#1 In speaking with other reporters Amaury the aftermath of the Rob Manfred-Bryce Harper F bomb tirade is considered the first volley as the Players Union and the Commissioner’s office teed off in the clubhouse in Philadelphia as the CBA expires at the end of the next year with a chance that the 2027 season could be locked out.

#2 Ronald Acuna Jr the Atlanta Braves outfielder had to leave Tuesday night’s game against the Kansas City Royals due to tightness in his right Achilles tendon. Acuna was put on the 10 day injured list on Wednesday morning. Aucna was chasing a ball in right field and felt tightness in the Achilles. The Braves medical staff will be checking Acuna Wednesday before their game.

#3 As New York Yankees superstar Aaron Judge is out with an arm injury the Yankees traded for outfielder Austin Slater from the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday. The Yankees are trying to strengthen their line up without Judge and might make some more moves before Thursday’s trade deadline. The Sox got minor league pitcher Gage Ziehl for Slater.

#4 Amaury the San Francisco Giants are on a five game losing streak, they have the worst record in baseball since July 9 at 3-12 (.250). People on the talk shows and the sports writers are asking questions. One of those has been is there any difference from the way the club is being ran since former Giants president Farhan Zaidi left to the it’s being ran with team president Buster Posey or it’s neither one of their faults and the buck stops with team CEO Larry Baer who signs off on who comes and goes?

#5 The Sacramento A’s after sweeping the Houston Astros in four games in Houston have won five of their last six games. The A’s are going well getting hitting from their big boppers Brent Rooker, Lawrence Butler, Nick Kurtz, and Jacob Wilson. They’ve also been getting some great pitching from their starters JP Sears, JT Gin, Jacob Lopez and Luis Severino.

#1 Boston Red Sox Wilver Abreu’s grand slam and inside the park home run helped in a 13-6 win over the Cincinnati Reds Monday night at Fenway Park. Abreu is the first player since Roger Maris in 1958 to hit a grand slam and inside the park home run. Abreu was 2-5 with five RBIs. Jacoby Ellsbury was the last Boston player to hit an inside the park homer on Sep 19, 2011.

#2 Philadelphia Phillies Bryce Harper who came off the ten day IL after getting hit in the right wrist returned after a month off and started at first base on Monday night while hitting in the three hole against the San Diego Padres. Harper wound up getting hit on the left foot and later walked and hit into a unassisted double play and 0-2. Just the same the Phillies are glad to have Harper back in the line up.

#3 Seattle Mariners switch pitcher Jurrangelo Cijintje was the first of nine draft pick from 2024 was selected to represent the Mariners at the All Star Futures game at Truist Park on Jul 12 in Cobb County. Cijintje is a 22 year old from the Netherlands and was the 15th overall pick. Cijintje was 4-4 ERA 4.88 with 12 starts and three relief appearances at High A Everett.

#4 San Francisco Giants infielder Casey Schmitt was placed on the ten day IL on Monday suffering from left hand inflammation after getting hit by a 95 mph sinker by Miami Marlins pitcher Calvin Faucher in the bottom of the ninth inning at Oracle Park in 8-5 loss. The Giants ended up recalling Tyler Fitzgerald from Triple A Sacramento and started against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday night.

#5 Sacramento A’s Shea Langeliers hit a three run home run in his first at bat since returning from the IL and Lawrence Butler hit a two run triple to break a ninth inning deadlock as the A’s defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 6-4 on Monday night at George M Steinbrenner Field in Tampa Fl. The A’s also came up with some defense making defensive plays in the bottom of the eighth to keep the game tied up at 4-4.

#1 It is with sadness to report that former Oakland A’s outfielder and better known with the Pittsburgh Pirates Dave Parker has passed away at 74 years old. Parker a two time World Series Champion his cause of death was disclosed by the Pirates on Saturday. Parker hit .290, 2712 hits, 339 homers, and 1493 RBIs. Parker was part of that A’s 1988 and 1989 World Series teams.

#2  Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Shohei Ohtani threw the fastest pitch in his MLB career clocking in at 101.7 mph and pitched two innings allowing one hit, one walk against the Kansas City Royals on Saturday night at Kaufman Stadium. It was the first time that Ohtani pitched more than one inning this season.

#3 Former Texas Ranger Elvis Andrus received a plaque and entered the Rangers Hall of Fame. Andrus was a close to National Hall of Famer and former Ranger Adrian Beltre for eight seasons they played together. Beltre said of Elvis, “He’s one of the best ballplayers to play here with the Rangers. He did so many things to make our ballclub better when we played.”

#4  Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Bryce Harper at Truist Park in Cobb County faced live pitching for the first time since he was place on the IL back on June 6. Harper is going through hitting in the cage after suffering an injury to his right wrist. Harper was on the ten day IL and traveled to Atlanta and take in a morning workout.

#5 The only way the Sacramento A’s are going to beat one of the most powerful teams in MLB the New York Yankees is by good pitching they got that out of a combination of two pitchers. Starter JP Sears had himself a good outing 5.2 innings, allowing two hits, three walks and four strikeouts. A’s reliever Jack Perkins pitched 3.1 innings allowed one hit, one walk and three strikeouts to get the 3-0 shutout.

#1 The Los Angeles Angels are expected to activate outfielder Mike Trout Friday night before their game against the Cleveland Guardians. The Angels have optioned Matthew Lugo to Triple-A Salt Lake City on Thursday. Trout suffered left knee soreness on April 30th and had to leave the game against the Seattle Mariners in the fourth inning. Trout last season had to have two surgeries on the knee due to a meniscus tear.

#2 What a great career for Atlanta Braves pitcher Chris Sale who is the fastest pitcher to strikeout 2,500 batters. Sale pitched six inning of shutout ball against the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday in a 9-3 win in the night cap of a doubleheader which which the Phillies won the front game 5-4. In the sixth inning of the second game Sale struck out Edmundo Sosa in the sixth inning it was Sale’s eighth strikeout of the game to reach the 2,500 career strikeouts mark. Sale joins three other active pitchers to have achieved the record, Clayton Kershaw, Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer.

#3 The Seattle Mariners shortstop JP Crawford was livid over a third strike call by umpire Andy Fletcher on Thursday night on a pitch that Crawford argued was outside. Fletcher didn’t waste anytime into the argument and tossed Crawford from the game. With runners at the corners in the sixth inning against the Washington Nationals with a 2-0 lead. Nats pitcher MacKenzie Gore threw a pitch to Crawford that the pitch chart showed was outside. You could hear Crawford on the crowd mic yelling “That’s not a strike man” to which the argument was too close for comfort and manager Dan Wilson had to come out and restrain Crawford.

#3 Philadelphia Phillies star Bryce Harper was out of Thursday’s first game of a doubleheader versus the Atlanta Braves and was also not in the starting line up in the second game. This after being hit in the elbow with a pitch on Tuesday. Harper took a 95.3 fastball in the elbow from Atlanta Braves pitcher Spencer Strider. Harper had suffered swelling and pain.

#4 The Sacramento A’s continue to struggle losing their 14 out 15th game on Thursday night against the Toronto Blue Jays 12-0 at Rogers Centre in Toronto. The Jays cut through the A’s pitching like butter with four home runs and a eight run second inning. The first two pitchers for the A’s were lit up. Starter Jacob Lopez in 1.2 innings of work allowed six hits and seven earned runs. A’s reliever Anthony Maldonado pitched an inning allowing four hits and four earned runs. Question how will manager Mark Kotsay stop the bleeding?

#5 The San Francisco Giants Kyle Harrison (0-1 ERA 3.86) gets the start again against the Miami Marlins on Friday night in Miami. Harrison in his last game pitched four innings allowing five hits and two earned runs. Giants have lost six of their last ten games. How do you see Harrison Friday night against the Marlins to open the series?

#1 The Athletics selling out season tickets at Sutter Health Park in Sacramento does that signal that this relocation by the A’s was a successful idea or this is just a honeymoon in Sacramento and the A’s will eventually struggle in the standing like they had in past seasons?

#2 According to AI the most popular MLB Hispanic player of all time is former Pittsburgh Pirate Roberto Clemente who began his career in 1955 and in his second year in 1956 hit .311. After 1956 he hit above .300 in seven different seasons. He was defined as a pure hitter who drove in runs as well as being able to scores runs as well.

#3 According insiders three MLB teams were taken off Japanese pitcher Roki Sasaki’s desired list the New York Yankees and Mets and the Texas Rangers. Sources are saying that Sasaki is down to three clubs the Toronto Blue Jays, the Los Angeles Dodgers, or the San Diego Padres. The San Francisco Giants have backed out of pursuing Sasaki. Sasaki is under 25 years old and is classified as a amateur and his salary will be limited from $5.1 million to $7.5 million per year. He will be regarded as a rookie phenom and could conger up endorsements that could add more to his finances depending how he performs in his MLB debut.

#4 Sasaki is another big signing possibility that has passed up the Giants. The Giants over the last two seasons missed signing in 2024 the likes of Bryce Harper, Aaron Judge, and Shohei Ohtani. For 2025 the Giants so far have missed out on the following free agent signings Juan Soto, Ha Seong Kim, and Corbin Burnes. They managed to sign Willy Adames and Justin Verlander. The Giants last Thursday avoided going to arbitration with LaMonte Wade Jr, and relivers Camilo Doval and Tyler Rogers. Are there a number of big name free agents avoiding San Francisco for specific reasons based on how the team has been a revolving door for managers, general managers, and team president changes and how CEO Larry Baer and team managing partner Greg Johnson who have final say have not been able to sign high profile players?

#5 The Seattle Mariners agreed to a one year deal with infielder Donovan Solano for $3.5 million. Also Solano could earn up to $1 million for plate appearances that ramp up to $200,00 for at bats totaling 300, 350, 400, 450, and 500. Solano hit .286, eight home runs, and 35 RBIs in 96 games with the San Diego Padres.

#1 Its the moment that the San Diego Padres have been waiting for the return of Fernando Tatis Jr. Tatis had been on the IL for the last two months right thighbone. Tatis returned Monday night against the Detroit Tigers. The Padres are happy to see Tatis back who batted second on Monday and with the Padres tied with the Arizona Diamondbacks for first in the NL Wild Card they want to take advantage of his bat.

#2 The Milwaukee Brewers Willy Adames stretched his home run streak to five games which ties a team record. Monday was no exception he Adames extended the streak with a three home run home run in the first inning victory over the St Louis Cardinals 9-3 at American Family Park in Milwaukee.

#3 The Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton was sent to Triple A St Paul on Monday. The Twins are counting getting Buxton back into action. Buxton last played on Aug 12th and has been out with right hip inflammation. Twins look forward to getting him back in the line up. Buxton was hitting .275, 16 home runs, 49 RBIs in 90 games.

#4 The Kansas City Royals manager Matt Quantaro did not manage on Monday due to a personal matter. Bench coach Paul Hoover managed the game on Monday. The Royals did not say how long that Quantaro will be out. The Royals are in third place in the AL West and are in third place in the AL Wild Card 4.5 games in front of the Boston Red Sox.

#5 Amaury, as you know a number of Major League players are not happy about the idea of an Oakland A’s relocation. Over this past season they have expressed their disappointment about the A’s leaving Oakland it may not influence anything but let’s review, the Philadelphia Phillies Bryce Harper who resides in Las Vegas said “It’s a tough thing to see the A’s go away from Oakland. They have so much tradition and history there: the green, the yellow, the white cleats,” and the Arizona Diamondbacks Paul Sewald said, “I think it’s a terrible idea,” the Arizona closer said. “The whole thing, I fear, is going to be an abject disaster.”

#1 Charlie, how bad of a look is it for baseball to have Shohei Ohtani’s interpreter allegedly stealing some $4.5 million from Ohtani to use it to gamble with an illegal bookmaker with Ohtani’s name on it. The big question is from the face of the story and everything we know does it look like or appear that Ohtani could have had a hand in this scandal based on the money transfers being in Ohtani’s name? Ippei Mizuhara the interpreter reportedly has said that Ohtani didn’t have anything to do with gambling which is being investigated by the US Attorney’s office.

#2 Baltimore Orioles former owner Peter Angelos has passed away at age 94. He oversaw an Orioles organization that had it’s highs and lows but the one thing everyone will remember him by his when got the plans together in the early 90s to build Camden Yards which opened in 1992. It was the ballpark that started other major league franchises to want a new ballpark for themselves. Angelos commandeered the idea of having the Orioles play a exhibition series against the Cuban National team in Havana Cuba on March 28, 1999. It was the first time that any team from the US played in Cuba since 1959. Later that season the the same two teams met again on May 3 at Camden Yards.

#3 The Philadelphia Phillies Bryce Harper who hasn’t played in a exhibition game since Mar 14th was in the line up against the New York Yankees yesterday. Harper had been out with sore back. Harper played in a simulated game on Friday and got in the line up on Saturday. Harper had back spasms last season.

#4 The San Francisco Giants announced that they will begin looking for a new PA announcer to replace the popular Renel Brooks Moon who had been the Giants PA announcer for 24 seasons. The Giants plan to rotate PA announcers during the season until they settle on someone they will hire. The Giants said they couldn’t reach a deal with Renel and sources say she wasn’t rehired because she was outspoken on social injustice issues.

#5 The Oakland 68s and the Last Dive Bar two Oakland A’s fan groups have voice their displeasure regarding the Oakland A’s cutting the usual opening night parking lot time from four hours down to two hours. The A’s say that the expect a low attendance for Thu Mar 28th and that opening the lot for four hours before the game would not be necessary. The 68s and the Last Dive Bar call the A’s decision “mind games” and a deliberate way to cut into their parking lot boycott that they planned.

Big Star Free Agents do not come to San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO–Last year, the Giants tried to lure free agents Aaron Judge and Carlos Correa, but they failed; other big stars like Bryce Harper (when he was a Free-Agent) have spurned the Giants. It has become much more common now that many big-name free-agent players dislike coming and playing in San Francisco.

It is not the money because the players I am talking about get the cash they want anywhere. It could be about the reputation that San Francisco has nationwide nowadays. Could it be the City by the Bay social-political situation has become not a favorite destination for some of the game’s biggest stars?

Most of these big-name free-agent players that get those multi-million dollar contracts tend to be conservative or non-political, and sometimes San Francisco doesn’t ‘rub them well”. They are all aware of this because, in today’s communication world, there is more than enough information out there, especially in social media.

This is what Farhan Zaidi, GM of the Giants, told Sussan Slusser of the SF Chronicle last year: “When we’re doing our research on free agents, and we find that players aren’t really that happy even coming into town for a three-game series, they’re probably not going to be that excited to play there for a long time.

So I think that’s part of what fueled our strategy of targeting guys with Bay Area ties. … Free agency is really, really competitive, especially at the top of the market. Even when you think you can sign a player, you’re probably not; that’s how it works. So when you don’t think you’ll sign a player, you’re definitely not going to sign him.”

No team needed Ohtani more than the Giants, but he is also not coming here. After Shohei Ohtani signed with the Dodgers, another Japanese player remains of high value; it is pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto, the best pitcher in Japan; estimates of this 25-year-old pitching star are that he could earn as much as a $300 million contract, and the Dodgers (of course) will go after him to paired him with Ohtani as they both won the 2023 World Baseball Classic together and have been playing together for years now.

Other free agents are Cody Bellinger, Matt Chapman, Jung-Hoo Lee, Teoscar Hernández, JD Martínez, Dylan Cease, Blake Snell, Corbin Burns, and Tyler Glasnow. Giants could use some more power in that lineup; Bellinger might be a good choice.

This 2023 off-season, the Giants went after Shohei Ohtani (who, like Aaron Judge last year, was the biggest fish to catch). Still, Ohtani decided to stay in Southern California and signed the richest-ever contract in American sports with the Los Angeles Dodgers, a 10-year mega-deal for $700 million.

Another reason for Giants fans to hate the Dodgers, but at this time, the Giants fans cannot be pleased with their General Manager Pete Putila. Is he a victim of circumstances that are beyond his control? What can you do if you offer big money contracts but players do not consider your offers? The mega-stars are not coming to San Francisco.

Note: Tom Cruise made $100 million for “Top Gun: Maverick,” his most recent movie, a worldwide success. Ohtani is making $700 million in 10 years with the Dodgers, also in Hollywood.

#1 The New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays got into two bench clearing dust ups at Tropicana Park in Tampa Bay. The first one was when the Rays Randy Arozarena was hit by a pitch by Yankees pitcher Albert Abreu. Some of the players needed to be held back by the coaches and umpires. After the field was cleared play continued. Arozarena stole second and third base and at third base started jawing with Abreu and the benches emptied again.

#2 Stephen, sad week, we’ve had a baseball player, radio talk show host and an official scorer pass away this past week. Former KNBR talk show host Mychal Urban, former MLB official scorer Art Santo Domingo, and now former Cleveland Guardian’s manager Pat Corrales passed away on Sunday at age 82. Los Angeles Dodgers president Stan Kasten said that Corrales worked hard, had a long list of players he influenced and that Pat truly loved the game. Urban was a talk show host and passed away early last week and Santo Domingo passed away on Friday was an MLB official scorer.

#3 Chicago interim police superintendent said Monday that the two women who were shot at Guarantee Rate Field had most likely been shot inside of the ballpark. Officials said they have no idea where the bullets came from but have ruled out that the bullets came from outside of the park. The shooting took place on Friday during the Oakland A’s-Chicago White Sox game.

#4 Stephen, the Toronto Blue Jays have their share of IL headaches as Matt Chapman has been placed on the 10 day IL for a sprained right middle finger and shortstop Bo Bichette is scheduled for an MRI for a sore right quadriceps. The Blue Jays are 2.5 game out of the AL Wild Card and will badly miss Chapman and Bichette out of the line up.

Giants lose 10-4 to Phillies in series opener

The San Francisco Giants visited Citizens Bank Park to play a three-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies. The Giants lost 10-4 to the Phillies in the series opener.

The Giants fell to 65-60, while the Phillies improved to 68-57. Giants pitcher Sean Manaea (4-4, 5.06 ERA) took the loss, while Phillies pitcher Aaron Nola (11-8, 4.49 ERA) got the win.

The Giants’ starting lineup featured LaMonte Wade Jr., Joc Pederson, Wilmer Flores, Michael Conforto, Patrick Bailey, Johan Camargo, Blake Sabol, Wade Meckler, Casey Schmitt, and Scott Alexander. Alexander pitched just 2/3 innings and gave up three hits, one earned run, and two strikeouts.

The Giants wasted no time getting on the board. Joc Pederson homered on a line drive to right field for a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning.

But the Phillies quickly responded. Bryce Harper singled on a line drive to Blake Sabol, and Trea Turner scored to tie the game 1-1 in the bottom of the first inning.

The Phillies took their first lead of the game in the bottom of the second inning. Edmundo Sosa homered on a fly ball to center field, and Bryson Stott scored to make it 3-1.

The Giants made it a one-run game in the top of the third inning. LaMonte Wade Jr. homered on a fly ball to center field to cut the Phillies’ lead to 3-2.

The Phillies regained the lead in the bottom of the third inning. Alec Bohm homered on a fly ball to center field to make it 4-2. An umpire reviewed Bohm’s home run, and the call on the field was upheld.

The Phillies added to their lead in the bottom of the fifth inning. Bryce Harper hit an inside-the-park home run on a fly ball to left-center field to make it 5-2. Bryson Stott doubled on a line drive to Michael Conforto, and Alec Bohm scored for a 6-2 lead as J.T. Realmuto went to third base.

The Phillies took a double-digit lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. Johan Rojas tripled on a sharp line drive to Wade Meckler, and Alec Bohm and J.T. Realmuto scored to make it 8-2. Kyle Schwarber homered on a fly ball to right field, and Johan Rojas scored for a commanding 10-2 lead.

The Giants bounced back in the top of the ninth inning but were still down by six runs. Johan Camargo was hit by a pitch, and Wilmer Flores scored to reduce the Phillies’ lead to 10-3 as Heliot Ramos went to second base. Blake Sabol singled on a ground ball to Trea Turner that was deflected by Dylan Covey, and Luis Matos scored to cut the Phillies’ lead to 10-4 as Heliot Ramos went to third base and Johan Camargo went to second base.
