The Warriors’ report is not good

Over the last few years, the area around Chase Center in San Francisco has been a party atmosphere, with the Warriors competing every season, but things have changed, and the Bandwagon of Warriors fans is not what it used to be; they are deserting in droves.

The Warriors played at the Oakland Arena from 1971 to 2019; they won the NBA title in 1975, 2015, 2017, and 2018. Then they moved to the brand-new, spectacular Chase Center in San Francisco for the 2019-20 season and won the 2022 NBA title, the only one since moving to San Francisco.

This season, the team has faced many setbacks. Obviously, their superstar Stephen Curry is the one who has the Warriors worried. Curry will be evaluated before the game at Chase Center this Wednesday against the Brooklyn Nets. After Curry’s practice, the Warriors have to make a decision, and with only ten (10) games left during the regular season, the team and their fans are praying he can return because without Curry, they have little chance.

As of March 21, 2026, Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry is recovering from a right knee injury diagnosed as runner’s knee combined with a bone bruise. His last game was on January 30, 2026.

The team just lost Guard Moses Moody for the remainder of the season, suffering from a torn left patellar tendon during the recent overtime victory over the Mavericks.

In conclusion, the Golden State Warriors must win the next three games to have a shot at ‘Eight in the West’.

While playing in the Oakland Area, the Warriors had great fans, extremely loyal, who, especially after their 1975-76 NBA title season, were the NBA team from Northern California, years before the Sacramento Kings were born.

During the 1990s, when I was their Spanish radio play by play announcer for all games, home and away, traveling with the team, by the way, the only Spanish play-by-play announcer they ever hired in their history, these are the players I remember, especially the “Run TMC Trio”, Mullin, Hardaway, Richmond and others under coach Don Nelson. However, my favorite overall player during those years in the NBA was Michael Jordan of the Chicago Bulls, whom I had the pleasure of interviewing a few times

Kings Crushed By Hornets In Forgettable Game 134-90; Charlotte gets fourth straight win

Charlotte Hornets guard LeMelo Ball (1) takes a jump shot against the Sacramento Kings guard Malik Monk (left) in the first half at Golden 1 in Sacramento on Tue Mar 24, 2026 (AP News photo)

By Barbara Mason

It wasn’t pretty! The Sacramento Kings (19-54) were demolished by the Charlotte Hornets (37-34) 134-90. They did come into this game even more beat-up then ever with Russell Westbrook still out, and Nique Clifford and Killian Hayes injured last Sunday.

The Hornets were on fire from beyond the arc draining 26 and many of those three’s were second chance shots. With the playoffs at stake the Hornets had a palpable goal in their sites and they could not be stopped.

Game recap: The Hornets are fighting to move into playoff position. They are currently in tenth place but they are a half game behind the ninth place Heat and a game behind the eighth place Magic.

They certainly have a great chance to make the playoffs making Tuesday night’s game a critical one for Charlotte. Playing at home and with so much at stack they will be tough to contain. They have won their past three games and they are really playing like a playoff bound team right now. They are a three-point shooting team and the Kings will also have that to contend with.

The Hornets came out with a vengence leading after the first 12 minutes of play 34-25 and they were just getting started. It was like a runaway freight train that continued to pick up speed as the game wore on. There was no stopping the Hornets outscoring the Kings in the second quarter 38-22 taking a 72-47 lead at the half.

The Hornets continued their onslaught in the third quarter picking up where they left at the finish of the first half. They outscored Sacramento 41-29. Trailing by so much this game was decided in the third quarter.

The Hornets were on fire from beyond the arc and four of their starters had double digits going into the fourth quarter. Bench player Coby White could not be stopped scoring 27 points after only 18 minutes of play. Charlotte came unleashed from beyond the arc draining 23 triples with over seven minutes left in the game.

At 7:04 left on the clock, the Hornets were leading 124-82. They had punished the Kings in every quarter of this lop-sided game. Sacramento had been beat up offensively and defensively.

The Hornets were closing in on a season high for three’s, their highest 26 and with almost six minutes left in the game they had already drained 24. With two minutes left in the game Charlotte had tied their season high from beyond the arc.

While the Hornets did not break their record for three’s in the game, they certainly made a statement as to their push towards a playoff berth. The final in this game was 134-90 with their largest lead 46 points.

This was sheer disappointment for the Sacramento Kings and a game that they need to put behind them. They struggled from start to finish getting outscored in every quarter. Daeqwon Plowden had the high for the Kings with 22 points. Devin Carter finished with 18 points and Maxime Raynaud with 16 points. The Hornets had their way with Sacramento defensively and offensively.

The high for this game came off the Charlotte bench with Coby White scoring 27 points in only 18 minutes of play, and collectively the Hornet bench scored 61 points. Four of the Hornet starters had double figures. LaMelo Ball had 20 points and Moussa Diabate had a double double, 17 points and 11 rebounds. The Hornets have now won four games in a row.

Game notes: After getting back on the winning track beating the Brooklyn Nets 126-122 on Sunday the Kings headed to Charlotte and took on the Hornets on Tuesday night. While the Kings did win their last game it did come at a cost when both Nique Clifford and Killian Hayes were injured in the game.

Clifford suffered a left ankle injury in the game limping off the court in the fourth quarter. It has been reported that he has a left mid-foot sprain after just returning in the Nets game after a hamstring injury. Killian Hayes was also injured in that game due to a toe injury.

Of course the Kings will not see a post-season but these continued injuries rob the younger players of precious time and experience. Veteran Russell Westbrook was out for the Hornets game with right foot soreness after having missed the Nets game.

Malik Monk and Devin Carter will no doubt see increased backcourt roles in Westbrook’s absence. Precious Achiuwa who has been outstanding is also out with lower back soreness. And so go the injuries for the Sacramento Kings.

Thursday night the Kings travel to Orlando for a matchup with the Orlando Magic. Hopefully the Kings will get some of their injured players back on the court trying to shake off Tuesday night’s game. Tipoff for that game is scheduled for 4:00 PM.

Sharks Fall 6-3 to Predators, Losing Streak at Five

Nashville Predators left wing Filip Forsberg (99) goes after the puck past San Jose Sharks center Zack Ostapchuk (63) in the second period at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on Tue Mar 24, 2026 (AP News photo)

The San Jose Sharks lost 6-3 to the Nashville Predators Tuesday. Filip Forsberg, Matthew Wood, Roman Josi, Luke Evangelista and Brady Skjei scored for the Predators. Juuse Saros made 27 saves for the win. Adam Gaudette scored for the Sharks and Will Smith scored twice. Alex Nedeljkovic made 13 saves in the loss. This was the Sharks’ fifth loss in a row.

Discussing the Sharks troubles getting out of their own zone, Sharks goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic said:

“It’s simple hockey. We get the puck in the zone and then we’re free to make plays. Absolutely we have a lot of skill in this locker room, a lot of talent. When we get in the zone, that’s where the creativity is going to come out. But we have to get in the zone first of all.”

Sharks Head Coach Ryan Warsofsky had a similar assessment. He said: “Yeah, execution, you know, breaking out pucks, managing it through the neutral zone, playing a little bit more physical at times.”

The first period was an absolute rout. The Predators scored five goals to the Sharks’ single tally. Filip Forsberg scored at 2:34, tipping a shot by Fedor Svechkov. An assist also went to Jonathan Marchessault.

Adam Gaudette tied it at 6:25, tipping a shot from Shakir Mukhamadullin with an assist to Mario Ferraro.

After that, the Predators got goals from Matthew Wood, Roman Josi, Luke Evangelista and Brady Skjei. Those all came between 7:49 and 16:36 of the period.

The shot count did not reflect that score, 9-5 Predators. The penalty count was also unremarkable, with just one call against the Sharks. That was the only penalty called.

The Sharks improved in the second period. The Predators did not scored until 12:38. Then, it was a goal from Steven Stamkos on the power play. Assists went to Forsberg and Marchessault.

The Sharks trimmed the five-goal lead with a goal from Will Smith at 17:26. That goal was also on the power play, with a two-man advantage.

The Sharks outshot the Predators 15-6 in the second period. They also stayed on the right side of the penalty problem, taking just one penalty while the Predators took three.

Will Smith scored a second goal at 1:40 of the third period. He scored with a backhand, assisted by Igor Chernyshov and Vincent Desharnais. That was the only goal of the period.

The Sharks outshot the Predators 10-4 in the third period but could not dig their way out of that first period hole.

The Sharks next play on Thursday at 5:00 PM PT in St. Louis against the Blues.

#1 Can the Nets snap their losing streak on the road? Brooklyn enters the matchup struggling and looking to break a significant skid, making this a key test of resilience.

#2 Will the Warriors take advantage of home-court edge at Chase Center? Golden State has been more productive offensively at home, so this game could hinge on whether they capitalize on that environment.

#3 Which team controls the pace and scoring tempo? With trends pointing toward high-scoring matchups between these teams, pace and shot efficiency could decide the outcome.

#4 Can the Warriors stay in the Western Conference play-in race? Sitting around the playoff bubble, every win matters for Golden State down the stretch of the season.

#5 Will young Nets players step up against a more experienced Warriors squad? Brooklyn’s developing roster faces a tough challenge against a veteran-led Golden State team.

That’s Amaury News and Commentary: A’s Second Season in Sacramento “It is what it is”

Sacramento A’s opening day pitcher Luis Severino goes to the mound against the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre in downtown Toronto on Fri Mar 27, 2026 (AP News photo)

A’s Second Season in Sacramento: “It is what it is”

That’s Amaury News and Commentary

By Amaury Pi-González

The Athletics open their 2026 season on March 27 in Toronto against the American League Champions, the Blue Jays, on a five-game road trip to open the new season, three in Toronto and two in Atlanta, then return home on April 3 for their first home game of the new season against the Houston Astros.

The city of Sacramento during its first season (2025) was not what the team expected. The team drew 768,464 fans at their 2025 Sacramento debut, the lowest in MLB, averaging 9,487 fans per game at Sutter Health Park. Note: LA Dodgers Stadium parking lot regularly accommodates 18,000 cars.

Seems like the A’s never took Sacramento seriously, scheduled to play there for only three years, like leasing a car, for 2025-26-27, and then move to the very hot confines of Las Vegas, Nevada. The A’s never joined the Sacramento Chamber of Commerce (English or Spanish).

The people of Sacramento are “lukewarm” about this team. The media coverage of the Athletics writes about a team that has not obviously embraced the area, and they often report on that lack of enthusiasm. Some expected A’s fans to travel from Oakland and other Bay Area cities/areas to see the A’s play at Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento..

Some A’s fans might have left the Bay Area for Sacramento, seeking a cheaper cost of living, but there are not enough of those fans to fill seats in Sacramento. A’s team performance on the field was about what I expected, an exciting offense and…that’s it. Not a serious contender.

When your ace in the starting rotation is Luis Severino (I like Luis he is a good guy), they are totally exposed at their level of pitching, which is not at the level of a serious contender. Players have complained about the facilities in Sacramento, but they get paid to wear a major-league uniform and play in a minor-league park.

The largest minority group in the Sacramento area is Hispanic, representing roughly 24–30% of the population. Within the City of Sacramento specifically, Hispanic residents are the largest minority. In 2025, A’s reduced the Spanish radio broadcast to one broadcaster, pure tokenism, so the team can say: “yes, we have a Spanish broadcast”, disrespect to a sport whose some of their biggest stars are Hispanic and over 30% of all players in MLB are Latinos.

Spanish is the second language of baseball and in the US overall. But for the A’s, they might as well be playing in West Virginia, the smallest Latino population in the US. There is little local excitement, and ticket sales for the 2026 season were immediately met with flash sales, such as “No Fees” promotions for April and May, highlighting a lack of demand.

So, in simple language, it is a bleak situation The very common phrase “it is what it is” signifies acceptance of an unchangeable, difficult situation, used commonly in business, politics, and sports, and sometimes bad news in medical reports, since the 1990’s, and in the case of the 2026 version of the Athletics, It is what it is.

SF Gate recent headline: The A’s pitiful attendance now hurting Sacramento’s other baseball team.

Giants rout Sultanes de Monterrey 10-2 in penultimate preseason tuneup

Photo credit: SF Bay News Lab

By Vince Cestone

The San Francisco Giants defeated the Sultanes de Monterrey of the Mexican League 10-2 on Monday night in their second-to-last spring training game at Oracle Park.

Even though the Giants were playing a non-major league team, it’s important for them to play good baseball–and that they did.

The Giants opened the scoring in the third inning with three runs against Sultanes starting pitcher Stephen Tarpley. Tarpley was most-recently in the Mets organization in 2021. Giants first baseman Casey Schmitt, who went 2-for-3 on Monday night, started the inning with a single. After catcher Patrick Bailey hit a ground ball base hit in between first and second, Schmitt advanced to third.

Then came up roster hopeful Jared Oliva, who came into the game hitting .375 for the spring. Oliva executed a an RBI bunt single to give the Giants their first run. The Giants scored after the very next batter Luis Arraez grounded into a fielder’s choice, but a throwing error by Sultanes shortstop Coco Montes allowed the second run to come in. The Giants got their third run later in the inning after right fielder Jung Hoo Lee hit a ground ball double just inside first.

The Giants tacked on another run in the fifth inning with the help of another throwing error by Montes off the bat of Matt Chapman.

The Sultanes scored their only two runs in the fifth inning on an RBI single by designated hitter Ramiro Pena and another RBI single by Josh Lester.

Then, the Giants played home run derby. Shortstop Willy Adames led off the sixth with a home run off of Sultanes pitcher Jake Higginbotham. But an encouraging sign came off the bat of Giants top prospect Bryce Eldridge, who launched a booming, opposite-field three-run homer to make the score 8-2 in the eighth inning. Eldridge had recently been sent down to the minor leagues and will start the season in Triple-A Sacramento. Tyler Fitzgerald followed with a two-run home run two batters later.

On the pitching side, nine Giants pitchers threw one inning each. All San Francisco pitchers threw scoreless innings, except for Carson Seymour, who gave up two runs and four hits in his inning of work. Spencer Bivens, who started the game, Tristan Beck, and Marques Johnson each had two strikeouts and no walks in their innings. Caleb Killian, who is opening eyes in spring training, pitched a perfect fifth inning. In 9 1/3 innings pitched in spring training, Killian came into the game with a 0.96 ERA and 11 strikeouts.

Up next, the Giants will conclude their Cactus League schedule on Tuesday night against the Sultanes once again. First pitch is at 6:45 p.m. The Giants will open the regular season on Wednesday night against the New York Yankees at Oracle Park. Game time will be 5:05 p.m.

That’s Amaury News and Commentary: Now playing for the Toros de Tijuana, Wilmer Flores

Now playing for the Toros de Tijuana, Wilmer Flores

That’s Amaury News and Commentary

By Amaury Pi-González

Do not expect to see Wilmer Flores in a Giants uniform this Wednesday at Oracle Park, as the Giants open the 2026 season against the New York Yankees.

Wilmer Flores played for 13 years in the Major Leagues, the last five with the San Francisco Giants, but a series of changes this offseason, as the Giants acquired Luis Arraez, and also pivoted toward younger players, like Bruce Eldridge, plus veteran Rafael Devers playing every day in the infield, limited the options for Flores.

Although, as of today, the contract of Flores with the Toros de Tijuana of the Mexican League has not been made available, they tend to be much lower than those in the US Major Leagues. Wilmer Flores with the Giants 2023 to 2025, signed a 3-year $16.5 million extension ($6.5 in 2023, $6.5 in 2024, and $3.5 million player option for 2025.

The San Francisco Giants did not retain the Venezuelan fan-favorite infielder Wilmer Flores. Last season, Flores hit for .241 with 16 home runs and 71 runs batted in. Because he is a proven major league talent, the potential is for a large salary, but not close to these major league contracts.

Where Flores will play. La Liga Mexicana de Béisbol (The Mexican Baseball League) comprises 20 teams, divided into 10 in the North Zone and 10 in the South Zone. playing a total of 93 games, the season begins in April and ends in September, the championship is named “La Serie del Rey” (The King’s Series), which consists of the best of 7 games. If compared to the US Professional Baseball Leagues, the Liga Mexicana is at a US Triple-A level.

On September 16, 2022, the Hispanic Heritage Baseball Museum and Hall of Fame presented Wilmer Flores with the José Uribe Award. The award honored character and sportsmanship, with a ceremony held at Oracle Park prior to the Giants game.I had the honor to present to him on behalf of the HHBM.
