On the Raiders podcast with Rich:

#1 Rich the buzz still is warm from last week’s First Take program when ESPN’s Keyshawn Johnson said that he doesn’t care what anybody thinks and that he likes Raiders quarterback Derek Carr and that Carr is an elite quarterback. Rich in your opinion how far has Carr got to go from being considered an elite quarterback.

#2 Of the elite quarterback class that was listed in the conversation Aaron Rogers, Pat Mahomes, Russell Wilson, and Tom Brady no one would be too shocked if you mention them for Hall of Fame caliber talent.

#3 Rich, talk about the benefit the Raiders got not using Carr in any of the pre season games and head coach Jon Gruden staying on the side of caution to prevent injuries to Carr and back up Marcus Mariota.

#4 Will defense be in question for the Raiders this season. The Raiders allowed a lot of scoring and Carr got sacked quite a bit towards the end of last season.

#5 First game of the season the Raiders host the Baltimore Ravens at Allegiant Stadium and once again First Take and ESPN’s Stephen Jackson chimed in on Ravens quarterback LeMar Jackson regarding being an elite quarterback to which Stephen A said “Not Elite!” and he also added, “Until you can throw that football accurately under duress period” he won’t be in the elite class.

Johnson was challenged that if there were a poll between Carr and the Rams Matt Stafford, Stafford would win by a landslide to which Johnson said he’s not paying any attention to a poll but what Carr has done on the field and that’s why he’s convinced Carr is an elite quarterback.

#3 During Wednesday’s presser head coach Jon Gruden didn’t comment about acquiring linebacker KJ Wright from the Seattle Seahawks but he did say a lot of good things about the linebackers they have. The Raiders released Tanner Muse who was a 2020 draft pick. Rich, just to get your thoughts on the Raiders getting Wright and releasing Muse.

#4 Rich, the Raiders signed running back Peyton Barber this week Barber played with the Washington Football Team and last season and had 270 yards, four touchdowns, and has started 30 games career. How much of a plus will Barber add at running back.

#5 Rich, talk about how ready is Ravens starting quarterback LeMar Jackson for this opener he had his vaccine issues and he’s under center against the Raiders will he need time to throw or will he rush more on Monday Night Football?

On the Raiders podcast with Rich Perez:

#1 The Raiders signed wide receiver David Moore to a one year deal this week. Moore was a former receiver at the Seattle Seahawks. San Francisco 49ers podcast with Joe Hawkes: Garoppolo looks to be starter for opener in Detroit; Bosa, Ford and Tartt looking good in practices

San Francisco 49ers pass rusher Dee Ford after suffering nine months from a back injury will play in Sep 12th’s opener at Detroit (San Francisco Chronicle photo file)

On the 49ers podcast with J Hawkes:

#1 When at a recent practice about who will start Sep 12th’s opener in Detroit San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan told the media scrum standing about “I bet you guys could figure it out” Joe just wanted to get your take on Shanahan’s answer?

#2 It’s been 357 days since defensive end Nick Bosa had torn his ACL and cartilage in his left knee. Bosa sat out all three pre season games how concerned is Shanahan about Bosa returning to top playing shape to start the season?

#3 Bosa has only been involved in 10 snaps of the closed to the media for full practices for 11 on 11 sessions. It’s hard to judge in that small amount of time but how Bosa will do but Shanahan said he’s expecting a lot from Bosa.

#4 49ers general manager John Lynch said that pass rusher Dee Ford will be used cautiously, Ford who had a third serious back injury and missed 15 games last season. Lynch said Ford has looked well in practices and drills. Ford didn’t play in any pre season games and his expected to take 15-20 snaps during games in pass rushing plays.

#5 Jaquiski Tartt looks as he will be the starting strong safety. Tartt missed nine months of last season due to surgery for turf toe. Tartt reportedly has looked like he hasn’t missed a step since returning to practice Aug 25th. Tartt participated on two practices during the week and against the Raiders last Sunday was in 29 snaps in the last pre season game.

San Francisco 49ers podcast with Jeremiah Salmonson: Job for now is Garoppolo’s; Lance will need accuracy to win job

Trey Lance (5) and Jimmy Garoppolo (10) will be mixing quarterback duties at least for the first game of week 1 in Detroit on Sun Sep 12 against the Detroit Lions at Ford Field (mercurynews file photo)

On the 49ers podcast with Jeremiah:

#1 Jeremiah, How much pressure is on Trey Lance now that he knows he will be rotating at quarterback with starter Jimmy Garoppolo as opening day approaches on Sun Sep 12.

#2 Head coach Kyle Shanahan says that Lance will get plays but he won’t be the starter to begin the regular season.

#3 Garoppolo most likely will be starting and if he is the winning quarterback under center with improved numbers he will remain the starting quarterback.

#4 One of the things that Lance has to do to win the job is he will have to show he’s mobile out of the pocket and that if he goes long he accurate and can set up scoring situations.

#5 Both Garoppolo and Lance had fairly good camps will this be a matter of Lance learning the system and executing it to win the starter job and this more of a quarterback controversy than just trading off mid games?

#5 The San Francisco 49ers quarterback situation has been the all the talk as head coach Kyle Shanahan plans to start quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and insert back up Trey Lance in mid series plays. Baez who got hit by a pitch which resulted in cheering from the Mets fans as Baez scored from first to home for the game winning run over the Washington Nationals 6-5. Jessica would it appear that Baez has redeemed himself?

#2 Mets team president Sandy Alderson said that the thumbs down gestures had to stop as Alderson had spoke to both Lindor and Baez before Monday night’s game to stop. They both apologized and Baez needed to do something to make up for his mistake and scoring the winning run is a good start.

#3 Jessica, will this hurt Baez’ chances to sign on for a new team and other teams who saw this will just move past Baez as Baez becomes a free agent in 2022.

#4 Jessica, turning to the NFL the New England Patriots released Cam Newton who in pre season threw for 14-21 for 162 yards, the Patriots will go for Mac Jones as their starter who was 36-52 for 162 yards. Newton was a Super Bowl quarterback when he was with the Carolina Panthers but lost in the Super Bowl, Newton said on Instagram regarding his release from the Patriots “don’t feel sorry for me I’m good.”

#5 Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Urban Meyers said that he has weighed some of his cuts on the roster after the last pre season game based on unvaccinated and vaccinated players saying “Everyone was considered,” Meyer said. “That was part of the [considerations such as] production, let’s start talking about this, and also is he vaccinated or not? Can I say that that was a decision maker? It was certainly in consideration.”

#1 Dave, all the talk has been about week 1 versus the Detroit Lions in Detroit as 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan is considering mixing quarterbacks as Jimmy Garoppolo will start and and Trey Lance would be doing work on the mid series.

#2 Dave, with the 49ers mixing series between Garoppolo and Lance is this another strategy to keep opposing defenses off balance because each quarterback has their own individual way of staying in the pocket and running the football?

#4 Dave, talking about the Detroit Lions the oddsmakers have the 49ers picked to run up the score on them, the Lions are coached by Dan Campbell, at right tackle is first round pick Penei Sewell, and former Cal quarterback Jared Goff under center how do you see this first game kicking off?
