#1 The Athletics selling out season tickets at Sutter Health Park in Sacramento does that signal that this relocation by the A’s was a successful idea or this is just a honeymoon in Sacramento and the A’s will eventually struggle in the standing like they had in past seasons?

#2 According to AI the most popular MLB Hispanic player of all time is former Pittsburgh Pirate Roberto Clemente who began his career in 1955 and in his second year in 1956 hit .311. After 1956 he hit above .300 in seven different seasons. He was defined as a pure hitter who drove in runs as well as being able to scores runs as well.

#3 According insiders three MLB teams were taken off Japanese pitcher Roki Sasaki’s desired list the New York Yankees and Mets and the Texas Rangers. Sources are saying that Sasaki is down to three clubs the Toronto Blue Jays, the Los Angeles Dodgers, or the San Diego Padres. The San Francisco Giants have backed out of pursuing Sasaki. Sasaki is under 25 years old and is classified as a amateur and his salary will be limited from $5.1 million to $7.5 million per year. He will be regarded as a rookie phenom and could conger up endorsements that could add more to his finances depending how he performs in his MLB debut.

#4 Sasaki is another big signing possibility that has passed up the Giants. The Giants over the last two seasons missed signing in 2024 the likes of Bryce Harper, Aaron Judge, and Shohei Ohtani. For 2025 the Giants so far have missed out on the following free agent signings Juan Soto, Ha Seong Kim, and Corbin Burnes. They managed to sign Willy Adames and Justin Verlander. The Giants last Thursday avoided going to arbitration with LaMonte Wade Jr, and relivers Camilo Doval and Tyler Rogers. Are there a number of big name free agents avoiding San Francisco for specific reasons based on how the team has been a revolving door for managers, general managers, and team president changes and how CEO Larry Baer and team managing partner Greg Johnson who have final say have not been able to sign high profile players?

#5 The Seattle Mariners agreed to a one year deal with infielder Donovan Solano for $3.5 million. Also Solano could earn up to $1 million for plate appearances that ramp up to $200,00 for at bats totaling 300, 350, 400, 450, and 500. Solano hit .286, eight home runs, and 35 RBIs in 96 games with the San Diego Padres.

#1 How much of an impact for the Atlanta Braves losing Ronald Acuna Jr for the rest of the season after running between second and third base and blew out his ACL taking a bad turn on the base pathes.

#2 Umpire Angel Hernandez who was accused of blowing calls in the ALDS which resulted in his not being selected to umpire in the World Series and lost a racial bias suit has retired from ever umpiring an MLB game again. His retirement is effect today. Hernandez was the center of the ire from the players and fans on social media. Hernandez said this was all stemmed from racial bias. Hernandez umpired in the Majors since 1991.

#3 Los Angeles Dodgers two way player Shohei Ohtani is not giving up on the possibility of pitching again. Ohtani was put on the shelf from pitching and left with the hitting duties as designated hitter. Ohtani is recovery from his second Tommy John surgery. Ohtani threw from 60 feet on Monday at Citi Field tracking at 80 MPH. Ohtani was said to possibly to return to pitching in August.

#4 Former Milwaukee Brewers manager Craig Counsell was unceremoniously booed upon his return at American Family Field as manager of the Chicago Cubs on Monday. Counsell took the booing in stride saying, “The fans are here to enjoy the day, enjoy a baseball game,” Counsell said “They get to do what they want. Hopefully they had a good time.” The Cubs lost to the Brewers 5-1.

#5 The San Francisco Giants LaMonte Wade Jr who returned to the line up after being on the IL. Wade reinjured himself on a hard slide on a double and ended up straining his hamstring. The Giants said that Wade is on the way back to the IL.

Fitzgerald gets first MLB RBI in Giants’ 7-2 loss to Dodgers

The San Francisco Giants began a four-game series with their biggest rival, the Los Angeles Dodgers, on Thursday night. The Giants lost a 7-2 heartbreaker to the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium.

John Brebbia (3-1, 3.41 ERA) took the loss for the Giants. San Francisco fell to 76-77, while Los Angeles improved to 94-58.

The Giants’ starting lineup featured LaMonte Wade Jr., Wilmer Flores, Joc Pederson, Michael Conforto, Thairo Estrada, Mike Yastrzemski, Marco Luciano, Blake Sabol, Tyler Fitzgerald, and Kyle Harrison. Harrison pitched for 5 1/3 innings and gave up three hits, two earned runs, one walk, two strikeouts, and one home run.

After two scoreless innings, Los Angeles got on the board first. Enrique Hernandez was out on a sacrifice fly to Mike Yastrzemski. Chris Taylor scored for a 1-0 Dodgers lead in the bottom of the third inning with two outs.

The Dodgers doubled their lead in the bottom of the fourth inning. J.D. Martinez homered on a fly ball to right field for a 2-0 lead.

The Giants finally got on the board in the top of the fifth inning. Tyler Fitzgerald walked, and Mike Yastrzemski scored to cut the Dodgers’ lead to 2-1. Marco Luciano went to third base, while Blake Sabol went to second base.

The Giants tied the ballgame in the top of the sixth inning. Joc Pederson homered on a fly ball to center field to even the score 2-2.

The Dodgers regained their lead in the bottom of the sixth inning. J.D. Martinez was out on a sacrifice fly to Mike Yastrzemski. Will Smith scored for a 3-2 lead with two outs.

Fast forward to the bottom of the seventh inning as the Dodgers extended their lead, thanks to a wild pitch by Luke Jackson. Chris Taylor scored first for a 4-2 lead. James Outman went to third base. Outman later scored to make it 5-2.

The Dodgers expanded their lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. J.D. Martinez singled on a sharp line drive to Tyler Fitzgerald. Freddie Freeman scored for a 6-2 lead. Chris Taylor singled on a ground ball to Michael Conforto. Max Muncy scored to make it 7-2. Miguel Rojas went to second base.

Notes
Tyler Fitzgerald made his MLB debut with the Giants on Thursday. Fitzgerald’s family cheered after he walked to record his first MLB RBI.

The Giants recalled Tristan Beck and Marco Luciano from Triple-A Sacramento while selecting Tyler Fitzgerald after optioning Sean Hjelle to yesterday’s Triple-A Sacramento postgame, placing Brandon Crawford on the ten-day injured list with a right hamstring strain, and placing Paul DeJong on unconditional release waivers.

Giants survive wild 11-10 game over Rockies

The San Francisco Giants and Colorado Rockies concluded their four-game series on Sunday. The Giants survived a wild 11-10 game over the Rockies at Coors Field. San Francisco improved to 76-74, while Colorado fell to 56-93.

The Giants’ last dance in Denver began with a starting lineup with Mike Yastrzemski, Thairo Estrada, Joc Pederson, Michael Conforto, J.D. Davis, LaMonte Wade Jr., Mitch Haniger, Patrick Bailey, Brandon Crawford, and Sean Manaea. Manaea pitched 5 1/3 innings and gave up eight hits, two earned runs, three strikeouts, and one home run.

After four scoreless innings, San Francisco got on the board first. Mitch Haniger doubled on a line drive to Brenton Doyle. J.D. Davis scored for a 1-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning.

The Giants took a commanding lead in the top of the sixth inning. Joc Pederson doubled on a sharp line drive to Hunter Goodman. Thairo Estrada scored for a 2-0 lead. J.D. Davis singled on a ground ball to Nolan Jones. Pederson scored to make it a 3-0 game as Michael Conforto went to second base. Mitch Haniger doubled on a sharp fly ball to Brenton Doyle. Conforto and Davis scored to make it 5-0 as LaMonte Wade Jr. went to third base. Brandon Crawford homered on a fly ball to right center field. Wade Jr. and Mitch Haniger scored to expand the Giants’ lead to 8-0. Estrada capped the top of the sixth inning’s scoring with a single on a line drive to Doyle. Mike Yastrzemski scored to extend the Giants’ lead to 9-0.

The Rockies finally got on the board in the bottom of the sixth inning. Hunter Goodman homered on a line drive to left center field. Nolan Jones scored to reduce the Giants’ lead to 9-2. Brenton Doyle homered on a fly ball to left field. Brendan Rodgers and Alen Trejo scored to cut the Giants’ lead to 9-5.

The Giants added to their lead in the top of the seventh inning. Patrick Bailey doubled on a sharp line drive to Hunter Goodman. Austin Slater and J.D. Davis scored to put the Giants up 11-5.

The Rockies made it a five-run game in the bottom of the seventh inning. Brendan Rodgers singled on a line drive to Mitch Haniger. Ezequiel Tovar scored to lower the Giants’ lead to 11-6 as Hunter Goodman went to second base.

The Rockies picked up the pace in the bottom of the ninth inning but fell just short. Hunter Goodman was out on a sacrifice fly to Austin Slater. Elehuris Montero scored to slash the Giants’ lead to 11-7 with one out. Kris Bryant reached on a fielding error by Camilo Doval. Nolan Jones scored to slice the Giants’ lead to 11-8 as Brendan Rodgers went to third base. Elias Diaz sealed the scoring with a single on a ground ball to Mike Yastrzemski. Rodgers and Sean Bouchard scored to put down the Giants’ lead to 11-10.

Notes
Thairo Estrada achieved a new personal best — a career-high 22 stolen bases.

The Giants wished a special 86th birthday to former Giant Orlando Cepeda. Cepeda, also known as the Baby Bull and Peruchin, played in San Francisco from 1958 to 1966.

Webb throws gem, but Giants fall 3-2 to Rockies

The San Francisco Giants and Colorado Rockies played the second game of the four-game series on Friday. The Giants dropped a 3-2 decision to the Rockies at Coors Field. San Francisco fell to 75-72, while Colorado improved to 54-92. Camilo Doval (6-5, 2.98 ERA) took the loss for the Giants.

The Giants’ lineup featured Mike Yastrzemski, Thairo Estrada, J.D. Davis, Michael Conforto, LaMonte Wade Jr., Mitch Haniger, Patrick Bailey, Brandon Crawford, Luis Matos, and Logan Webb. Webb pitched for eight innings and gave up four hits, one earned run, and six strikeouts.

After a scoreless first inning, San Francisco got on the board in the top of the second inning. Patrick Bailey grounded into a force out to Chase Anderson and Ezequiel Tovar. Michael Conforto scored for a 1-0 Giants lead. LaMonte Wade Jr. was out at second base, while Bailey went to first base with two outs.

The Rockies finally got on the board in the bottom of the eighth inning. Ezequiel Tovar singled on a line drive to Austin Slater. Ryan McMahon scored to tie the ballgame 1-1. Tovar went to second base.

The Giants regained the lead in the top of the ninth inning. Wilmer Flores walked. J.D. Davis scored for a 2-1 lead. LaMonte Wade Jr. went to third base, while Patrick Bailey went to second base.

The Giants’ lead was short-lived as the Rockies took the lead in the bottom of the ninth inning. Elehuris Montero singled on a ground ball to Mike Yastrzemski. Charlie Blackmon and Nolan Jones scored for a 3-2 lead. Montero went to second base. Yastrzemski committed a throwing error. Moreover, San Francisco challenged the play for a home-plate collision, and the call on the field was upheld.

Notes
The Giants optioned Kyle Harrison and Casey Schmitt to Triple-A Sacramento. Ross Stripling returned to San Francisco from rehab and was reinstated from the 15-day injured list.

The Giants recognized and celebrated the cultures, achievements, and celebrations of their Hispanic players, employees, and community members for Hispanic Heritage Month.

The Giants celebrated Roberto Clemente, a Latin American hero and one of the greatest baseball players of all time, on Roberto Clemente Day.

San Francisco, CA – The series finale to this three game series with the San Francisco Giants (75-71) and Cleveland Guardians (69-78) comes in the form of a 66 degree day game in Oracle Park overlooking a beautiful McCovey Cove.

On the mound today starters, Kyle Harrison for the Giants and Logan Allen for the Guardians. The Giants win after a review that showed runner Patrick Bailey was ruled safe scoring on a sacrifice fly. Bailey scoring from third base that was hit by LaMonte Wade Jr. in the 6-5 win in ten innings.

The game Tuesday night snapped a four game winning streak by a 3-1 Cleveland victory and today’s game started exactly where last night’s game picked up. After a lead off Steve Kwan walk, Jose Ramirez would smack a 1-1 pitch to the left field bleachers for a two run home run and with no outs, Guardians 2-0.

The first inning rally for Cleveland wasn’t done yet as an error for Casey Schmitt off a hit by Gabriel Arias would lead to scoring both Josh Naylor and Andres Gimenez, 4-0 Guardians. 

The Giants wouldn’t concede this early though as they jumped on Cleveland the same way Cleveland jumped on them. Luis Matos hits a single that scores Austin Slater and moves over Thairo Estrada. After Matos’s hit, Allen walked Patrick Bailey and loaded the bases, but that would be stopped and Guardians got out of the jam, but the score would be 4-1. 

In the second inning the Guardians would add another one to their onslaught as Josh Naylor hit a single that scored Steven Kwan, making it 5-1 Cleveland.

The Giants took Kyle Harrison out in the fifth and he walked away with three strikeouts, seven hits, and five runs which he’d probably want to forget for his first career day game. From the third inning on it was a scoreless pitching duel, with the score still in favor of Cleveland, but San Francisco broke that stalemate in the seventh inning with a Wilmer Flores scored Thairo Estrada who got on with a double, 5-2.

The Giants were coming down to their final chances and to give themselves better chances, the Giants had Joc Pederson pinch hit and he was hit by pitch so the eighth inning started with Joc on base, but that was just the set up. Patrick Bailey followed him up with a single and moved Joc to third.

Then J.D. Davis erupted the crowd with a home run that Steven Kwan couldn’t snag in left field. This three run home run would’ve blown the roof off this place if it had a roof and just like that, the score was tied 5-5 with no outs. After a DeJong grounded out to second, Lamonte Wade Jr. who was the hero in Monday’s game, hit a single making him the potential go ahead runner on first base.

Estrada almost electrified Oracle Park with a deep fly ball to left, but that was the inning and we headed into the ninth inning with a tie game. 

The Guardians scared the Giants fans with two hits on Tyler Rogers that put runners on second and third, but Camillo Doval came in and got the last out of the inning, now it was the orange and black’s turn in the ninth inning. Wilmer Flores started the inning at bat and singled to left.

Blake Sabol pinch ran for Flores and Mitch Haniger went to the box. Haniger would strike out, but Sabol would make it to second with a steal and Pederson next in the box. Joc would fly out to center and two outs Bailey was the one to possibly be the hero, but he would be struck out swinging and we have extra innings. 

Cleveland’s go at the 10th inning was three up, three down from Doval and now the pressure was on the Giants. A lead off walk for Davis made it a runner on first and the extra innings runner in second and pinch hitting was Brandon Crawford and the crowd was on their feet.

Crawford would flash bunt majority of the at bat and got on base on balls and now the bases loaded with no outs and Wade Jr. at the plate. Lamonte hit the ball to left field and it was caught, but Bailey would tag third and go home, at first sight it looked like Bailey beat out the throw, but after further review Bailey was safe and the game was over 6-5 Giants!!! 

The Giants walked away from this homestand 5-1 and won the series against Cleveland. The winning pitcher is Doval (6-4) and the losing pitcher is Xzavion Curry (3-4) who gave up the walk-off hit. No time to celebrate for SF as they play a brand new four game series against the Colorado Rockies in Colorado at Coors Field September 14th. It’s unknown who will start for the Giants in the first game of the series, but they know they will face Chase Anderson (0-5, 6.49) on the mound for the Rockies.

Giants lose 10-4 to Phillies in series opener

The San Francisco Giants visited Citizens Bank Park to play a three-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies. The Giants lost 10-4 to the Phillies in the series opener.

The Giants fell to 65-60, while the Phillies improved to 68-57. Giants pitcher Sean Manaea (4-4, 5.06 ERA) took the loss, while Phillies pitcher Aaron Nola (11-8, 4.49 ERA) got the win.

The Giants’ starting lineup featured LaMonte Wade Jr., Joc Pederson, Wilmer Flores, Michael Conforto, Patrick Bailey, Johan Camargo, Blake Sabol, Wade Meckler, Casey Schmitt, and Scott Alexander. Alexander pitched just 2/3 innings and gave up three hits, one earned run, and two strikeouts.

The Giants wasted no time getting on the board. Joc Pederson homered on a line drive to right field for a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning.

But the Phillies quickly responded. Bryce Harper singled on a line drive to Blake Sabol, and Trea Turner scored to tie the game 1-1 in the bottom of the first inning.

The Phillies took their first lead of the game in the bottom of the second inning. Edmundo Sosa homered on a fly ball to center field, and Bryson Stott scored to make it 3-1.

The Giants made it a one-run game in the top of the third inning. LaMonte Wade Jr. homered on a fly ball to center field to cut the Phillies’ lead to 3-2.

The Phillies regained the lead in the bottom of the third inning. Alec Bohm homered on a fly ball to center field to make it 4-2. An umpire reviewed Bohm’s home run, and the call on the field was upheld.

The Phillies added to their lead in the bottom of the fifth inning. Bryce Harper hit an inside-the-park home run on a fly ball to left-center field to make it 5-2. Bryson Stott doubled on a line drive to Michael Conforto, and Alec Bohm scored for a 6-2 lead as J.T. Realmuto went to third base.

The Phillies took a double-digit lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. Johan Rojas tripled on a sharp line drive to Wade Meckler, and Alec Bohm and J.T. Realmuto scored to make it 8-2. Kyle Schwarber homered on a fly ball to right field, and Johan Rojas scored for a commanding 10-2 lead.

The Giants bounced back in the top of the ninth inning but were still down by six runs. Johan Camargo was hit by a pitch, and Wilmer Flores scored to reduce the Phillies’ lead to 10-3 as Heliot Ramos went to second base. Blake Sabol singled on a ground ball to Trea Turner that was deflected by Dylan Covey, and Luis Matos scored to cut the Phillies’ lead to 10-4 as Heliot Ramos went to third base and Johan Camargo went to second base.

The Giants recently called up No. 1 prospect Kyle Harrison, a left-handed pitcher.

The San Francisco Giants and Atlanta Braves played their middle game on Saturday. Georgia was on San Francisco’s mind on Logan Webb Day or Webby Day. San Francisco (64-59) dropped a 6-5 decision to Atlanta (80-42) at Truist Field.

Giants pitcher Tyler Rogers (4-5, 2.73 ERA) took the loss after pitching two innings and giving up two hits, two earned runs, three strikeouts, and one home run.

The Giants’ starting lineup consisted of LaMonte Webb Jr., Wade Meckler, Wilmer Flores, Joc Pederson, Michael Conforto, J.D. Davis, Blake Sabol, Johan Camargo, Thairo Estrada, and of course, Logan Webb. Webb pitched six innings and gave up nine hits, four earned runs, five strikeouts, and one home run.

The Giants wasted no time getting on the board. LaMonte Wade Jr. homered on a fly ball to right field for a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning.

The Giants doubled their lead in the top of the second inning. Johan Camargo grounded into a forceout that went from Nicky Lopez to Orlando Arcia. J.D. Davis scored for a 2-0 lead. Blake Sabol went to second base, while Camargo went to first base with one out.

The Braves tied the game in the bottom of the second inning. Eddie Rosario doubled on a line drive to Joc Pederson. Matt Olson scored to cut the Giants’ lead in half to 2-1. Marcell Ozuna went to third base. Orlando Arcia grounded out and went from Johan Camargo to LaMonte Wade Jr. Ozuna scored to tie the game 2-2 with two outs.

The Giants took a two-run lead in the top of the fourth inning. J.D. Davis was out on a sacrifice fly to Ronald Acuna Jr. Joc Pederson scored for a 3-2 lead with one out. Thairo Estrada singled on a line drive to Eddie Rosario. Michael Conforto scored for a 4-2 lead. Johan Camargo went to second base.

The Braves made it a one-run game in the bottom of the fourth inning. Travis d’Arnaud doubled on a sharp line drive to Michael Conforto. Eddie Rosario scored to cut the Giants’ lead to 4-3.

The Braves tied the game in the bottom of the fifth inning. Ronald Acuna Jr. homered on a fly ball to right field to tie the game 4-4.

The Giants challenged a force play in the top of the sixth inning and the call on the field was upheld. Johan Camargo grounded into a double play that went from Nicky Lopez to Orlando Arcia to Matt Olson. Michael Conforto scored for a 5-4 lead. J.D. Davis went to third base, as Blake Sabol was out at second base and Camargo was out at first base with two outs.

The Braves responded in the bottom of the eighth inning. Eddie Rosario homered on a fly ball to center field. Luke Williams scored for a 6-5 lead.

Notes
The Giants placed Ross Stripling on the 15-day injured list — retroactive to August 17th — with a mid-back strain.

The Giants placed Ryan Walker on the paternity list.

The Giants recalled Sean Hjelle and Casey Schmitt from Triple-A Sacramento.

San Francisco Giants game wrap: Oakland A’s Secure Back To Back Wins Against Their Bay Area Rivals With A 8-6 Victory

Oakland, California – On a beautiful Sunday in Oakland Coliseum in front of 27,381 people, the battle of the Bay part 2 took place as the San Francisco Giants faced the Oakland A’s. The final game of this series for the two teams and it’s coming off the heels of an Athletics win 8-6. Alex Cobb took the mound for San Francisco and Luis Medina on the mound for Oakland, this ball game was all about the bats.

From the opening inning, the offense was on display. Giants struck first, after a J.D. Davis single scores Lamonte Wade Jr. 1-0 Giants. The A’s put up one on the board when it was their turn in the 1st as Seth Brown tripled to center and scored Zack Gelof to tie everything up.

Second inning saw more back and forth, this time Wade Jr. singled and Brandon Crawford scored, but in the bottom of the second ‘s took the lead when Nick Allen hit a two run bomb. This home run scored Tyler Soderstrom and the score became 3-2 Oakland.

The third inning was where San Francisco took momentum back in their hands. Patrick Bailey hit a single and Joc Pederson scored the tying run. 3-3. The Giants took the lead in the same inning when Crawford hit into a fielder’s choice which allowed Davis to score, 4-3 Giants.

The Giants kept their foot on the pedal in the fifth inning when Wade Jr. got his second RBI by hitting a single and Michael Conforto scored, 5-3 Giants, but they weren’t done. Estrada dropped a bunt for a single and Patrick Bailey crossed the plate, 6-3 Giants.

The A’s fought back in the fifth and sixth innings to take a one run lead. In the fifth Nick Allen hit his second home run of the day and that got the place riled up. In the sixth inning with bases loaded, Soderstrom was walked and Brown scored, but right after that Shea Langeliers hit a deep double and scored both Diaz and Rooker to take the lead, 7-6 Oakland.

This onslaught of offense didn’t stop for Oakland after the seventh inning stretch when Gelof, who got on base from a single, scored off a Tony Kemp sacrifice fly. 8-6 A’s. The Giants would get out this inning after Ryan Walker would pick off Diaz and this seemed like the sigh of relief San Francisco needed to generate a comeback.

In the eighth the Giants couldn’t get a rally started, because Angel Felipe struck out the side and the A’s had the momentum in their hands. Jakob Junis retired the side when he checked in the eighth inning, but now it was up to the Giants offense to make things pop one last time before they lose the Oakland leg of the battle of the Bay.

A’s closer Trevor May came in and delivered three straight outs to secure the victory for Oakland with the final score being 8-6 Oakland and a series sweep.

The winning pitcher is Kirby Snead, losing pitcher is Luke Jackson, and Trevor May locks in the save. Alex Cobb clocked in 5.1 innings and record seven hits, four runs, and three strikeouts, with two home runs.

The Giants have to flush this series out of their system, because the next day Monday, August 6th, they will be in Anaheim to face the Angels with Patrick Sandoval (6-8, 4.11) on the mound for the halos and Logan Webb (9-9, 3.45) taking the hill for the Giants.

Giants Lose to Tigers 5-1 in Sixth Straight Loss

The San Francisco Giants visited the Detroit Tigers on Monday at Comerica Park. The Giants lost to the Tigers 5-1 for their sixth straight loss. San Francisco fell to 54-47, while Detroit improved to 46-54.

In case you didn’t know, the initial Giants at Tigers game on April 16th was postponed and rescheduled for July 24th.

The Giants’ starting lineup featured Austin Slater, Wilmer Flores, J.D. Davis, Patrick Bailey, Luis Matos, Michael Conforto, David Villar, Casey Schmitt, LaMonte Wade Jr., and Ross Stripling. Stripling (0-4, 5.77 ERA) took the loss after pitching six innings and giving up ten hits, three earned runs, and three strikeouts.

After two scoreless innings, Detroit took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning. Kerry Carpenter singled on a ground ball to Michael Conforto. Jake Rogers scored as Riley Greene went to third base.

The Tigers made it a 3-0 game in the bottom of the fifth inning. Kerry Carpenter singled on a sharp line drive to Michael Conforto. Riley Greene scored as Spencer Torkelson went to third base.

The Giants finally got on the board in the top of the sixth inning and cut the Tigers’ lead to 3-1. Wilmer Flores homered on a fly ball to left field.

The Tigers sealed the scoring with a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning. Zack Short homered on a fly ball to left field. Andy Ibanez scored.
