Las Vegas Raiders podcast Tony Renteria:

#1 How crucial were the turnovers by the Raiders (interceptions and fumbles) in swinging momentum and giving the Bears scoring opportunities?

#2 Did special teams errors — specifically the blocked field goal late in the game — directly cost the Raiders the win?

#3 Given the Raiders’ dominance in the run game (240 rushing yards), why was that not enough to secure a win?

#4 How did Geno Smith’s play (especially the three interceptions and limited passing yardage) undermine the offensive balance?

#5  Raiders fall to 1-3 next up they face the Indianapolis Colts in Indianapolis. The Colts are colts are coming off a tough loss to the Los Angeles Rams today 27-20. The Raiders have now loss three in a row can they overcome and get a win against the Colts who are 3-1?

Las Vegas Raiders podcast Tony Renteria: Raiders defense just couldn’t put the brakes on Commanders

Washington Commanders running back Jeremy McNicols (26) breaks free from the Las Vegas Raiders defense in the first half at Northwest Stadium in Landover MD on Sun Sep 21, 2025 (AP News photo)

Las Vegas Raiders podcast Tony Renteria:

#1 Washington Commanders (2-1) quarterback Marcus Mariota got lots of protection and had all day to throw against the Las Vegas Raiders (1-2) defense going 15-21, 207 yards, and one touchdown in the 41-24 win.

#2  Washington changed it’s playbook from their last game as nearly half of the starters in Sunday’s game were changed and Mariota was backing up for injured first stringer Jayden Daniels. Mariota got 201 yards on the ground against the Raiders and 174 in the first half.

#3 The Commanders set the tone in the first half taking a 20-10 lead at the half and that had Raiders head coach Pete Carroll concerned that the defense was not putting any pressure on Mariota who was getting time to throw.

#4 In the second half the Commanders outscored Las Vegas 21-14. The damage was done mostly in the first half and the Raiders couldn’t salvage it in the second half getting shutout in the third quarter and scoring twice on touchdowns thrown by quarterback Geno Smith at 12:57 to Tre Tucker for a ten yard pass and at 3:42 Smith hit Tucker for a 61 yard touchdown.

#5 The Chicago Bears who lost their first two games of the season and faced the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday at Soldier Field in Chicago. The Raiders will be hosting the Bears at Allegiant Stadium on Sun Sep 28 a 1:25pm PT kick off. Can the Raiders rebound after loses to the Los Angeles Chargers and the Commanders against a struggling Bears team?

Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Tony Renteria: Raiders fire Pierce after just one season at the helm; Raiders had a ten game losing streak under Pierce

Former Las Vegas Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce works the sidelines against the Los Angeles Chargers at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Sun Jan 5, 2025 on the last day of the regular season (AP News photo)

On the Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Tony R:

The Las Vegas Raiders fired head coach Antonio Pierce on Tuesday after leading the team to a 4-12 season. Last season Pierce became interim coach after the Raiders fired Josh McDaniels midway during the 2023 when Pierce took over and led the team to a 5-4 record.

After starting the season 2-2 the Raiders went on a ten game losing streak that went from Oct 6 to ended on Dec Sun Dec 29th in New Orleans. The Raiders injuries Maxx Crosby and Christian Wilkins put a dent in the Raiders line up. Earlier in the season wide receiver Davante Adams wanted a trade which he got to get out of Vegas and went to the New York Jets. There was no smooth sailing for the Raiders this season.

Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Tony Renteria: Super Dome and Saints are next for Raiders next Sunday

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Aidan O’Connell acknowledges the crowd after the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Sun Dec 22, 2024 (AP News photo)

On the Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Tony R:

#1 Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis was besides himself after the Raiders snapped their ten game losing streak to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday at Allegiant Stadium for a 19-14 victory.

#2 It took a long three months for the Raiders to pick up a win after losing ten straight games.

#3 Raiders quarterback Aidan O’Connell threw for 257 yards after coming back from an injury went 24-38 and threw no touchdowns but did enough to squeak by the Jaguars.

#4 Brock Browers the Raiders tight end said that the vibes in the dressing room were much better and it was a matter of just coming in and winning the game.

#5 The Raiders try to put together two wins in a row as they battle the New Orleans Saints next Sun Dec 29 at the Super Dome. Saints have a short week playing on Monday Night Football against the Green Bay Packers and then host the Raiders at the Super Dome this coming Sunday.

Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Tony Renteria: Raiders hope to snap 8 game skid face Falcons on Monday Night Football

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Aidan O’Connell (12) looks to heave the ball against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay on Mon Dec 9, 2024 (AP News photo)

#1 The Las Vegas Raiders (2-11) once again were on their opponents heels late in a game but once again the game got away from them in the fourth quarter. This time against the the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-6) the Raiders had a 14-10 but the Bucs pulled ahead with a touchdown in the fourth quarter that pretty much put the kibosh on any chance for the Raiders to come back losing to Tampa Bay 21-10.

#2 Once again the Raiders played a close game quarterback Aidan O’Connell didn’t throw anywhere close to 200 yards and if the Raiders were able to get just that much more offense just maybe they would have been able to get the lead.

#3 The Raiders scored twice in the second quarter with O’Connell rushing for a one yard touchdown at 8:07 making it 14-7 and with a 25 yard field goal at 4:28 by kicker Daniel Carlson cutting Tampa Bay’s lead to four points 14-10 at the half..

#4 Fourth quarter the Bucs added Rachaad White carried for three yard touchdown to pull ahead 21-10, Carlson for the Raiders booted a 27 yard field goal 21-13 at 3:05 and the Bucs put the final touches on scoring Sunday with a quarterback Baker Mayfield 29 yard pass to Jalen McMillan 1:56 giving the Bucs a 28-13 win.

#5 Sunday’s loss is the Raiders eighth consecutive. This has been a struggling effort by the Raiders just to get back in the win column a place they have not been since Sep 29th when they defeated the Cleveland Browns. The Raiders take that eight game skid into their next game at Allegiant Stadium against the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football on Dec 16th. The Falcons lost to the Minnesota Vikings Sunday and the Falcons drop below .500 at 6-7. How do you see this game next week Monday?

Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Tony Renteria: Raiders fire offensive assistant coaches; Vegas face Dolphins in Miami next Sunday

The Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver DJ Turner (bottom) tries to recover quarterback Gardner Minshew’s fumble in front of the Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Logan Wilson (55) at Paycor Stadium in Cincinnati on Sun Nov 3, 2024 (AP News photo)

Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Tony Renteria:

#1 The Las Vegas Raiders (2-7) once again get pummeled this time by the Cincinnati Bengals (4-5) at Paycor Stadium in Cincinnati 41-24. In the first half Tony the Raiders did have a close half coming out of it trailing 17-10 and it looked like the Raiders were going to stay in step with the Bengals.

#2 Raider starting quarter back Gardner Minshew was 10-17, 124 yards, did not throw or carry for a touchdown and didn’t throw an interception. Minshew and the Raiders just couldn’t much going on scoring in the third and fourth quarters.

#3 The Raiders couldn’t shut down the Bengals scoring in the second half as the Bengals in third quarter scored 14 points and ten points in the fourth quarter to run away with the game.

#4 Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow got good protection and was mobile against the Raiders pass rush finishing with a line of 27-39, 251 yards, had all day to throw with five touchdowns and was intercepted once.

#5 The Raiders hope to end their current five game loss streak as they head to Miami and Hard Rock Stadium for a 10:00am PST kickoff with the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins have struggled of late as well with three loses in a row and they lost Sunday 30-27 to the Buffalo Bills. The Dolphins drop their record to 2-6. Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa had a 25-28 afternoon throwing for 231 yards and two touchdowns. Any chance the Raiders can snap out of this funk against the Dolphins next Sunday?

Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Tony Renteria: It’s back to the drawing board for Raiders; Vegas heads to Cincinnati to face Bengals Sunday

Las Vegas running back Alexander Mattison (22) runs the ball on the Kansas City Chiefs safety Nazeeh Johnson (13) in first half action at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Sun Oct 27, 2024 (AP News photo)

Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Tony Renteria:

#1 Close game actually closer than the score the Raiders tried to keep up with the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday at Allegiant Stadium. The Chiefs had a 17-13 lead midway in the third quarter.

#2 Up to that point in the game did it look like Raiders would be able to hold back the Chiefs it looked like the defense was working for Vegas through the third quarter.

#3 The Chiefs broke it open in the fourth quarter when the kicker Hunter Bulker booted a 24 yarder with 8:44 left to make it 20-13 so the Raiders now trailed by a touchdown.

#4 The Chiefs later would put the game out of reach with 4:59 left in the game when quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw a nine yard pass to wide out Xavier Worthy for a touchdown making it 27-13. The Raiders would add another seven points when quarterback Gardner Minshew threw an 11 pass to wide out DJ Turner to make it 27-20. It was not enough at 2:03. The Raiders lose their fourth straight game.

#5 The Raiders head to Cincinnati to take on the Bengals. The Bengals have won two out of their last three games. The Bengals lost their seventh game Sunday (3-5) to the Philadelphia Eagles 37-17. With that in mind is there a chance the Raiders can bounce back and win this game in Cincinnati next Sunday?

Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Tony Renteria: Raiders prepare for opener against Chargers on Sun Sep 8th

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Nathan Peterman (10) on a give to running back Daniel Laube (23) against the San Francisco 49ers in first half action at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Fri Aug 23, 2024 (AP News photo)

On the Raiders podcast with Tony R:

#1 Tony when you take a look at the Raiders-49ers contest last Friday which resulted in a 24-24 tie what were some of the take aways for you in that last pre season game?

#2 Talk about wide receiver Tyriek McAllister’s 81 yard return in the second quarter. It’s been speculated that prior to the return McAllister may not have even been on head coach Antonio Pierce’s radar after a return like that no doubt Pierce has to sit up and take notice?

#3 Coach Pierce did say he did notice some flashes from McAllister in practice but in a game situation Pierce said McAllister moved the needles.

#4 Game’s tied with 16 seconds left in the game and the 49ers held a 24-21 lead and Raiders kicker Daniel Carlson boots a 43 yarder to tie it up for a 24-24 final score. Talk about how important Carlson will be going into the 2024 season?

#5 How surprised were you that coach Pierce chose to start Nathan Pederman over Carter Bradley?

#6 Pederman in the first half threw 12-19 for 108 yards and one touchdown. In the second half it was Bradley who led the Raiders for that final drive to get Carlson in field goal range. Bradley threw 9-21 for 169 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

#7 Raiders open up the 2024 season this Sunday Sep 8th at So Fi Stadium in the Southland against the Los Angeles Chargers with a 1:05pm PT kick off. It’s the opener and Gardner Minshew is the starter at quarterback. The Chargers are trying to get out of the gate with a good start how do you see this match up ?

Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Tony Renteria: O’Connell looks to be starter in Minnesota on Saturday

Las Vegas Raiders quarterbacks Aidan O’Connell (14) and Gardner Minshew (12) in practice camp on May 21, 2024 are battling for the starting job. The Raiders play the Minnesota Vikings Sat Aug 10, 2024 in the first pre season game at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis (AP News file photo)

On the Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Tony R:

#1 The Raiders have a quarterback controversy on their hands and head coach Antonio Pierce says nothing has been decided yet as both Gardner Minshew and Aidan O’Connell continue to battle for the starting job.

#2 Tony, here is something that coach Pierce said about the controversy on Monday, “We can’t sit here and say anyone has won yet. Gardner has had good moments… when I look at Aidan I see some good moments, some drops by the receivers, too. They are going against a very good defense, and I think they are feeling that.”

#3 Tony, first pre season game Sat 10th in Minnesota it’s all too pre mature to predict anything but shouldn’t at least the first few pre season games help determine who should be the starting quarterback?

#4 The question at practice on Monday was who will start at quarterback this Saturday and as coach Piece said it’s going to take an evaluation from this week’s practices that will determine that. It’s most likely expected that O’Connell will get the starting nod.

#5 The OTA’s didn’t take anything from the competition of both teams. Pierce has both Minshew and O’Connell doing simple drills. The Raiders held mandatory mini camp Monday which coach Pierce ended early. O’Connell made some great throws in practice on Monday.

Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Tony Renteria: Can Raiders keep the offense going against Chiefs in KC on Christmas day?

Las Vegas Raiders running back Zamir White (35) scores against the Los Angeles Chargers at Allegiant Stadium on Thu Dec 14, 2023 (AP News photo)

On the Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Tony Renteria:

On the Raiders podcast with Tony R:

#1 Tony, after the Raiders got shutout last Sunday 3-0 on Thursday Night Football it was a smorgasbord of scoring for the Raiders in the first half where Las Vegas scored three touchdowns in each of the first and second quarters.

#2 Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce never one to give up and never give up on quarterback Aidan O’Connell who was pretty much able to throw all night against a virtual non existent Los Angeles Charger defense.

#3 O’Connell had four touchdowns on his portfolio before the third quarter even ended. O’Connell was well over 200 yards in passing at 241 and was 19-32 and had command of his offense all night long a stark contrast from last Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings where he just couldn’t get anything going.

#4 Tony, Raiders wide receiver Devante Adams who was grumbling about not getting enough touches this season got seven receptions by the third quarter, 94 yards and one touchdown. He was besides himself as the Raiders picked up their victory since Nov 12th and snapped their three game losing streak.

#5 The Raiders head to Kansas City and Arrowhead Stadium to face the Chiefs on Mon Dec 25th on Christmas day. The Chiefs are coming off a win over the New England Patriots 27-17 after getting going on a two game losing streak. The Chiefs are trying to regroup how do you see this contest on Christmas Day on Monday?
