SAN FRANCISCO–A beautiful San Francisco day for the 2025 Giants FanFest at Oracle Oracle Park, around 10,000 to 15,000 people breathing the air of the Bay which already had the smell of baseball, yes, baseball is in the air, with about three weeks from the beginning of the regular season here in San Francisco’s Oracle Park, in my opinion the most beautiful baseball park in the world.

Thousands of fans with their favorite Giants bobble heads, mingle with their favorite players while enjoying lunch. Many families descended onto the field to enjoy the day, fathers with their sons playing catch was fun for everybody.

For this year’s FanFest The Hispanic Heritage Baseball Museum and Hall of Fame was located at the third-floor Clubhouse Level. We met countless fans, and hundreds signed up for our museum list for the latest news and updates. It is always an enjoyable event, and the Museum has been a part of this experience with the Giants for over 20 years.

The president and founder of the museum, Mr.Tito Avila Jr., and yours truly, vice president and co-founder, and two of our staff museum members, welcome fans, many Spanish-speaking, proud to talk about their heroes.

I love to meet fans and talk baseball. Many of these fans I have known for years, including our President Tito Avila Jr. In 2000, I called the first game ever at this place on Spanish radio when it was called Pacific Bell Park. It will always have a special place in my baseball broadcasting career. Without these fans, and the energy they bring, this park would be just another beautiful place in a beautiful city. With these enthusiastic and knowledgeable fans, the FanFest is always a memorable event.

The Hispanic Heritage Baseball Museum Hall of Fame, which has been a traveling museum for years, feels closer than ever to having its first permanent location, steps away from Oracle Park at the Mission Rock project.

We know the Giants would be proud to have our museum as a permanent location in their neighborhood. It would be great for baseball, for the Giants, and the Hispanic community, especially San Francisco and the Bay Area. Over 33 percent of all major league players today are Hispanics/Latinos, and much higher in the minor leagues.

Headline Sports podcast with Charlie O: Commanders shock football world knocking out Lions; SF Giants working on getting Jays Guerrero Jr in 3 player deal; plus more news

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels (5) is on the way with a keeper runs past the Detroit Lions defensive end Levi Onwuzurlike (91) in the second half in the NFC Divisional game at Ford Field in Detroit Sat Jan 18, 2025 (AP News photo)

On Headline Sports podcast with Charlie O:

#1 Charlie O, are the Washington Commanders that underdog, under rated team and going through their post season portfolio, they won their first round of the playoff game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers back on Dec 29th in overtime and advanced to face the Detroit Lions on Saturday night. The Commanders shocked not only the nation’s capital but the country with a shocking 45-31 win over the Super Bowl favored Detroit Lions. With the loss the Lions will not appear in the Super Bowl for 59 seasons.

# 2 The Kansas City Chiefs have never lost a AFC Divisional game and the Houston Texans have never won one. The case was the same on Saturday afternoon at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw to Travis Kelce seven times for 117 yards and and a touchdown as the Chiefs took out the Texans 23-14 to advance to the AFC Championship.

#3 Las Vegas Raiders minority owner Tom Brady is said to be courting Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson to be the front runner for the head coaching opening at the Raiders. There is very little doubt that Brady and other NFL teams will be reaching out to Johnson knowing the success he’s had with the Lions offense.

#4 The San Francisco Giants are rumored to be working a three player blockbuster deal to obtain Toronto Blue Jays star Vladimir Guerrero Jr. for reliever Camilo Doval, infielder/outfielder Marco Luciano, and outfielder James Tibbs III. The Jays have not been able to seal a deal with Guerrero and the Giants are said to be willing to break the bank and spend $333 to $426 million to get Guerrero who might be San Francisco’s ticket to get to the post season.

#5 The Athletics are hoping to develop Japanese 18 year old two way player Shotaro Morii and were able to bypass the Japanese professional league getting Morii for a minor league signing bonus of $1,510,500. Morii will become the sixth A’s Japanese player and the fifth Japanese born player joining Shintaro Fujinami, Hideki Okajima, Hideki Okjima, Akinori Iwamura, Keiichi Yabu, Hideki Matsui and American Born Japanese catcher Kurt Suzuki.

Headline Sports podcast with Charlie O: Raiders go for third straight win against Chargers today at Allegiant; 49ers start Dobbs at QB in Arizona today; plus more news

Owner Mark Davis (left) and Head coach Antonio Pierce (right) and the Las Vegas Raiders will try and win their third straight game today at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas against the Los Angeles Chargers in the final regular season game for 2024-25. A win would most likely save Pierce’s job as head coach. (AP News photo)

On Headline Sports with Charlie O:

#1 Season comes to a close for the Las Vegas Raiders today as they close it out against the Los Angeles Chargers at Allegiant. The Raiders since coming off a ten game losing streak have won two straight against the Jacksonville Jaguars and the New Orleans Saints. The Chargers are playoff contenders and have one of the smartest coaches in the NFL on the sidelines with Jim Harbaugh at the helm. How do you see this match up today and the Raiders really want to finish the season with a win.

#2 The San Francisco 49ers have run into all sorts of problems all season long with numerous injuries and having lost six of their last seven games and coach Kyle Shanahan will not be starting quarterback Brock Purdy but Joshua Dobbs will be under center against the Arizona Cardinals for a 1:25pm PST kick off at State Farm Stadium in Glendale to conclude the regular season.

#3 After the truck attack in New Orleans French Quarter on New Years Day on Wednesday that killed 14 victims that suspect Shamsud-Din Jabbar ran over. Jabbar had fire arms and explosives in the truck after it was found by law enforcement authorities. It got worse as Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart’s father had fallen and broke his hip and died in surgery. Smart’s father Sonny fell in New Orleans and it was reported that complications arose but Sonny was not able to overcome his injuries. The game was played on Thursday even though it was suggested that it should have been canceled the Notre Dame Fighting Irish dominated the Bulldogs 23-10.

#4 Taking a look at the San Francisco Giants inability not being able a headliner free agent either last season with players like Carlos Correa, Aaron Judge, Shohei Ohtani, or this year with Juan Soto, Blake Snell, Corbin Burnes, and most likely high profile pitcher Roki Sasaki will not choose to come to San Francisco either. So after taking a look at last season and this season it can’t be the faults of former Giant president Farhan Zaidi or current president Buster Posey it’s obvious they don’t have a final say on how the money is spent. Baseball players and agents talk amongst themselves and they can’t be fooled. Do you think it’s the way the Giants top brass have either tightened their belts or just some of the behind the scenes politics or the way they operated that involves CEO Larry Baer or owner Charles Johnson that may play into players not signing in San Francisco?

#5 Just a question on the Sacramento Kings after losing six game in row, five of them under former head coach Mike Brown and rebounding winning three in a row under new interim head coach Doug Christie is it too early to say the Kings are back on track or are they back on track?

SF Giants podcast report: Could Adames be best SF shortstop since Brandon Crawford?

San Francisco Giants shortstop Willy Adames (right) shakes hands with Giants president Buster Posey (left) at Thu Dec 12, 2024 press conference at Oracle Park in San Francisco (AP News photo)

On the San Francisco Giants podcast with Stephen Ruderman:

#1 No doubt about it San Francisco Giants team president Buster Posey and the Giants had their eye on trying to acquire shortstop Willy Adames from the Milwaukee Brewers. Stephen talk about Posey’s excitement in getting Adames?

#2 There is a lot of confidence that Adames will be that solid shortstop since former Giant Brandon Crawford who can lead and help get the Giants back to the post season?

#3 Adames is excited himself he posted to Instagram a message saying “Are you ready?” what sense did you get from Adames at the presser about getting started with spring training just less than two months away?

#4 Adames hit .251, with 153 hits, 32 RBIs and 112 RBIs last season. Talk about what he can do at the plate and his noted defensive skills at shortstop.

#5 Adames is looked as the future of this organization signing a seven year, $182 million contract with the Giants last Saturday. The Giants are hoping that he will turn out to lead and perform the same way Crawford did?

San Francisco Giants podcast with Stephen Ruderman: Giants get the Willys again sign Adames to whopping 7 year, $182 M deal

Former Milwaukee Brewer Willy Adames signed one of the biggest contracts in San Francisco Giants history seven years for $182 million on Sat Dec 7, 2024 (AP file photo)

#1 The San Francisco Giants who are famous for their players named Willie like in Willie Mays and Willie McCovey made one of their biggest deals signing shortstop Willy Adames to a seven year $182 million deal Saturday afternoon.

#2 The Giants had their sights on signing Adames. With Juan Soto most likely ready to sign with another club Adames was a player the Giants were focused on.

#3 The Giants have to feel fortunate to have signed Adames as other ball clubs were also bidding for his services what attracted Adames most to signing with San Francisco.

#4 Adames had been a huge piece of the Milwaukee Brewers line up the last four years and the Brewers have been a successful ball club was it the money or the idea to come to San Francisco for Adames or both?

#5 Adames hit .251, with 152 hits, 32 home runs, and 112 RBIs could wind up being San Francisco’s clean hitter with those numbers. Talk about how much of a difference he makes as a new addition to the line up?

That’s Amaury News and Commentary–In 2025 Ohtani will Not visit Sacramento

In 2025 Ohtani will Not visit Sacramento

That’s Amaury News and Commentary

By Amaury Pi-González

Baseball’s biggest star and Los Angeles Dodgers two-way player, Shohei Ohtani, will not visit the A’s in Sacramento in 2025. The three-time MVP and World Champion is on pace to return to the mound and pitch next season.

The Athletics will only play the Dodgers one time in 2025, at Dodger Stadium on May 13,14 and 15, and that is the only opportunity that an Athletics fan will have to see their team vs. Ohtani.

However, the Dodgers and Giants will play six (6) games next season, three at Dodger Stadium on June 13,14,15 and three more in San Francisco’s Oracle Park on July 11,12,13. If you are “into Ohtani stuff” and live in Northern California, you could visit San Francisco to watch the spectacle and do not need to spend the money and time to visit LA at a Stadium where it is not easy to find a ticket for a game, at Dodger Stadium where their home attendance is average 50,000 per game.

The world’s #1 baseball star is usually followed by a cadre of reporters wherever the Dodgers travel, from international and domestic writers, newspapers, and social media to radio and television. During the Major League season, it doesn’t matter if the Dodgers are at home or on the road; Japan is fascinated with ‘everything Ohtani,’ and in 2025, there will be even much more coverage of the superstar as he is scheduled to be a part of his team’s starting rotation.

The much-anticipated return to the mound of this baseball mega-star should be one of the biggest stories next season. Ohtani had his first Tommy John surgery in 2018 and a second Tommy John surgery in 2023.

Note: This is the way the 2025 schedule is set for the Athletics and the Dodgers; it is not like Ohtani said, “I do not want to visit Sacramento” サクラメントには行きたくない

San Francisco Giants podcast with Stephen Ruderman: Bumgarner might return in front office; Crawford retires; How do you replace Snell?

Former Arizona Diamondback and San Francisco Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner is being considered for a front office role with the Giants according to sources (AP file photo)

San Francisco Giants podcast with Stephen Ruderman:

1. With the Dodgers agreeing to sign Blake Snell to a five-year $182-million deal, how do you think that shapes up the Dodgers and the National League West next season?

2. With deferred money on this contract similar to that of Ohtani’s contract, what impact will this have on the game, and how will “small market” teams respond?

3. With the Giants losing out on Snell, where do they do from there?

4. Brandon Crawford has announced his retirement after a 14-year career. What stands out from his career, and what role could you see with him going forward with the Giants?

5. President of Baseball Operations Buster Posey has expressed interest in bringing Madison Bumgarner in for a role. What kind of role do you imagine?

That’s Amaury News and Commentary podcast: Former Brave Rico Carty dead at 85; Orioles to move in fences for 25 season; plus more news

The Atlanta Braves honored Rico Carty with a tribute and photo. Carty played in the big leagues from 1963-1979 (image from the Atlanta Braves)

On That’s Amaury News and Commentary podcast:

#1 Former Atlanta Braves great Rico Carty has passed away at the age of 85. Carty played in the majors in 1963 the year he broke in with the Milwaukee Braves before retiring in 1979 with the Toronto Blue Jays. In 1970 Carty led the National League in hitting with a .366. The Dominican paper Listin Diario said Carty’s friend informed the paper of Carty’s death at 85 years old.

#2 Camden Yards and the Baltimore Orioles have announced that they have moved in the fences 20 feet in for the 2025 season. In 2022 the Orioles moved the fences back something that made the pitching staff appreciate. Prior to the 2022 season the hitters loved to tee off at Camden and in 2025 they can love that opportunity again.

#3 The San Francisco Giants have signed outfielder Mike Yastrzemski to a one year deal for the 2025 season at $9.25 million. The Giants also tendered contracts for first baseman LeMonte Wade, closer Camilo Doval, and releiver Tyler Rogers. How important is it for the Giants to secure those players.

#4 Sacramento A’s manager Mark Kotsay said that free agent and former Los Angeles Dodger Walker Buehler declined to sign with the A’s citing that he didn’t not want to play in Sacramento a triple A minor league park. After playing in the number 2 TV market in baseball Buehler wanted to stay clear of Sacramento which he considers a minor league park.

#5 Also MLB players have indicated that they do not like the idea of playing in Sacramento because of it’s small space, that Sacramento is just a temporary home for the A’s, the clubhouses for the A’s and visiting teams are being built as a two story facility, there is no tunnel from the dugouts to the clubhouse for the players like other big league parks. The only consolation the players got out of going to Sacramento they will play on natural turf as opposed to artificial turf.
