#1 Arizona Diamondbacks Blaze Alexander hit a home run that help beat the Sacramento Athletics 6-4 on Sunday. After winning seven out of their last eight games the A’s dropped their last two games to the Diamondbacks dropping the series going 1-2.
#2 The Diamondbacks Alek Thomas and Geraldo Perdomo had three hits a piece and the Diamondbacks won the rubber game on Sunday.
#3 The Nick Kurtz is not one to give up on Saturday night he got up ended in collision with catcher and teammate Shea Langeliers when both were going for a pop up to right of home plate Kurtz got the worst of it but stayed the game. Kurtz on Sunday helped the A’s cut the Diamondbacks lead when he hit a two RBI single in the fifth inning.
#4 The Diamondbacks closer Kyle Nelson came in in the ninth inning and picked up his first save for 2025. It came with a little work as the A’s JJ Bleday hit a solo home run. Nelson later got the A’s Gio Urshela to fly out to centerfield and Max Schuemann struck swinging.
#5 The A’s are off on Monday and open a three game series in Washington DC on Tuesday. For the A’s RHP Luis Severino (5-11 ERA 4.83) for the Washington Nationals Taijuan Walker (3-5 ERA 3.82) first pitch 3:45pm PT.

#1 In speaking with other reporters Amaury the aftermath of the Rob Manfred-Bryce Harper F bomb tirade is considered the first volley as the Players Union and the Commissioner’s office teed off in the clubhouse in Philadelphia as the CBA expires at the end of the next year with a chance that the 2027 season could be locked out.
#2 Ronald Acuna Jr the Atlanta Braves outfielder had to leave Tuesday night’s game against the Kansas City Royals due to tightness in his right Achilles tendon. Acuna was put on the 10 day injured list on Wednesday morning. Aucna was chasing a ball in right field and felt tightness in the Achilles. The Braves medical staff will be checking Acuna Wednesday before their game.
#3 As New York Yankees superstar Aaron Judge is out with an arm injury the Yankees traded for outfielder Austin Slater from the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday. The Yankees are trying to strengthen their line up without Judge and might make some more moves before Thursday’s trade deadline. The Sox got minor league pitcher Gage Ziehl for Slater.
#4 Amaury the San Francisco Giants are on a five game losing streak, they have the worst record in baseball since July 9 at 3-12 (.250). People on the talk shows and the sports writers are asking questions. One of those has been is there any difference from the way the club is being ran since former Giants president Farhan Zaidi left to the it’s being ran with team president Buster Posey or it’s neither one of their faults and the buck stops with team CEO Larry Baer who signs off on who comes and goes?
#5 The Sacramento A’s after sweeping the Houston Astros in four games in Houston have won five of their last six games. The A’s are going well getting hitting from their big boppers Brent Rooker, Lawrence Butler, Nick Kurtz, and Jacob Wilson. They’ve also been getting some great pitching from their starters JP Sears, JT Gin, Jacob Lopez and Luis Severino.

In 2001, when Ichiro Suzuki made his debut in Major League Baseball, I was broadcasting all home games for the Mariners in Seattle and then returning to the Bay Area to do the same for the San Francisco Giants, both in Spanish.
Ichiro was a special guy, extremely focused, disciplined, hard-working, and a great contact hitter. For me, Ichiro was a leadoff hitter in the category of Rickey Henderson and Pete Rose, a great contact hitter, speed on the bases, and, for Ichiro, a great and accurate throwing arm from right field.
Ichiro took over the Mariners franchise record in stolen bases, previously held by Julio Cruz (who was my broadcast partner in Seattle, may he rest in Peace). Julio’s franchise record was 290. Ichiro surpassed that category for the Mariners.
Ichiro Suzuki’s American League records include a single-season hits record of 262 in 2004. I was privileged to call that hit in 2004 at Safeco Field. Since Ichiro arrived and during his first season, I believed and commented that he had the talent to be a potential Hall of Fame player.
In 2001, Ichiro provided an example of how his career was going to unfold. During that first season in the US, the Japanese star did something that nobody to this date has ever done.
1-Won the AL Batting title. 350 2-Won Rookie of the Year. 3-Won the Gold Glove. 4-Won the Silver Slugger, and (5) last but not least, was selected to be a starter in the All-Star Game. This was a first in history for a major league player.
This week, Ichiro Suzuki received 393 votes out of 394 cast in the 2025 Baseball Hall of Fame election, making him one vote short of a unanimous selection. One vote short? How can anybody who covered this player’s career not vote for him for Cooperstown?
That is puzzling to me. Seattle again? Another great Mariner player, Ken Griffey Jr., was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2016, and was not elected unanimously, by a single vote. Could it be possible that this was the same Baseball Writer who did not vote for these two legendary Mariners players?
You tell me. Incredible. Increible,信じられない Today, many questions in the baseball world remain (obviously, by Mariners fans), and are not answered, although the Baseball Writers Association of America does not release the names of the writers who vote.
However, since we can always speculate, there could be a personal reason, including racism, if a player is racist, a writer could also be, and nobody really knows. We know that Ty Cobb, for example, who won twelve (12) batting titles, was not unanimously elected to Cooperstown; he was four votes short of unanimity.
Why? more than likely, since Cobb was a well-known racist, it is probably what cost him unanimity. In my book, this is the Hall of Fame for Baseball, for your skills as a baseball player, and that should be it. No more, no less.
I recommend a visit to the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, New York. A beautiful part of the country. The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, NY, is open seven days a week, 362 days a year.
It’s closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day. Extended hours are offered from Memorial Day weekend through the day before Labor Day. If you are a baseball aficionado, this must be on your bucket list.

Baseball is a Sport of failure. You get one hit in three at-bats, and you are a very good hitter, hitting .333, an average that is worthy of a batting title most of the time, even though you failed twice in three tries. But sometimes you can hit the big jackpot in one game, and the whole world will know your name, especially nowadays with social media constantly on our minds every single second of the day. Here are some examples.
Most recently: A’s Nick Kurtz, a 22-year-old rookie, went out and did something even rarer in a 15-3 blowout win over the Astros in Houston on July 25, 2025 Going a perfect 6-for-6 with four home runs, Kurtz became the first A’s player in franchise history with a four-homer game, the first rookie in MLB history with a four homer game, and the 20th player overall.
Prior to Kurtz, veteran Eugenio Suárez of the Arizona Diamondbacks hit four home runs on April 25, 2025. Kurtz is just beginning his career, and only time will tell how good a player he will be. But in this 4-homer game, he was the King of Baseball.
Now everybody knows who Nick Kurtz is, and just like that, he became a contender for American League Rookie of the Year., Sometimes, One Day can make a Career. On May 9, 2010, Dallas Braden, while pitching for the Oakland Athletics, achieved the feat against the Tampa Bay Rays.
The game, which took place on Mother’s Day, was the 19th perfect game in MLB history. I was there, calling the game for the Spanish radio Network, at the Oakland Alameda County Coliseum. Braden pitched in the majors for only five years, all with the Oakland A’s, and ended his career with a 26-36 record and a 4.16 earned run average.
Not a great career by any means, but that Perfecto on May 9, 2010, opened the door for him, as he now works as the A’s television network analyst. Don Larsen was an American League pitcher who played 15 seasons in the Major Leagues from 1953 to 1987 (81-91) for seven different teams, including the New York Yankees, where he made history.
Larsen pitched a perfect game in Game 5 of the 1956 World Series against the Brooklyn Dodgers. This remains the only perfect game ever thrown in World Series history. The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown houses several items related to Don Larsen’s perfect game in the 1956 World Series, including autographed baseballs used in the game, tickets, and photos.
Larsen’s catcher, Yogi Berra, also had his mitt from that game displayed. After his baseball career, Larsen became an executive for a paper company, where he worked closely with farmers in California’s Salinas Valley. On a funny note: Charlie Silveira who was a third string catcher for the Yankees told me and other reporters that after that perfecto he asked Yogi Berra for a souvenir, “I warmed him up for that game” Silveira told me, and according to his story, he asked Yogi for a souvenir, Yogi said he had nothing left, but the next day Yogi gave Charlie a brown bag, (with a souvenir) it was Larsen’s cup, the one he wore on that game. Charlie, who passed a few years ago, told me, “I have Larsen’s cup in my living room as a souvenir”. In September 1971, Larry Yount was called up to the Houston Astros and was set to make his MLB debut as a pitcher. However, as he warmed up on the mound, his elbow began to hurt, and he eventually left the game without throwing a single official pitch or facing a batter.
This single unusual appearance in a game marked the entirety of his MLB career. He never played in the majors again. Because he was officially announced as a pitcher, Yount is in the baseball record books and even has a file in the Hall of Fame.
His brother Robin Yount played from 1974 to 1993, won two AL MVP Awards, and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1999 Owner and Manager for one Game. On May 11, 1977, Atlanta Braves owner Ted Turner added another story when he ventured from the owner’s suite to the dugout to manage the Braves. His job lasted only one night; Major League Baseball’s powers that be reminded Turner that a rule prevented managers from partial or full ownership of a team.
However, this was not unique to baseball. NFL George Halas, who founded and coached the Chicago Bears. Al Davis, also the owner of the Oakland Raiders, coached the team. But some did, if not just for one game, but multiple seasons.
A record in any sport for an owner and manager at the same time? Connie Mack, Philadelphia Athletics, was also at least a part-owner of the team from 1901 until 1954, as well as field manager. Last but not Least: Baseball is unique in that the defensive team controls the ball at the start of each play.. In most other sports, the offensive team initiates play by possessing the ball. In baseball, the pitcher (a defensive player) throws the ball to the batter (offensive player), making baseball the only sport where the defense starts with the ball.

How does the A’s Controversy compare to others in Baseball?

There is no doubt that the 1919 Black Sox Scandal which involved eight Chicago White Sox players who were accused of intentionally losing the World Series against the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for money from gamblers is the biggest scandal in the game, primarily due to the players’ betrayal of the game and its fans.
Unless something even more scandalous rocks the baseball world, this will remain the undisputed number one scandal. Gambling has been a long-standing issue in the game. In 1877, the Louisville Grays were embroiled in a gambling scandal during the National League’s second season.
And to close the book on gambling. Most recently, the Houston Astros sign-stealing scandal involved the team illegally using a video replay system to steal signs from opposing teams during the 2017 and 2018 seasons.
There are many other scandals in “the grand old game”, a sentimental description often used to refer to baseball, the richest American sport, which is ingrained in our culture longer than any other game, dating back to 1874, when the United States had 37 States and eight major league baseball teams competing in the National Association, which later became the National League, as stated above.
The Oakland A’s relocation is not a scandal (at least not at present), but has definitely been a controversy to this day, as they are in the second phase (Sacramento) of what they call their final and permanent location in Las Vegas, Nevada, which would be an unprecedented fourth home for this franchise.
Philadelphia, Kansas City, Oakland, Las Vegas. No major league franchise, on record, has played in four different cities. Although the A’s were founded in 1901 in Philadelphia, where they played for 54 seasons, Oakland was the city where the A’s played the longest, for a total of 57 seasons; they were the Oakland A’s.
The relocation of the A’s was announced by ownership on April 4, 2024. A’s fans feel betrayed by the team’s owner for moving the team, considering the deep roots and very passionate fan base in Oakland. The Oakland Athletics have won four World Series titles and six American League Pennants while playing in Oakland while the A’s relocation is not a scandal, it is a significant controversy, as numerous baseball personalities on television, radio, podcasts, print media, players past and present, as well as fans, across the country have called John Fisher the worst owner in Sports.
That is not a title Mr.Fisher would like to carry the rest of his life, until the Lord calls him to the big executive office in the sky, although I would not be surprised if the Lord sends him back to the minor leagues, Class A level.
Ultimately, a team reflects the personality of the owner. And the best Oakland A’s ownership was during Walter A. Haas Jr.’s tenure, during which the Oakland A’s won one World Series (1989) and three consecutive American League pennants (1988-1990).
In 1989, the A’s also set a Bay Area attendance record, with over 2.9 million fans, which at the time was higher than the San Francisco Giants, who were struggling to sell tickets at Candlestick Park.
The front office of the A’s had professionals who knew what they were doing, such as Andy Dolich and Sandy Alderson. Most importantly, the A’s were also known for their community outreach, a characteristic that Mr. Fisher never demonstrated during the years he ran the team in Oakland and currently in Sacramento.
Since the A’s departure the Oakland Ballers, also known as the Oakland B’s (a new team) was formed by fans and community members in direct response to the A’s betrayal of Oakland and their fans.. This team is part of the Pioneer League, and fans have responded well to this Oakland team, keeping baseball alive in ‘The Town’. Quote: Philadelphia Phillies owner John Middleton, who stated, ‘We have an obligation. We are accountable to the fans and to the city. If you don’t approach it that way, you should not be an owner, in my opinion”.

According to a Gallup poll conducted in May 2025, 69% of US adults believe that transgender athletes should only be allowed to compete on sports teams that align with the sex they were assigned at birth . This indicates a majority of Americans support restricting the participation of transgender athletes in sports based on their birth-assigned sex.
The next Summer Olympics in the United States will be held in 2028, in Los Angeles. The games are scheduled to take place from July 14 to July 30, 2028. This will be the third time Los Angeles has hosted the Summer Olympics, previously hosting in 1932 and 1984.
Chris Mosier is arguably the most famous transgender athlete in the US, recognized for his achievements as a triathlete and dual athlete, as well as for being a vocal advocate for transgender rights in sports. While other transgender athletes like Lia Thomas (swimmer) and famous Caitlin Jenner (decathlete) have gained significant media attention.
As a matter of fact, before being known as Caitlin Jenner, she was known as Bruce Jenner was a well-known Olympic gold medalist in the decathlon. He later became a television personality and was part of the Kardashian family’s reality television show. Caitlin Jenner, has publicly stated her opposition to transgender women competing in women’s sports, including at the Olympic level .
She argues that it’s a matter of fairness hat individuals assigned male at birth who have gone through male puberty have inherent biological advantages that make competition against cisgender women unfair. Also that it undermines women’s sports, as allowing transgender women to compete in women’s sports take away opportunities and may cause physical harm to biological women athletes.
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is a federal law protects women in sports. I agree 100X100 with the Olympic committee, at the end, God made two sexes and God doesn’t change your sex after you are born. This decision by the Olympic Committee shows the ultimate respect for women athletes. It is only common sense, which in this time in history we are living, is not that common anymore.

#1 Philadelphia Phillies ghost runner Brandon Marsh scored the winning run on catcher’s interference in the bottom of the tenth inning with the bases loaded in a Phillies walk off win over the Boston Red Sox. In the tenth the Phils Edmundo Sosa checked his swing on Red Sox pitch from Jordan Hicks that was a ball but Sosa’s bat caught Sox catcher Carlos Narvaez. The Phillies asked for a review which showed the interference that allowed Marsh to score from third.
#2 The Arizona Diamondbacks Eugenio Suarez belted his fifth home run in his last three games, hitting a solo shot against the Houston Astros on Monday night. Suarez 34 years old hit his 35th home run and taking on the opposition when he gets the opportunity.
#3 Los Angeles Dodgers Freddie Freeman took an 88 MHP sinker off his left wrist Sunday. Freeman’s X-rays came back negative. The swelling on the wrist subsided. On Monday Freeman was back in the lineup and was back in the batting cage taking batting practice.
#4 Sacramento A’s centerfielder Denzel Clarke will be placed on the injured list after suffering from an adductor strain. A’s manager Mark Kotsay said that a roster move will be made on Tuesday. Kotsay said the A’s weren’t able to get a replacement to Texas in time for the game on Monday night. Clarke left the game on Sunday night with hip discomfort. Clarke hit .230 through 47 games.
#5 The A’s are shopping pitcher Luis Severino, Jefferey Springs, and JP Sears. Springs will be owed $10.5 million in 2026 and has a $15 million option for 2027. Severino has expressed that he was not happy pitching at Sutter Health Field in Sacramento because the dirt on the mound was too hard and the dugout didn’t go the clubhouse but you had to go through the outfield to get to the clubhouse. Sears does give up the long ball but clubs could use him as he is durable.

As Luis Severino was signed to a three year deal worth $67 million, the largest in A’s history. Severino is the most outspoken player on the A’s roster this season, primarily complaining about pitching in a minor league park, among other things.
And that shows. His ERA at home is 7.04, while outside of Sacramento, it’s a much more acceptable 3.04. Severino’s contract indicates that it pays him $25 million in 2026 and $22 million in 2027, unless he opts out on that final 2027 season.
If he does, he could be Adiós. Pitching is always tricky to predict, but it is conceivable that Severno could be traded to a team that needs pitching. Since it seems he is not happy in Sacramento, a place like Dodger Stadium could be suitable for him, since Dodgers pitchers have resembled nothing short of a hospital ward.
Since early in the season, the defending World Champs have 14 pitchers on the injured list. Starters like Tyler Glasnow, Roki Sasaki, Blake Snell, and relievers Evan Phillips and ex-A’s Blake Treinen, just to mention a few of the 14 that visited the IL still with all those injuries, the Dodgers are still in first place.
Severino was supposed to give the Oakland A’s (now playing in Sacramento) a veteran presence on the mound for a young pitching staff, but it has not worked that way. The trade deadline is scheduled for July 31 at p.m. ET.
There are a lot of veteran pitchers available who could be moved before this deadline and Luis Severino, who has won with better teams than the A’s is one of them. Record the most traded?
Jesse Chávez is a 38-year-old pitcher (reliever) who has been traded ten times in less than 15 seasons and traded more than any other player in history, including twice traded, so far, this 2025 season. Chávez pitched for the Oakland A’s 2012-2015. By the way, he is a great guy to talk baseball.

San Francisco Giants legend Will Clark serves as a Special Assistant in the Giants’ front office. In this role, he represents the organization at various events. Clark stated on the No Filter Network that Rafael Devers, who was recently traded from the Boston Red Sox to the San Francisco Giants missed three scheduled workouts for him, which were intended to help Devers acclimate to playing first base.
The voice of the Red Sox initially reported this information, Will Fleming, on the WEEI afternoon radio show, and then later, Clark confirmed Fleming’s story. The Red Sox broadcaster has been critical of Rafael Devers since Devers was traded to the Giants, suggesting a lack of commitment from the recently acquired player and expressing doubt that Devers can ever become a face of the franchise.
While playing in Boston, Rafael Devers was a fan favorite and a talented hitter, but had a complicated reputation in Boston up to the trade to the Giants. In Boston, Devers was criticized for his defense and perceived lack of leadership, creating some tension with the Red Sox front office.
In the opinion of some, that precipitated the trade to San Francisco. Will Clark also revealed that manager Bob Melvin and third base coach Matt Williams asked him to meet with Rafael Devers and work around first base, but Devers failed to show for practice.
While Red Sox manager Alex Cora labeled the stunning trade “not personal,” reports indicate that Devers left Boston with souring relationships within the organization, and in just a few weeks with the Giants, a similar dynamic seems to be unfolding.
This sometimes happens in baseball when a trade of this magnitude occurs, which is why the Red Sox got rid of such a talented player. Well, we might now have the answer. So, around and around it goes, where does this soap opera end? Nobody knows.
