#3 Adams who didn’t play in week 6 against the Pittsburgh Steelers with the Raiders. Adams most likely will play for the Jets this Sunday against the Steelers in Pittsburgh.

#4 Talk about some of the circumstances that made Adams unhappy when he was at the Raiders. There was little doubt that he had a falling out with head coach Antonio Pierce.

#5 With Adams joining the Jets there is no doubt the re-union between Adams and quarterback Aaron Rogers is something that the Jets and Rogers are looking forward to.

Raiders dropped their second straight game; losing to Steelers, 32-13, in Sin City

LAS VEGAS, Nev. — The Las Vegas Raiders (2-4) rolled Craps against the Pittsburgh Steelers (4-2), 32-13, on a Sunday Afternoon in the Silver State.

The Raiders fell two games below .500, while failing to stop the Steel City boys from the Quaker State from controlling the scoreboard and the stadium 32-13. There was an overwhelming presence by the well traveled Western Pennsylvania Steelers’ Faithful,, as well as several hundred, to thousands of transplants.

Pittsburgh got on the board first with a 52-yard field goal by kicker Chris Boswell.. The Steelers first drive slowed down, and they settled for a FG. Within the first five minutes of the game, the Black & Goal led the Silver and Black 3-0.

Within the last five minutes of the quarter, the Raiders responded. A three yard TD run by running back Alexander Mattison put the home team up 7-3. That was also the score after the first 15 minutes expired.

The second stanza was all Pittsburgh, as Justin Fields and Boswell provided all the scoring. Boswell booted a 49-yarder, and Fields converted a three yard keeper. At the midpoint of the contest, the Keystone State guests were up 12-7. Justin Fields used both modes of operation, as he passed for 83 yards and rushed for 43.

The second half was more of the same, with Pittsburgh totally controlling the third quarter, adding ten more points to their total. Boswell hit another FG through the uprights (37), and the Steelers led 15-7 at that point of the game. About five minutes later, running back Najee Harris scampered into the the end zone from 36 yards from scrimmage. 22-7, Steelers after 3/4 of the battle was over..

The final quarter was perpetual steel driving, as an interception by the disrespectful Pennsylvanians was immediately converted into more points. Justin Fields decided to end all the nonsense and rush to pay dirt with another keeper (7). Steelernation went up by 22 points, 29-7.

There was still a lot of the quarter left, and the Raiders managed to use that to their advantage. Aidan O’Connell tossed a nine yard TD pass to wide receiver Kristian Wilkerson to bring the deficit to 16 points (29-13), because they failed on the two point conversion.

The Steelers had more ammunition as Boswell used his leg again to increase the lead. With just under four mints left in the game, Pittsburgh’s kicker made another one from 36 yards. The Steelers led 32-13, and would hang on to that margin until the final whistle, after 60 minutes of regulation time.

The Raiders are next in action Sunday, October 20 in Los Angeles, to take on the Rams at 1:05 PM PDT on CBS. The Steelers fly cross-country to host the New York Jets, also on the 20th at 8:15 PM EST.

49ers Falter in Third Quarter But Finish Strong In Fourth Quarter Beat Seattle 36-24

San Francisco 49ers kicker Matthew Wright (35) boots a first half field goal as Seattle Seahawks cornerback Devon Witherspoon (21) watches in first half action at Lumen Field in Seattle on Thu Oct 10, 2024 (AP News photo)

By Barbara Mason

The San Francisco 49ers (3-3) took on the Seattle Seahawks (3-3) Thursday night winning 36-24 to even their season record at 3-3. The Niners had erased the memory of their loss to the Cardinals last Sunday and now they will have ten days to get ready for the Kansas City Chiefs. Quarterback Brock Purdy finished the game with 255 passing yards and three touchdowns. George Kittle was the recipient of two touchdown passes and Isaac Guerendo finished with 99 rushing yards. This was a great bounce back game for the 49ers.

Game recap: Neither team made much headway in the first quarter. In the closing minutes of the opening quarter, San Francisco was able to break through kicking a field goal, a Matthew Wright 25 yard kick for a 3-0 lead.

The 49ers found their stride in the second quarter scoring three times . Deebo Samuel opened the quarter with a huge catch a 76 yard bomb from Brock Purdy for the touchdown and San Francisco had a 10-0 lead.

The 49ers would tack on two more field goals before the half. 49er kicker Wright added 3 more points with his second field goal of the game, a 41 yarder. He would kick a third field goal to end the first half this one a 35 yard attempt that was good and San Francisco had a 16-0 lead.

As time ran out on the half, Seattle’s kicker Jason Myers put the Seahawks up on the board with a 20 yard field goal. The score was 16-3 after two quarters. San Francisco had taken control of the game in the second quarter and would be looking to maintain their momentum through the second half.

The 49ers extended their lead in the third quarter when Purdy connected with George Kittle for ten yards and the touchdown. San Francisco had built a 23-3 lead. The 49ers then stumbled through the rest of the quarter.

At 9:54 the Seahawks Laviska Shenault returned a kick-off for 97 yards and the touchdown. As the third quarter wound down, the Seahawks Kenneth Walker rushed for a single yard and their second touchdown of the quarter and Seattle had fought their way back into the game trailing 23-17.

Kittle put the Seattle comeback to an end at 6:20 in the fourth quarter scoring his second touchdown of the game, a nine yard pass from Purdy. San Francisco had a 29-17 lead and although the Seahawks threatened at times in the final quarter a Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith interception pretty much put this game on ice.

With 1:44 left in the game the Seahawks Tyler Lockett caught a nine yard Smith pass but it was too little too late with the 49ers hanging onto a 29-24 lead. San Francisco capped it off with 1:17 left on the clock and a Kyle Juszczyk six yard romp into the end zone; the 49ers wrapped this game up 36-24. This was San Francisco’s first road win of the season.

This game began to slip away in the third quarter but San Francisco stubbornly hung in the game and finished this game off in the fourth quarter. Purdy had a solid game throwing for 255 yards and three touchdowns with no picks.

Kittle finished this game with two touchdowns and San Francisco closed this game out unlike the Rams and Arizona games. They hope to take this energy back to the Bay Area where they will face the Kansas City Chiefs a week from this Sunday at Levis.

Game notes: Thursday Night Football the 49ers played the Seahawks on Prime at Lumen Field. It was a short week for both teams. The 49ers lost Sunday to the Phoenix Cardinals and Seattle also lost this past weekend to the New York Giants. San Francisco had a 23-10 lead at the half only to drop the game in the second half losing 24-23. The Seahawks were tied with the Giants at the half losing the game 29-20. It was a rough second half for both teams on Sunday.

Kickoff for the October 20th matchup with Kansas City is scheduled for 1:25 PM. San Francisco will have ten days off to not only get ready to face the Chiefs but for some of the players to continue to heal. Jordan Mason injured his left shoulder in the second quarter of this game and was forced to leave the field.

Mason attempted to return in the second half but had to exit again due to a lot of discomfort. The ten-day layoff will be exactly what Mason will need to prepare for Kansas City, to heal and hopefully be ready for the Chiefs.

San Francisco 49ers podcast with David Zizmor: Add Moody to IL Wright signed to kick on Thursday Night Football; Could Saleh rejoin 49ers?

Saleh is being sought by several teams for defensive coordinator including a possible return to San Francisco.

#3 San Francisco cornerback Deommondore Lenoir said the 49ers need to regroup coming off the loss to the Arizona Cardinals last Sunday saying, “We’ve got a lot of new additions. So we’ve got to build that camaraderie.”

San Francisco Allows Monster Arizona Comeback Losing 24-23

Arizona Cardinal quarterback Kyler Murray (1) outruns San Francisco 49ers cornerback Isaac Yiadom (left) in the first half at Levi Stadium in Santa Clara on Sun Oct 7, 2024 (AP News photo)

By Barbara Mason

The San Francisco 49ers (2-3) were looking in control in their game against the Arizona Cardinals (2-3) leading at the half 23-10. Two interceptions and a fumble later the 49ers found themselves on the losing end of this game 24-23.

The 49ers were unable to score the entire second half while the Cardinals scored in both the third and fourth quarters. Brock Purdy finished the game with 244 yards and 33 yards rushing but it was the two interceptions that hurt the 49ers.

Game recap: San Francisco took the early lead in the first quarter 10-7. Arizona quarterback Kyler Murray got the first score of the game, a 50 yard rush for the touchdown, the extra point was good and Arizona had a 7-0 lead.

Jake Moody who was able to play after being listed as questionable kicked a 28 yard field goal at 10:25 but the Cardinals retained the lead 7-3. As the opening quarter began to wind down Brock Purdy connected with George Kittle for four yards, the touchdown and their first lead of the game 10-7.

Arizona tied up the game early in the second quarter when Chad Ryland made a 30 yard field goal 10-10. San Francisco would score three times in the second quarter. In the later minutes of the quarter Jake Moody kicked a 20 yard field goal and the 49ers had a 13-10 lead.

At 4:59 San Francisco blocked a field goal which was recovered by Deommodore Lenoir for a 61 yard romp and the touchdown and the 49ers had extended their lead 20-10. San Francisco’s kicker Jake Moody left the game in the late second quarter after tackling an Arizona returner Deejay Dallas and suffering an ankle injury.

He was carted off to the locker room after limping off the field. As the clock ran out on the first half of football, San Francisco kicked a third field goal courtesy of punter Mitch Wishnowsky, a 26 yarder giving the 49ers a 23-10 lead going into the locker room at the half.

San Francisco was unable to score in the third quarter but the Arizona Cardinals Chad Ryland kicked his second field goal of the game a 42 yarder that was good and the Cardinals trailed by ten, 23-13.

The Cardinals really got a nice drive going in the fourth quarter driving deep into San Francisco territory with a first and goal on the San Francisco two yard line. There was a time-out called when Arizona’s Will Hernandez was hurt and helped off the field.

The Cardinals got back to work via a Kyler Murray two-yard pass to Elijah Higgins for two yards and the touchdown. The two-points conversion attempt was good and it was a two-point game 23-21. With a lot of time left on the clock, over 11 minutes left in the game, there was new life for Arizona.

The 49ers went back to work putting together a great drive via the pass and the rush driving deep into Cardinal territory for a first and goal. When it looked like the momentum was all San Francisco, running back Jordan Mason fumbled recovered by Arizona with 6:11 left on the clock.

The Cardinals got a rushing drive going looking to not only score but also burn the clock driving down to the San Francisco 23 yard line at the two-minute warning. San Francisco had allowed a monster Arizona comeback. The Cardinals were unable to score a touchdown but got closer for the kick attempt. Arizona settled for a 35 yard Chad Ryland field goal taking a 24-23 lead with 1:37 left in the game.

There was still plenty of time left on the clock for the 49ers to get within field goal range. That was when disaster struck; Arizona blitzed and Brock Purdy got the pass off but it was intercepted by Arizona and that was the ball game. When it didn’t look very good for the Cardinals in the second half, Arizona fought back to win the game by a single point 24-23.

It was a rough day for San Francisco running back Jordan Mason who finished the game with 89 yards and nine yards receiving. The 49ers receiving core of Brandon Aiyuk and George Kittle had impressive numbers. Aiyuk finished with 147 receiving yards and Kittle had 64 yards and one touchdown.

Game notes: Sunday afternoon the 49ers faced the Cardinals at Levi’s Stadium couldn’t get their third win of the season after opening the season with a win over the New York Jets followed by a couple of losses to the Vikings and the Rams.

They come into this game after a week four win over the New England Patriots to the tune of 30-13. San Francisco’s kicker Jake Moody was questionable but it was decided that he was be able to play Sunday. Christian McCaffrey who is still out is hoping for some good news over the next few weeks. He has rested for two weeks and now will now start hitting the rehab harder than previously.

The 49ers now have two weeks before they could have the option to play him. In week seven San Francisco will be taking on the Kansas City Chiefs and there is hope that McCaffrey may be ready to re-join the team.

He will be eligible but will he be ready, will it happen. His calf and achilles issues have lingered keeping him out of the entire pre-season and every regular season game since then. San Francisco has a short week taking the field in week six on Thursday Night Football taking on the Buffalo Bills and now the question is will McCaffrey remain inactive.

McCaffrey is back in practice and it has been reported that he is feeling well in those practices. Until then, Jordan Mason has taken over the majority of the snaps out of the backfield and he has been solid. He is doing a bang-up job for the Niners.

With a 2-3 record, the 49ers look ahead to their short week and a Thursday night matchup with Gino Smith and the 3-1 Seattle Seahawks. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:15 PM at Lumen Field in Seattle.

Headline Sports podcast with Jessica Kwong: Goff, Lions are the real deal; Bills Von Miller felony assault no charges have been assessed; plus more NFL news

Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff throws football into the stands after carrying for a touchdown against the Seattle Seahawks in the second half at Ford Field in Detroit on Tue Oct 1, 2024 (AP News photo)

On Headline Sports podcast with Jessica Kwong:

#1 Former Cal quarterback and Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff threw a perfect game against the Seattle Seahawks last Sunday when he went 18-18 without throwing a incomplete pass, in a 42-29 win. Goff had such a great afternoon he threw for two touchdowns and caught a touchdown pass.

#2 Buffalo Bills linebacker Von Miller has been suspended for four games without pay for violating the league’s personal conduct policy for third degree felony assault for assaulting a pregnant woman on Nov 30, 2023. Miller could face two to ten years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Miller has posted a $5,000 bond. Miller and the woman have been together for seven years. No charges have been filed against Miller. Miller said the case is closed from information received from Miller’s legal representatives.

#3 There is dissension amongst the Las Vegas Raiders head coach Pierce and wide receiver Devante Adams. Adams wants out of Las Vegas and coach Antonio Pierce had liked a social media post that talked about a possible trade with Adams. This should make for a dysfunctional group that could fracture the players if things don’t take hold internally at the Raiders as they head to Denver to play the Broncos this Sunday.

#4 Jessica lets take a look at a couple NFL games from this last Sunday. The Raiders were able to squeeze by the Cleveland Browns after holding a 20-10 lead the Browns in the fourth quarter were able to score six but ended up losing to the Raiders 20-16. The Raiders were able to score in the second and third quarters to hold on for the win.

#5 The San Francisco 49ers after losing two straight games came back last Sunday and defeated the New England Patriots. The 49ers kept the Patriots offense to a low roar the Pats scored only one touchdown and the 49ers scored two touchdowns in the second quarter. The 49ers ended up beating the Patriots 30-13 at Levi Stadium in Santa Clara.
