#1 With Brock Purdy back under center for the San Francisco 49ers he didn’t miss a step when he came back in his win over the Arizona Cardinals. He’s back last week from his turf toe injury and will face the Carolina Panthers on Monday Night Football. How confident are the 49ers that Purdy can stay consistent and he’s ready to carry this team to the post season?

#2 The Las Vegas Raiders (2-9) never could catch up to the Cleveland Browns (3-8) Sunday getting beat 24-10 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. The Raiders quarterback Geno Smith just couldn’t get neither the run or passing game to get on the scoreboard. For Smith Sunday going 30-44 for 285 yards and one interception. The Raiders were shutout in the first and third quarters. The Raiders defense were having a decent game they shutout the Browns in the first and third quarters but it wasn’t enough to close the game out in a 14 point loss at home.

#3 The Texas Department of Public Safety released on Friday details of how former defensive end of the Dallas Cowboys Marshawn Kneeland detail from police body camera, dash camera, and drone videos after officer had found Kneeland dead from a self inflicted gunshot wound in early November. Kneeland’s body was found in a portable toilet outhouse between two office buildings in Frisco Texas.

#4 The San Francisco 49ers had voided wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk’s contract worth $27 million for the 2026 season. The question had been about Aiyuk’s future with the 49ers and was he who wanted to void the contract so he can become a free agent in 2026 or was it the 49ers idea to part company with him. “I’ve been coaching over 20 years, and I’ve never been in a situation where a contract’s been voided,” Shanahan said. “It’s extremely unusual to me.”

#5 Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow did not play on Sunday against the New England Patriots the Patriots announced on Saturday. Burrow is suffering from turf toe and has not played since week two. Burrow did practice on Wednesday and Thursday. The Bengals had a game on Sunday and also on Thanksgiving day. While it’s reported that Burrow is close to returning when according to the Bengals is the real question.

Headline Sports podcast with Charlie O: NBA coaches say Kings downfall not coach Brown’s fault; Did all the social displeasure put pressure on A’s Kaval?; plus more news

Indiana Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle said the firing of Sacramento Kings head coach Mike Brown was shocking and that Brown is one of the standard bearers of coaches in the NBA (AP News photo)

On Headline Sports podcast with Charlie O:

#1 The Sacramento Kings who fired head coach Mike Brown on Friday certainly fired up a number of NBA head coaches. Knowing Brown’s reputation They felt this firing was not his fault, that the organization didn’t get him the pieces to win, he was the wrong guy to take the blame for the Kings five game losing streak and a foul call that ended up giving the Detroit Pistons a four score for shot for the one point win on Thursday night.

#2 Former A’s team president David Kaval who resigned on Friday was well talked about amongst the media and was remembered for saying once upon a time that the A’s were rooted in Oakland but that quickly changed in June 2023 when Kaval announced that they were headed to Las Vegas and were not reupping at the Oakland Coliseum and playing their interim years in Sacramento. Needless to say Kaval was very unpopular. Do you think public pressure and the huge criticism that he received eventually forced Kaval to resign?

#3. The Las Vegas Raiders who snapped their ten game losing streak against the Jacksonville Jaguars in their last game Sunday 19-14 at Allegiant Stadium. According to at NFL Rumors the Raiders plan to part ways with head coach Antonio Pierce after the last game of the season on Sun Jan 5th when the Raiders conclude their season with the Los Angeles Chargers.

#4 The Golden State Warriors loses continue to pile up as they have lost five of their last seven games and it had head coach Steve Kerr saying regarding his line ups, “I would love to get to a set starting line up. said Kerr. “I’m confident we’ll get there.” No one talks about it but with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green both struggling on offense and defense some are questioning if their getting to the point that their time has come to an end in the NBA?

#5 The San Francisco 49ers have lost five of their last six games losing their most recently to the Miami Dolphins 29-17 at Miami Gardens last Sunday. They lost left tackle Trent Williams for the rest of the season due to a ankle injury, line backer Dre Greenlaw (calf), guard Jaylon Moore (quadriceps), guard Aaron Banks (knee), running back Christian McCaffrey (knee), and Brandon Aiyuk (ACL). With these injuries and one of the toughest teams in the NFL the Detroit Lions (13-2) coming to Levi Stadium for Monday Night Football it could be a long evening for San Francisco?

San Francisco 49ers podcast with David Zizmor: Major injuries in 49ers line up can they still handle Cowboys Sunday?

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk (11) was injured on this played when he was hit by Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Trent McDuffie (left) and and safety Chamarri Conner (right) tearing Aiyuk’s MCL and ACL on Sun Oct 20, 2024 at Levi Stadium in Santa Clara. Aiyuk will miss the rest of the 2024 season. (AP News photo)

On the SF 49ers podcast with David Zizmor:

#1 San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel was released from the hospital after contracting pneumonia. Samuel was hospitalized at a local hospital. Samuel was in for four plays against the Kansas City Chiefs last Sunday before he left the game and went to the hospital. 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan is not sure if Samuel will be able to play against the Dallas Cowboys this Sunday.

#2 David, talk about Brandon Aiyuk who looked like he was hit in the legs on a play where he tore his ACL and MCL which will require surgery and force Aiyuk out for the rest of the season. 48 seconds into the second quarter received the injury when 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy got a pass between Kansas City defensive backs Chamarri Conner and Trent McDuffie which Aiyuk caught for a 15 yard gain. as Conner and McDuffie closed in on Aiyuk the hit hyperextended his knee.

#3 The 49ers now host the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football for a 5:20pm PT kick off at Levi Stadium. The Cowboys got clobbered in their last game against the Detroit Lions 47-9 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. The Cowboys just couldn’t stop Detroit’s offense and couldn’t get any traction against their defense. Considering some of the 49ers key injuries could this one end up being a close game in Santa Clara.

San Francisco 49ers podcast with David Zizmor: Aiyuk and 49ers finally reach four year $120 million deal

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk (11) is no doubt relieved to have signed an extension with the 49ers for four years at $120 million (file photo by Sports Illustrated)

On the San Francisco 49ers podcast with David Zizmor:

#1 It was an offer that had been sitting on the table since Aug 12th and on Aug 29th San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk who was holding in signed for $120 million for four years. Aiyuk could have been hoping to see if that $120 figure would go up.

#2 Dave, how badly did you see how these negotiations went which was going back and forth these last two months.

#3 A couple reporters in Pittsburgh made it sound that Aiyuk was pretty much signed, sealed and delivered. Steelers fans who are passionate about their team have expressed their disappointment on social media. No one from the Steelers front office had guaranteed that Aiyuk was coming to Pittsburgh in the first place.

On San Francisco 49ers podcast with David Zizmor:

#1 Regarding San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk it’s of matter him saying I want what Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeCee Lamb who the Cowboys signed to a four year $136 million and the contract calls for $100 million in guaranteed money.

#2 Looking at Lamb’s contract might in luck to getting a big pay day like Lamb but will the 49ers be willing to give Aiyuk that kind of a big pay day?

#3 Taking a look at Brock Purdy in that last game against the Las Vegas Raiders has Purdy lost some of that shine that he had or is one pre season game just an aberration of who Purdy really is?

San Francisco 49ers podcast with David Zizmor: 49ers getting closer to a deal with Aiyuk

San Francisco 49ers Brandon Aiyuck and the 49ers are reportedly getting closer to settling a deal on a contract extension (AP file photo)

SF 49ers podcast with David Zizmor:

#1 Dave, no doubt the 49ers want to get this deal done with wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk and from the sound of things on Tuesday the two sides might be closer to a deal. They put off the Pittsburgh Steelers trade that was on the table. The Niners and Aiyuk are trying to work the numbers but their getting closer.

#2 There is no doubt that the 49ers want to get this deal done and not let Aiyuk get away. The 49ers know that he’s had a great run with the team. The 49ers have made multiple offers to try to get him signed and he could have easily have taken other offers but it sound like he want to stay on a team that was in the Super Bowl last season.

#3 Dave, 49ers and Raiders match up for the last pre season game on Fri Sep 23 a 7:00pm kick off. 49ers at quarterback used Joshua Dobbs in their last game against the New Orleans Saints. Dobbs has started in the 49ers last two 49ers exhibition games and it’s most likely he’ll get the call on Friday night.

On the 49ers podcast with David:

#1 Reports have surfaced that San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk does have a deal in place with the Pittsburgh Steelers pending approval of the 49ers. The 49ers might be trying to work something out with Aiyuk as they consider him one of the main key players to help them get to the post season. As of Tuesday Aiyuk has not been dealt to the Steelers.

#2 George Kittle said that they miss Aiyuk in practice but his absence gives a lot of the younger guys a lot of reps that they wouldn’t get otherwise if Aiyuk had been in all the practices.

#3 The San Francisco 49ers opened their first pre season with a 17-13 loss to the Tennessee Titans last Saturday in Tennessee. 49ers quarterback Joshua Dobbs was 14-20, 146 yards, and one interception. Although Dobbs is not a top contender for the starting job head coach Kyle Shanahan definitely wanted to get an idea what Dobbs can do. Dobbs didn’t throw an interception.

Headline Sports podcast with Bruce Magowan: While 49ers are negotiating with Steelers on an Aiyuk deal he could play with no extension; 49ers Thomas with broken forearm; plus more news

There two scenarios for wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk he could be traded to a team of his choosing or he could play out the final year of his contract (2024) with the 49ers (Nevada Sport Net photo file )

On Headline Sports podcast with Bruce Magowan:

#1 Bruce, just wanted to get your take on San Francisco 49ers Brandon Aiyuk whose been pushing for a trade. The Pittsburgh Steelers at the end of the business day on Friday made a bid for Aiyuk and the New England Patriots who were talking turkey but Aiyuk turned the Patriots offer down. The deal with the Steelers is a matter if there is something the 49ers and Pittsburgh can agree on. There is also a chance that Aiyuk could remain with the 49ers without an extension as this is his last year with the 49ers.

#2 It didn’t take long before the 49ers had sustained it’s first injury and that’s what happened to cornerback Ambry Thomas who broke his forearm in Saturday’s first pre season game in Tennessee. Thomas tried to tackle Titans quarterback Mason Rudolph but missed and collapsed on the field and when Thomas got up tried not to move his right arm and ran off the field letting the arm hang from the shoulder.

#3 Turning to baseball the San Francisco Giants have taken the first two games of this current series with the Detroit Tigers on Friday the Giants won it on a Chad Pinder sac fly that allowed the winning run to score from third base in the ninth and on Saturday the Giants rallied for three runs in the sixth inning and that’s all they needed for a 3-1 win over the Tigers. The Giants are now three games over .500 the for the first time since last season.

#4 Paris Olympics in men’s basketball The Team USA on Saturday put the Team France to bed in a 98-87. Team USA’s Stephen Curry led with 24 points five assists, and eight three pointers. Curry started out slow in the beginning of the games but is now into his rhythm. Curry hit four 3’s in the last 2:48 of the contest.

#5 Too much injuries in pre season football continues as the Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquise Brown went to the hospital for an exam after injuring his shoulder against the Jacksonville Jaguars Saturday. Brown ran for an 11 yard gain on a pass from quarterback Patrick Mahomes but after a gain of 11 was tackled and landed on his left shoulder. Word from the Chiefs Brown is expected to be out for significant period of time.

On the SF 49ers podcast with David Zizmor:

#1 The New England Patriots and Cleveland Browns have contract offers for San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk. Critics of the deal say he should leave a few mil on the table and have a chance to win every year with the 49ers.

#2 Midday on Tuesday the Pittsburgh Steelers have made offers for Aiyuk’s services but that talks had stalled. Later in the day talks resumed. Aiyuk is taking a look from all around.

#3 The latest towards the end of the business day on Tuesday has Aiyuk considering either the Browns or the Patriots. If Aiyuk goes to either team it’s unlikely he will be on a Super Bowl team with either one? Nick Bosa said that losing Aiyuk would create a big hole and that would impact any Super Bowl team.

#4 Las Vegas Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce has made it clear that the quarterback job is for the one who wants it most. Either Aidan O’Connell or Gardner Minshew. “I’d like to see — again, I’m going to keep saying it — somebody to just take it and say, ‘I’m the guy, Pierce told the AP during practice this week in Henderson NV “Make it clear and evident, and then we’ll make that decision at that point.”

#5 Raiders wide receiver Devante Adams said last season you saw raw emotion that there weren’t always the brightest points but said there was also some good moments too. Adams says that he’s in a good place right now and is happy to be in camp with the Raiders.
