#1 Dallas Mavericks Kyrie Irving is out for the rest of the season after suffering a torn ACL in his left knee. Irving 32 was playing against the Sacramento Kings in the early minutes of the game when the injury occurred. What does mean to lose a player like Irving?

#2  Orlando Magic guard Jalen Suggs who left the game with back spasms on Jan 3 was out until Jan 25 in a game against the Detroit Pistons when he had discomfort in his knee and after further tests show Suggs will need mosaicplasty to repair the trochlear joint surface. His full recovery is expected.

#3 Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr says that the officials need to call more traveling calls. Kerr got a technical foul on Monday night in a game against the Charlotte Hornets which the Warriors had won 119-101. Kerr observed traveling by the Hornets were not being called. Kerr pointed to the fans who were screaming for a travel call and Kerr was hit with the technical.

#4 The Dallas Mavericks fans feel like they’re be left holding the bag. First fan favorite and team star Luka Doncic was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis. Davis is now injured after suffering abductor strain. Davis could miss the rest of the season. With that disappoint to add insult upon injury the Mavericks announced that they will be raising ticket prices and increase of about 8.6% for next season. Since the Doncic trade the fans have express their dissatisfaction on how the Mavericks are conducting business decisions.

#5 Cleveland Cavaliers guard Ty Jerome was hit with a whopping $25,00 fine for speaking out against the officials after the Cavs 133-129 close margin win over the Portland Trail Blazers. Jerome disputed that the Cavaliers were called for 53 fouls and that a total of 70 free throws 35 for each team. On average the an NBA game has fewer than 40 fouls. Jerome was upset that the teams were called for a combined 53 fouls and shot 70 free throws Sunday, which included 35 fouls for each team. Jerome was fined for saying “I thought the refs were really bad tonight, especially Natalie (Sago), she was really bad,” Jerome said. “Stuff like that happens. They kind of lose control of the game, and you just got to keep your head. I thought that first half was ridiculous. Third quarter was horrendous.”

#1 Major League Baseball announced that they will give a demonstration on how the auto balls and strikes challenge system will work. As baseball is moving towards using the Robo-umpires. In the minor leagues the robo umpire was used. The players have voiced their objections to the idea of using robo umpires, “It’s just not a video game” said San Francisco Giants pitcher Kyle Harrison.

#2 One of the sticking points of a negotiating a new Collective Bargaining Agreement between MLB and the MLBPA is the salary cap and Commissioner Rob Manfred realizes that’s a touchy point with the players and if a cap were to be instituted it could trigger a players strike after the 2026 season. As the owner complain that the Los Angeles Dodgers have a monopoly of high priced talent Manfred is backpedaling on any idea of a salary cap saying he would not commit to a salary cap.

#3 It’s a real competition and New York Mets owner Steve Cohen is not hesitating on coming up to par with the Dodgers. Cohen so far has a payroll of $325 million for the 2025 season that includes a 15 year $765 million contract with Juan Soto. Jessica there is no doubt that Cohen wants to build a winner.

#4 The Tampa Bay Rays have outspent the Chicago Cubs for the 2025 season in free agency money and that’s considering that the Rays will be playing in the New York Yankees spring training facility for the regular season in a park that seats 11,000 fans. That had third baseman Alex Bregman looking for greener pastures leaving the Cubs for the Boston Red Sox and leaving Cubs owner Tom Ricketts with very little answers on how the Cubs will be competitive this sesason?

#5 The Rays are not the only big league club that will be playing in a minor league park for the 2025 season. The Sacramento A’s will be using the San Francisco Giants minor league park Sutter Health Field in West Sacramento for their regular season games. The Sacramento park seats 14,014 and is nearly sold out for it’s games. The A’s will play any post season games at a neutral site location to be named later.

#2 The anticipation of former Seattle Mariner outfielder Ichiro Suzuki to get a unanimous decision for the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown fell short by one vote. The ballot that did not vote for Ichiro was left blank next to Ichiro’s name out of 393 BBWAA writers who cast ballots. No matter Ichiro will be a first ballot Hall of Famer.

#3 UConn Huskies head coach Dan Hurley cussed at the refs during a time out against the Butler Bulldogs on Tuesday night saying, “Don’t turn your back on me. I’m the best coach in the (expletive) sport,” said Hurley while following the ref on the floor. There is no doubt that coach Hurley coaches with emotion and passion.

#4 The Golden State Warriors continue to struggle losing six of their last 11 games, are in 11th place in the Western Conference and are battling to try to move up and get a playoff spot. The Warriors were beaten soundly on Tuesday night 125-85 by the Boston Celtics and lost again to the Sacramento Kings 123-117 on Wednesday night in Sacramento.

#5 Big NFL Championships are coming this Sunday the Washington Commanders at the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship. In the AFC Championship the Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium.

#1 The New York Jets Aaron Rogers still has it he threw four touchdown passes against the Miami Dolphins in a 32-20 on Sunday. Some had doubted Rogers ability to return but he turned it up a notch against a playoff bound team.

#2 After losing six straight games the Tennessee Titans have clinched for a shot at the No.1 NFL draft pick a quarterback. The Titans benched their starter Will Levis and can choose either one of the top college quarterbacks Colorado Buffaloes Shedeur Sanders or Miami’s Cam Ward that they can acquire in a draft or a trade.

#3 The New York Giants win last week over the Indianapolis Colts 45-33 on Sun Dec 29th cost the Giants a shot at the No.1 draft pick. With the win the Giants moved into third place at a shot for the top pick. The Giants could try and trade for Rogers if Rogers wants to stay in the number media market and play for the Giants who struggled all season.

#4 The Las Vegas Raiders after losing ten straight games and won two straight lost their chance at the No.1 draft pick slipping to six place in the top sweepstakes lottery. The Raiders are looking for a quarterback Minority owner and Super Bowl Champion Tom Brady who has a great relationship with Rogers might try and entice Rogers to consider coming to Vegas and continue his career there.

#5 The Indianapolis Colts who drafted quarterback Anthony Richardson as their overall fourth pick in 2023 has not been the kind of quarterback that they expected. The Colts have not been in the post season since 2020. They also fell short in 2021 when they went 9-8 with quarterback Carson Wentz and were no better in 2022 going 4-12-1 with quarterback Matt Ryan . The Colts are hoping that Rogers will consider coming to Indianapolis and help Richardson with some tips to help improve for the 2025 season.

#1 The Las Vegas Raiders could have the number one draft pick if they just had mailed it in on Sunday but instead decided to fight it out and beat the visiting the Jacksonville Jaguars at Allegiant Stadium on Sunday winning by five 19-14.

#2 New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rogers laughed while being interviewed on the Pat McAfee show saying that Jets it would be funny if he was released by the owner Woody Johnson’s son. Rogers was making fun of the way the organization has been run “Being released would be a first; being released by a teenager, that would also be a first,” said Rogers.

#3 The very next day after the Arizona Cardinals were eliminated from the playoffs after they occupied first place in the NFC West just a month ago the Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon said he accepts for most of the blame for the Cards fall “I’m not satisfied with the performance of the team, and that starts with me,” said coach Gannon “So, what I’m really saying, that’s an indictment on myself. I’m not satisfied with myself.”

#4 The injured list continues to pile up for the San Francisco 49ers as left tackle Trent Williams (left ankle), left guard Aaron Banks (right MCL) and back up tackle Jaylon Moore (quad) they will miss the remaining two games of the season. The 49ers have sank fast losing five of their last six games and were eliminated from post season on Sunday when they lost to the Miami Dolphins 29-17.

#5 Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes says his ankle should be alright and he was ready to go under center on Christmas day against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Mahomes said that the team hasn’t done a lot of as far as getting on the practice field saying they’ve done two walk throughs. Mahomes says he can walk around and do what he needs to do that all in all he came out pretty well.

#1 The New York Rangers are trying to figure out what has gone wrong with their hockey club. The Rangers had best record last season but now have lost eight of their last ten games. After two games after trading defenseman Jacob Trouba to the Anaheim Ducks the Rangers lost both of those games which included a home loss to one of the worst teams in the NHL the Chicago Blackhawks 2-1.

#2 The Colorado Avalanche acquired goaltender MacKenzie Blackwood from the San Jose Sharks on Monday. The Aves also picked up Giovani Smith from the Sharks in exchange for goaltender Alexander Georgiev and rookie forward Nikolai Kovalenko.

#3 The Chicago Blackhawks have put goaltender Petr Mrazek on injured reserve with left groin injury on Sunday. Mrazek was replaced by goaltender Arvid Soderblom in the first period in Saturday’s game. The Blackhawks lost to the Winnipeg Jets 4-2 loss. Hawks continue to struggle just to get a win and losing Mrazek in the first period

#4 Philadelphia Flyers head coach John Tortorella had some criticism after their game after the Flyers loss to the Boston Bruins in overtime 4-3 at TD Waterhouse in Boston on Saturday. The Flyers were hit for two tripping penalties in the third period and one of the tripping penalties led to a goal against. That led Tortorella to said in the post game conference that he doesn’t teach his team to dive but maybe he should team them to dive.

#5 Washington Capitals Tom Wilson who scored two goals Saturday night against the Montreal Canadiens got hit with a puck in the left cheek and came back later in the first period. The Caps rallied to beat the Canadiens for a 4-2 win on Wilson’s two goals. Wilson said it felt like his face was falling off but got looked at by the trainer and got back in the game to pick up two goals.

#1 Jessica, the Atlanta Hawks deliberately benched Trae Young to keep him out of the NBA Cup Game on Nov 12th. The Hawks were fined $100,000 for benching Young. The Hawks claimed that Young was suffering from  tendinitis in his right Achilles. The NBA sited that the Hawks were in violation of the player participation policy. The league said that unless a team seeks approved reason to bench a star player and demonstrate that they would end up being investigated and disciplined.

#2 The Milwaukee Bucks Giannis Antetokounmpo sat out Tuesday’s game against the Miami Heat due to a swelled up left knee. Antetokounmpo had been a question mark leading up to Tuesday’s game but after taking pre game warm ups it was decided he would sit this one out. The Bucks still won the game 106-103.

#3 The Houston Rockets have improved immensely thanks to the help from Alperen Sengun who tallied 22 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists and picking up his third triple double for the season. The Rockets got a 117-111 win in overtime over the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Rockets picked another win this time over the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday night 122-115.

#4 The Los Angeles Lakers LeBron James and the Phoenix Suns Kevin Durant are ageless as both were trading off dunks in their game on Tuesday night in a game the Lakers lost their third straight game. 127-100. Durant scored 23 and LeBron finished with 18. Although neither were the leading scorer that presence that both players bring give their teammates that much more confidence.

#5 Los Angeles Lakers assistant coach Lindsey Harding has put in the hard work to get where she is today. Lindsey started out in the WNBA, played in Turkey and Russia, she was a scout for the Philadelphia 76ers, she was an assistant coach for the Sacramento Kings 2022-23, then became a head coach for the G League Stockton Kings 2023-24 and won the coach of the year award and now is an assistant coach at the Lakers. She is one of six female NBA assistant coaches. She’s climbing the ladder and someday will become a NBA head coach.

#1On Monday Night Football the Miami Dolphins whose quarterback Tua Tagovailoa who had his share of concussions, the team has had major injuries, and the Dolphins have not played as consistent as they would like to. The Dolphins pulled off a 23-15 win over the Los Angeles Rams. Tyreek Hill caught a touchdown pass in the third quarter which ended Hill’s scoreless streak in what was the longest of his career.

#2 Fox analyst and former New York Giant Michael Strahan caught a lot backlash for not saluting or putting his hand over his heart during the national anthem during the Veterans Day broadcast at the San Diego Naval Base. Fans wrote in questioning Starham’s patriotism and some defended Straham saying he didn’t do anything wrong and was respectful by standing for the anthem.

#3 Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has decided to have surgery for a torn hamstring. The surgery will end Prescott’s season. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said on his radio show, “His prognosis in wonderful. It just means were not going to have him for the rest of the year.”

#4 The Chicago Bears who fired offensive coordinator Shane Waldron and promoted offensive passing game coordinator Thomas Brown. The Bears are on a three game losing streak and are 30th in the NFL in offense. Head coach Matt Eberflus said on the moves and decisions on assistant coaches are “mine alone.”

#5 San Francisco 49ers corner Demmodore Lenoir in just nine games proved his worth and was rewarded a $52 million five year extension. The 49ers were not in rush to give Lenoir an extension but Lenoir proved his worth with 53 tackles, on forced a fumble and two interceptions. His passer rating when being the nearest defender was at 66.5 percent.

#1 Former Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco will be the starting quarterback after the Indianapolis Colts have benched Anthony Richardson. The Colts coaching staff met on Tuesday and decided to make the change. The decision was made after Richardson requested to come out of last Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans for one play as Richardson said he was “tired.

#2 Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson who under center leads the number one offense in the NFL. The Ravens have landed a key wide receiver from the Carolina Panthers Diontae Johnson who just needs to pass a physical. This is Johnson’s second trade this season who started the year with the Pittsburgh Steelers before joining the Panthers.

#3 The Wayne County prosecutors office are seeking an arrest warrant for Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams for a concealed weapons charges. Williams was carrying a weapon in a car when he was stopped by the Detroit Police on Oct 8 for a moving violation.

#4 The NBA has fined the Philadelphia 76ers $100,000 for public statements concerning the health status of Joel Embiid. The investigation showed that the 76ers did not violate the player participation policy regarding Embiid’s missed games but the Sixers made public comments that did not properly show issues with his knee.

#5 The Golden State Warriors Andrew Wiggins sat out with an injury due to a lower back strain. Wiggins was questioned whether he would play on Tuesday on Sunday Wiggins back tightened up. Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said that it was not one particular play that caused the back tightening up.

#1 Well Jessica if you enjoy covering former Las Vegas Raider players who are on the trade block the last 24 hours this is the coverage for you. Former Raider Amari Cooper was dealt on Tuesday to the Buffalo Bills giving the Bills a solid receiver from the Cleveland Browns. Cooper for the Browns thus far this season has 24 receptions, 250 yards, two touchdowns, and is averaging 10.4 yards.

#2 With the addition of Devante Adams at wide receiver for the New York Jets joining quarterback Aaron Rogers. Rogers said it will be the added punch the Jets need on the receiving core, “Obviously, I’m really excited,” Rodgers said, “It’s on us now. We’re going all in.”

#3 Former New England Patriot legend Tom Brady will be a minority owner for the Las Vegas Raiders. The Brady stake in the purchase was approved by the NFL owners on Tuesday. Brady played 23 seasons with the Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers combined.

#4 Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is none too happy about talk show hosts  Shan Shariff, R.J. Choppy and Bobby Belt at 105.3 The Fan. Jones was asked on the show if the lack of aggressiveness was the reason why the Cowboys were 3-3. “That’s not your job or I’ll get somebody else to ask these questions, men. No, no. I’m not kidding.” said Jones

#5 The Atlanta Falcons will host the Super Bowl LXII in 2028. It will be the fourth time Atlanta will host the Super Bowl. It’s the Atlanta’s first time since 2019.
