On the Golden State Warriors podcast with Barbara:

#1 With four games left in the season the Warriors need to finish strong although they have clinched at least a play-in spot.

#2 Sunday night the Warriors played without Stephen Curry and Andrew Wiggins. Curry got a much needed rest and Wiggins continues to struggle with an ankle issue.

#3 Klay Thompson stepped into a critical role in the absence of Stephen Curry and he did not disappoint playing a terrific game.

#4 Off the bench the Warriors finally got to see Jonathan Kuminga who missed six games. He was also a huge part of this win and despite missing so much time he did not miss a beat.

#5 Tuesday night the Warriors will take on the Los Angeles Lakers in a huge game. The Warriors will need every guy on the team to bring his A game in this highly anticipated game. You do not want to lose the match between the ninth and tenth place teams.

Golden State Warriors podcast with Barbara Mason: Warriors take on Nets at Barclay Center in Brooklyn tonight

For all his efforts Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry who scored 60 points against the Atlanta Hawks a season high couldn’t get the Warriors past the Hawks at State Farm Arena in Atlanta on Sat Feb 3, 2024 (AP News photo)

On the Golden State Warriors podcast with Barbara Mason:

#1 The Golden State Warriors had to be frustrated getting a 60 point effort out of guard Stephen Curry in their last game against the Atlanta Hawks at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta only to lose 141-134 on Saturday night.

#2 Once again Barbara we talk about Curry and how’s he carrying the weight of the team this one was a season high for him scoring those 60 points.

#3 Curry said it “sucks to have something and nothing to show for it” after that big effort what’s worse the Warriors now drop four games under .500 as they sit in 12th place in the Western Conference.

#4 Curry also said it was frustrating that the Warriors could have had a couple plays here and a couple there and could have won the game in the seven point loss to Atlanta.

#5 The Warriors play the third of this five game road trip against the Brooklyn Nets on Monday night. The Nets have lost six of their last ten games and are 11th in the Eastern Conference of the NBA. How do you see these two teams tipping off tonight?

On the Warriors podcast with Barbara:

#1 The Golden State Warriors (6-7) lost a real knuckle cracker against the Oklahoma City (8-4) Thunder Saturday night 130-123 in overtime.

#2 Andrew Wiggins had his season high game with 31 points and was the reason that the Warriors had a great chance to win this game.

#3 With 1.6 seconds left on the clock the Thunder’s Chet Holmgren hit an unlikely 25-foot three point shot to tie the game at 117 and drive this game into overtime.

#4 The Warriors were looking forward to ending their five game losing streak only to have it continued with the overtime loss.

#5 Monday night the Warriors will take on the Houston Rockets at Chase Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM PT.

Golden State Warriors podcast with Barbara Mason: Green injures ankle in pick up game out for four to six weeks

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green celebrates after scoring against the Dallas Mavericks during the second half in Game 5 of the NBA basketball playoffs Western Conference finals in San Francisco, Thursday, May 26, 2022. Green injured his ankle in a pick up game at Chase Center in San Francisco and will miss four to six weeks due to the injury as announced Sat Sep 30, 2023 (AP News file photo)

On the Warriors podcast with Barbara:

#1 Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green who suffered an ankle sprain will be out from four to six weeks. How do you see his absence impacting the beginning of the Warriors season?

#2 Barbara, you never know what could happen in those pick up games and at Chase Center last week Green injured the ankle and the timing for Green was bad as the season is right around the corner.

#3 Green said even with the MRI you don’t see the trend of it immediately but the swelling is down. He’s encouraged but it won’t get him in the line up sooner than a month or so.

#4 Green will speak with the media on Media Day this Monday. Tuesday will be the beginning of training camp. The Warriors first pre season game is on Oct 7 and they’ll open the season against the Phoenix Suns on Oct 24th.

#5 Is Green getting too old to play this game at this level? A question no one but on one asks out loud, at 33. Green is entering his 12th season in the NBA and 2023-24 will be the first year of his four year contract. Is Green long in the tooth or does he still have it in the tank. Is this injury indicative of his body aging?

Golden State Warriors podcast with Barbara Mason: Will Warriors get deal done with team president Meyers?

Bob Meyers Golden State Warriors team president seen here in this 2017 photo. Meyer’s contract is set to expire in June 2023 and there has been no word on negotiations whether Meyers will renew or not. Meyers has been with the club since 2011. (AP News file photo)

On the Warriors podcast with Barbara:

#1 Will the Golden State Warriors get a deal done with their president of basketball operations Bob Meyers whose contract expires in June. Meyers contract is entering the final months of his eight year deal while Warriors owner Joe Lacob insists that the Warriors love Bob and hopes he can stay on for a long time.

#2 Despite what Meyers says there is no guarantee that a deal would get done. Meyers is the architect of four NBA Championships for Golden State and a two time executive of the year award winner yet and still the Warriors (14-13) have had some tough patches this season, some tough roster decisions, a $500 million payroll and a luxury tax bill for the 2022-23 season.

#3 Meyers could reach a deal with Golden State because in the case of the Toronto Raptors team president Masai Ujiri who took the Raptors to the championship during his tenure he and the Raptors managed to reach a deal in the closing weeks of the 2021 season.

#4 The Warriors managed to get by the Boston Celtics (21-6) and stay a game over .500 with a 123-107 win at Chase Center in San Francisco on Saturday night. Warriors Klay Thompson led with 34 points followed by Stephen Curry with 32 points.

#5 The hot Milwaukee Bucks (19-6) host Golden State Tuesday night at the Fiserv Center in Milwaukee. The Bucks have won six of their last seven games and are looking for more.

Warriors Drop Another Road Game to Detroit 128-114; Pistons snap 5 game loss streak

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr points the direction the Warriors should be shooting against the Detroit Pistons at Little Caser’s Palace in Detroit on Sun Oct 30, 2022 (AP News photo)

    By Barbara Mason

After losing an overtime game to the Charlotte Hornets Saturday night, the Golden State Warriors (3-4) took on the Detroit Pistons (2-5) Sunday. The Hornets spent much of the game at the line Saturday night which in some part was the reason the Warriors did not win this game in regulation. In Detroit it was not much different as the Warriors lose to the Pistons 128-114 at Little Cesar’s Palace in Detroit.

Against the Pistons the Warriors will need to clean that up against one of the best teams in the league getting to the line. This will be one of only two games in which these two teams will meet.

Game recap: Unlike Sunday night the Warriors went on a 12 to 2 run in the first quarter and led 19-11 before the Pistons cut that lead to two points 19-17. The Warriors had some good looks but failed to capitalize. The main threat for Detroit was of course Bojan Bogdanovic who already had two shots from downtown.

The Pistons hung around after trailing by as much as ten points and tied up the game at 41 going on to take the lead 44-41 with six minutes left in the second quarter. Draymond Green already had three personals at halftime. The Warriors were shooting 37% to the Pistons 48%.

Detroit has a starting roster made up of some up and coming youngsters that will be amazing players down the road in fact making an impact in the first two quarters of this game. At the half the Warriors had some work to do trailing 63-55. The second quarter was a killer with the Pistons outscoring Golden State 34-18.

Two minutes into the third quarter the Warriors were trailing 74-57. The Pistons had lost five in a row and were looking to break that losing streak. Detroit continued to extend their lead at one time ahead 79-60 but Golden State came roaring back courtesy of Jordan Poole hitting four shots from downtown in the quarter.

The Warriors continued to trail deep into the fourth quarter. With three minutes left this was an eight point game in favor of Detroit. The young Piston roster was having a banner game. The Warriors were staring down another loss. They were fouling far to often and the Pistons were hitting those free throws. The final was 128-114 and Detroit had broken their losing streak.

Every starter for Detroit scored in double digits. They ran the Warriors off the three point line attacking in the second half and it paid off. Even when Jordan Poole went off in the second half, the young Detroit roster did not fold. This team doesn’t typically make three’s but they sure did Sunday with 14.

Stephen Curry had the high score with 32 points and Jordan Poole followed that up with 30 points. The bottom line is that the Warriors have a bull’s eye on their backs, they are the hunted.

This is exactly why it is so very difficult to repeat. . “It looks like a pick-up game out there,” said Steve Kerry after the game. “We’ve got to stop fouling, 38 more free throws tonight. We’re putting ourselves in some tough spots offensively and that translates into the defense,” said Kerr after the game.

Tuesday the Warriors will take on the Miami Heat after having a day off. Tipoff is scheduled for 3:30 PM. The Warriors cannot continue to fall behind by double digits on the road. They have s lot to clean up before Tuesday night.

2 . Kevin Looney had a banner night -Warrior defense came up big.

    1. Slow start for both teams- it was a second half game 7.

4 Klay Thompson kept the team afloat in game 7 finishing with 30 points.

    1. It was a late game rally by Stephen Curry late in the game that secured the win.

Golden State Warriors podcast with Barbara Mason: How Warriors missed Thompson’s presence in Sacramento on Sunday

The Golden State Warriors Klay Thompson celebrates a great offensive night on Sat Apr 2, 2022 at Chase Center in San Francisco sat out Sun Apr 3, 2022 in Sacramento due to a management injury (AP News photo)

On the Golden State Warriors podcast with Barbara:

#1 Barbara, the Golden State Warriors didn’t have the use of Klay Thompson due to a management injury. Watching the contest in Sacramento on Sunday night could you see a difference with Thompson out of the line up.

#2 There is no doubt with a Thompson and Curry out of the line up the Warriors have to lean on scorers Jordan Poole and Andrew Wiggins to provide for offense.

#3 In the Warriors game on Saturday you couldn’t tell that Thompson had any injury issues he was lights out scoring 36 points.

#4 As you could see from their game against the Utah Jazz a huge difference when Thompson is in the line up they got a four point win against a good club.

#5 The Kings are a team that has been on the move lately before Sunday’s game they had won four out their last five. They narrowly lost the the Phoenix Suns on Sun Mar 20th they’re a team that the Warriors had own in the past.

Golden State Warriors podcast with Barbara Mason: Warriors drop fifth game out of six; Also Barbara’s favorite moment from the Oscar Awards

Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson (11) goes for two against the Washington Wizards guard Ish Smith (4) at the Capital One Arena in Washington on Sun Mar 27, 2022 (AP News photo)

On the Warriors podcast with Barbara:

#1 Barbara is it pretty evident with no Stephen Curry the Golden State Warriors (48-27) have lost their way?

#2 The Washington Wizards who defeated the Warriors on Sunday 123-115 had lost four of their last eight games playing .500. a team that were the underdogs but the way the Warriors have been playing it’s a safe bet not to go near this one.

#3 The Wizards who got an eight point win over the Warriors held close leads for most of the game and hung on to defeat Golden State. The Wizards got scoring help from Corey Kispert 25 points, Kristaps Porzingis 23 points, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope who had 22 points.

#4 Warriors leading scorers Jordan Poole led with 26 points, Klay Thompson 25, Andrew Wiggins with 24, maybe they should give Draymond Green the ball more often he finished seven.

#5 Don’t get fresh with the Fresh Prince: Barbara getting off the Warriors subject you had a chance to watch the Oscar Awards tonight the highlight was when comedian Chris Rock got slapped in the face in front of a live audience on live TV by Comedian Will Smith after Rock made a joke about the Fresh Prince’s wife Jada Smith being GI Jane 2. It was a hard slap delivered by Smith right on the face of Rock who was stunned. What was more stunning is Smith dropping the F bomb telling Rock “Keep my wife’s name out of your f—–g mouth” not once but twice.
