#1 Amaury, You worked the Sharks Spanish telecast for Telemundo between the Pittsburgh Penguins and San Jose Sharks on the scoreboard a message during the first period intermission that read “SJ SHARKS FANS/LOVE ICE !!/GET ‘EM BOYZ !” The Sharks ended up apologizing and fans said that it was bad timing to have that message up there on the same day as Hispanic Heritage night?
#2 Amaury, do you think that message was something that was written and put into the production computer and the operator forgot to take it out or was there more underlying motives at work?
#3 The fact that this took place on Hispanic Heritage night at the rink during a local telecast that you were working how does the Sharks fix this beyond the public apology they put out? Would televising more games in Spanish or start broadcasting more games on radio in Spanish to reach the Hispanic community smooth things over? The Sharks do only one game in Spanish per year will they do more in light of what happen?
#4 Amaury turning to football, talk about Sunday’s game with the Las Vegas Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs. The Raiders were absolutely unable to execute on both sides of the football and just couldn’t get on the scoreboard by way of field goals or get in the red zone. The Chiefs just shut anything the Raiders wanted to execute down with a 31-0 loss.
#5 The World Series starts on Friday with the Los Angeles Dodgers once again having a shot at winning the whole thing. The Dodgers behind superstar Shohei Ohtani who threw for six innings, striking out ten and hitting three home runs against the Milwaukee Brewers is a once in a lifetime offer for anyone who had been watching that NLCS game 4.

Bad Bunny shown performing at his homeland at the Coliseo du Puerto Rico Jose Miguel Agrelot in San Juan Puerto Rico on Sat Sep 20, 2025. Bad Bunny will be performing at Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara on Feb 8, 2025 (AP News photo)
Super Bowl LX Controversy is not about Football
That’s Amaury News and Commentary
By Amaury Pi Gonzalez
Super Bowl LX will take place at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on Sunday, February 8, 2026. There has been considerable criticism, especially on social media, regarding the NFL’s selection of Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, a Puerto Rican rapper, singer, and record producer, as the halftime show entertainer.
He is known as the “King of Latin Trap”. He is better known as “Bad Bunny,” who is credited with helping Spanish-language rap music achieve mainstream popularity. He is 31 years old, born in Bayamón, Puerto Rico.
Currently, the most famous and successful pop music star in the world is Taylor Swift, though she recently clarified she was never formally asked by the NFL to perform at the halftime show. Swift is a billionaire, with Bloomberg estimating her net worth at $2.1 billion as of October 2025, and she is also engaged to K.C. Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
So, what about this guy ‘Bad Bunny”? This is all about money. The NFL plays regular-season games in countries including the United Kingdom, Germany, Brazil, and Spain, with future games scheduled for Australia, Canada, and Ireland.
Through the Global Markets Program, NFL teams have been granted international marketing rights to build their fan base in specific countries. The league also leverages global media platforms, including streaming services, to engage fans worldwide.
Bad Bunny has stated his sexuality is fluid; sometimes during his performances, he dresses like a girl, and other times like a man. He is controversial in many ways, but some would say that’s just show business in 2025.
Ultimately, the NFL hired Bad Bunny to make them a lot of money. The NFL is one of the richest and most famous sports leagues in the world. The Super Bowl is not just another sporting event; it is a world event. During a recent appearance on NBC’s SNL, Bad Bunny announced he would be singing in Spanish and joked, “If you didn’t understand what I just said, you have four months to learn.”
The backlash was instant, especially on social media around the world—and mostly here in the United States, where today there is seldom a unified opinion about anything; it is like half the country believes the world is square and the other half believes it is round. (joking, of course).
The fact remains, Bad Bunny seems to thrive on controversy. This past Tuesday, during the seventh-inning stretch, traditional God Bless America at Yankee Stadium, he chose to ‘sit it out’ The only “rap” I know is the wrapping I do with my family at Christmas time, when I ‘rap’ presents, and as a kid, the only Bunny I remember was Bugs Bunny, whose voice was that of Mel Blanc, the legendary voice actor with an iconic Brooklyn and Bronx accent.
So I have never heard Bad Bunny on tape or during a life concert. I like to believe that the overwhelming majority of people are like me, who watch the Super Bowl for the game, not for the halftime show. In 2012, Super Bowl XLVI was considered the first “social media”Super Bowl due to increased marketing efforts and the use of “second screens” by viewers.
My wife enjoys watching the Super Bowl because of the commercials. Most people go to the refrigerator during the halftime show. So, you ask, what about this guy, they called “Bad Bunny”? The story goes that as a child in Puerto Rico, he wore a Bunny costume with an angry face. This inspired him to the concept of “El Conejo Malo,” “The Bad Bunny. And, that’s All, Folks!

#2 The Cubs are painted in a corner down 0-2 and have their backs to the wall as they send game 3 back to Chicago. The lovable losers need every inch of support from their friendly confines at Wrigley Field on Wed Oct 8.
#3 What’s happened to the New York Yankees they caved on Monday night to the Toronto Blue Jays 13-7 at Rogers Centre in Toronto.
#4 It was all Blue Jays in the second inning with two runs, in the third inning with three runs, and the Jays fans turned their ball caps inside out in the bottom of the fourth as the Jays scored six runs and put away game two as the Jays go up in the series 2-0.
#5 Yankees pitchers got lit up in game two as well starter Max Fried who suffered pitching three innings allowing eight hits, seven runs, two walks and got only one strike out, reliever Will Warren went 4.2 innings seven hits and six runs and one walk and six strikeouts. What’s happened to the Yankees pitching?

MLB Notes 2025 -Giants get No Satisfaction
That’s Amaury News and Commentary
By Amaury Pi-González
The San Francisco Giants got “No Satisfaction” like the great Rolling Stones song, as they ended the season with an 81-81 record, a tie, and. a .500 mark. Not going to the postseason. The Giants last qualified in 2021. They have a lot of work to do in the next few months to try to join the “big boys” of this division, LA and SD.
Mets learned that Money is not the Answer. The New York Mets, with the highest payroll in baseball, featuring Juan Soto at $765 million and Francisco Lindor at $341 million, among others, had a shot but failed to win game #162.
They are not going to the postseason. Manager Carlos Mendoza? His job is in danger. In New York, there is always danger for managers. The Cincinnati Reds had the 22nd-largest payroll among all 30 teams, approximately $90 million, and one of the best managers, Terry Francona.
They clinched a wild-card spot in the last game of the season. The last time the Reds were in a postseason was in 2020. Cleveland Guardians (formerly the Indians) completed a historic comeback, overcoming a 15 1/2 game deficit to take the lead this month and won the AL Central Division on the last day of the season by leaving the Detroit Tigers in the rear view mirror.
The feat that makes it the largest deficit ever erased to win a division in Major League Baseball history. Manager and ex-Oakland A’s catcher Stephen Vogt, in his second season as manager, took the team to the top. Blue Jays, Oh Canada!
They won the LA East Title over the Yankees. Last time the Blue Jays were in the postseason? 2016. Again, Vlad Guerrero Jr. justifies his $500 million, multi-year contract. New York, New York, Start spreading the news.
The Yankees secured a wild-card spot and advanced to the postseason as they finished in second place behind the Toronto Blue Jays. While the Blue Jays have their eyes on their third World Series title, the Yanks are going after their 28th.
Could the #1 city in the country have another parade? As I was on vacation, I ran into their last parade in Lower Manhattan in 2009, the last World Series they won. The Seattle Mariners won the AL West division, clinching their first AL West title since 2001.
Catcher Cal Raleigh had 60 home runs, 125 RBIs, and a .248 batting average. First catcher ever to hit 60 home runs in a single season, and the 12th catcher in history to have multiple 30-plus HR seasons. Cal Raleigh holds the MLB record for most home runs by a switch-hitter in a single season, surpassing Mickey Mantle’s 1961 record of 54 home runs with his 55th of the 2025 season, and, like above-mentioned, he ended with 60 home runs.
He is one of two top candidates for the AL MVP, with Yankee Aaron Judge, who won the batting title. hitting .330 with 53 home runs and 114 RBIs, plus an OPS of 1,149. The Brewers from Milwaukee ended with the best record in baseball, 97-65, winning the AL Central Division and marking their best year in franchise history.
They have never won a World Series. In 1982, they lost their only World Series to the St. Louis Cardinals, in the battle of the “beer cities.” Four million Blue. The Los Angeles Dodgers surpassed 4 million in attendance.
The Dodgers hold the record for the longest active streak of consecutive playoff appearances in MLB, a streak that stands at 13 seasons. They were the favorites to win the World Series prior to the start. With the MLB postseason underway, the Philadelphia Phillies, Seattle Mariners, and defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers are all involved.
“All World” Ohtani hit his 55th home run during their last game of the season at Chávez Ravine. My pick for the team that could go all the way, not mentioned here, is the San Diego Padres. They have all the talent necessary to make it all the way to the 2025 World Series Champions.
A’s Big News ! The A’s biggest news at year’s end. The Athletics will be introducing a new gold/yellow alternate jersey for the 2026 season, featuring “Sacramento” written on the front, in honor of their temporary home at Sutter Health Park. Why?
Lots of people, not only in California but all over the country, had NO IDEA where the A’s were playing. I know I missed other teams that are in the postseason, but I am exhausted.

On Wednesday, September 24, prior to game #159 of the regular season, Willy Adames, shortstop of the San Francisco Giants, received the Hispanic Heritage Baseball Museum and Hall of Fame plaque honoring him with the José Uribe Award.
Amaury Pi-González, Vice President and Co-Founder of the museum, presented Adames with the plaque. Michael Friedman and Michael Gama, also representing the museum, were in attendance. This award is presented by the museum to the most outstanding Hispanic player on the San Francisco Giants each year.
In 2024, Wilmer Flores was the recipient. Two days later on Friday September 26, the Giants honored Adames with the Willie McCovey Award, Felicidades Willy this is your year!
This is the inscription on the José Uribe plaque. The Jose Uribe Sportsmanship Award has been awarded to a San Francisco Giants player who best exemplifies the character and Sportsmanship of the late Jose Uribe, a former San Francisco Giants Shortstop from the Dominican Republic who was a member of the 1989 National League Champion San Francisco Giants, who went on to play the Oakland Athletics during the Loma Prieta Earthquake-stricken World Series.
The Hispanic Heritage Baseball Museum and Hall of Fame wants to thank Bertha Fajardo of the San Francisco Giants for her cooperation in coordinating this event. Over 30% of all players in Major League Baseball are Hispanic, according to most statistics. https://hhbmhof.com/

A fan Alberto (left) at Coors Field caught Los Angeles Angels Mike Trout’s (right) 400th home run against the Colorado Rockies. The two played catch after the game on the field as one of Alberto’s wishes. Trout also handed Alberto three autograph bats. (photo from Instagram)

By Amaury Pi-González
When fans attend a major league baseball game, they often dream of catching a home run ball, but sometimes much more happens, and it does not always involve a money request between the fan and the player.. The fan who caught and returned Mike Trout’s 400th home run ball (485 foot blast) had one small request from the 3-time MVP. He wanted to play catch with him.
Alberto was the name of the fan at Coors Field on Saturday, who was attending the game with his wife and two children. According to Alberto, he told his young sons minutes before Trout’s home run, “he has a lot of power.” Alberto just happened to be in the right seat at the right time, and although this did not happen at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, within walking distance of Disneyland, where Dreams Come True, it happened at Coors Field in Denver, and this fan’s dream came true.
After the game, Alberto and Trout played catch in front of the third base dugout for a few minutes as his wife captured the whole thing on her phone. Trout’s prodigious shot helped the Angels beat the Rockies 3-0. Alberto brought his glove, but he did not need it to catch the ball; however, it came in handy when Trout said he would accept the offer of playing catch with him in return, Albert gave Mike Trout the ball, and Trout also gave Alberto three of his bats personally autographed.
I covered Mike Trout since the first time he arrived from the Angels’ Salt Lake City AAA affiliate in July 2011. This Saturday, his 400th homerun made him the 59th player in history to achieve that milestone. A first-ballot ‘sure thing ‘ for the Hall of Fame, Mike Trout is as good a player as I have seen in uniform. He is well-liked by fans, the media, and his teammates, both with the Angels and other teams.
Every player who played with him or against him has nothing but good stuff to say about Trout. José Mota (now with the Dodgers) and yours truly interviewed Mike Trout on many occasions, and he was always a class act.
A veteran baseball writer in Anaheim told me about Mike Trout, “he reminds me of Cal Ripken Jr”, for his professionalism and excellence all around.. The Angels’ last playoff appearance was in 2014, as they currently hold the longest active playoff drought in Major League Baseball, which is now 11 seasons long as of the end of the 2025 season. In his 15 years with the Los Angeles Angels in the major leagues, Mike Trout has only played in three (3) postseason games.
Mike Trout is not retiring after the current season; he is in the middle of a contract that runs through 2030 and has stated he plans to retire with the Los Angeles Angels. Despite ongoing injury issues, especially with his left knee, his financial commitment and team situation make it highly unlikely he would retire early.
I am sure we will hear from Trout on his plans. He is a great ‘old-fashioned ‘, very unassuming 34-year player, who comes day and night, to play a game he has always played since childhood in Vineland, New Jersey.
Mike Trout has only played in three postseason games so far. These luminaries never played in the Postseason: Ernie Banks, Ferguson Jenkins, Billy Williams, Luke Appling, and Ted Lyons of the Chicago White Sox, Harry Heilman of the Detroit Tigers, and Ken Griffey Jr. of the Seattle Mariners.
Quote Shoeless Joe Jackson: When Ted Williams famously concluded his .400 season, manager Connie Mack said, “I wish I had a Williams. I had one once, and I lost him”. This quote refers to the ineligible Shoeless Joe Jackson, whose ban from baseball prevented him from ever making it to Cooperstown. They ran into a brick wall losing to the Los Angeles Dodgers Saturday and Sunday and lost in a landslide on Monday night to the Arizona Diamondbacks 8-1. The Giants are now two games back of the NL Wild Card.
#2 Not ready for prime time for Bryce Eldridge? Eldridge who started Monday’s game went 0-3 against the Arizona Diamondback and is now the Giants starting first baseman after being called up from Triple A Sacramento after Dominic Smith was injured stretching at first base to make a catch doing the splits on a throw by third baseman Matt Chapman. Smith ended up with a hamstring injury. Eldridge 20 years old was ranked number 29 in the ESPN rankings for prospects.
#3 The Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette is seeking a second medical opinion for his knee injury and could return as the designated hitter. Bichette has been out since Sep 7 and was seen by Dr. Dan Cooper. Jays manager John Schneider said there was no news and that Dr. Cooper was just checking the injury for the recovery process.

#5 The Chicago Cubs who are in first place for the NL Wild Card and are looking to shore up some pitching activated right hander Michael Soroka off the 15 day IL on Monday night against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
