On the Golden State Warriors podcast David Zizmor:

#1 David, despite the Golden State Warriors Stephen Curry out with a hamstring and Draymond Green getting into foul trouble the Warriors were still in front of the Minnesota Timberwolves by five points in the fourth quarter in game three and it looked like they had a shot at putting this game away.

#2 The Timberwolves Anthony Edwards and Julius Randle got hot with 1:19 remaining. Edwards hit a baseline three point shot and scored 36 points and Randle scored 24 points with 12 assists and ten rebounds and erased the Warriors lead and won by five 102-97 on Saturday night at Chase Center.

#3 For game four the Warriors need to tie this one up or got back to Minnesota down 3-1. Warriors have the home floor at Chase Center how do you see game 4 for Monday night.

Headline Sports podcast Charlie O Sun May 11, 2025:

#1 Charlie, the Golden State Warriors have gone down with a 102-97 loss in game 3 to the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Warriors are like Popeye who lost their can of spinach playing without superstar Stephen Curry.

#2 Warrior top scorers from Saturday’s game 3 playoff game Jimmy Butler with 33 points and Jonathan Kuminga with 30 points as hard as they tried the Warriors fell five points short as time ran out and the Timberwolves move ahead in the series 2-1.

#3 In other NBA news the Boston Celtics cut the New York Knicks 2-0 lead in half with a win at Madison Square Garden in New York 115-93. The Celtics came into game 3 with backs to the wall but their talented corp of leading scorers with Payton Pritchard with 23 points and Jayson Tatum with 22 points righted the Celtics direction. The Celtics can tie up the series at 2-2 as they tip off against the Knicks on Monday night at MSG for game 4.

#4 Charlie turning to Major League Baseball the Sacramento A’s continue to surprise with a five run sixth inning against the visiting New York Yankees at Sutter Health Park in Sacramento and come up with a 11-7 win to tie the three game series on Saturday.

#5 The Colorado Rockies are now threatening the 2024 Chicago White Sox worst loss in baseball record Saturday they got completely trounced by the San Diego Padres by three touchdowns 21-0 if it were a football game. What’s worse the Rockies didn’t score a single run and the Rocks pitching staff got rocked all afternoon.

#6 Rockies manager Bud Black left starter Bradley Blalock out to on the mound to figure things out as Blalock got lit up for 13 hits and 12 runs in 3.2 innings of work before being relieved by Juan Mejia who got rocked but not as bad for six hits and four earned runs in 1.1 innings.

NBA Playoffs podcast Michael Roberson: Rockets close the gap with 131-116 win over Golden State; Warriors hold a one game lead 3-2

Golden State Warriors Brandin Podziemski (2), Jimmy Butler (22), and Stephen Curry (30) watch from the bench in the second half as they lose game 5 of the NBA Playoffs first round to the Houston Rockets at the Toyota Center in Houston on Wed Apr 30, 2025 (AP News photo)

NBA Playoffs podcast Michael Roberson:

#1 Golden State Warriors failed on both end of defense and offense on Wednesday and failed in an elimination opportunity to take out the Houston Rockets with a 131-116 loss as the Rockets cut the deficit in a now 3-2 series.

#2 The Warriors got into a jam early in the game as you saw super star players sitting on the Golden State bench, Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler and the remaining Warriors starters as head coach Steve Kerr played the backups in the last five minutes in the third quarter with the Rockets up with a 20 point lead.

#3 Kerr did share in the blame of how the Warriors performed in Houston in game five saying that he did not have them ready to play. That the Warriors got into foul trouble with three fouls in a two minute segment of the game. The Rockets were 13 for 13 from free throw line at the end of the first quarter.

#4 After a very physical game 4 at Golden State and the series moved back to Houston for game 5 how fired up were this Rockets group they just jumped out at the Warriors right from the tip off?

#5 The Rockets head to Golden State for game 6 Fri May 2 for a 6:00pm PDT tip off. The Warriors can put this away with home court advantage and advance to the second round. However if the Rockets come out again keyed up and with another game plan to shut down Golden State’s starting line up it would force a game 7 that would go back to Houston on Sun May 4th.

Golden State Warriors/NBA Playoffs podcast David Zizmor: Will there be more bad blood in game 5 Wednesday night?

In the second quarter of game 4 of the NBA Playoffs things got heated between the Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets at the Toyota Center in Houston on Mon Apr 28, 2025 (AP News photo)

On the Golden State Warriors podcast David Zizmor:

#1 Dave how much blame to you give Golden State Warriors Draymond Green who received a Flagrant 1 foul with 2:44 left in the second quarter when Green pushed the Houston Rockets Tari Eason’s face into the hardwood. Eason also picked up a technical.

#2 There was already tension between the two teams going back to game 2 when Jimmy Butler was upended landing on his back and got a pelvic contusion on Wednesday when he was hard fouled by Amen Thompson. On Friday Dillion Brooks said Green was a dirty player. Warrior head coach Steve Kerr called the comment “interesting?” Do you expect there to be more bad blood on Wednesday night in game 5 in Houston?

Headline Sports podcast Bruce MacGowan Sun Apr 27, 2025; Williams is what 49ers are looking for on defense; Raiders Jeanty could wind up being leading running back; plus more news

San Francisco 49ers newest running back Mykel Williams is all smiles after being the first round draft pick and the 11th overall. Williams was addressing the media on Fri Apr 25, 2025 at Levi Stadium in Santa Clara (AP News photo)

Headline Sports podcast Bruce MacGowan:

#1 Bruce, the San Francisco 49ers made it their mission to get first round draft pick pass rusher Mykel Williams. The 49ers had their eye on Williams but pumped the brakes two seasons ago because Williams had suffered an high ankle sprain. He recovered since and 49ers general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan hope to use Williams as a key and core person on the 49ers defense.

#2 The Las Vegas Raiders made a great choice in getting running back Ashton Jeanty as their top pick in the draft. Jeanty was one of the most effective running backs in college football last season at Boise State and Raiders head coach Pete Carroll is confident that Jeanty will end up being the number one running back for the Raiders in the future.

#3 The Las Vegas Review Journal ran a headline that the Athletics still have not come up with the $1.75 billion as the A’s had said in a March 5th Las Vegas Stadium Authority meeting that the would have the money and would be ready by June to have shovels in ground. The article questions when will the A’s fund the park and there is a possibility it may not happen.

#4 The Golden State Warriors Jimmy Butler is still questionable for game 4 for Monday night against the Houston Rockets at the Chase Center in San Francisco. Butler who suffered a lower back contusion after getting his legs taken out from beneath him and missed game 3. Can Butler return and be playoff competitive Monday.

NBA Playoffs podcast with Michael Roberson: Golden St’s Butler and Curry do damage in play in win over Memphis; Magic’s Anthony leads with 26 pts in win over Hawks; plus more news

Golden State Warriors Jimmy Butler (left) and Stephen Curry (right) embrace the Warriors victory over the Memphis Grizzlies of the NBA play in win at Chase Center in San Francisco on Tue Apr 15, 205 (AP News photo)

NBA Playoffs podcast with Michael Roberson:

#1  Golden State Warriors Jimmy Butler scored 38 points, seven rebounds, and six assists, guard Stephen Curry scored 37 as the Warriors are the seventh seeded team in the NBA Western Conference with a 121-116 win over the Memphis Grizzlies in Tuesday night’s play in tournament at Chase Center in San Francisco. The Warriors have advanced to the best of seven games to face the Houston Rockets in Houston on Sunday.

#2  The Orlando Magic’s Cole Anthony came off the bench on Tuesday night with 26 points with six assists to help lead the Magic to a 120-95 win over the Atlanta Hawks in the NBA play in tournament. Paolo Banchero scored 17 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists and Wendell Carter Jr scored 19 points with seven rebounds. Next up for the Magic the Boston Celtics in Boston Sun Apr 20th for the best of seven series?

#3 On the other hand the Hawks Trae Young was none to thrilled with the direction of the play in game and was so frustrated that at 4:47 left in the game he got hit with two technical fouls one for throwing a chest pass at official James Williams and deflecting the ball with his foot and would not give the ball to official Pat Fraher. Was this a matter of how the Hawks just couldn’t get anything going against the Magic and Young had just had enough and this would be his season’s swan song?

#4 Michael, talk about Isiah Thomas’ comments regarding the Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James taking warm ups before last Sunday’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers without a shirt on. Thomas said if it had been one of his players doing that he wouldn’t have allowed it. Thomas went onto to say “What are we doing here” and NBA Commissioner Adam Silver needs to fine that. Michael your thoughts on LeBron taking warm ups before games without a shirt on?

#5  Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison said that “defense wins championships” and he used that to explain why he made the decison to trade Luka Doncic to the Lakers in deal that shocked the NBA and quite frankly upset the Mavericks fanbase that had fans chanting in the stands for firing Harrison.

#2 Portland Trail Blazers general manager Joe Cronin was given a multiyear deal with the Trail Blazers on Monday. The Blazers have improved to over 14 wins compared to this time last season. Portland has 35 wins this season an have gone 22-16 since Jan 19th.

#3 New York Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson who was out over a month returned last Sunday to face the Phoenix Suns scoring 15 points and getting six assists to help the Knicks to a 112-98 win. While it wasn’t Brunson’s best outing he hit three out of nine from the floor and miss some of his jump shots. Brunson is trying to get his rhythm and timing back.

The loses have been piling up since losing to the San Antonio Spurs Apr 2, Golden State Warriors Apr 4, and Indiana Pacers Apr 6. You would think with all that talent they have they would have been able to snap out it by now?

#5 Some fan was getting smart with the Washington Wizards Marcus Smart and it turned into a shouting match. Smart said a fan crossed the line and was heckling the Wizards bench at TD Garden in Boston while the Wizards were playing the Boston Celtics. Smart a former Celtic said, “You never want to see that, especially for a guy who’s coming back and has given the city everything he has.”
