San Francisco 49ers podcast with Joe Hawkes: 49ers hope to snap out of 3 game skid in Jacksonville Sunday

On the 49ers podcast with J Hawkes:

#1 Joe, how crucial was the bye for the 49ers coming off three straight loses.

#2 Looking back to the game against Cincinnati there was the first and goal at the two yard line play where Javon Kinlaw was offsides and the defense kind of paused with linebacker Fred Warner came up from his crouch and defensive end Nick Bosa was just in his same pace, defensive tackle Arik Armstead just did a small jog on the play and Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow went right and threw for a touchdown to Andrei Iosivsas. The defense fell asleep during that play according to Jim Nance who was calling the game on CBS TV.

#3 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy acknowledged he has some things to work on after throwing five interceptions over the last three games and said he has to be smart with the ball.

#4 How much are opposing teams picking up weaknesses and taking advantage of those mistakes during this losing streaks?

#5 The 49ers are in Jacksonville. The Jaguars have won five straight games after losing two straight games and the 49ers have lost three straight games after winning five straight. How do you see this match up in Jacksonville this Sunday at 10:00 AM PT?

Tell us how this will shore San Francisco’s defense going into Sun Nov 12 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

#2 Taking a look at last Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals where did it all break down quarterback Brock Purdy just didn’t get enough scoring opportunities for the offense or the defense just falling apart allowing two touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

#3 The Jaguars (6-2) are going strong they’ve won five straight games including their last game against the Pittsburgh Steelers 20-10 in Pittsburgh. Do you see the Jaguars being a handful for the 49ers in Jacksonville on Nov 12th?

On the San Francisco 49ers podcast with David:

#1 How surprising does it have to be for 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan after having an efficient and well planned play book going into the first five games of this season only now to have put together two straight loses.

#2 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy did get some yardage against the Minnesota Vikings with 272 yards, one touchdown but was it not connecting with the receivers and throwing two picks that got him into trouble?

San Francisco 49ers podcast with Joe Hawkes: 49ers Williams, McCaffrey and Samuel should be in line up for MNF

San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey (center left) feels the wrath of the Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett (left) and safety Grant Delpit (middle right) at Cleveland Browns Stadium on Sun Oct 15, 2023 (AP News photo)

On the 49ers podcast with J Hawkes:

#1 Joe the big question is should the 49ers rest Trent Williams, Christian McCaffrey and Deebo Samuel against the Minnesota Vikings this Monday? The 49ers did say Williams, McCaffrey and Samuel are not seriously injured and could play this Monday Night Football, how do you see that being a big risk.

#2 Critics have said that the Vikings who are 2-4 are just one more loss away from stripping the team down and being sellers. Are the Vikings in that much trouble?

#3 Williams, McCaffrey and Samuel are considered to be the 49ers best players and it would make sense if this were a playoff game but against the Vikings all three could use the week and game off.

#4 Joe, with the Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson out of action how much pressure does that put on quarterback Kirk Cousins to do most of the heavy lifting?

#5 Joe, any chance that this game could be as close as last week’s Cleveland Browns game was? Or do you see the 49ers plowing over the Vikings on Monday Night Football?

On the San Francisco 49ers podcast with David Zizmor:

#1 David, in the 49ers last game basically it was a matter of injuries, poor execution and spotty defense.

#2 Talk about how the 49ers injuries of Christian McCaffrey with an Oblique and rib and Deebo Samuel with a shoulder injury, Dre Greenlaw (hamstring), left tackle Trent Williams (low ankle sprain), and safety George Odum (quadriceps), how much did their injuries impact their game against the Cleveland Browns.

#3 Dave, take a look at the 49ers next game in Minnesota do you see them having the same struggles as they did in Cleveland against the Minnesota Vikings on Monday Night Football Oct 23?

San Francisco 49ers podcast with Joe Hawkes: Browns Watson to sit out Sunday against 49ers

Cleveland Browns quarterback DeShaun Watson will sit out this Sun Oct 15, 2023 against the San Francisco 49ers in Cleveland for week 6. (AP file photo)

On the 49ers podcast with Joe Hawkes:

#1 San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy in his last game threw 17-24 for 252 yards, and four touchdowns there is little doubt that Purdy is on a roll and is one of the keys to why the 49ers are 5-0.

#2 Last game for tight end George Kittle who scored three touchdowns and was the key factor why the 49ers won the game against the Dallas Cowboys.

#3 Christian McCaffrey who had a multi touchdown game against the Arizona Cardinals and against the Cowboys he got one touchdown but the win was more important to McCaffrey.

#4 The 49ers got some great defense against the Cowboys and Dak Prescott and it shows when you hold them to only ten points in a lopsided game.

#5 49ers are in Cleveland on Sunday and the Browns once again will be without quarterback Deshaun Watson who is out with right rotator cuff contusion. Watson could miss multiple games and the Browns won’t play him until he’s pain free.

On the 49ers podcast with David Zizmor:

#1 San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy threw for an amazing four touchdowns. When you look at Purdy’s passing for scores and how the 49ers dominated the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football this was a game that was expected to be a lot closer than it was?

#2 The Niners are 5-0 and have beaten a team the Arizona Cardinals who defeated the Dallas Cowboys on Sep 24 and then the 49ers with their win on Sunday over the Cowboys, the 49ers just exceeded their expectations or was this what you expected against teams like the Cardinals and Cowboys?

#3 The 49ers travel to face the Cleveland Browns for a 10AM PT kick off in Cleveland. The Browns struggled in their last game against the against the Baltimore Ravens in a landslide loss 28-3. Browns quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson threw for 121 yards and was intercepted three times. San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy (13) had enough protection from the offensive line and was able to fire four scores to his receivers as the 49ers waltzed to a convincing win over the visiting Dallas Cowboys at Levi Stadium in Santa Clara on Sun Oct 8, 2023 (AP News photo)

On the 49ers podcast with J Hawkes:

#1 Joe, there’s no cooling off San Francisco 49ers Brock Purdy he threw four touchdowns passes and help lead the 49ers burying the Dallas Cowboys at Levi Stadium on Sunday Night Football 42-10.

#2 Joe three of Purdy’s four touchdown passes were to tight end George Kittle.

#3 Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott was running for his life all game long, talk about the pressure the 49ers defense put on Prescott.

#4 49ers left tackle Trent Williams said it was great going against the No.1 defense in the football and it was a test for the offense as the 49ers go up to 5-0 to complete week five.

#5 It’s off to Cleveland for week 6 against the Cleveland Browns. The Browns lost their last game against the Baltimore Ravens 28-3 in Cleveland dropping their record to 2-2.
