On That’s Amaury’s:

#1 The San Francisco 49ers on the last day of the season needed to defeat the Los Angeles Rams in a game that could not have been scripted any better. Winning on a field goal in the fourth quarter 27-24 and now advance to the NFC Playoffs for this Sun Jan 16th in Arlington against the Dallas Cowboys.

#2 The Las Vegas Raiders were another team that just got into post season battling it out with the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday Night Football. With the game all tied 32-32 in overtime and no time left the Raiders kicker Daniel Carlson booted a 47 yard field goal that got the Raiders into post season 35-32 in a game that was almost scripted for a Hollywood movie. The Raiders had their share of tragedies this season but bounced back winning their last four games to get into post season.

#3 Amaury, why aren’t the owners and players talking in MLB from the sound of it spring training in February and March could be put on hold until something is agreed upon. Feb 26th is the first spring training game and it looks in question.

#4 The St Louis Cardinals announced they have canceled their annual winter warmup Bill Dewitt III the Cardinals team president said unfortunately due to the current circumstances of the lockout the planning of the winter warm up has been canceled. This was an opportunity to allow fans to interface with Cards players. Baseball is huge in St Louis so you can imagine many Cardinal fans will be disappointed.

#5 In the MLB Baseball Hall of Fame voting Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens it was reported on ESPN will not get enough votes to make the Hall of Fame and former Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling who was 16 votes short last year will be much shorter last year due to that dark cloud of steroid use.

Raiders Carlson does it again boots Vegas into post season defeat Chargers 35-32 in OT

Los Angeles Chargers free safety Derwin James Jr (33) puts pressure on the Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr (4) as he gets a pass away at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Sun Jan 9, 2022 in the final regular season game of 2021-22 (AP News photo)

Las Vegas Raiders kicker Daniel Carlson booted a 47 yard field goal right as time ran out in overtime against the Los Angeles Chargers at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas to help defeat the Chargers 35-32. It was the fourth consecutive win for the Raiders and the fourth straight game the Raiders won by three or less points.

This one really counted big as the win puts the Raiders into the post season the Raiders needed to win this final game of the regular season to advance to post season. The win eliminates the Chargers and helps the Pittsburgh Steelers advance to post season as well.

The Raiders who were down at one time in the game 17-0 came back on Los Angeles converting scores on fourth down ending up overtaking the Chargers 29-22. The Chargers made a last few seconds of the fourth quarter come back of their own when quarterback Justin Herbert threw a 12 yard pass to receiver Mike Williams to tie up the game 29-29 and force it into overtime.

The Raiders and Chargers proceeded to hit field goals to make it stay knotted up at 32-32. Carlson came in and got field position in the closing seconds of overtime to hit a 47 yarder and put the Raiders in the post season with the 35-32 win. Ironically Carlson was this week’s AFC Special Teams Player of the Week.

Raiders quarterback Derek Carr went 20-36 for 186 yards, and two touchdowns. The Raiders got help from their wide receiver Hunter Renfrow who caught two touchdown passes and running back Josh Jacobs carried 26 times and picked up 132 yards and a touchdown.

The Raiders prior to winning these last four in a row had lost five out of six previous to that run. The Raiders had dealt with plenty of adversity, having their former coach Jon Gruden forced to resign over racist and misogynistic emails, then wide receiver Henry Ruggs III DUI manslaughter charge in killing Tina Tintor in a drunken driving charge slamming into Tintor’s car killing her and her dog, then Damon Arnette who was released from the team for taking a video of himself carrying a automatic weapon with a scope and making threats to kill a fan on social media. In spite of all of these off field distractions the Raiders persevered and weathered the storm to make the post season.

Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Tony Renteria: Could it happen? Raiders one game away from making post season

Raiders kicker Daniel Carlson boots the game winning field goal in the closing seconds against the Indianapolis Colts on Sun Jan 2, 2022 at Lucas Oil Field in Indianapolis. Carlson was elected as the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week (Sports Illustrated photo)

On the Las Vegas Raiders podcast:

#1 Tony, It’s going to be razer close but the Las Vegas Raiders (9-7) who are on a three game win streak have worked hard enough to be one win away from making the post season as they host the Los Angeles Chargers (9-7) on Sunday Night Football.

#2 The Raiders have three close games to win games like that take a lot of breaks and and come backs how much do you attribute that to the offense of defense.

#3 Raiders kicker Daniel Carlson wins the AFC Special Teams player of the week award. Carlson who booted a winning kick against the Indianapolis Colts last Sun Jan 2 for a 23-20 win in the closing seconds. Carlson was key in wins against the Cleveland Browns and the Denver Broncos in the two previous weeks. Without him they don’t get this far.

#4 Tony, Raiders quarterback Derek Carr had to find daylight and get help from his running back but was intercepted twice. Josh Jacobs who carried for a touchdown. Carr was 24 for 31 for 255 yards, one touchdown. It all counted in the close game against the Colts how much has Carr meant under center in a game like that.

#5 The Chargers have been .500 ball winning five of their last five, they handled the Denver Broncos in their last game with a 34-13 win. Broncos quarterback started again as starter Teddy Bridgewater is not likely to return any time soon after put on concussion protocols. Broncos back up quarterback Drew Lock started against the Chargers and couldn’t do anything against the Chargers defense. Tony how do you see this match up at Allegiant Stadium between the Chargers and Raiders on Sunday Night Football.

In a game that went right down to the wire the Las Vegas Raiders (9-7) when Raiders kicker Daniel Carlson exhibited closing seconds heroics once again when he booted a 33 yard field goal with the score tied at 20-20 at Lucas Oil Field in Indianapolis to defeat the Colts (9-7) on Sunday afternoon.

The Raider had a touchdown that was called back on a TV replay reversal and lost a touchdown on an unfortunate play which were the only two turnovers of the game. For quarterback Derek Carr went 24-31 for 255 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

The Raiders who won the game by three also took a three point half time lead at the half 13-10. It was Carr towards the end of the game that got Carlson good field position to boot the game winning field goal a win that takes the Raiders one step closer to getting into the post season.

With the win over the Colts on Sunday the Raiders picked up their third straight win, the Raiders have won games by three or less points during the three game streak with a win over the Cleveland Browns 16-14 on Mon Dec 20, a 17-13 win against the Denver Broncos on Sun Dec 26, and Sunday’s thriller in Indianapolis 23-20.

Carr was saying the Raiders are finding ways to rally and make late comebacks. Although the Raiders when facing the Browns, Broncos and Colts made those close comebacks it’s the coming back from behind the making of a good football team, “We’re finding a way to do it because we have the right kind of guys and there’s never been a doubt, there’s never a finger pointed, you know, at this or that, and this coach is not there, and all this kind nobody cares.” Carr told the AP.

The Raiders host the Los Angeles Chargers (9-7) next Sun Jan 9th a 1:25 pm PST kick off for the last regular season game. The Chargers who have won five of their last nine games blew out the Broncos Sunday 34-13 at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr (4) on a give to running back Josh Jacobs (28) in the second half of action at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Sun Dec 26, 2021 (AP News photo)

The Las Vegas Raiders (8-7) were down by six points when running back Josh Jacobs approached the coaches at the half against the Denver Broncos (7-8) up 13-7 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Jacobs asked them to give him the ball that he will not let the rock get away from him like he did in the first half fumbling the ball away for a turnover.

Jacobs was granted a second chance he made up for the lost football in the first quarter and he took it to the Broncos on seven carries running for 57 yards on the opening series of the second half.

After nine plays and 75 yards of offensive effort the Raiders hit pay dirt scoring as running back Peyton Barber carried for five yards that gave the Raiders a third quarter touchdown that put them ahead 14-13.

Jacobs carried for 129 yards to help beat the Broncos and the win help keep the Raiders post season hopes alive as they move a game over .500. The Broncos now have lost three of their last four games and this puts their playoff hopes in jeopardy.

The Raiders win helped the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East through tiebreakers. The Raiders victory Sunday marks their second straight game. They also had another cliffhanger edging the Cleveland Browns on Sun Dec 19th 16-14. In three of their last four games the Raiders have held their opponents to just 17 or less points.

On Jacobs getting the ball he was gratetful for that second chance to help the Raiders punch it through for that third quarter touchdown, “Just give me a chance to play the style of ball that I want to play. The offensive line, we all came to an agreement and went out there and did it and executed.” said Jacobs. For Jacobs this was his first time rushing for 100 yards in a single game.

The Raiders play their next to last game of the season against the Indianapolis Colts (9-6) this coming Sun Jan 2, 2021 in Indianapolis 10:00AM PST. The Colts have won six of their last seven games. They had a huge win over the Arizona Cardinals (10-5) Sunday in Arizona 22-16.

Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Rich Perez: Can Raiders beat Broncos as Denver starts it’s back up quarterback Lock

Las Vegas Raiders head coach Rich Bisaccia has a reaction to a play in the second half against the Cleveland Browns on Mon Dec 20, 2021 at First Energy Stadium in Cleveland (AP News photo)

On the Raiders podcast with Rich Perez:

#1 The Las Vegas (7-7) have signed defensive back Tony Brown to the practice sound and have released tight end Matt Bushman from the same practice squad.

#2 Rich, the defensive backs were lacking so the Raiders signed Brown to the practice squad, the way things are going how long do you see Brown leaving the practice squad and getting on the team.

#3 The Raiders have had a lot of injuries all season and after last week’s game in Cleveland things are getting tougher after losing safety Jonathan Abram who will need surgery and with lack a of defensive backs against the Denver Broncos (7-7). The Raiders could be seeing lots of passing and carrying by the Broncos led by quarterback Drew Lock.

#4 Cornerbacks Nate Hobbs and Brandon Facyson, safety Roderick Teamer all on the Covid 19/reserve list what does it mean to have these players missing.

#5 The Raiders host the Broncos this Sunday at Allegiant Stadium for 1:25 pm PST kick off. The Broncos have won four out of the last seven games and defeated the Raiders 34-24 on Oct 17 their last meeting who do you like this game coming up.

On the Raiders podcast with Tony R:

#1 Tony, got to ask you about how thrilling that had to be for Las Vegas Raiders kicker Daniel Carlson who booted a 48 yarder for the winning field goal to defeat the Cleveland Browns by three points 16-14.

#2 Tony, the Browns were without almost half of their team on Sunday, they also were missing quarterback Baker Mayfield and back up Case Keenum due to Covid 19 protocols the Raiders just got by but that might light a fire under them going forward as they keep their playoff hopes alive.

#3 Raiders head coach Rich Bisaccia said after Sunday’s game that even though the game looked like it was going to go the other way “well done by our players.”

#4 The win was the Raiders first game since they defeated the Dallas Cowboys 36-33 on Thanksgiving day followed by two straight loses to the Washington Football Team and the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs was a crushing loss and the Raiders really muscled up to squeak by the Browns last Sunday.

It was close Raiders pull it off against Browns 16-14 in Cleveland; Carlson boots game winner

With time running on the clock in the fourth quarter Las Vegas Raider kicker Daniel Carlson got the game winning boot against the Cleveland Browns defense at FirstEnergy Field in Cleveland on Mon Dec 20, 2021 (AP News photo)

By Rich Perez

The Las Vegas Raiders (7-7) just squeaked by the Cleveland Browns (7-7) 16-14 at FirstEnergy Stadium. The Raiders in a must win situation against just got by in the fourth quarter thanks to kicker Daniel Carlson who kicked a 48 yard field goal.

The win helped the Raiders snap a two game losing streak and kept Las Vegas’ playoffs hope alive. The Raiders earlier in the game fell a point behind 14-13 when Browns third string quarterback Nick Mullens threw for a six yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Harrison Bryant with just under four minutes left at 3:45 in the game.

Mullens got the call in his first appearance all season after starter Baker Mayfield and second stringer Case Keenum both tested positive for Covid 19 along with eight other teammates. The lack of help helped the Raiders just get by the Browns in the latter stages of the game.

This game was originally scheduled for Saturday but got the Monday afternoon 3 PM PST or 6PM EST start after the Browns were in Covid protocols. With just 2:47 left in the game Raiders quarterback Derek Carr threw a pass intended for wide receiver Zay Jones that was intercepted by Browns cornerback Greedy Williams which the Browns and their fans figured they Browns would wind the clock down and hand the Raiders another L.

It was not to be for the Browns, Browns running back Nick Chubb couldn’t get much daylight against the Raiders defense. Chubb took three carries against the Raiders defense only to be held to seven yards.

With 1:50 left in the game the Raiders got another chance and the ball back and Carr under center wanted Las Vegas to get into good field position to come back and score. After Browns kicker Dustin Colquitt punted the Raiders got the ball on their own 30 and Carr went to work.

Carr threw three yard pass to Foster Moreau, then Jones for 12 yards, Raider running back Josh Jacobs carried for nine yards, Moreau caught a 12 yard pass and got the ball to the 30 yard line in the Browns zone.

The Thanksgiving Day hero Carlson would get another chance to boot another game winner. Carlson hit a game winning field goal to hand the Raiders a 36-33 win on Thanksgiving day. Fast forward to Monday and Carlson lined it up and hit the ball for a 48 yarder to get the Raiders a two point win. Carlson has now booted 31 successful field goals out of 34 attempts.

The next game for the Raiders, they will host the Denver Broncos Sun Dec 26th at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas at 1:25 pm PST. The Broncos lost a tough one to the Cincinnati Bengals last Sunday 15-10. Broncos quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was relieved by back up Drew Lock after receiving a concussion. Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Rich Perez: Chiefs showed Raiders what happens when you disrespect them in their own house; Browns have 14 players out for Monday

The Kansas City Chiefs logo at the 50 yard that the Raiders stomped on before last Sun Dec 12, 2021 game at Arrowhead Stadium according to social media (AP News photo)

On the Raiders podcast with Rich:

#1 Rich, the Raiders stomping on the Kansas City Chiefs logo at midfield is one of those unwritten football codes you just don’t do and the payback for it was unforgettable last Sunday to the tune of a 48-9 loss at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.

#2 Before kickoff the Raiders moved their huddle from the 25 yard line to midfield right on top of the Chiefs logo at the 50 yard line. It was reported that most of the Raider players had no idea that the pre game huddle was a way to show disrespect to their hosts.

#3 Chiefs running back Mike Hughes said he had no idea what it was about until after the game and the social media chatter and said it was pretty disrespectful.

#4 The Chiefs made the Raiders pay dearly for it not letting up all and game long. The was the biggest landslide win or loss for the Raiders and Chiefs in their 62 year history and it was mostly built on payback.

#5 Rich, the Raiders are in Cleveland this Monday at 2:00 PM PST to face the Browns (7-6) the Browns in their last game just narrowly got by the Baltimore Ravens (8-5) 24-22 in Cleveland. Cleveland also has 14 players and coaches out for Covid 19 protocols for this Sunday’s game.
