LAS VEGAS-The Las Vegas Raiders (1-0) beat the Baltimore Ravens (0-1) 33-27 in a game at a sold out Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas Nevada where 61,756 fans attended on Monday Night Football’s prime time show.

The game marks the first win with fans in the arena and The Raiders put on a tremendous second half come back to beat the Ravens in overtime. Raiders quarterback Derek Carr threw 34 for 56 for 435 yards, two touchdowns and and an interception.

Carr threw a 31 yard pass to wide receiver Zay Jones for the game winning touchdown in overtime. The Raiders had to tie the game three times to keep up with the Ravens in the fourth quarter. Carr’s second touchdown pass was set up after Carl Nassib strip sacked Ravens quarterback Lemar Jackson at the 27.

The Raiders had got into trouble when Carr had thrown an interception at the one yard line on the first play on offense in overtime and also were called for delay of game just before they were supposed to kick a field goal. The Raiders with the offense back out on the field Carr under center threw the game winning touchdown pass to Jones for the game winning touchdown.

Carr had a great game he was steady and consistent, he had one interception that bounced off of Willie Snead’s hands to end the game or what would’ve ended the game, got deflected off a Ravens helmet and that was the pick at the goal line late in the game.

The defense held on against a quick Jackson and nullified his attempt at most runs. Max Crosby had a tremendous game and was all over Lamar Jackson all night. Jackson offensively threw 19-30 for 235 yards and one touchdown. The Raiders kicker Daniel Carlson tied the game with a 37 yard field goal with 37 second left in the ball game to keep the Raiders alive before the game winning touchdown pass to Jones.

It was Carr throwing to a clearly open wide receiver Jones who took it in giving the Raiders the win in a hard fought overtime game. “It was really special, I’m really happy that we got the win on the day that kind of made a little bit of history, which is like really nice to do.” said Nassib during the post game press conference.

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr meets with the media at the Raiders Henderson Nevada facility on Wed Aug 25, 2021 (photo from the Las Vegas Review Journal)

On the Raiders podcast with Rich:

#1 Rich the buzz still is warm from last week’s First Take program when ESPN’s Keyshawn Johnson said that he doesn’t care what anybody thinks and that he likes Raiders quarterback Derek Carr and that Carr is an elite quarterback. Rich in your opinion how far has Carr got to go from being considered an elite quarterback.

#2 Of the elite quarterback class that was listed in the conversation Aaron Rogers, Pat Mahomes, Russell Wilson, and Tom Brady no one would be too shocked if you mention them for Hall of Fame caliber talent.

#3 Rich, talk about the benefit the Raiders got not using Carr in any of the pre season games and head coach Jon Gruden staying on the side of caution to prevent injuries to Carr and back up Marcus Mariota.

#4 Will defense be in question for the Raiders this season. The Raiders allowed a lot of scoring and Carr got sacked quite a bit towards the end of last season.

#5 First game of the season the Raiders host the Baltimore Ravens at Allegiant Stadium and once again First Take and ESPN’s Stephen Jackson chimed in on Ravens quarterback LeMar Jackson regarding being an elite quarterback to which Stephen A said “Not Elite!” and he also added, “Until you can throw that football accurately under duress period” he won’t be in the elite class.

#2 ESPN football analyst Keyshawn Johnson said that Raiders quarterback Derek Carr is in the elite quarterback list to which Johnson received a lot of backlash for. Johnson was challenged that if there were a poll between Carr and the Rams Matt Stafford, Stafford would win by a landslide to which Johnson said he’s not paying any attention to a poll but what Carr has done on the field and that’s why he’s convinced Carr is an elite quarterback.

#3 During Wednesday’s presser head coach Jon Gruden didn’t comment about acquiring linebacker KJ Wright from the Seattle Seahawks but he did say a lot of good things about the linebackers they have. The Raiders released Tanner Muse who was a 2020 draft pick. Rich, just to get your thoughts on the Raiders getting Wright and releasing Muse.

#4 Rich, the Raiders signed running back Peyton Barber this week Barber played with the Washington Football Team and last season and had 270 yards, four touchdowns, and has started 30 games career. How much of a plus will Barber add at running back.

#5 Rich, talk about how ready is Ravens starting quarterback LeMar Jackson for this opener he had his vaccine issues and he’s under center against the Raiders will he need time to throw or will he rush more on Monday Night Football?

Former Seattle Seahawk wide receiver David Moore (83) who signed with the Las Vegas Raiders this week is looking for a starting job with the Raiders (MSN photo file)

On the Raiders podcast with Rich Perez:

#1 The Raiders signed wide receiver David Moore to a one year deal this week. Moore was a former receiver at the Seattle Seahawks. Moore signed a two year deal with the Carolina Panthers but released him this week. The Raiders were surprised that Moore didn’t get another offer from the Seahawks who was a fan favorite in Seattle but were glad to pick him up this week.

#2 The Seahawks who have only four receivers and could have used Moore’s services but the Raiders were glad to sign him. Moore previous to his signing with Carolina signed to be on the Raiders practice squad and Moore couldn’t get on an active NFL roster.

#3 Moore 26, for right now will try and win a job against some of the Raiders younger receivers it’ll be competitive but he has one advantage and that’s experience.

#4 Raider quarterback Derek Carr said he’s excited about the various wide receiver options as he’s looking to make plays with younger receiver Bryan Edwards and Zay Jones.

#5 Carr is also looking forward to throwing to dependable Henry Ruggs III and Hunter Renfrow. Ruggs is noted for his speed and he can out run opposing defenders and Renfrow is noted to be the go to guy on third down plays and is said to be as tough as nails.

NFL Headlines podcast with Tony Renteria: Chiefs safety Mathieu’s breakthrough case; Colts players Covid-19 issues could cost team games

Kansas City Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu has 24 hours to test negative before being allowed back before Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns after testing positive (USA Today file photo)

On NFL Headlines with Tony R:

#1 Kansas City Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu has been put on the Covid 19 list after testing positive. In what some call a breakthrough case Mathieu had been vaccinated. While the Chiefs have three other safeties at their disposal Mathieu has 24 hours to test asymptomatic twice within that period to be eligible for Sun Sep 12 game against the Cleveland Browns.

#2 Indianapolis Colts general manager Chris Ballard said that everybody should get vaccinated. Ballard talked about his players who are not vaccinated. Quarterback Carson Wentz, center Ryan Kelly, and receiver Zach Pascal came into a Colts staff member who was positive and all three have been place on the Covid 19 list.

#3 Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has received the confidence of Dolphins head coach Brian Flores. Tagovailoa has been floated as a possible trade to the Houston Texans and has said he does appreciate the support from Flores.

#4 Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Marcus Moriota is set to receive $10 million this season just to sit on the bench as a back up behind starter Derek Carr. Moriota could have got a deal worth up to $20 million plus incentives but will stay in Vegas as no other team is will to pay that price and the Raiders would like to wait to restructure Moriota’s contract.

#5 The San Francisco 49ers quarterback situation has been the all the talk as head coach Kyle Shanahan plans to start quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and insert back up Trey Lance in mid series plays. It did throw the Raiders off in last Sunday’s pre season game it could do the same in the regular season.

San Francisco finishes off Las Vegas 34-10

San Francisco Finishes Off Las Vegas 34-10

By Barbara Mason

Sunday afternoon the San Francisco 49ers took on the Las Vegas Raiders in their third and final pre-season game. In this pre-season the 49ers dropped their first to the Kansas City Chiefs in a close contest followed by another close win over the Chargers.

The first quarter of this game was all San Francisco. They took the early lead when quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo scored on a one yard rush 7-0. Going into the second quarter the team picked up where they left off in the first quarter.

The 49ers had their second touchdown on a 2 yard rush by, of course, quarterback Trey Lance and the QB shuffle continued to yield some nice benefits.

They now led 14-0. Mid-way through the quarter Las Vegas got on the board via a 51 yard field goal. San Francisco would kick two field goals before the half. A 21 yard and a 19 yard field goal gave the 49ers a 20-3 lead at halftime.

The third quarter was an impressive one for running back JaMycal Hasty. He ran for a 35 yard touchdown and another 3 yard rush for a td giving San Francisco a 34-10 lead. Earlier in the third quarter Las Vegas scored on a pass from Nick Bowers to Nathan Peterman for 16 yards.

Neither team would score in the fourth quarter. The 49ers came away with the 34-10 win as they now prepare for the regular season.

San Francisco’s Jimmy Garoppolo finished 4 of 7 for 64 yards and Trey Lance was 6 of 13 for 46 yards. San Francisco had a great day in the air with 133 passing yards and on the ground as well with 242 rushing yards.

The team will now head to Detroit for their first regular season game on Sunday September 12. They will be taking on former Ram’s quarterback Jared Goff as they prepare to showcase their QB platoon. Kickoff is schedule for 10:00AM. San Francisco is favored to win their first game of the 2021 season 61.3% to 38.4%.

Raiders backup struggle against the Niners 34-10

Raiders backups struggle against the Niners 34-10.

By Rich Perez LV Raiders Media & Sports Radio Service

BAY AREA-The Raiders returned to the Bay Area with second and third teams , as they came in to impress Coach Gruden before the cuts this week ,in Santa Clara vs the 49ers today.

Unfortunately for the Raiders they lost 34 to 10 , but overall coach Gruden got to see some key players who may make the team as the roster cuts come on Tuesday ,down to 53.

Nathan Peterman threw for 149 yards overall , 1-TD with 1-interception and 13 rushing yards. Peterman played all three preseason games for the Raiders who also started and finished all three games. Overall 2-1.

RB Trey Ragas ran for 39 yards of the Raiders 63 yards overall Rushing.

The Raiders did show glimpses on many plays scoring on a touchdown on the left side line in the third quarter by the big TE target Nick Bowers.

The Raiders officially did not play these starters all pre season: Derek Carr, Darren Waller, Josh Jacobs , Kenyon Drake , Henry Ruggs, Bryan Edwards, Kolten Miller, Brad Goode and Richie Incognito.

*NEXT-The Raiders will return home for the next two weeks in preparation for the Baltimore Ravens.

Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Rich Perez:49ers offense too much for Raiders in 34-10 loss in final pre season game

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Nathan Peterman throws against the San Francisco 49ers in the first half at Levis Stadium in Santa Clara (AP News photo)

On the Raiders podcast with Rich:

The Las Vegas Raiders stuck with quarterback Nathan Peterman every game and you never know I would have hoped to see Moriota play a little bit but he’s still had that hurt leg. For Peterman 175 passing yards today and he had the second and third stringers with him.

It wasn’t apple to apples or oranges to oranges with a lot of their starters. The 49ers had a lot of offense going for them in the first three quarters and they were alternating Garoppolo with Lance and the 49ers look like their ready to play week one football against the Detroit Lions so kudos to them.

The Raiders on the other hand Gruden was going to use today to decide whose going to stay on this team and he used this game as a show case for that as Peterman threw for one touchdown and one interception and he had 13 rushing yards.

The Raiders host the Baltimore Ravens on Sun Sep 13 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas for Sunday Night Football at 5:15 pm

San Francisco 49ers podcast with Jeremiah Salmonson: Shanahan going with Jimmy G as starter Sunday vs. Raiders

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo will be switching off with quarterback Trey Lance during Sun Aug 29, 2021’s game at Levi Stadium in Santa Clara as announced by head coach Kyle Shanahan (file photo from wikipedia.com)

On the 49ers contest with Jeremiah:

#1 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan will be going with his starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. Garoppolo will get every opportunity to work his skill set but is this a try out for starter or does Garoppolo have the starting job?

#2 Jeremiah this is not to say that Shanahan wants to get some looks at quarterback Trey Lance who threw for two touchdowns in the last pre season game in Los Angeles against the Chargers.

#3 Shanahan said he will mix Lance in the game on Sunday against the Raiders and most likely will not have Lance doing any rushing just have him stay in the pocket to avoid any injuries.

#4 Last Sunday Garoppolo did play all 15 of his snaps in the opening series of the game and Lance later took over and got the win for the 49ers over the Chargers with the two touchdowns and 15-10 win.

#5 Jeremiah talk about the wide receiver issues, Brandon Aiyuk has a bad hamstring that will keep out of Sunday’s game, Aiyuk according to Shanahan is expected back next week for practice, wide receiver Richie James Jr who is having an MRI. The 49ers are checking to see if he is having a season ending ligament tear.

NFL podcast with Tony Renteria: Lawrence to start for Jags; Dalton to start for Bears; Jets Curry develops blood clots out for the season

Tough break for the New York Jets defensive end Vinny Curry as doctors have ordered that Curry play no contact sports and will be out for three to six months (file photo from Sports Illustrated)

On NFL podcast with Tony R:

#1 The Jacksonville Jaguars have named Trevor Lawrence as their starting quarterback, Jags head coach Urban Myer made the announcement on Wednesday and Lawrence is slated to make his start on Sep 12th versus against the Houston Texans in Houston.

#2 Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy has announced that Andy Dalton will be the starting quarterback and he was selected over Justin Fields to start. Dalton has a lot of veteran experience but also Nagy had to measure how Dalton looked in pre season and camp as well.

#3 Sad story Tony, New York Jets defensive end Vinny Curry will miss the entire 2021 season due to a rare blood disorder and Curry had to have his spleen removed which led to complications. During the recovery process Curry developed blood clots doctors have put Curry on blood thinners and said he is not to play contact sports for three to six months and miss this season.

#4 San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said that while he hasn’t decided on a starting quarterback yet there has been talk that the 49ers who are favored to win the NFC West will be going with quarterback Trey Lance. Lance in his last pre season game threw two touchdown passes and saw more time under center than starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo in last Sunday’s game against the Chargers.

#5 Tony, the Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Nathan Peterman has started in the first two pre season games and completed both games. This Sunday against the 49ers do you see starting quarterback Derek Carr and back up Marcus Mariota getting some time or will Peterman play most of the game?
