#5 Mike Trout connected for a spring training home run on Wednesday it was his first home run in ten months and he’s recovered from his back problems and hopes to be swinging the bats for the Los Angeles Angels for 2025.

#6 Michael, talk about Anthony Rendon he’s expected in camp for the Angels and has had suffered injuries keeping him out of the line up at times over the last two seasons.

#7 The Dodgers owe eight players $1 billion did the Dodgers get into the red with the inflated payroll that they have.

#8 The salary cap has been a well talked about issue as the Collective Bargaining Agreement is up after the 2026 season it’s an issue that could trigger a players strike.

#1 Los Angeles Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon who has played only not more than 58 in his last four seasons of his current seven year $245 million contract has a left hamstring tear and the recovery is expected to be a long one. Rendon is frustrated by the injury saying he’s doing everything to stay out there but says nothing is working.

#2 The Baltimore Orioles top prospect Jackson Holliday has been optioned to the Orioles minor triple A affiliate Nashville after managing just two singles, two walks in 36 at bats spread over ten games. Holliday struck out 18 times and was hitting .059 with just one RBI.

#3 The Orioles were just stunned when they were beat in the opening game of their three game series on Friday night by the Oakland A’s 3-2. The A’s had beat the New York Yankees Thursday. That showed shades of maybe Oakland might be up for challenging some of the tougher teams in the American League. Then on Saturday the Orioles got some clutch hitting and pitching shutting down Oakland 5-0.

#4 Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani who was greeted by a thunderous rain of boos at Rogers Centre in Toronto and did what he could only do hitting his seventh home run against the Toronto Blue Jays. Ohtani said he was not surprised and that he got booed in the dugout too. Dave Roberts Dodgers manager said that was funny too. Ohtani knew he was booed after deciding to sign with the Dodgers rather than the Blue Jays in the off season.

#5 Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge why the slump? Judge is hitting .186 with four home runs and the topper was the loss to the A’s on Thursday and Judge earned the golden sombrero with his fourth strike out. Judge said that he’s had worse starts than this one and that you just have to keep on working.

#1 The Chicago Cubs seem pretty comfortable with the players that they have and didn’t have any big signings over the winter. The one big move they did make is signing manager Craig Counsell from their division rival the Milwaukee Brewers for $40 million. Not a bad pay day for a manager.

#2 How surprised are you that Los Angeles Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon said that baseball is not a priority for him and that he only plays the game for a living. Rendon was injured for most of the 2023 season and is back at the Angels spring training camp.

#3 The New York Yankees Juan Soto said that he won’t talk about his future past the 2024 season as makes his debut at George Steinbrenner Field in Tampa Florida for spring training. It been theorized that Soto wants to be a Yankee for life and would like an extension before the end of this season.

#4 Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that designated hitter Shohei Ohtani will not play in the spring training opener Thursday against the San Diego Padres. Roberts said that Ohtani is coming off elbow surgery and Roberts added he’s not sure when Ohtani will be in the line up this spring. Roberts did report that Ohtani is making progress coming off surgery.

#5 Amaury, we didn’t get a chance to talk to you about the recent signing of Jorge Soler with the San Francisco Giants for a three year $42 million deal. Soler told the media at the Giants training facility in Scottsdale AZ that he expects to have big numbers this season.

#1 Augie, the Houston Astros just holding onto the third position in the AL Wild Card and they are 1.5 games back of the Texas Rangers in the AL West. If the Astros get into post season they will be as tough as anyone in the American League playoffs.

#2 One thing the Atlanta Braves have to be concerned about is their pitching rotation which added Charlie Morton to the 15 IL today. Morton is suffering from a right sprain finger and can’t pitch NL Division Series. Morton (14-12 ERA 3.64) how much will he be missed for the beginning of the post season?

#3 Los Angeles Dodgers Mookie Betts set an Major League record for the most RBIs for a leadoff hitter in a season with 105. Betts hit an eighth inning double on Saturday night against the San Francisco Giants pitcher Ross Stripling to score Dodgers Austin Barnes and David Peralta.

#4 The Los Angeles Angels had already shut down Shohei Ohtani and Anthony Rendon now they have officially ended outfielder Mike Trout’s 2023 season as the injuries pile on the Angels. Trout who returned Aug 22after fracturing a hamate bone but was still in discomfort and returned to the 30 day IL. It was announced by the Angles Trout would be out for the rest of the season on Sunday.

#5 After the Pittsburgh Pirates took two out of three games from the Chicago Cubs in a previous series the Pirates came right and and rallied for nine runs against the Cincinnati Reds to come back and win 13-12. The Reds who have been suffering all season had their bullpen meltdown as the Pirates came back with nine runs to win it. The last time the Pirates came back to win scoring nine runs was way back in 1882.

#1 Chicago Cubs manager David Ross apologized in a text message to Pittsburgh Pirates manager Derek Shelton for saying the Pirates are not a very good team after the Pirates took two out three games from the Cubs this week. Ross said after apologizing and addressing the press that after games sometimes you can say the wrong things that don’t come out the right way.

#2 The Milwaukee Brewers Rowdy Tellez didn’t get an at bat on Friday night against the Miami Marlins but ended up putting them away in oder when he was called to pitch against them in the ninth. Tellez the Brewers first baseman came into pitch with the Brewers ahead 16-1.

#3 The Los Angeles Angels reported that third baseman Anthony Rendon will not play again for the rest of the season. Rendon had been out of action since July 4th. Rendon who has a leg injury fouled a pitch off his leg against the San Diego Padres, it was reported as a bruise but later confirmed as a fractured tibia.

#4 The Minnesota Twins picked up their third AL Central title in the last five seasons. The other two title wins were in 2019 and 2020. The Twins have won nine central titles and 13 division titles.

#5 Charlie, the New York Yankees Aaron Judge continues to amaze Judge hit three home runs and becomes the first Yankee to hit three home runs in a game twice in a season. The Yankees may not be going anywhere but Judge has been a silver lining.

#1 Los Angeles Angels two way star Shohei Ohtani cleared out his locker on Friday night and is done for the rest of the 2023 season. Ohtani has been out of the line up since Sep 4th is will need a procedure for his right elbow. Ohtani’s personal items were seen in a garbage can in the Angels clubhouse according to reporters and Ohtani didn’t speak to the media after taking batting practice in a cage before the game.

#2 Stephen, with former Oakland A’s and now San Diego Padres manager Bob Melvin was back in his old confines at the Oakland Coliseum. It gave Melvin who showed up at the ballpark at 11 AM time to run the stairs in the lower bowl of the Coliseum.

#3 Asked about the A’s move to Las Vegas Melvin said he hopes fans would enjoy the ballpark and hope that the A’s are in Oakland a lot longer then people expect. Meaning getting the extension at the Coliseum through the 2027 before they move to Vegas if it gets the owners approval.

#4 The Los Angeles Angels Anthony Rendon has been out a good two months and has not made himself available to talk about what was thought to be his bruised deep bone which outside doctors with no working relationship with the Angels said it was a fractured tibia.

#5 New York Yankees pitcher Anthony Misiewicz was hit in the head by line drive hit by the Pittsburgh Pirates Ji Hwan Bae which happened in the bottom of the sixth inning at PNC Park. Misiewicz was hit on the side of the head as the ball rolled to right field. Misiewicz stood up after getting hit and was escorted off the field via cart under the watchful eye of medical personnel and the Yankee trainer.

#6 If the bags are ever juiced and the Minnesota Twins Royce Lewis is coming to the plate his odds of hitting a grand slam home run are pretty good. Royce hit grand slam number four for the season a Twins record for a season on Friday night. Lewis said he thinks of the wins that comes with hitting the grand slam and he hopes his teammates hits some as well.

#1 Jessica the Los Angeles Angels are feeling the pain literally. First the Angels outfielder Mike Trout was placed on the 10 day IL after getting hit in the left wrist while hitting fracturing his hamate bone. Trout is expected to be out of action for four to eight weeks. Anthony Rendon left Tuesday’s game with a left shin bruise after fouling a ball off of it x-rays proved negative and pitcher Shohei Ohtani left same game with a blister, Ohtani had to leave during his previous start due to a cracked fingernail.

#2 Protestors from Just Stop Oil  Deborah Wilde and Simon Milner-Edwards were escorted off the court after disrupting the between Sho Shimabukuro and Grigor Dimitrov as Dimitrov was about to serve. Both Wilde and Edwards got on Court 18 and showered it with orange confetti. Wimbledon officials were expecting some kind of protest and had stepped up security prior to the matches.

#3 After some 20 ESPN employees had been laid off the face of ESPN Stephen A Smith said he could be next. The World Wide Network in sports laid off high profile talent, Jalen Rose, Jeff Van Gundy, and Keyshawn Johnson last week and Smith raised the issue of race feared that he could draw the short straw saying that as a black person “when white people catch a cold black people catch pneumonia.”

#4 Jessica, MLB has announced replacements for injured players for New York Yankees Aaron Judge (toe), Los Angeles Dodgers Clayton Kershaw (sore shoulder), and Los Angeles Mike Trout ( broken hamate bone) with Astros’ Kyle Tucker, the Rays’ Wander Franco and the Pirates’ David Bednar, also Seattle fans will be thrilled to know that Mariners Julio Rodriguez and George Kirby will also be replacements.

#5 The NBA will introduce penalties against players who flop trying to get referees to call undeserved fouls or fool fans into thinking that referees missed a foul call by exaggerating the effect of contact with an opposing player. The penalty for the flop will access the opposing team with one free throw and the player who flopped will be hit with a non unsportsmanshiplike conduct technical foul.

#1 The New York Yankees suspended pitcher Jimmy Cordero for domestic violence. The Yankees in a statement said they are aware of Cordero domestic violence policy violations saying “there is no justification for domestic violence.” Cordero is suspended for the remaining 76 games and the post season. Cordero a 3.86 ERA with 34 strikeouts and ten walks. No details of the domestic violence charge was disclosed.

#2 The Los Angeles Angels Mike Trout is out with a fracture left wrist and was put on the ten day IL, Anthony Rendon was injured after fouling a ball off his left leg and is suffering from a shin contusion and did not suffer an fractures, finally Angels star pitcher Shohei Ohtani will not play in the All Star game due to a blister in his last outing and had a cracked finger nail in his last start.

#3 On Tuesday Chicago Cubs manager David Ross took all he could after the Cubs saw a four run lead and beat the Milwaukee Brewers at American Family Park in Milwaukee. There were frustrations in the 11th inning when Cubs first base coach Mike Napoli shouted his disagreement with plate umpire Erich Bacchus on third strike call on Cubs hitter Dansby Swanson. Ross came out onto the field to argue and was also tossed out by Bacchus. The Cubs did come back to win it in 11, 7-6.

#4 Stephen talk about second baseman Thairo Estrada he’s suffering from a left hand fracture that will sideline him from two to six weeks. Estrada was hitting .272 with 79 hits, 9 home runs and 31 RBIs. The Giants will replace him with Casey Schmitt and Brett Wisley at second.

#5 What are the chances? The organization Schools over Stadiums has launched a petition campaign to put a bill on the ballot to stop the state of Nevada from using $380 million in public money to finance a new Las Vegas A’s ballpark at the Tropicana location. The campaign needs over 25,000 signatures in four Nevada districts to get the measure on the ballot and over 1 million votes to end the state’s public funding of the Las Vegas ballpark money Schools over Stadiums say should be used for education.
