Kings Lose Another Falling To the Thunder 113-99

Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (2) takes a shot over the Sacramento Kings guards Nique Clifford (5) and Dennis Schroder (17) at Pay Com Center in Oklahoma City on Wed Nov 19, 2025 (AP News photo)

It was more of the same for the Sacramento Kings (3-12) as they took on the NBA defending champions the powerhouse Oklahoma City Thunder (15-1) losing 113-99. As we have seen over and over this season, the Kings are fully capable of hanging with the best but have fallen way short closing out games in the second half.

The Kings offense fell short with some frankly embarrassing numbers in fact it was bench player Drew Eubanks who had the high for the team with 21 points. When you have Zach LaVine and Russell Westbrook combine for 15 points there is reason for some real concern.

Game recap: The first quarter was a real fight between the two teams with the Thunder edging Sacramento 27-25 after the first 12 minutes of play. The Kings took the lead briefly several times in the opening quarter. The largest lead for the Thunder was four points as the scrappy Kings fought hard throughout the quarter.

The second quarter was another battle between the two teams with the Kings threatening to take the lead but just coming up short. As the final minutes of the half wound down, the Thunder started to turn the quarter around finishing with an eight-point lead 58-50 their largest of the game. OKC had outscored the Kings 31-25.

Sacramento had a productive first half of basketball. They had decent ball protection with seven turnovers only conceding four points on those turnovers. They were shooting at a 31% clip from beyond the arc, the Thunder at 19%.

They had fallen short at the line only making six of 11 for a 55% success rate. Sacramento also struggled in the paint making 22 points to the Thunder’s 30. The good news was that the Kings had not made it at all easy for OKC and they had done it with two of their best players out with injury.

Dennis Schroeder had been terrific off the bench scoring 15 points the only King in double figures. Sacramento’s Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan had slow starts in the first half.

It was not a great start in the third quarter for the Kings with the Thunder extending their lead 61-50 when Chet Holmgren sunk a 25-foot jumper prompting a Sacramento time out. After OKC had taken a 13 point lead the Kings rallied mid-way through the quarter cutting the Thunder lead in half 67-61.

Turnovers continued to hamper the Kings committing nine more in the quarter.. After a nice King’s run the Thunder pushed back extending their lead back out to 83-67 and the Thunder were looking to take this one home for their 15th win of the season. OKC took the 83-67 lead into the fourth quarter.

The Thunder hung on leading by double digits throughout the fourth quarter and closed out this game winning by the score of 113-99 for their 15th win of the season.

Drew Schroeder had the team high of 21 coming off the bench. Only two starters had double figures, DeMar DeRozan with 17 and Precious Achiuwa with 15. The Kings had 18 turnovers, 11 in the second quarter. Sacramento’s season record continues to plummet and there seems to be no relief in sight.

Game notes: Wednesday evening in Oklahoma City, the Kings took on another giant, the league leading Thunder. Sacramento had faced a crazy schedule since the season began taking on the elite of the NBA. Wednesday night as they faced the NBA Champions, a team that has only lost a single game this season; they were tested to their core.

Unfortunately the Kings were short-handed with one of their key players Domantas Sabonis out. Sabonis has been playing through a ribcage issue forcing him to miss time on the court and now more misery with a knee injury.

OKC will be missing Jalen Williams out with a wrist injury. The Thunder come into this game after beating the New Orlean Pelicans Monday night 126-109 while the Kings lost their sixth game in a row to the San Antonio Spurs.

The Sacramento starting lineup will start Drew Eubanks in Sabonis’ place. We have seen the Kings hang with the best of the best this season but we have also seen them drop leads in the fourth quarter with regularity.

The Kings will continue this road trip Thursday heading to Memphis taking on the Grizzlies who are also struggling this season with a 4-11 record. Tipoff for this game is scheduled for 5:00 PM.

That’s Amaury News and Commentary: A’s Pouring Cement in Las Vegas as the Betrayal continues

Former Oakland A’s president David Kaval in 2016 touted how the A’s would build a new ballpark at Howard Terminal near Jack London Square in Oakland. In 2023 Kaval announced the team would move to Las Vegas and later resigned his position with the A’s. ( photo from Forbes)

A’s Pouring Cement in Las Vegas as the Betrayal continues

That’s Amaury News and Commentary

By Amaury Pi-González

For Oakland A’s fans, this pouring of cement at their under-construction new location in Las Vegas feels like the Mafia burying them in cement. In my opinion, a relocation that did not have to happen. The Oakland media market is ranked in the Top 10 US markets by Nielsen ratings, while Las Vegas, Nevada, is ranked 40th.

In baseball terms, that is like comparing a .330 hitter in Oakland to a .220 hitter in Las Vegas. But…no problem, “pour more cement” says one guy smoking a Havana at the Tropicana location.. In the late 1950s, Brooklyn Dodgers fans felt a sense of abandonment and loss when they moved to Los Angeles, much as New York Giants fans felt heartbroken and betrayed when they moved to San Francisco in 1958.

The story of the Oakland A’s is in some way similar to that of the two New York teams. Especially because the Dodgers and Giants left New York primarily because of a stadium situation. In New York, with the city planner Robert Moses, plus also financial opportunities in untapped markets in California.

The difference is that California was indeed a huge untapped market for Major League Baseball, offering a great opportunity for these teams. Does anybody believe Las Vegas is like Los Angeles or Oakland-San Francisco? In mid-November 2016, the Oakland A’s named Dave Kaval President of the Oakland Athletics. Kaval would come into our Spanish radio booth at the Oakland Coliseum and talk about the new ballpark for the A’s in Oakland, although he did not speak Spanish, we translated very clear and remember when Kaval would tell us/radio audience: “the new A’s park would be next to the bay, a beautiful setting, just like the Giants across the bay.”

He visited many times to “update us” on the new A’s Oakland ballpark; he spoke of it ad nauseam. A good friend who is a huge baseball fan described Mr Kaval to me simply like this: “he is a weasel”. Before 1958, California had several professional minor league baseball teams, such as the San Francisco Seals in the PCL, where young players like Joe DiMaggio and his brother, Vin DiMaggio, played.

Also, here in California, the great Ted Williams played professional baseball years before the Dodgers and Giants arrived in the Golden State. The Hollywood Stars were a rival of the LA Angels. My father-in-law, (Joe)Clardy, played in the early 1950s for the Las Vegas Wranglers.. which was the only professional baseball team in Las Vegas.

The SF Giants released a statement after the A’s relocation to Las Vegas was announced, calling the move a “loss for all baseball fans” The team acknowledged the A’s as a “big part of Bay Area baseball history” and expressed sadness over the potential departure of their East Bay rivals.

Well, the San Francisco Giants were among all the 30 teams that voted to have the A’s leave Oakland. Like the famous line from The Godfather is ‘It’s not personal. It’s strictly business,” delivered by Michael Corleone and also by Salvatore Tessio.

Note: Currently, the smallest Major League Baseball stadium is Progressive Field in Cleveland with a capacity of 34,830. A’s in Las Vegas is projected to have 33,000 seats, making it the smallest in MLB. It took three months to film the movie “Viva Las Vegas” with Elvis, which also featured some scenes at The Tropicana.

Camden scores 20 in surprisingly-close 67-57 Cal win over Presbyterian

Presbyterian Blue Hose 57 (3-4)

California Golden Bears 67 (4-1)

By Stephen Ruderman

John Camden led the way with a 20-point night, as the Bears returned home for a surprisingly-close 67-57 win over the Presbyterian Blue Hose.

The Bears nearly pulled off an impossible comeback their last time out in Manhattan, Kansas last Thursday. However, they took one on the chin, 99-96 to the Kansas State Wild Cats, for their first loss of the season.

As the Bears got underway tonight back home in Berkeley, they took on the lesser-known Presbyterian Blue Hose from Clinton, South Carolina. That did not mean that this would be an easy time for the Bears.

Cal had a hard time pulling away in the first half. Chris Dort made a layup to make it 27-20 with 4:49 to go until halftime, and the Bears finally appeared to have established a lead. However, the Blue Hose clawed back with a 9-2 to run to tie the game at 29-29 with 48 seconds to go. Fortunately, Milos Ilic made a layup, and Cal went into the half with a 31-29 lead.

Things remained close at the beginning of the second half, and Presbyterian even took a pair of leads. In fact, Carl Parrish hit a three to give the Blue Hose a 44-43 with 12:17 left to go.

The Bears were staring down the barrel at a potential loss to the type of lesser-known team they are supposed to clobber. Perhaps that sent a burst of energy into the Bears, as Dai Dai Ames and John Camden hit threes to put Cal back ahead, 49-44.

From there, the Bears mostly had control of the game, though a jumper by Jonah Pierce allowed the Blue Hose to cut Cal’s lead to 53-51 with 6:13 left. The Bears then regained a rather-comfortable lead, and they were ultimately able to win it by 10 at 67-57.

In addition to Camden’s 20-point night, Lee Dort scored 15, and Chris Bell followed with 14.

The Bears are now 4-1 on the season.

Cal will take on the Sacramento State Hornets here at Hoss on Friday night. Tipoff will be at 7 p.m.

Macklin Celebrini’s Hat Trick Lifts Sharks Past Mammoth in Overtime 3-2

Macklin Celebrini #71 of the San Jose Sharks is congratulated by teammates after he scored his third goal of the night for a hat trick in overtime to win their game against the Utah Mammoth at SAP Center on November 18, 2025 in San Jose, California. (Mandatory Photo Credit: Ezra Shaw/Getty Images)

By Jeremiah Salmonson

DOWNTOWN SAN JOSE – The San Jose Sharks returned home from a three game road trip as winners of five of their last eight games to take on the Utah Mammoth on Tuesday night. The Sharks, having lost the final two games of the trip and looking for a win, defeated the Utah Mammoth in overtime, 3-2, as Macklin Celebrini recorded a hat trick.

The Sharks pounced on the Mammoth early on Tuesday night as Macklin Celebrini scored on a wrister on the left side of the Sharks offensive zone after just 1:47 gone in the first period. Celebrini’s shot was assisted by Will Smith and Philipp Kurashev to give the Sharks the early 1-0 lead.

However, Macklin Celebrini and the Sharks weren’t done yet. Celebrini followed up his early goal with a second goal at the 5:58 mark to give the Sharks the 2-0 lead over the Mammoth. It was an early Macklin hat trick watch for Sharks fans at the Tank. Macklin’s second goal was a wrister that was clocked at 84.6 MPH as Celebrini tucked it just under the right blocker of Vitek Vanecek.

The Sharks finished the first period up 2-0 and in a commanding position in the game.

In the second period, both the Sharks and the Mammoth played a less urgent brand of hockey. Neither team was really commanding the puck or checking, which led to a slow and uneventful second period.

In the third period, it was all Utah. The Mammoth, who had yet to score in the game, scored twice in the third period to tie the game and send the game to overtime. Utah also had to overcome a goal that was waived off after it was deemed the Mammoth interfered with Yaroslav Askarov. The game went to overtime and Utah had all the momentum going for them.

In overtime, of course it was Macklin Celebrini who came through for the San Jose Sharks. After the Sharks started the overtime slow and without much time in the offensive zone, the Mammoth were charged with a penalty, and this got a fourth man on the ice for the Sharks. Macklin Celebrini ended the game scoring the overtime goal with 2:08 to go in the overtime session as he sent the SAP Center crowd into a frenzy. His goal was assisted by William Eklund and Will Smith. It was a hat trick for Celebrini who provided all the scoring for the Sharks in the 3-2 victory in overtime.

As expected, Macklin Celebrini led the Sharks with three points on his three goals in the game. Will Smith finished the game with two points on his two assists as Collin Graf, William Eklund, and Philipp Kurashev each added a point via assists.

The Sharks improved to 9-8-3 on the season which is good enough for 21 points and just two points out of a Wild Card spot.

Up Next:

The Sharks will stay home to take on the LA Kings on Thursday at 7 p.m. PST in San Jose at SAP Center.

Las Vegas Raiders podcast Tony Renteria:

#1 Tony another rough one for the Las Vegas Raiders (2-8) on their homefield losing to the visiting Dallas Cowboys (4-5-1) on Monday Night Football. It was a real “Turn out the lights the party is over” as the Raiders were clobbered 33-16 at Allegiant Stadium.

#2 Raiders quarterback Geno Smith tried to get some passing yards going but Dallas just broke through the Las Vegas offensive line and scored a whopping 21 points in the second quarter.

#3 For Smith 27-42, 238 yards, one touchdown and one interception. No doubt on trying to get anything going it was a frustrating evening for Smith in another loss chalked up by the Raiders.

#4 The Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott pretty much had command and got some time to throw the football going 25-33, 268 yards, and four touchdowns.

#5 Raiders try to pick up the pieces and go at it again next Sun Nov 23 against the Cleveland Browns (2-8) who are having their own problems having lost their last three games in a row. How do you see this match up this coming Sunday at Allegiant with Cleveland?
