#1 Its the moment that the San Diego Padres have been waiting for the return of Fernando Tatis Jr. Tatis had been on the IL for the last two months right thighbone. Tatis returned Monday night against the Detroit Tigers. The Padres are happy to see Tatis back who batted second on Monday and with the Padres tied with the Arizona Diamondbacks for first in the NL Wild Card they want to take advantage of his bat.

#2 The Milwaukee Brewers Willy Adames stretched his home run streak to five games which ties a team record. Monday was no exception he Adames extended the streak with a three home run home run in the first inning victory over the St Louis Cardinals 9-3 at American Family Park in Milwaukee.

#3 The Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton was sent to Triple A St Paul on Monday. The Twins are counting getting Buxton back into action. Buxton last played on Aug 12th and has been out with right hip inflammation. Twins look forward to getting him back in the line up. Buxton was hitting .275, 16 home runs, 49 RBIs in 90 games.

#4 The Kansas City Royals manager Matt Quantaro did not manage on Monday due to a personal matter. Bench coach Paul Hoover managed the game on Monday. The Royals did not say how long that Quantaro will be out. The Royals are in third place in the AL West and are in third place in the AL Wild Card 4.5 games in front of the Boston Red Sox.

#5 Amaury, as you know a number of Major League players are not happy about the idea of an Oakland A’s relocation. Over this past season they have expressed their disappointment about the A’s leaving Oakland it may not influence anything but let’s review, the Philadelphia Phillies Bryce Harper who resides in Las Vegas said “It’s a tough thing to see the A’s go away from Oakland. They have so much tradition and history there: the green, the yellow, the white cleats,” and the Arizona Diamondbacks Paul Sewald said, “I think it’s a terrible idea,” the Arizona closer said. “The whole thing, I fear, is going to be an abject disaster.”

#1 Los Angeles Dodgers two way player Shohei Ohtani became the sixth player to join the 40-40 club hitting a home run and stealing a base against the Tampa Bay Rays at Dodgers Stadium on Friday night. Ohtani has been call a once in lifetime player and often compared to Babe Ruth being able to pitch and swing the bat.

#2 The Houston Astros signed right hander Hector Neris. This is Neris’ second time back with the Astros and he was a free agent when the Astros picked him up. The Astros did not disclose terms. Neris this season is 8-4, ERA 3.89 for the Chicago Cubs before being released on Thursday. Neris pitched for the Astros in 2022-23 going 12-7, ERA 2.69.

#3 Philadelphia Phillies centerfielder Alex Call has been place on the ten day IL due to a foot injury. The Phillies in turn called up catcher Drew Millas from Triple A Rochester. Call was hitting .343, with three home run and 14 RBIs. They’ll no doubt miss his bat.

#4 The San Diego Padres Fernando Tatis who is recovering from stress in the right thigh bone. Tatis took batting practice last Friday. Tatis has been out with the injury for the last two months. Tatis last played on June 21st and was placed on the IL on June 24th. Tatis was hitting .279, 14 home runs and 36 RBIs.

#5 The State of Nevada all of sudden has found public funds to finance a Warner Brothers studio in Las Vegas when they have no finances for public Schools. Nevada is already financing the future Las Vegas A’s with public tax money to the tune of $380 million and said they don’t have money to fund public schools. Same likely excuse when they fund for Warner Bros no money for schools and plenty for Warner Bros studios. Nevada is the number 34 out of 50 in the country in public education.

#1 New York Mets reliever Edwin Diaz was caught red handed by crew chief umpire Vic Carapazza as Diaz was coming out to relieve in the top of the ninth inning on Sunday Night Baseball against the Chicago Cubs. Carapazza found a sticky substance on Diaz’ right hand. Diaz said it was rosin and sweat that was on his hand. Carapazza said it definitely was not rosin or sweat. Diaz can appeal the ten game suspension issued by MLB and continue to play until the disciplinary process is completed.

#2 San Diego Padres Fernando Tatis Jr has been placed on the ten day IL after getting a stress reaction on his right thigh bone. Tatis had been complaining about quadriceps injury Tatis had been examined for the stress reaction in his femur he had imaging work done a few days. Padres manager Mike Shildt said Tatis could play but it would better if he got rest.

#3 Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw is experiencing soreness during his rehab after having shoulder surgery. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that Kershaw has gone through throwing, velocity, and Roberts said that the soreness is where Kershaw is at right now. Kershaw had an MRI done and there had been no reports of new incidents.

#4 The San Francisco Giants held a very special tribute for the late great Giants outfielder Willie Mays who passed away last week Tuesday. Mays was honored by former and current players and the pre game ceremony was MC’d by Giants lead play by play announcer Jon Miller. It was the Giants first game at home since the passing of Mays.

#5 Amaury, we didn’t get the chance to talk to you about the 1974 Oakland A’s reunion at the Oakland Coliseum Sunday afternoon. The A’s paid tribute to their third World Series Championship team. The players who attended included Darold Knowles, Rollie Fingers, Dave Hamilton, Ted Kubiak, Dick Green, Herb Washington, Billy North, Blue Moon Odom, Joe Rudi, Gene Tenace, and Bert Campaneris. It was a special day for those players to see each other again. Knowles said that this would probably be the last time that this group we’ll be getting together.

Giants avoid shutout with ninth-inning double in 6-1 loss to Padres

The San Francisco Giants continued their series against the San Diego Padres on Saturday. The Giants lost to the Padres 6-1 at Petco Park. San Francisco fell to 70-66, while San Diego improved to 64-73.

The Giants’ starting lineup featured Austin Slater, Thairo Estrada, Wilmer Flores, Mitch Haniger, Patrick Bailey, J.D. Davis, Paul DeJong, Casey Schmitt, Wade Meckler, and Kyle Harrison. Harrison (1-1, 4.70 ERA) took the loss after pitching 5 2/3 innings and giving up six hits, six earned runs, two walks, five strikeouts, and four home runs.

The Padres got on the board first. Juan Soto homered on a fly ball to center field for a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.

The Padres tripled their lead in the bottom of the second inning. Xander Bogaerts homered on a fly ball to center field for a 2-0 lead. Gary Sanchez homered on a fly ball to center field for a 3-0 lead.

The Padres doubled their lead in the bottom of the sixth inning. Garrett Cooper homered on a fly ball to left center field. Juan Soto and Xander Bogaerts scored for a commanding 6-0 lead.

The Giants wrapped up the scoring in the top of the ninth inning. Austin Slater doubled on a sharp line drive to Fernando Tatis Jr. Casey Schmitt scored to cut the Padres’ lead to 6-1. Wade Meckler went to third base.

Wilmer Flores achieved a career-high 20 home runs in the Giants-Padres game Friday.

The Giants and Padres will finish their series on Sunday at 1:10 p.m. Pacific. Alex Cobb (7-5, 3.57 ERA) will start for the Giants, while Seth Lugo (5-6, 3.67 ERA) will start for the Padres.

#1 Stephen, the Los Angeles Angels two way player Shohei Ohtani according to Angels owner Arturo Moreno will not be traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers before this month’s trade deadline. The Angels do not want to deal Ohtani to a California team.

#2 Ohtani could wind up as a rental in Baltimore. The Orioles are second in the AL East and could either get Ohtani as a rental or get him as a free agent. Either way an acquisition of Ohtani could spell big things for the Orioles who knocking at the East’s door.

#3 Stephen, the San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants are strong candidates in the Ohtani free agency sweepstakes but the Padres have a pretty big payroll with Manny Machado, Fernando Tatis Jr, and Juan Soto will they add another $700 million to their payroll and the Giants may not spend that type of money for Ohtani.

#4 Former Cincinnati Reds catcher Johnny Bench made an antisemetic joke on Sunday at a Reds press conference about former Cincinnati Reds general manager Gabe Paul who Pete Rose said paid him $400 per month when someone said “that’s cheap” and Bench interjected saying “He was Jewish” later Bench asked Paul’s daughter Jennie Paul if she was offended where Jennie replied she didn’t hear what Bench said. Bench apologized to Jennie and said that his remark took away from Paul’s achievement.

#5 The San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado joined the 300 home run club in the first game of a doubleheader in Philadelphia on Saturday with the score tied 3-3 and a 2-2 count and facing the Phils pitcher Matt Strahm, Machado hit a 94 MPH fastball 425 feet into the second deck at Citizens Bank Ballpark in Philadelphia. The Padres didn’t win 6-4 but Machado got the milestone.

OAKLAND–Out in Toronto, in San Diego and Atlanta, play three of the most talented players in the game today, the three are MVP-franchise-caliber players. They have one thing in common, they are exciting in everything they do, great talent and flair all rolled into one.

These are the type of players that get the attention of the new baseball generation of young fans. More than launch-angle, and exit velocity and everything else that is served on a plate for fans today, these are the player’s baseball needs. These three are among the real “influencers” that promote the game and can bring the type of attention that many say baseball is lacking behind the NFL and NBA.

Toronto’s first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is 22 years old, batting .344 with 21 home runs and 55 runs-batted-in (on top of most offensive departments in MLB) just on his third year in the majors.

His dad Vladimir Guerrero a superstar who was inducted as a LA Angel to the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown in 2018 and who could hit any pitch, wherever it was thrown, plus owned a Clemente-type of arm from right field, taught his son Guerrero Jr. how to play the game since he began to walk.

Anytime you asked Guerrero about Jr., his face broke out in a smile. Guerrero Jr. personality seems to be like his Hall of Fame father, happy-go-lucky type of player with talent that some would say is on loan from God. During this past winter he shed 42 pounds.

When his father visited Angel Stadium after his induction into the Hall of Fame he came to the Fox Sports Spanish broadcast and told us, when asked why his son was not there Sr. said he didn’t wanted his son there, that he was better to continue playing baseball in the minor leagues.

Fernando Tatis Jr., 22 years old. He is the San Diego Padres shortstop. He who signed a deal with the Padres for $330 million with a full no-trade provision through 2028, the phrase “Slam Diego” has been coined at PETCO Park since this young man arrived which has created a kind of contagious excitement that has never been seen there.

The Padres hope to win a World Series this year; they are the only major league team in California with no World Series hardware. His real Padre, Fernando Sr. who was a third-baseman for 11 years, owns a unique MLB record; he hit two grand slams in the same inning while playing for St Louis at Dodger Stadium in 1999.

I would not be surprised if Junior duplicates that record. What story would that be, there is no limit to this kid talent. At the time of this article Fernando Tatis Jr. was hitting .279 with 19 home runs and 55 runs batted in.

Ronald Acuña Jr. Atlanta Braves right fielder, he is 23 years old and the “veteran” among the trio. Acuña Jr. has been playing with the Braves for four years. In 2019 he ended the season hitting .280 with 41 home runs and 101 RBI.

This season, as of today, he was hitting .292 with 18 home runs and 39 RBI. Acuña Jr. is one of the elite players in the game in the town where the great Hank Aaron once played to my liking, Aaron is the legitimate Home run king.

There is another young player today that people have to watch all the time, Shohei Othani, the Japanese phenom is doing something that has not been done since Babe Ruth, he can pitch and he can hit, and do both very well.

Last week he hit a home run to right center field at Angel Stadium, estimated to be 470 feet which his manager Joe Maddon said “That’s the farthest ball I’ve ever seen hit here” and continued “I’ve never seen one hit there before”. Maddon served as bench coach for manager Mike Scioscia in the early 2000, winning a World Series in 2002. He had spent over 30 years with the Angels organization. Now he is back as their skipper

These are the players that can bring people to baseball. Othani is in town for three games starting tonight against the Oakland Athletics. The A’s hold a two-game lead on top of Houston in the AL West, but the Angels now in third place are red hot (even without Mike Trout) and have won six games in a row and are only six games out of first place, with a lot of baseball left this season.

#1 Giants broadcaster Duane Kuiper, A’s broadcaster Glenn Kuiper, and Giants TV producer Jeff Kuiper will all fly to Racine, Wisconsin in preparation of the funeral for their father Henry, who passed away at age 94. Henry was a auctioneer and a farmer locally in Racine and allowed a restaurant to be built on his property. He also was involved in fast pitch baseball and would not let Duane drive the tractor on the family farm because Duane could not drive the tractor straight, leaving ziz zags embarrassing the farming community.

#2 San Diego Padres’ Fernando Tatis Jr. will sit out the rest of the 2019 season with a back injury. Tatis was a candidate for the 2019 Rookie of the Year award, hitting .317, 13 doubles, 22 home runs, and 53 RBIs in 84 games.

#3 The Boston Red Sox, like much of the American League, crushed the Baltimore Orioles on Friday night with a 9-1 win. Andrew Benintendi and Mitch Moreland got RBI triples and Sox pitcher Rick Porchello pitched six innings, giving up only one run in the victory. For the O’s, it was their fifth straight loss.

#4 Big win for the Minnesota Twins on Friday night with a narrow 4-3 victory over the Texas Rangers. The Twins maintain a 1.5 game lead in the AL Central over the second place Cleveland Indians. The Twins’ Max Kepler and Jonathan Schoop got two-run homers in Arlington Texas.

#5 The Los Angeles Dodgers are just simply running away with it in the NL West. They picked up another victory over the Atlanta Braves 8-3 at Sun Trust Stadium. LA’s Cody Bellinger hit for home run number 41. The Dodgers’ Max Muncy and Justin Turner both hit home runs in the victory Friday night.
