East Wins 2024 All-Star Game 211-186 In An Unforgettable Evening

This weekend, the basketball world gathered in Indianapolis to enjoy the 73rd NBA All-Star game at the home of the Indiana Pacers the Gainbridge Fieldhouse. This yearly event had even more to offer fans as we all witnessed the first-ever NBA vs WNBA 3-point challenge which featured Golden State Warrior’s Stephen Curry and the New York Liberty’s Sabrina Ionescu.

This was a landmark event that went miles for not only the young boys but the young girls watching. What a great moment for all of them driving home the fact that boys and girls can live out their dreams. Nothing is impossible.

Curry barely edged Ionescu in this wild event winning with a vintage performance. He caught fire just in the nick of time winning the challenge 29-26. Had Ionescu not slowed down at the end of her round it could have been an entirely different outcome.

This was a powerful and fun event that is sure to continue for years to come. State Farm made a donation for each shot drained to the NBA Foundation to support economic empowerment in the Black community. This was just one of the many highlights at this year’s All-Star event.

It was then on to the major event. This of course was a who’s-who from the 2024 rosters but we saw some superstars in the booth as well from Draymond Green to Candace Parker.

It was an incredible star-studded event from the players to the celebrities in attendance to the artists who performed the National Anthems of the United States and Canada. Baby Face delivered a beautiful rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner and Charlotte Cardin was flawless performing the Canadian national anthem.

All Star game recap: It was then on to the game as the greatest players in the NBA took the court; the West captained by 20-year all-star Los Angeles Laker LeBron James and the East’s Milwaukee Bucks Giannis Antetokounmpo looking to push the East past the West in this game. This game was especially memorable for Indiana Pacer Tyrese Haliburton playing in his very first All-Star game.

The East took the opening quarter 53-47. Tyrese Haliburton had an impressive quarter being the only player on the floor shooting in double digits with 15 points. He was sure giving home town fans a real show.

The East continued to extend their lead in the second quarter. The West has won the last five of six but it was the East who won last year’s game 184-175 which was played in Salt Lake City. Prior to that game it has been all Lebron and team.

After leading by six points after the first 12 minutes of play, the East took a 104-89 lead into the locker room at the half. They had more than doubled their first quarter lead.

At halftime Damien Lillard had scored the high for both teams with 22 points. Haliburton finished the first half with 18. The West had some work to do in the second half and Curry who finished the first half with 12 points and Kevin Durant also with 12 points were just the ticket to push the West to a win.

One thing that was apparent was the fun that all of these guys were having. While they were competitive with the win and the MVP at stake they were having a great time putting on an amazing show for everyone present.

The first half were two quarters to remember with play that words cannot even begin to describe and it only got better with an amazing halftime show featuring the incomparable award-winning Jennifer Hudson. It was truly a performance not to be missed.

The third quarter saw the East start to pile on more points. After three quarters they were in the driver’s seat 160-136. It also became apparent that Damian Lillard had his focus on the MVP award with some brilliant play and 33 points to his credit through three.

He also had hit nine three’s. He sure seemed to be on a mission looking to add to his hardware after winning the 3-point contest. He was being challenged in the second half of play by Jaylen Brown also with 33 points.

The fourth quarter was a close one with one point separating the two teams. The East had built an almost unreachable lead. The final was 211-186 in favor of the East a record breaking score. To close out the evening the Kobe Bryant MVP award was presented and it went to the amazing Lillard. “It’s an honor playing against the games best,” he said beaming as he accepted the award.

Now it’s back to business for all of these guys as they settle back into the second half of the season leaving fans with memories to last a lifetime.

Golden State Warriors podcast with Barbara Mason: Warriors in disarray Kuminga has lost faith in Kerr; Paul out with hand fracture; Payton out with hamstring

Golden State Warriors Steve Kerr head coach talks with the media. Reports have surfaced that Kerr is getting complaints from Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody in what their role is and how the team is becoming fractured. The big question is will Kerr be back next season? (AP News photo)

On the Warriors podcast with Barbara:

#1 Barbara, there’s no secret the Golden State Warriors are going in a different direction from their World Championship days this 2023-24 has a dressing room that had dissension and questions about the direction of the team starting with Jonathan Kuminga who says he’s lost faith in Steve Kerr’s use of his lack of minutes. Kuminga feels he could be more effective with more minutes played.

#2 Moses Moody also has expressed his frustration with Kerr’s use of his minutes. Moody’s teammates are not happy with the way he’s been used and it’s contributing to misdirection on the floor.

#3 The Warriors dressing room is turning into a soap opera, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins and Kevon Looney have been ineffective and have not been able to score or defend in ways they have in the past.

#4 Warrior guard Stephen Curry had the ball stripped away from him in their game against the Denver Nuggets on Thu Jan 4 at Chase Center. The ball towards the end of the game went to Nokola Jokic who hit a three pointer that defeated the Warriors and handed them their fourth loss in their last six games.

#5 There has been calls from fans to fire and replace Kerr to co-owner Joe Lacob. Kerr’s contract ends at the end of this season and their asking that Lacob doesn’t renew him. The only thing that saves Kerr now is if he can regroup the team and get them on a winning role again. Can Steve Kerr save his job?

#6 The Warriors have two major injuries with Gary Payton II out with a hamstring and Chris Paul out with a fractured left hand.

Wednesday night was do-or-die for the Golden State Warriors, who hosted the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 5 of the Western Conference Semifinals. The Warriors beat the Lakers 121-106 at the Chase Center.

There was star power in the building, as NBA on TNT analyst and former NBA player Baron Davis rang Wednesday’s bell ahead of Game 5. That said, Golden State was good to go.

The Warriors’ starting five featured Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, Gary Payton II, and Draymond Green. Curry scored from downtown to get the Warriors going early in the first quarter. Curry and Green weren’t the Splash Brothers, per se, but the two were the first-quarter kings. The Warriors led 32-28 after the first quarter.

The Warriors continued to pour in the points in the second quarter. Jordan Poole took in the basket to score a layup, Andrew Wiggins provided an offensive spark, and Gary Payton II was so good in scoring in the paint. The Warriors led 70-59 at the half.

The second half saw a superb statistic. Stephen Curry passed Mark Jackson for 22nd most assists in NBA playoff history. Jackson is a former NBA player who played point guard for the New York Knicks, Los Angeles Clippers, Indiana Pacers, Denver Nuggets, Toronto Raptors, Utah Jazz, and Houston Rockets. Jackson also served as the Warriors head coach from 2011 to 2014.

Andrew Wiggins continued to deliver his offensive energy, and the Warriors led 93-82 after three quarters.

The Warriors came in hot in the fourth quarter. Andrew Wiggins was a key offensive player from start to finish, while Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green all contributed offensively.

The Warriors survived a win-or-go-home Game 5 for a 121-106 victory.

Stephen Curry led the Warriors in scoring with 27 points, three rebounds, eight assists, and one block.

Andrew Wiggins recorded 25 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and one steal. Draymond Green scored 20 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, two steals, and one block.

Gary Payton II had 13 points, six rebounds, one assist, and one steal. Jordan Poole had 11 points, one rebound, and four assists. Klay Thompson had 10 points, six rebounds, two assists, one steal, and two blocks. Moses Moody had six points and four rebounds. Jonathan Kuminga had five points, one rebound, and one assist. Kevon Looney had four points, eight rebounds, two assists, two steals, and one block.

Donte DiVincenzo added two rebounds, two assists, and one steal.

The Warriors head to Los Angeles to take on the Lakers in Game 6 on Friday at 7:00 pm Pacific.

Curry crowned the new king of 3 pointers breaks Allen’s record with 2,974; Golden State defeats New York 105-96

Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry takes a three point shot that would break the NBA record held by Ray Allen in the first half against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden in New York on Tue Dec 14, 2021 (AP News photo)

By Jessica Kwong

NEW YORK, NY—Golden State Warriors (23-5) guard Stephen Curry walked into Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night ready to make history against the New York Knicks (12-16) in a 105-96 win. After warming up with a range of shots – including three pointers – Curry walked up to a smiling Ray Allen, the record holder for most three-point field goals in NBA history – but not for long.

Early in the first quarter, Curry sank a three-pointer, tying the record with Allen. Then with 7:33 remaining in the quarter, off a pass from Andrew Wiggins, Curry made the splash from the right wing setting a new record: 2,974 three-pointers.

Golden State then committed a foul and called a timeout that the league let last three-and-a-half minutes to celebrate the greatest shooter of all time. Curry took in his accomplishment at backcourt, then hugged teammates, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr and finally, Allen.

“I talked to Ray last week and he mentioned just make it your own, like, there’s no right way, wrong way to celebrate it. It’s just the way you feel that moment and that’s exactly what happened,” Curry said postgame. “I’m sure as the days go on, I’ll go back to that moment and relive the emotions of it because it was like that, it was really, really awesome.”

Golden State led 12-10 after Curry’s historic shot and the score was tied at 24 at the end of the quarter. The Knicks led 48-47 at the half, but the Warriors took command in the third quarter, finishing 71-64. New York was unable to catch up in the fourth quarter and the Curry and the Warriors won 105-96.

The night ended with more glory for Curry, interviews at center court and MVP chants.

Kerr said the team fouled after Curry’s special shot to give him the moment.

“You know you have to do something you can’t just keep playing,” Kerr said, adding he noticed it was an extra long timeout that was obviously organized beforehand. “It just felt like the right thing to do to make sure we celebrate.”

Wiggins said “Steph is a humble superstar” and that “in his speech, he was just thanking other people.”

Draymond Green admitted that Curry hitting the mark was a huge relief for him and the entire team, and that they can now focus on other goals.

“Steph is the best to ever shoot a basketball,” Green said. “Tonight was a huge step in the right direction for us.”

Regarding being called the greatest shooter of all time, Curry is finally comfortable owning the title.

“I got that baby,” Curry said, raising both arms in the air.

He looks to hit many more three-pointers, but won’t say what his exact goal is.

“Now that I got past that hump I can just let it fly and see how far I can push it,” Curry said. “Whenever I’m done playing, hopefully it’s not anytime soon.”

The Warriors (23-5) lead the western conference and continue their road trip on Friday against the Boston Celtics. Tipoff is at 4:30 p.m.
