1.The Kings suffered their 12th loss in a row-their worst stretch this season losing to the Cleveland Cavaliers 132-126.

SACRAMENTO–The Kings took on the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday night as Dennis Schroder and Keon Ellis made their returns to Golden 1 Center. The Kings were unable to defeat the Cavs in James Harden’s debut game as they fell 132-126, and their losing streak extended to 12 games.
In the first quarter, the Kings’ young guys propelled the Kings to an early lead over the Cavs. Daeqwon Plowden and Nique Clifford led the scoring from the Kings’ young guys as they took the lead 31-25 at the end of the first frame. Plowden and Clifford combined for 16 first-quarter points, while Russell Westbrook added eight points of his own in the first quarter. The Kings led in second-chance points 12-4 and rebounds 15-10 to start the game.
In the second quarter, the Cavs took advantage of a struggling Kings offense to get themselves back in the game and ultimately take the lead going into halftime. The Cavs outscored the Kings 32-24 to take the 57-55 lead into halftime. Jarrett Allen led the Cavs in the first half against the Kings with 17 points, as Nique Clifford and Russell Westbrook paced the Kings with 14 and 13 points, respectively. The Cavs’ three-point shooting suffered in the first half as they shot 27% from behind the line, while the Kings were solid at 46%.
In the third quarter, the Kings made their move on the Cavs coming out of halftime. The Kings outscored the Cavs 41-36 in the third quarter to take the 96-93 lead into the final quarter of the game in hopes of closing things out. Nique Clifford led the way for the Kings, adding eight points to lead the comeback, and Maxime Raynaud contributed eight points.
In the fourth quarter, the Kings and the young guys put on a show in an attempt to snap the losing streak. Yet, even as Nique Clifford added another seven points in the fourth, the Kings were ultimately outscored 39-30 as they fell to the Cavs 132-126 on Saturday night. Donovan Mitchell and James Harden carried the Cavs to victory late as the duo put up 17 and 15 points, respectively, in the fourth quarter alone. Donovan Mitchell led the Cavs in scoring with 35 points in the victory. On the Kings’ side, Nique Clifford led the Kings with 30 points in defeat, which was a new career high for the rookie.
After the game, the Kings rookie spoke with the media, speaking on his new career high during the loss.
“I got some good looks tonight,” Clifford said after the game. “My teammates were finding me in good positions to score the ball and the shots were falling tonight. So it was a good individual performance, but I’m not a stat guy. I really don’t care unless we get the win. So it was cool, but not the result we wanted.”
The losses are clearly getting to the Kings, but they have remained optimistic and upbeat even while enduring a Sacramento-era record-tying 12-game losing streak.
There’s more pain to come for Sacramento. Yet, the initial group of young players that will be around for the rebuild is appearing to take shape. If the Kings can continue to develop guys like Nique Clifford, Dylan Cardwell, Maxime Raynaud, and Devin Carter, they might begin to build a foundation that can be paired with a top draft pick.
The Kings will head on the road to take on the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday at 5 p.m. PST.

SACRAMENTO–Losers of 10 straight games coming into Friday, the Sacramento Kings played host to the Los Angeles Clippers at 7 p.m. PST. The Kings fell to the Clippers 114-111 on Saturday night.
In the first quarter, neither team’s starters did much to begin the game. The Kings and Clippers were tied at 14 with just over three minutes left to go in the quarter before the Kings bench lit the spark to go on a run to end the quarter. Malik Monk came in and scored nine points in the quarter to lead the bench unit to outscoring the Clippers bench 15-5. With the help of the bench, the Kings outscored the Clippers 27-17 to take the early lead in the game. The Clippers didn’t take very good care of the ball in the first quarter as they committed six turnovers that led to seven Kings points.
In the second quarter, the Clippers got back the deficit they lost in the first quarter. The Clippers’ offense picked up its production in the second quarter as they outscored the Kings 31-22. However, the Kings maintained the 49-48 lead going into halftime. John Collins led the resurgence for the Clippers with eight points for the club in the second quarter alone, as Kawhi Leonard added six for LA. Dylan Cardwell led the scoring in the second quarter for the Kings as he finished the frame with six points.
In the third quarter, the Kings and Clippers mainly traded baskets as the Clippers outscored the Kings again, this time 31-28, to head to the fourth quarter leading 79-77. Neither team had seized control of the game up until this point, and it was anyone’s for the taking in the fourth quarter. The Kings’ leading scorer through the first three quarters of action was Malik Monk with 15 points. Kawhi Leonard paced the Clippers through three with 24 points.
In the fourth quarter, the Kings ran out of steam against the Clippers. Led by Kawhi Leonard’s seven points in the quarter, the Clippers outscored the Kings 35-34 to defeat Sacramento 114-111. Leonard led all scorers in the game with 31 points in the contest as the Clippers improved to 24-27 on the season. Dylan Cardwell led the way for the Kings with 14 points and 14 rebounds in the losing effort as the Kings lost their 11th straight to fall to 12-41 on the year. Malik Monk and Nique Clifford added the best scoring efforts for the Kings in the game as they scored 18 and 16 points, respectively, for the Kings.
After the game, Doug Christie spoke on the growing pains of playing young guys as a team out of playoff contention.
“Yeah, times like this get tough. You can look back at all the different things, and there’ve been a lot of them, but we don’t — I don’t come in and make excuses,” Doug said after the game. “… We begin to grow, and that’s what we want to do in the last 31. We want to make sure that we are growing and building a swell and the momentum that takes us into the offseason.”
The Kings will take on the Cleveland Cavaliers and host the return of Keon Ellis since his trade away from the Kings on Saturday at 7 p.m. PST inside Golden 1 Center.

#1 Memphis Grizzlies Cam Spencer scored three big baskets in the fourth quarter in the last few minutes of the game and finished with 20 points. The Grizzlies Ty Jerome scored 28 points Wednesday night and the loss was a season worse for the Sacramento Kings who have now lost ten in row.
#2 With 2:08 remaining in the game Spencer hit a three point shot that put the Grizzlies on top with a 122-118 lead. GG Jackson also hit a jumper and added a 16 foot jumper with 43 seconds left to give the Grizzlies a four point lead. It was a tough loss for the Kings as this one slipped away with just seconds left.
#3 The Kings Domantas Sabonis scored 20 points out of his 24 points and grabbed 15 rebounds. The last time the Kings won a game was back on Jan 16th against the Washington Wizards that week the Kings had a four game win streak going.

SACRAMENTO–Amidst the numerous rumors of trades and roster turnover, the Kings welcomed the Memphis Grizzlies to town on Wednesday night at the Golden 1 Center.
In the first quarter, the Kings started the game off strong with a solid presence under the basket. The Kings led in the paint, outscoring the Grizzlies 18-12, as Domantas Sabonis got off to a hot start with eight points and five boards in the opening quarter. Other than that, it was a relatively even quarter of play, with the Kings outscoring the Grizzlies 31-28 in the opening act.
In the second quarter, it was more of the same from both teams as they remained neck and neck leading into halftime. Domantas Sabonis led the Kings and all scorers in the first half as he dropped 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Twelve of the 20 points Domas scored in the first half came in the second quarter. The Grizzlies outscored the Kings 30-26 in the second quarter to take a 59-57 lead into the break. The points-in-the-paint disparity became even more apparent in the second quarter, as the Kings outdid the Grizzlies 20-10 in that category in the frame.
In the third quarter, it looked early on that the Kings were going to go down big to the Grizzlies coming out of the break. In fact, the Kings trailed by eight points early in the third as the Grizzlies were putting it together out of the half. Yet, the Kings were able to step up and bring the game back, taking a two-point, 91-89 lead into the fourth quarter. The Kings outscored the Grizzlies 34-31 in the third while trying to carry their momentum into the final 12 minutes.
In the fourth quarter, the Kings struggled to keep up with the Grizzlies, but they managed to keep the game within striking distance throughout the quarter. The Kings trailed by what felt like 3-5 points most of the quarter and were down 124-122 with just over a minute to go. However, the Grizzlies hit some tough late-game shots to defeat the Kings 129-125.
With the loss, the Kings’ losing streak reached 10 games, and they dropped their fourth straight home game.
It’s clear the Kings are transitioning from the veterans to the young players in the rotation, something that is new to Nique Clifford, but he is embracing the situation.
“It’s something I’ve never been through, so it’s been a little different for me than college,” Nique Clifford said after the game. “You don’t have guys getting moved from team to team, and it is a different experience, but I feel like as a professional, you approach every day trying to get better, trying to get better individually, and then as a team coming together trying to figure out what we can do to put out a good product on the court.”
The product hasn’t been good for the Kings, and they will take on the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday at 7 p.m. PST at the Golden 1 Center, looking to snap their 10-game skid.

1.The Kings are on a disastrous course losing nine games in a row and Sunday they were looking to break this streak when they took on the Washington Wizards another struggling team with much the same record as Sacramento.
2.Not much was going right for the Kings in Sunday’s game but they got a chance to turn it around with two great performances from Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan.
3.The Kings had a slow start in the game which set them behind the eight ball from the get go and they got next to nothing from the bench plus the absence of Domantas Sabonis and Russell Westbrook did not help either.

When it appears it could not get any worse for the Sacramento Kings (12-39) it did. They lost their ninth game in a row to the struggling Washington Wizards (13-35) 116-112. Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozen each had a great game, LaVine finishing with 35 points and DeRozan with 32. That was about all that was going right for the Kings in this game. The Wizards beat them in the paint barely pulling this game out.
After losing nine games in a row, the Kings took on another struggling team in the Wizards Sunday afternoon with only one thing on their mind; break this horrible losing streak. The Kings have been playing some of the best teams in the NBA and this game the Kings should have taken the opportunity to turn things around.
Sabonis was out with a lower back soreness and Russell Westbrook also remains out with a right foot contusion, his third game in a row.
The newly acquired Trae Young was not available to play for the Wizards his new team out with a right MCL sprain delaying his debut until mid-February. Young is currently going through rehabilitation and being re-evaluated. A return date is probably after the All-Star break.
Game report: The opening quarters was an absolute disaster for the Kings being outscored by the Wizards 23-14. The second quarter began on a sour note as well with Washington leading by as much as 17 points.
Where was the Sacramento offense? The tide began to change late in the quarter when the Kings cut the Wizards double digit lead to single digits. Sacramento picked away and at 2:17 Washington was clinging to a four point lead 46-42. Going into the half the Wizards had a five point lead 53-48. Sacramento had outscored the Wizards 34-30 as the Kings offense came to life.
Zach LaVine had the team high at the half scoring 22 points and four rebounds. The rest of the offense was quiet with DeMar DeRozan finishing the half with four points. The Kings would need a lot more from some of their starters and their bench in the second half of play. The Kings really came around as the second quarter wound down and they would need more of the same in the second half.
Zach LaVine continued to carry the team in the third quarter while DeMar DeRozan and Maxime Raynaud started to heat up. With two minutes left in the quarter, it was a 2-point game 79-77 in favor of the Wizards.
When Sacramento got close to taking the lead, they allowed an AJ Johnson three followed by a turnover which resulted in a Jamir Watkins dunk pushing the Wizards lead out to 86-78 After three quarters the Wizards continued to lead 88-82.
Sacramento needed a fourth quarter push in the worst way but it was not to be. Every time the Kings got close, the Wizards pushed back and Sacramento had so far been unable to stop them. Again the Kings got within two points and at long last Sacramento tied up the game at 95 with 9:09 left in the game.
The King’s surge prompted a Washington time-out. This game went right down to the wire. With 30 seconds left on the clock the Wizards had a three-point lead that they were able to hang onto. The win for the Wizards is their third out of their last four games and the Kings had now strung out nine losses in a row.
While LaVine and DeRozan both had great games they did not get a lot of support from the rest of the team. The bench was not good and the team sure did miss Sabonis and Westbrook in this game. It was an awful start for Sacramento and they faltered in the final minutes of the fourth quarters.
The Kings now return home to Golden 1 Arena in Sacramento for a game Wednesday night taking on another struggling team in the Memphis Grizzlies. Sacramento continues to search for an end to this drought which they will hopefully realize Wednesday night.

The Sacramento Kings (12-38) have struggled all season trying to handle an extremely difficult game schedule, constant injury and this recent road trip was more of the same. Games against some of the best teams in the NBA, and Friday night’s matchup with the Boston Celtics (30-18) was no different.
Boston built an instant 15-point lead in the opening quarter and by the third quarter had close to a thirty point lead. The final was 112-93. The Kings did cut the 31 point lead to 19 points when all was said and done but the Celtics prevailed all evening. The high for the Kings was Zach LaVine who scored 17 points and Maxime Raynaud had a double double, 14 points and 14 rebounds. Raynaud had a terrific effort.
After getting edged Thursday night by the Philadelphia Sixers 113-111 the Kings traveled to Boston for a matchup with the Celtics Friday night. The Celtics remain in a second place tie with the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference.
Friday night Zach LaVine started and Malik Monk was back on the floor as Keegan Murray remains out with an ankle injury. Domantas Sabonis will be out and Russell Westbrook remains out with a foot injury.
The Celtics were short-handed due to an injury to two of their outstanding starters. Jalen Brown is out until February 1st with a hamstring injury and Jayson Tatum has a serious achilles injury keeping him sidelined until April.
Despite these losses the Celtics remain a huge threat and the struggling Kings couldn’t get the maximum effort from the starters to the bench to avoid their eighth loss in a row.
Sacramento got off to an awful start in this game. As the first quarter came to an end the Celtics had a 40-25 lead. The King had dug themselves into a deep hole that just got deeper as the second quarter concluded.
Boston had outscored the Kings 32-21 in the quarter and led at the half 72-46. Despite being without Jayson Tatum the entire season and Jalen Brown missing their last game Boston had built a huge lead in the first two quarters of the game.
Where were the starters in the first half of this game for Sacramento. LaVine finished the half with 13 points while the rest of the starters collectively scored ten points. The bench was slow to get started with Monk the high with eight points.
The Kings had a whole lot of work to do in the second half. The Celtics Payton Pritchard had it all going on with some great support from Baylor Scheierman and Neemias Queta. Boston had simply outplayed the Kings at every turn in the first half.
It was more of the same for the Kings in the third quarter as the Celtics continued to build on their lead with Boston closing in on a 30 point lead. The offensive effort from Sacramento remained stagnant as the quarter wore on. They never really got started and never recovered. The Kings outscored the Celtics in the third 20-17 but those three points made little difference in the 89-66 Boston lead.
The Kings cut the Celtics lead by a bit in the fourth quarter. The highest Boston lead in the game had been 31 points but Sacramento had cut it to 21 points.with 8:29 left in the game. That was about as much headway as the Kings were able to make. With under three minutes left on the clock and a 21-point lead this game was all but done. Sacramento had lost their eighth game in a row.
LaVine had the high for Sacramento with 17 points and off the bench Nique Clifford finished with 15 points. Raynaud had a double double with 14 points and 14 rebounds. The Kings did outscore the Celtics in the fourth quarter 27-23.
Sunday afternoon the Kings take on the Washington Wizards another struggling team. Both teams have similar records with Sacramento looking to put an end to an eight game losing streak. Tipoff for this game is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
