San Francisco Giants podcast with Michael Duca: Kapler working on starting rotation; Giants hitters providing some offense

Former Cincinnati Reds pitcher Anthony DeSclafani seen throwing against the Pittsburgh Pirates last season on Sep 5, 2020 is expected to be in the San Francisco Giants starting rotation this season (AP Sports file photo)

#1 Michael, talk about the starting rotation a little bit, Johnny Cueto, Kevin Gausman, and Anthony DeSclafani. Giants manager Gabe Kapler said the rotation isn’t written in stone yet.

#2 Cueto on Tuesday night struggled in his last outing he and catcher Joey Bart were not on the same page with some of the pitches, pitcher Kevin Gausman got hit more than in his first outing does Kapler have any reason to be concerned at this juncture of spring training?

#3 Kapler is really counting on Gausman who was the Giants number one starter last season and the club signed him up for this year for a qualifying offer of $18.5 million.

#4 The Giants Wednesday had a big offensive day with 15 hits, Alex Dickerson had three hits which included a home run in the eighth inning to centerfield. Austin Slater had two hits and Jason Krizan went 3-3. They can swing in this line up.

#5 Michael, talk about outfielder Mike Yastrzemski who hit .297 with 39 runs, 57 hits and 35 RBIs last season and this spring is hitting .300 with four runs, six hits and a home run.

Sacramento Kings podcast with Jeremiah Salmonson: Kings road trip doesn’t get easier, tip off with Boston tonight

Guard De’Aaron Fox of the Sacramento Kings (5) takes the winning shot over the Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal (left) during the final seconds of Wed Mar 17, 2021 game in Washington (AP News photo)

#1 The Sacramento Kings (15-24) won by just two points on Wednesday night against the Washington Wizards (14-24) 121-119 in a game that was all hands on deck for the Kings six scorers finished in double figures and every point counted to win this game.

#2 De’Aaron Fox went all out scoring 28 points to lead the Kings and getting the winning basket at the end of Wednesday night’s game. Fox has led the Kings in scoring and without a presence like Fox the Kings would offensively be left in bad shape.

#3 Harrison Barnes and Richaun Holmes both finished second in scoring with 18 and they’ve had some good outings for Sacramento this season.

#4 The Kings have won four of their last ten games during that run that included wins against Detroit Pistons, Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets and the Wizards.

#5 Next up the start of a three game road trip starting in Boston on tonight against the Celtics (20-19) it isn’t easy winning in the NBA but the Kings have won some surprising games. The Celtics have been playing .500 ball much like the Kings of late and their coming off a 117-110 loss in Cleveland (14-25) on Wednesday night. Jeremiah how do you see these two teams matching up tonight at the Boston Garden?

San Francisco Giants podcast with Morris Phillips: Could LaStella wind up winning the first base job?; Longoria to play at third Sunday

Former Oakland A’s second baseman Tommy LaStella seen completing the double play against the Houston Astros Alex Bergman (2) in game 4 of last season’s American League Division Series on Oct 8, 2020 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. Now with the possibility of becoming the San Francisco Giants first baseman (AP file photo)

#1 With Brandon Belt out with on the injured the list the Giants are using Tommy LaStella at first base and plan on using him at the position while Belt is out. Giants manager Gabe Kaplan said LaStella has had a nice career and could see him winning the starting job there at first base.

#2 The Giants Wilmer Flores has been also been playing first base which Flores says that’s his best position but Kapler is leaning towars using LaStella at first base.

#3 Kapler plans to use Donavon Solano at third base when Evan Longoria takes a day off. Kapler will have Solano at third base, when LaStella and Flores are in the line up.

#4 San Francisco pitcher Johnny Cueto had shaken off second year Giants catcher Joey Bart to the point that they were taking too much time agreeing on what pitch Cueto was to throw. Cueto said the two are always lost and not a ringing endorsement for Bart who most likely will be sent down to Triple A Sacramento at the beginning of the regular season.

#5 Longoria didn’t play at third on Tuesday because of an inflamed heel, but he can swing a bat and he hit homers from the left and right sides. Kapler said Longoria most likely will get to see action as third baseman on Sunday afternoon.

San Jose Sharks podcast with Len Shapiro: Expect to see a more offensive effort tonight from Sharks in Vegas

You can expect the San Jose Sharks goaltender Devon Dubnyk (40) to expect lots of traffic in front of the net knowing the Vegas Golden Knights reputation for offense tonight at the T Mobile Center in Las Vegas for game 2 of the 2 game series (AP News photo)

On the Sharks podcast with Len:

#1 Len, does it look like any indication to you with that the Vegas Golden Knights (19-6-1) set the tone in winning the first game of this two game series against the San Jose Sharks (11-12-3) on Monday night 2-1.

#2 The Sharks goaltender Devon Dubnyk did all he can to prevent a second goal in the third period but being the good offensive club the Knights are they were able to score on Dubnyk and the Sharks ran out of time to try and tie up the game.

#3 Dubnyk faced a barrage of 34 shots from the Knights and stopped all but 32 he had a great performance despite the San Jose loss and has been the hot handed goalie for the Sharks.

#4 The Sharks in their own right put the puck on net as well against the Knights goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury allowing only one goal while facing 24.

#5 Tonight is game 2 of the series who do you see in goal in this one and you can expect to see more offense coming from the Sharks side of the rink tonight?

Golden State Warriors Stephen Curry (left) seen here taking a shot against the Los Angeles Lakers Dennis Schroder (right). Curry led Golden State in scoring with 27 points on Mon Mar 15, 2021 at Chase Center in San Francisco (AP News photo)

On the Warriors podcast with David:

#1 David, the Warriors (20-20) faced the Los Angeles Lakers (26-13) on Monday night and the contest wasn’t even close as the Lakers dominated for the win 128-97.

#2 For the Warriors it’s was double trouble they had to defend Montrezl Harrell who finished as the top scorer with 27 points and LeBron James with 22 points. The Lakers were certainly a force and that’s considering after the Warriors beat the best team in basketball the night before in the Utah Jazz.

#3 The Warriors are in Houston tonight to face the Rockets (11-26) the Rockets have lost 16 straight games and there is very little doubt that since the departure of James Harden to Brooklyn they have fell on very hard times.

Blichfeld skated in a wired a wrist shot past Condors goalie Stuart Skinner to the short side for his team leading seventh goal of the season at the 3:25 mark.

Hamblin crashed the net and cleaned up the rebound with a backhander for his third goal of the season at the 14:22 mark.

Esposito centered a pass between two ‘Cuda defenders from behind the net out to Joe Gambardella. The veteran Condor skated in alone on Korenar and lifted a backhander top-shelf into the left corner of the net for his second goal of the season at the 16:30 mark.
