#1 Marko, the San Jose Barracuda never got on track as they were scrambling and trying to figure out the Colorado Eagles defense Saturday in Colorado the lack off offense hurt them as they lost by two goals 3-1 in their last game.

#2 The Eagles Oskar Olausson scored his 11th goal of the season to get the Eagles started with a 1-0 lead. He got assist from TJ Tynan and Jack Ahcan at 19:50.

#3 In the second period Scott Sabourin scored his eighth goal of the season 23 seconds into the period and it would turn out to be San Jose’s only goal of the contest making it a 1-1.

#4 The Eagles got their final two goals of the game at 4:53 in the second period Jayson Megna picked up his 18th goal of the season taking a 2-1 lead. In the third period Tye Falhaber scored his 21st goal at 19:14. and the Eagles came away with a 3-1 win. It was the Barracuda’s 25th loss of the season making them 33-25-3-2.

#5 Next up for San Jose they make the trip to face the Coachella Firebirds on Wednesday with a 7:00pm face off at Acrisure Arena in Thousand Palms. The Firebirds are fourth in the Pacific at 36-24-2-5. The Firebirds are playing .500 hockey having lost five of their last ten games. Marko how do you see this match up.

Barracuda fall 5-3 to Firebirds, snapping a season-long win streak

Coming into Saturday’s game, the San Jose Barracuda were looking to extend their winning streak to two games but just didn’t quite make it losing to the Coachella Firebirds 5-3 . The last time these two teams faced off was a month ago on January 22nd where the Barracuda won at home in a shootout. San Jose were looking to continue their win streak against Coachella for the season but fell short.

Coachella got started early, scoring 48 seconds into the game. Jani Nyman scoring his 23rd goal of the season. They extended their lead to two when Gustav Olofsson scoring his second goal of the season. Ville Ottavainen and David Goyette registering the assists.

San Jose cut into Coachella’s lead with Danil Guschin scoring his 15th goal of the season. Pavol Regenda and Colin White registering the assists.

Three seconds after San Jose killed a penalty, Coachella extended their lead again at 7:42 of the second. Jagger Firkus scoring his 11th of the season, John Hayden and Eduard Sale registering the assists. Firebirds made it 4-1 when Ben Meyers scored his 19th of the season. David Goyette and Nikolas Brouillard registering the assists.

The former FireBird cut the lead in half when Andrew Poturalski scored his 21st goal of the season. Lucas Carlsson and Ethan Cardwell registering the assists.

San Jose didn’t back down without a fight, scoring with 46 seconds left in the game. Colin White scoring his 8th goal of the season. Luca Cagnoni and Pavol Regenda registering the assists.

Logan Morrrison sealed the win scoring his 11th goal of the season with two seconds left. Ben Myers registering the lone assist.

The Barracuda will be back in action against the Bakersfield Condors on Wednesday. They will be looking to get back in the win column after losing the last game of the road trip. Barracuda snap Reign’s 4 game win streak, winning 3-1

San Jose got back in the win column following a 2 game losing streak, dropping games against San Diego and Ontario on Saturday with a 3-1 win at Pechanga Arena in San Diego. In Wednesday’s game, the Barracuda erased a three goal deficit in the third period only to lose 6-4. For Saturday’s game, head coach John McCarthy’s key to the game was to “lock in right away.”

After a quiet first period, San Jose opened up the scoring at 4:45 of the second. After a board battle at the blue line won by Andrew Poturalski, Thomas Bordeleau scoring his 11th of the season. Poturalski and Ethan Cardwell registering the assists.

Picking up his own rebound, Ethan Cardwell scored his seventh goal of the season to extend San Jose’s lead to 2.

As the result of forcing a turnover, Mitchell Russell scored his first goal of the season, Rem Pitlick registering the assists. Russell with his second in his AHL career, spending most of the season with the ECHL affiliate the Wichita Thunder.

With under 30 seconds left in the game, Ontario avoids the shutout. Martim Chromiak scoring his 5th PPG of the season. Reily Walsh and Charles Hudon registering the assists.

Barracuda snap losing streak in 4-3 shootout win over Coachella Valley Firebirds

SAN JOSE- Coming into Wednesday’s game, San Jose snapped their three game losing streak defeating the Coachella Valley Firebirds 4-3 at Tech CU Arena. Both Danil Guschin and Thomas Bordeleau drew back into the lineup after missing the last series. Before the game, San Jose and Anaheim made a trade sending Justin Bailey to the Ducks and Pavol Regenda to the Sharks. Regenda made his San Jose Barracuda debut Wednesday night.

Coachella got started early scoring 1:04 into the first. Logan Morrisson scored his tenth of the season, assisted by Lleyton Roed and Daniel Sprong. San Jose tied it at 12:18 after Bordeleau picked up a loose puck and passed it to Poturalski who scored his 17th of the season. Ethan Cardwell picking up the secondary assist.

San Jose took the lead at 9:40 of the second with 20 seconds left in four on four action. After a couple back-to-back passes between Jimmy Schuldt and Colin White, Schuldt scored his third of the season. Frisch registering the secondary assist after tipping the puck to Schuldt.

Coachella answered back at 14:00 when the fifth ranked powerplay took advantage of their fourth opportunity. Jani Nyman beat Dell’s left side and scored his 16th goal of the season. Nikolas Brouillard and Brandon Biro registering the assists.

26 seconds later, Coachella retook their lead when Max Lajoie scored his third of the season, Ty Nelson and Luke Henman registering the assists.

Scoring his first of the season of the season, Jack Thompson tied the game at 3-3 at 13:05 of the third. Donavan Houle and Colin White registering the assists. White with his second assist of the night.

Regulation wasn’t enough as the game went into overtime. Overtime wasn’t enough and the game went into a shootout. San Jose sent out Danil Guschin and Lucas Carlsson who made both of their shots. Dell also denied both Firebirds and San Jose walked away with the win, snapping their three game losing streak.

The Barracuda will be back in action on Saturday hosting the Toronto Marlies for the first time at home. The last time these two teams faced off was on November 24th when San Jose split the series, winning in a shootout. Danil Guschin scoring in regulation and also in the shootout t secure the win.

#1 The San Jose Barracuda opened up their game against the Abbottsford Canucks scoring the first two goals of the game by Justin Bailey at 7:06 and Andrew Poturalski at 8:53. The Canucks came right back to tie it with Nils Aman at 14:12 and Cole McWard at 17:13, 2-2.

#2 In the second period the Aatu Raty scored for the Canucks at 1:54 to get back the lead 3-2. The Barracuda tied things up at 16:51 with a goal from Luca Cagnoni making it 3-3.

#3 In the third period Ethan Cardwell would score the last Barracuda goal of the afternoon at seven seconds for a brief one goal lead 4-3. The Canucks Linus Karlsson would score at 1:19 to tie it 4-4 and the game winner came at 19:22 when the Canucks Jonathan Lekkerimaki scored for a 5-4 final.

#4 Barracuda goaltender Gabriel Carrierre saved 24 out of 29 shots allowing five goals. The Canucks goaltender Silovs Arturs saved 22 out of 26 shots and allowed four goals for the win.

#5 The Barracuda face off against the Coachella Firebirds who always give San Jose fits. The Firebirds are second in the AHL Pacific with a 21-13-1-4 record with 47 points. The Barracuda are in fifth place 20-13-1-2 with 43 points. Face off at Tech CU Wed Jan 22 is at 7:00pm PST.
