179 flights cancelled.

#1 Maroon 5 has decided to forgo the traditional pregame Super Bowl LIII presser because of the number of other groups who have chosen not to participate in the halftime entertainment show due to the NFL’s policy about taking a knee.

#2 Rihanna led the way by telling the NFL that she would not do the Super Bowl halftime show because of the anti-taking a knee policy and said that former San Francisco 49er quarterback Colin Kaepernick had a right to protest against police brutality and discrimination that still continues to this day.

#3 Comedian Amy Schumer has asked that Maroon 5 step down from entertaining at halftime for this Sunday’s Super Bowl because of what Kaepernick is doing is making a statement about racial discrimination and unequal justice to minorities and people of color.

#4 The NFL has promised Maroon 5 that they will donate $500,000 to the Big Brothers and Big Sister charity group if the band would entertain at this Sunday’s halftime performance. Adam Levine of Maroon 5 said of the NFL’s donation that he’s thankful for the donation and it would benefit children across the country.

#5 Maroon 5 didn’t want to take any questions about the other artists asking them not to perform and questions about Colin Kaepernick’s stance on racial discrimination in America.

#1 In a two-game series, the Grand Rapids Griffins took game two as they edged the visiting San Jose Barracuda last Saturday 3-2.

#2 The Cuda jumped out ahead with an early 2-0 lead with goals from Alex True and Rourke Chartier. That would be all the scoring San Jose would get for the rest of the evening.

#3 Flilp Zadina and Carter Camper both scored for Grand Rapids to tie it up 2-2 and the Griffins’ Matt Puempel scored the game-winner in the shootout.

#4 The Griffins’ goaltender Harri Setari stopped 24 of 26 shots and the Barracuda Antoine Bibeau stopped 30 of 32.

#5 The Barracuda head to Stockton for this Fri Feb 1st’s contest with the Stockton Heat.
