Headline Sports podcast with Barbara Mason: Will Latin players worry about safety when going home in the wake of the Big Papi shooting?

On the Headline Sports podcast with Barbara Mason:

#1 After Big Papi’s shooting, will other Latin players now be worried and concerned about having to go home for the winter?

#2 It really gives pause for other MLB players who might live in the Dominican Republic, and giving what just happened, they may have to change their habits from going out in public?

#3 The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants rivalry continues last Sunday. The Dodgers’ Max Muncy opened the first inning with a home run and took a long look, which irked Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner and set off some jawing between Bumgarner and Muncy. The Giants open a three-game series with San Diego tonight.

#4 The Boston Bruins saved their season with a convincing win over the St. Louis Blues 5-1 in Game 6 on Sunday in St. Louis that saved the Bruins from elimination.

#5 Oakland Raiders defensive coordinator Paul Guenther, who coached defense that allowed the most points in Raiders history (457). That was what Guenther said his hardest year in coaching.

That’s Amaury’s News and Commentary podcast: Warriors squeak by to live another day as Durant leaves arena on crutches

Warriors On That’s Amaury’s News and Commentary podcast:

#1 The Warriors and Raptors played to a one-point contest 106-105 with the Warriors keeping themselves alive in the Finals trailing Toronto 3-2 in the series and they did it without Kevin Durant towards the end of the game.

#2 An unlucky shot by the Raptors’ Kyle Lowry that didn’t go in ended up forcing a Game 6 and a possible elimination game for Toronto.

#3 But it was a big offensive night for the Warriors’ Stephen Curry, who led Golden State with 31 points, followed by splash brother Klay Thompson, who finished with 26.

#4 The big question is will Durant be able to return for Game 6 and how badly do the Warriors need him back in the lineup considering risking more damage to his already injured calf?

#5 So Game 6 will definitely wind up being the last home game ever for the Golden State Warriors at Oracle Arena, a building they played in since 1966.

That’s Amaury’s News and Commentary podcast: Very possible Big Papi was a target of a hit; Resting comfortably in Boston hospital

ap photo: Fans at walk past a photograph of Boston Red Sox’s David Ortiz before a baseball game at Fenway Park in Boston, Oct. 1, 2016.

On That’s Amaury’s News and Commentary podcast with Amaury Pi-Gonzalez:

Big Papi (David Ortiz) is the face of those World’s Championships Boston Red Sox teams who won three World Series. In the Dominican Republic, he’s almost like a God, he could probably run for president and win. Let’s face it, Ortiz can run for president and win. Ortiz is an idol and the bad guys know that Ortiz had money there are kidnapping and robberies there and there really isn’t any solid proof why he got shot, but his publicist said that this was a hit job.

I have talked to Dominicans and it looks like a hit job it was premediated and these two guys came on motorcycles and they stopped by the bar restaurant that Big Papi was seated at. They shot Ortiz in the back and the other friend, whose a famous news anchor in the Dominican Republic, Ortiz was with.

Ortiz is resting in a Boston hospital resting after a long surgery. Doctors reportedly removed part of his spleen and liver and it has been reported that Ortiz is not out of the woods yet. Eventually, Ortiz will have to go through therapy and then he will probably have therapy for his mental well-being after going through something like this. One of the two suspects who fell of their motorcycle was caught by witnesses and beaten before police came and arrested him and he had confessed to the crime.

On the A’s podcast with Charlie O:

#1 The Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Charlie Morton stayed undefeated with a 6-2 win over the visiting Oakland A’s at Tropicana Field. Morton improved his record to a perfect 8-0, 2.10 ERA.

#2 The Rays improved their overall record in first place in the AL East, a half game up on the New York Yankees.

#3 The Rays also have won six of their last seven games and are the hottest team in baseball 41-24.

#4  The exhausted A’s didn’t get into Florida until 3 AM for the 7 PM game. The A’s, who played in Texas on Sunday, had their flight delayed and got out very late for the Tampa Bay touchdown. The team’s plane got damaged, which caused their flight even further. They played a doubleheader on Saturday before leaving Texas on Sunday and manager Bob Melvin said the team had five straight power naps.

#5 A’s starter Mike Fiers (5-3, 4.76 ERA) and the Rays will start Ryne Staneck (0-1 ERA 2.78) , the Rays are getting the best consistent pitching in baseball right now.

San Francisco Giants podcast with Morris Phillips: Muncy’s 1st inning home run leaves MadBum really mad

from sfgate.com: Los Angeles Dodgers’ Max Muncy rounds the bases after hitting a solo home run off of San Francisco Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner during the first inning of a baseball game in San Francisco, Sunday, June 9, 2019.

On the San Francisco Giants podcast with Morris:

#1 San Francisco Giants starter Madison Bumgarner hates it when anyone flips a bat or makes a gesture, and when the Dodgers come to town, there’s that chance that could happen instead of the bat flipping when the Dodgers’ Max Muncy went for a splash hit into McCovey Cove in right field. The fireworks started when Muncy was admiring the homer and Bumgarner told Muncy to run and not watch the ball.

#2 Bumgarner said that he would rather fight than let the new age of hitters flip a bat or admire a home run saying Muncy could do his thing while I do mine.

#3 It was the second game of the three-game set between the two clubs and the bad blood didn’t wait to get started. Muncy said that he look for only a moment and then took two steps and started to run the bases. Muncy also said that if Bumgarner didn’t like him to watch the ball that Bumgarner could go to the ocean and get it.

#4 Things did settled down as no one would score for the rest of the afternoon as the Dodgers got a 1-0 shutout behind the fine pitching of starter Walker Buehler, who went seven innings with a shutout giving up five hits.

#5 The Giants have Monday off, but will host the San Diego Padres on Tuesday night at Oracle with the Padres starting Chris Paddack (4-4, 2.97 ERA), and for the Giants, Tyler Beede (0-2, 8.15 ERA).

photo from sfgate.com: Oakland Athletics first baseman Matt Olson reaches up but is unable to catch the throw to the bag as Texas Rangers’ Delino DeShields (3) sprints to first in the fourth inning of the second baseball game of a doubleheader in Arlington, Texas, Saturday, June 8, 2019. DeShields reached on the throwing error by Athletics third baseman Chad Pinder. …

On the A’s podcast with Joey:

#1 The Oakland A’s got swept in a doubleheader on Saturday by the Texas Rangers after the A’s had won three of their last four games. A’s dropped the first game at the Ball Park in Arlington 10-5 the A’s starter Paul Blackburn struggled to get hitters out.

#2 The Rangers wasted no time scoring three runs in the first and two runs in the third inning to start a 5-0 lead.

#3 The A’s a team never to give in scored four runs in the top of the fourth but their pitching collapsed in the bottom of the fifth surrendering four runs and the Rangers with the eventual win in the front game.

#4 In the night cap the A’s got some good pitching out of starter Chris Bassitt who went 5.2 innings, five hits, three earned runs and five strike outs but it wasn’t enough as the A’s offense couldn’t get Bassitt any runs in the 3-1 loss.

#5 A’s and Rangers mix it up again Sunday in the conclusion of the four game series the A’s will be starting Frankie Montas (7-2 ERA 2.83) and for the Texas Rangers Drew Smyly (1-4 ERA 7.93)

On the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs podcast with Matt:

#1 The St. Louis Blues who are the front runners in the series now evened the series twice in Games 2 and 4. They are certainly aware of the surroundings on the ice and on the series scoreboard too.

#2 Taking a look at some of the key players in the series thus far starting with the Boston Bruins’ Brad Marchand in the postseason with eight goals, 13 assists, and 21 points, David Pastrnak with eight goals, nine assists, and 17 points, just two of the many talented players on the B’s who are now trying to solve the Blues at this time.

#3 Matt talks about St. Louis goaltender Jordan Binnington. While he had a rough Game 3 in which the Bruins beat up on the Blues 7-2, Binnington had two great back-to-back games in Games 4 and 5.

#4 The Bruins are just one game down 3-2 in the series. Do the Bruins feel they’ve got their backs to the wall in an elimination game in St. Louis in Game 6 on Sunday night?

#5 The Blues won two one-goal games in this series. That tells you also a little about their defensive prowess.

San Francisco Giants podcast with Michael Duca: Down goes Frazier, but more like downtown with two homers

On the Giants podcast with Miguel:

#1 For the second game in a row the New York Mets came up winners with a 7-3 on Thursday and won the previous game 7-1 on Wednesday. For a 4-5 road trip.

#2 Todd Frazier put new meaning to the famous term “down goes Frazier” but it’s more like going downtown with two home runs.

#3 The Giants in those two games got lit up including on Wednesday when Tyler Beede pitched five innings for five runs, five earned, four walks, and five strikeouts. Was Tyler off balance or was he grooving the ball?

#4 On Thursday Mark Melancon got lit up in one inning of relief five hits and four runs. Is this a matter of his breaking ball won’t break, they’re seeing his fastball or he just isn’t a mystery?

#5 It’s the Dodgers and the Giants at Oracle Park for the first of three on Friday night. The Dodgers start Clayton Kershaw (5-0, 3.20 ERA), and for the Giants, Drew Pomeranz (1-6, 8.08 ERA), a 6:45 pm start.
