Bakersfield — The San Jose Barracuda beat the Bakersfield Condors 4-3 at Rabobank Arena on Tuesday night.

The Barracuda had a tilt in Bakersfield before returning home to host the Stockton Heat (26-23-5-1 ) on Friday night in a St. Patrick’s Day game with Freebie Friday specials.

The Barracuda poured in the goals in the first period.

Julius Bergman blasted a shot from the right point for his third goal of the season, giving his team a 1-0 lead 3:20 into the period.

Rourke Chartier threw the puck to the net from the left faceoff dot to beat Nick Ellis short-side for his 14th goal of the season to make it a 2-0 game.

Jon Martin scored his second goal of the season at 9:32 to extend the Barracuda’s lead to 3-0.

The Barracuda outshot the Condors 17-5 and had a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes.

The second period featured tons of action between the two division rivals.

Zach Stortini and Braden Christoffer dropped the gloves and fought at 11:47. As a result, both players were assessed five-minute majors for fighting.

The Condors got on the board at 12:53 when Justin Fontaine scored his 11th goal of the season.

Jacob Middleton scored his first professional goal with 4:39 left in the period, expanding the Barracuda’s lead to 4-1.

Shots were 22-18 in favor of the Barracuda, who were up 4-1 after 40 minutes.

However, the Barracuda’s lead didn’t last long in the third period.

The Condors cut the lead in half at 6:22 of the period as Jordan Osterle picked up a pass from Anton Lander and fired it into the net for his sixth goal of the season.

Jaedon Descheneau made it a one-goal game less than three minutes later. Descheneau stood alone in front of the net and beat Troy Grosenick for his second of the season.

The Barracuda (37-12-2-4) edged the Condors (26-23-5-1) by a score of 4-3 on the road.

The Barracuda return to action Friday night when they host the Heat at 7:30 p.m. PST on AHL Live and AM 1220 KDOW.
