Los Vegas Raiders podcast with Rich Perez: Is Josh McDaniels losing the team; Question on the Raiders focus in letting games get away

Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Tyson Campbell (32) gets a hand on the football to break up an intended pass for the Las Vegas Raiders Devante Adams (17) on Sun Nov 6, 2022 in Jacksonville (AP News photo)

On the Raiders podcast with Rich:

#1 With the Las Vegas Raiders latest loss dropping them to 3-6 they’re playoff hopes looked dashed short of a miracle.

#2 One of the reasons why the Raiders playoff hopes look dimmer and dimmer is just the amount of blown plays and mistake they have made particularly in in their last two road games in New Orleans and Jacksonville.

#3 During training camp first year head coach Josh McDaniels tried to explain to his players the ways of how not to lose. It might be possible that the players forgot that early lesson McDaniels tried to lay down.

#4 The Raiders wide receiver Devante Adams said the Raiders strayed away from what worked earlier in game but the Raiders just couldn’t get any offense going in the second half and quarterback Derek Carr saying serious internal discussions needed to take place.

#5 Those serious discussions that Carr was talking about has to take place and get solved soon enough as the Raiders prepare for Indianapolis Colts for this Sunday at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. The Colts have lost three in a row the Raiders hope to push to extend that losing streak this Sunday.

Raiders Manhandled By Saints in 24-0 shutout

Raiders Manhandled By Saints 24-0

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara (41) reaches over the goal line as  Las Vegas Raiders safety Tre’von Moehrig (25) tries to put a stop on Kamara to no avail at the Superdome in New Orleans on Sun Oct 30, 2022 (AP News photo)

By Barbara Mason

Sunday afternoon the Las Vegas Raiders (2-5) traveled to the “Big Easy” to take on the New Orleans Saints (3-5). Both of these teams have struggled during the season but are playing better ball going into this game.

Las Vegas is coming off a win over the Houston Texans by a considerable margin 38-20. The Raiders lost a one point game to the Kansas City Chiefs in prior weeks so they came close in that one. They have some great offensive weapons but struggle on defense.

The atmosphere at the Superdome was well established but the Raiders will came into this game after the win last week they were hopeful that they were ready to handle the crowd noise and the Saints. It was just too much Alvin Kamara who scored three times in the Saints 24-0 victory over the Raiders.

Game recap: The first quarter was a real disappointment for the Raiders unable to move the ball at all. The Saints took an early 7-0 lead when Alvin Kamara rushed for three yards and the first touchdown of the game.

The second quarter was more of the same for Las Vegas. Their offense was stymied by the Saints defense while the New Orleans offense continued to amass yards. Will Lutz kicked a 37 Yd field goal and Kamara celebrated his second touchdown of the game, an Andy Dalton pass for 16 yards, and a 17-0 lead.

The Raiders had quite a hole to dig out of. This was the Raiders largest deficit of the season so far. A good start for the Raiders in the second half would be to get into Saints territory which they had not done in the first half.

New Orleans got the ball to start the second half and got a nice drive going straight away that the Raiders kept alive with their first pass interference penalty of the season. A few plays later Kamara had his third touchdown of the game, a pass from Dalton for 36 yards. New Orleans had now built a 24-0 lead and the Raiders were in deep trouble.

A visibly frustrated Derek Carr was sacked back to back in their first possession of the third quarter. The Raiders have a top ten offense but ran into a brick wall with the New Orleans defense.

With 3:06 left in the fourth quarter the Raiders crossed midfield for the first time in the game. That gain was nullified when Carr was sacked for the fourth time pushing Las Vegas back onto the Saints 38 yard iine. The Raiders fought to avoid a shut-out but it just didn’t happen.

They finished the game on the Saints six yard line, the final 24-0 . It was simply an ugly game offensively and defensively for the Raiders. Despite missing Michael Thomas, Jarvis Landry and Marshon Lattimore the Saints just proved to be too hot to handle.

Devonte Adams had a very disappointing game with one catch for three yards. This almost looks like a misprint but sadly this was reality. It was a tough one for Carr who finished with 15 of 26 for 101 yards, no touchdowns and one interception. The Raiders rushed for a total of 38 yards with 173 yards through the air.

The Raiders will remain back east to prepare for the Jacksonville Jaguars next Sunday. It will be a 10:00 kickoff.

Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Rich Perez: Jacobs rushes for three touchdowns as Raiders landslide Texans 38-20

Everyone of the Houston Texans defense including the Las Vegas Raiders wide receivers Hunter Renfrow (13) and Mack Hollins (10) stand in awe as Raiders running back Josh Jacobs runs past them all for a touchdown at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Sun Oct 23, 2022 (AP News photo)

On the Raiders podcast with Rich:

#1 The Las Vegas Raiders (2-4) simply buried the Houston Texans (1-4-1) with some solid offense in the fourth quarter scoring three touchdowns.

#2 The Raiders got that touchdown help from running back Josh Jacobs who scored three touchdowns quite an accomplishment for one player.

#3 Jacobs rushed for 143 yards and scored all of his three touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

#4 Raiders quarterback Derek Carr threw for 21-27, 241 yards, and one touchdown he was able to get a good ground game going with Jacobs help.

#5 The latest news on Raider wide receiver Davante Adams is the NFL will not access any discipline on the wide out until the legal process is played out after Adams shoved freelance photographer Ryan Zelbey who is claiming injuries and has retained legal representation against Adams.

#6 The Raiders will look for their third win on Sunday as they head to New Orleans to face quarterback Andy Dalton and the Saints (2-4). Rich what’s your prediction for this contest?

On the NFL Playoffs podcast with Barabara:

#1 The Los Angeles Rams got into Green Bay on Saturday and played in 30 plus degree weather at the Frozen Tundra at Lambeau Field how much of a difference did that make in their game which turned out to be a 32-18 loss.

#2 The Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens played a relatively low scoring game by playoff standards and the Bills came away the winner 17-3 and are headed to the AFC Championship. The Bills quarterback Josh Allen threw for 206 yards and a touchdown he’s been having a terrific post season.

#3 The Kansas City Chiefs defense kept the pressure up on the Cleveland Browns as the Browns could only muster a field goal in the first quarter and a touchdown in each of the third and fourth quarters. Meanwhile Chiefs quarterback Pat Mahomes threw for 255 yards and one touchdown for the 22-17 win.

#4 It looked like the Saints might have made things interesting to start their game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers scoring six in the first quarter and seven in the second quarter but the Bucs in the second quarter came back and scored 13, seven in the second and ten in the third to get a ten point win over the Saints 30-20. The Bucs quarterback Tom Brady threw for 199 yards and two touchdowns. Could the Bucs be on the road to the Super Bowl?

Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Barbara Mason: Loss snaps Raiders three game win streak; Vegas set for a reboot head to Atlanta Sunday

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr (4) just before the game against the Kansas City Chiefs at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise NV on Sun Nov 22, 2020 (AP News photo)

On the Raiders podcast with Barbara:

#1 Barbara the Raiders (6-4) just missed getting their fourth straight win against the Kansas City Chiefs (9-1) in a game that was just out of reach 35-31.

#2 The Raiders who hung with one of the best teams in the NFL right down to the final quarter of the game where each team scored 14 points but the Raiders needed a little more but time just ran out.

#3 Once again those second and third quarters were critical on both sides of the ball. The Raiders held the Chiefs just to seven points in each of those quarters but couldn’t produce any offense in the third quarter which turned out to be critical in the end.

#4 For Raiders quarterback Derek Carr an explosive afternoon of throwing against the Chiefs defense accomplishing 275 yards, three touchdowns, and was intercepted once.

#5 So it’s back to the drawing board for Las Vegas as their heading to Atlanta for a 1:00pm kickoff. The Falcons have been playing .500 ball they lost to New Orleans Sunday 24-9 and beat the Broncos the week before 34-27. Barbara talk about how you see the Raiders faring in Atlanta on Sunday?
