#1 Winnipeg Jets at Tampa Bay Lightning: Pontus Holmberg had four points an NHL career high as Lightning beat the Jets 6-4 at Benchmark International Arena for the Jets seventh loss in a row on Thursday night.

#2 Utah Mammoth at Pittsburgh Penguins: The Utah Mammoth Logan Cooley picked up a hat trick against the Pittsburgh Penguins at PPG Paints Arena on Thursday night for a 4-3 overtime win. The Mammoth had to rally to get back in the game and win it.

#3 The Caroliina Hurricanes goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov has got the hot hand making 24 saves and picked up his ninth consecutive win beating the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-2 at Lenovo Center Thursday night. Kochetkov’s win is the longest winning streak in Hurricane’s history passing former Cane goaltender Frederik Andersen who had eight wins back in 2021-22.

#4 The Detroit Red Wings former Captain Dylan Larkin told the team before the game against the Chicago Blackhawks that he was no longer willing to play for the Wings further Larkin was suspended by Detroit. The Wings Viktor Arvidsson got fired up and scored a hat trick beating the Hawks 4-1 at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit on Thursday night.

#5 The St Louis Blues finally got on the scoreboard with a 4-1 win over the Boston Bruins at Enterpirse Center in St Louis on Thrusday night. The Blues had been shutout in their two previous games. The Blues Robert Thomas and Phillip Broberg had a goal a piece and two assists in the win.

SAN JOSE, Calif. — A good win always feels better when needed the most. Will Smith scored twice in the third period, and Mason Marchment added the go-ahead goal as the San Jose Sharks rallied from a two-goal deficit to defeat the Vancouver Canucks 3-2 on Thursday night at SAP Center.

The Sharks overcame a frustrating first two periods to score three unanswered goals in the final period, ending a two-game losing streak. Vancouver took control early, with Drew O’Connor opening the scoring at 13:21 in the first period after capitalizing on a San Jose defensive turnover. Elias Pettersson assisted on the goal.

The Canucks extended their advantage to 2-0 late in the second period when Liam Ohgren scored at 18:56, giving Vancouver momentum heading into the second intermission.

San Jose struggled to generate consistent offense in the first 40 minutes, and frustration was evident as 15,000 fans felt the desperation. The Sharks had also failed to capitalize on their first four power-play opportunities.

However, coach Ryan Warsofsky made adjustments as San Jose looked for a spark, and the team responded with a much stronger third period. For a reason, if it is not broken, do not fix it. It seems Warsofsky came to terms.

Smith started the comeback at 8:00, scoring on the power play with assists from Dmitry Orlov and Marchment to cut Vancouver’s lead to 2-1.

Just 2 minutes and 39 seconds later, Smith found the back of the net again at 10:39, tying the game 2-2. Macklin Celebrini recorded an assist on the equalizer, earning his 16th point of the season.

The Sharks completed the comeback only 11 seconds later. Marchment scored at 10:50 after a play involving Kiefer Sherwood and Nolan Allan, giving San Jose its first lead of the night at 3-2.

Goaltender Yaroslav Askarov played an important role in the victory, stopping 23 shots, including a crucial late save to preserve the Sharks’ advantage during the closing minutes of the 3rd.

Thursday’s matchup also marked the NHL debut of forward Filip Bystedt, who was recently recalled from the American Hockey League. The young center recorded two shots on goal in 10:28 of ice time as he began his NHL career.

Despite the defeat, Vancouver showed a more aggressive approach offensively, particularly during the opening two periods, taking advantage of San Jose’s defensive mistakes and creating scoring opportunities. However, the Canucks were unable to maintain their advantage during the final 20 minutes in a game where it seemed that it was going to be the same as Tuesday night vs. Anaheim.

The Sharks will look to build on Thursday’s comeback when they host the Ottawa Senators on Saturday afternoon at SAP Center. Also that afternoon, the Sharks will celebrate Tiburones Night.

Sacramento Kings game wrap: Pelicans Seize the Middle Quarters and Leave Kings With Too Much to Recover in 132-120 win

Sacramento Kings scored 120 points and still found itself trying to catch an opponent that had turned ordinary possessions into repeated scoring opportunities. New Orleans Pelicans defeated the Kings 132-120, using an explosive third quarter to stretch a narrow halftime advantage into a lead Sacramento never fully erased. The Pelicans had several contributors, but the combination of Jeremiah Fears directing the offense and Zion Williamson disrupting Sacramento’s ballhandlers was especially difficult to answer.

The Kings had plenty working in the opening quarter. Darius Acuff Jr. supplied 12 points, including a pull-up three and a transition dunk, while Precious Achiuwa attacked the basket and De’Andre Hunter provided a three-pointer and a dunk. Sacramento built an eight-point advantage before carrying a 30-24 lead into the second period. New Orleans had already received nine points from Trey Murphy III, but the visitors were getting enough stops to protect their lead.

That advantage dissolved almost immediately. The Pelicans scored 12 unanswered points, turning a 32-24 deficit into a 36-32 lead. Derik Queen connected from beyond the arc and later hit a jumper, Saddiq Bey made three free throws, and Herb Jones converted a steal into a layup.

Bennedict Mathurin then added a three-pointer as New Orleans continued to find openings. Acuff kept Sacramento competitive, reaching 21 points before halftime, and Hunter connected on a three at the second-quarter buzzer. The Kings trailed only 63-61, but New Orleans had scored 39 points in the period.

The third quarter exposed the cost of Sacramento’s mistakes. With New Orleans ahead 67-65, the Pelicans produced a 21-4 run that pushed the margin to 88-69. Fears repeatedly moved the ball into scoring positions, connecting with Jones for a layup and Williamson for a dunk.

Fears also hit a three, Murphy followed with a three and a driving layup, and Williamson scored after stealing the ball. Sacramento called multiple timeouts, but possessions continued to unravel under defensive pressure. The Pelicans scored another 39 points in the quarter and led 102-88 entering the fourth.

Sacramento still found ways to make the finish interesting. Alex Karaban hit two three-pointers, Acuff added another, and Achiuwa finished inside as the Kings reduced the deficit to 111-103 with 8:20 remaining. The response was immediate.

Fears assisted on a Karlo Matković dunk, scored four straight points and watched Bryce McGowens finish a steal with a dunk. New Orleans led 123-106 with 4:45 left. Sacramento later closed to 125-117, but Matković answered with a layup and Williamson followed with a steal and dunk, extinguishing the comeback.

Fears finished with 22 points, 13 assists and four blocked shots, an unusual defensive contribution for a guard. Williamson scored 22 and recorded five steals, while Murphy contributed 19 points. Jones added 16, and seven Pelicans reached double figures. Their offensive balance allowed New Orleans to keep scoring even when Sacramento briefly narrowed the margin.

Acuff’s 34 points and 14 assists led Sacramento, with Hunter and Achiuwa providing 24 points each. Achiuwa also collected nine rebounds and four steals. Zach LaVine scored 21, and Domantas Sabonis pulled down 15 rebounds with seven assists, although he finished with nine points and seven turnovers.

The Kings outscored the Pelicans in the first and fourth quarters, but the damage from the middle two periods was too extensive. Sacramento had enough offense to remain dangerous; New Orleans had the defensive disruption and finishing ability to make that offense insufficient.

The Milwaukee Brewers hit three home runs in five games against the Tampa Bay Rays and won he 2026 World Series.. The Brew Crew under old-school manager Pat Murphy dominated, playing baseball with execution, hitting, emphasizing contact, speed on the bases, great pitching, and the best bullpen in baseball, not to mention the #1 pitcher and best starter in the game, Cy Young Award Winner this season, 24-year-old Jacob Misiorowski, who this regular season broke the record, throwing a 105 mph fastball with a gold arm; he regularly hit 100 mph more than any other pitcher in the game. Misionowski completed 5 2/3 innings, won game five, and the party started in Milwaukee

The Milwaukee Brewers led the league in team batting average during the 2026 MLB regular season. 258 (tied with the Tampa Bay Rays). Milwaukee was last in Homeruns in baseball with 130. Milwaukee’s pitching was #2 in earned run average at 3.52, and its bullpen was the best, with 55 saves.

‘Parade: This Friday at 10AM (Central Time), Milwaukee city officials expect up to 500,000; Milwaukee’s total population is 570,000, so everybody will be there.

Congratulations to the Milwaukee Brewers, MLB’s smallest media market (#30). They are the best example that you can win with limited resources, showing that analytics is overrated.

The Golden State Valkyries went into game six taking on the Atlanta Dream leading three games to two looking to win their first WNBA championship. Due to some crazy scheduling, the game got underway at 12:30pm PDT in Atlanta and an unheard of 9:30 AM PDT start in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Hard to believe that a championship game would take place in this sort of timeframe. It was downright disrespectful to both teams. Both teams were faced with the same issues. The Dream wound up tying up this series 3-3 with a 80-69 win at State Farm Arena in Atlanta on Thursday.

Atlanta came out with some crazy energy in the first quarter and were absolutely unstoppable. After the first ten minutes of play the Dream had taken a 32-15 lead. At the half, the Dream continued to lead outscoring Golden State 14-11 and taking a 46-26 lead into the locker room.

The game shifted in the third quarter with the Valkyries out-scoring Atlanta 21-17 and in the fourth quarter Golden State again had the advantage outscoring the Dream 22-17. Despite the Valkyries putting up a valiant rally as the clock ran out the Dream were able to hold on and win game six. This series will now return to Chase Center in San Francisco to decide the winner of the 2026 WNBA Championship.

GAME RECAP

The Dream got this game underway displaying a fierce determintion. They would not go down easily and plowed through the opening quarter taking a 32-15 lead. They steam-rolled the Valkyries and Golden State had a real fight on their hands.

The second quarter was a quiet one for both teams. Atlanta did outscore the Valkyries 14-11 in this very low-scoring quarter. At the half the Dream had a 46-26 lead.

Looking at the stats in the first half, they pretty told the story of just how the Dream built this lead. They had out-rebounded the Valkyries defensively. The turnovers were pretty close, the Dream with five and the Valkyries with six.

The difference here was that Atlanta conceded two points on their turnoverws while the Valkyries gave up ten points. The Dream had won the battle in the paint 16-8. Their largest lead of the game in the first half was 25 points getting offensive excellence from their starters and their defense was impenetrable. The Dream finished the first half with eight three’s, the Valkyries only three.

Allisha Gray finished the half with ten points and Ryne Howard with 11. Atlanta had contained Gabby Williams and Veronica Burton holding them to four points and two points respectively in the half.

Golden State started to turn this game around in the third quarter outscoring the Dream 21-17 trying to make up what they had faced in the first half. They had cut the Atlanta lead to 63-44 making up six points but had a massive hill to climb.

The Valkyries made this game very interesting in the fourth quarter making a very real run chipping away at the Dream’s lead. They outscored the Dream in the fourth 22-17 and pulled to within eight points with just over a minute left in the game. They had cut the Dream’s largest lead by 17 points. They came up just short, Atlanta coming away with an 80-69 win in game six and tying up this series.

GAME NOTES

Golden State had a distastrous start in this game. Atlanta came out firing, building a huge first-quarter lead and forced Golden State to spend the rest of the game trying to catch up. The Valkyries absolutely got buried in the first quarter giving the Dream a 17-point lead after the first quarter.

Golden State was behind the eight ball from the get-go. Their offense could not get going managing only 26 points in the entire first half. They were struggling to score enough to make-up for the early gap.

Atlanta took control of this game early. They scored 46 points in the first half. The Valkyries got their offense going in the second half but they could not erase the damage from the two opening quarters.

It is encouraging going forward to see Golden State outscoring the Dream in both the third and fourth quarters. They outscored them 43-34 in the second half but the 20-point halftime deficit was just too much for the team to overcome.

Going forward the Valkyries cannot afford another slow start. They were extremely competitive in the second half but in game seven they will have to defend from the opening tip and score more consistently. The best news of all is that Golden State will be back home for game seven a definite advantage, the championship still very much within reach.

Gabby Williams really turned it on in the second half after only scoring 4 in the first half. She finished the game with 26 points the game high. Tiffany Hayes chipped in 15 points. The Dream’s Angel Reese had another double double, 15 points and 14 rebounds. Allisha Gray had the team high with 23 points, Ryne Howard had 21 points for the Dream.

Game seven of this series will determine the winner of the 2026 WNBA Championship. The Valkyries will be back home Saturday Oct 31 and you can believe that Chase will be rocking a definite advantage for Golden State.

This is expected to be real shoot-out with the Valkyries favored. Tip-off for this Halloween extravaganza is scheduled for 5:00 PM on Saturday. The Valkyries will be looking to hand out a lot more tricks than treats to the Dream as they will be looking for a championship after reaching the playoffs in their first year and now fighting for a championship after only two years. They will be looking to make more history.

Quakes clinch home playoff match in 2-2 draw with Rapids

SAN JOSE — In a game that featured two red cards and four goals, the San Jose Earthquakes and the Colorado Rapids battled to 2-2 draw on Wednesday evening at PayPal Park.

San Jose has earned a point in 10 of their past 11 games. With the draw, San Jose can finish no worse than eighth in the conference, which they would host the play-in-game with against the 9th seed. Colorado has earned a point in five consecutive matches.

San Jose drew first blood in the 15th minute off a set piece. Timo Werner’s corner kick sailed right into the middle of the box where an unmarked Reid Roberts headed the ball under the cross bar and into the back of the net for his fourth goal of the season.

Colorado responded with the equalizer in the 26th minute. Wayne Frederick found Morgan Whittaker in the middle just outside the box. Whittaker dribbled inside before unleashing a low right-footed shot that beat Quakes goalkeeper Angus Gunn to the lower right corner for his fourth goal of the season.

The Rapids had a slight edge in possession in the opening 45 minutes. Goalkeeper Nico Hansen kept the game even with three saves as San Jose had three other opportunities to extend its lead before Whittaker’s goal.

San Jose had an opportunity in the 64th minute for the go-ahead goal when Ousseni Bouda crossed a ball into the middle of the box. Preston Judd’s running header went right into the arms of Hansen for his biggest save of the match.

The match turned in Colorado’s favor when Werner, who was incensed with referee Ramy Touchan, was issued a red card in the 71st minute and ejected from the match. Werner will miss Saturday’s match against Real Salt Lake.

The Rapids took advantage two minutes later when Darren Yapi split two San Jose defenders inside the box and fired a shot past Gunn for his fifth goal of the season in the 73rd minute.

In the 75th minute the match went 10-on-10 when Kosi Thompson was issued a red card and an automatic ejection when he committed a hard, unsportsmanlike foul against Judd.

Quakes midfielder Niko Tsakiris entered the match as a substitute for captain Ronaldo Vieira in the 79th minute as head coach Bruce Arena also brought in Ian Harkes and Jamal Ricketts to inject some fresh legs onto the pitch.

San Jose hit paydirt when it scored the equalizer in the 83rd minute off its second set piece. Tsakiris corner kick went toward the far corner of the net where Jack Jasinski leaped up high from a tough angle and headed the ball past Hansen for his third goal of the season.

Hansen finished with six saves on eight shots on target. Gunn didn’t record a save during the match.

UP NEXT: San Jose hosts Real Salt Lake in its final home match of the regular season on Halloween at 2:00pm.
