SAN FRANCISCO — Plans by the Oakland Raiders are on the drawing board and sources say it’s very close that an agreement between the Raiders and San Francisco Giants will be hammered out. Matter fact it’s understood there is an agreement on the table as of Monday morning.

If an agreement is made it’s almost assured because of the smaller size of Oracle Park compared to the Oakland Coliseum the Raiders would most likely sell out every home game plus the idea that it’s the Raiders last season in the Bay Area and many Raider and NFL fans will want to take a last look at the team before they leave.

At issue is the San Francisco 49ers who have territorial rights in San Francisco and will they allow the Raiders playing in San Francisco. The 49ers are said to be studying any possible financial loses if the Raiders play in the city. The 49ers who play in Santa Clara a good hour drive from the City may ok the deal as the Raiders will play their last season in the Bay Area at Oracle Park.

The 49ers are looking to see what they would benefit from the deal from having the Raiders playing in San Francisco and that the 49ers may ask for a cut on tickets and TV shares from the Raiders if they waive their territorial rights. The 49ers have not commented on the Raiders playing in San Francisco and negotiations are still on the way.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said last week that he wanted the Raiders to make a decision as to where they will play as soon as possible. The NFL wants to begin making the schedule for the 2019 season without further delay.

The Raiders who chose not to play at the Oakland Coliseum anymore after the city of Oakland filed a lawsuit against the team in December. The Raiders had a tentative deal with the Oakland Coliseum and withdrew after Oakland filed the suit stating that the suit was over the relocation to Las Vegas calling the deal “illegal” the city of Oakland is seeking million of dollars from the Raiders and the NFL.

For football Oracle Park would seat up to 40,000 fans. Oracle Park hosted football when the XFL’s San Francisco Demons who played there in 2001, The California Mountain Lions in 2009 of the United Football League, Cal in 2011, NCAA bowl games the Shriners, Diamond, Kraft and Foster Bowls in 2002 to 2013.

Cal Bears basketball podcast with Morris Phillips: At this rate, Cal can only reboot and play for pride now

On the Cal Bears podcast with Morris:

#1 The Utah Utes head coach  Larry Krystkowiak saw his offense get it in gear against the Cal Bears instantly on offense, but the defense took awhile to get it in gear, but once they did, the Bears were pretty much done.

#2 The home floor didn’t help for Cal. They lost 82-64. They’ve struggled at home and have not won game this season.

#3  Krystkowiak said in the postgame presser that the first half was a shootout and that the offense was expending with a lot more energy. Knowing the struggles of the Bears and with the Utes climbing on offense did the Bears even have a chance to shut the Utes down in that first half.

#4 The Utes helped their own cause in the Pac-12 standings with their fourth straight win and now in a second place tie with USC.

#5 Cal’s attendance is shrinking with each loss and the fans and alum can’t give away a ticket as Cal drops to a 5-15 record. Cal’s next home game this Sun Feb 3 against the Stanford Cardinal.

Cal Bears podcast with Morris Philllips and Michael Duca: Bears team hasn’t struggled like this since Pete Newell or Kevin Johnson

photo from: californiagoldenblogs.com file: Justice Sueing is California’s leading scorer, averaging 17 points per game

On the Cal Bears podcast with Morris and Michael:

Michael says he doesn’t remember Cal basketball struggling like this since the Pete Newell team 1954-55 when they went 1-11 and Morris doesn’t remember the team struggling this bad since the Dick Kuchen years from 1978 to 1985.

When you look at it for a team that’s won one conference title in forever, but they have made some regular NCAA appearances and they’ve had some success developing some NBA players. This is not a program that’s been left up to success. Former Cal player Tyrone Wallace played the other night against the Warriors in Los Angeles for the Clippers.

This year, for the Bears, there hasn’t been that much growth and development as the season goes along. Of course, the opponents get tougher and tougher as the season goes along too. It’s getting difficult to watch, it is part of the process that a lot of programs go through.

Cal Bears basketball podcast with Morris and Michael: Cal Bears has now lost 11 straight conference games and are 0-4 in the Pac-12 this season

On the Cal Bears basketball podcast with Morris and Michael:

The Cal Bears have not had a winning Pac-12 conference game this season. Now at 0-4 and the attendance at Haas Pavilion in Berkeley has been low with all the screaming Arizona Wildcats fans in attendance last Saturday. Also how Cal played on the hardwood in their 87-65 loss.

The one good thing is Cal plays Washington State next at Pullman on Tuesday night. Pullman is a tough place to get to and a tough place to get a win. Even when WSU is not playing well, they defend their home floor pretty well. This is not going to be a cake walk for Cal.

On the Cal Bears podcast with Morris:

#1 The Cal Bears (5-11) were no match for the Arizona Wildcats on Saturday night, getting whipped 87-65 at Haas Pavilion

#2 Arizona went eight minutes without a field goal, but Cal was still behind 14-10.

#3 The Bears just couldn’t get anything going shooting 34.5. Bears head coach Wyking Jones didn’t say much in the postgame presser about the offense

#4 Jones was focused on the defense trying to patch holes in the leaky boat as the Wildcats had an offensive free for all.

#5 Winless in the Pac-12 conference at 0-3, the Bears take on Washington State University on Thursday at 7 pm.

On the Cal Bears podcast with Morris:

#1 UCLA have been a force since new head coach Murray Bartow has taken over. What are some of the differences?

#2 How frustrating was it for cal head coach Wyking Jones to re-plan things against UCLA after the Bruins made the coaching change?

#3 UCLA dominated last Saturday in a 98-83 win at Pauley Pavilion with 53% shooting from the floor and posting a season-high in points.

#4 What was the reason coach Jones decided to bench the starters during Saturday’s game?

#5 Cal hosts ASU Wednesday night at Haas Pavilion. Can the Bears overcome UCLA and have a chance to defeat the Sun Devils?

Cal Bears basketball podcast with Morris Phillips: Cal loses to Seattle, so big preparations to take on USC on Thursday

On the Cal Bears basketball podcast with Morris:

#1 The Cal Bears had a 18-point deficit on Saturday against the Seattle Redhawks (12-3) and rallied, but just couldn’t get the win.

#2 It was stated for Cal, the loss marks one of the darkest days for the Bears. Why is that?

#3 Bears head coach Wyking Jones said that he has to do a better job preparing the team from now on. Morris works he tells us what steps Jones has to take to get ready for a game.

#4 Seattle helped top the Bears with Morgan Means’ 24 points and Myles Carter’s 26 points. Once you have two players shooting in the 20s, that could do a lot of damage to your defense.

#5 The Bears host the UCLA Bruins for a Thursday night thriller to open the Pac 12

Cal Bears podcast with Morris Phillips and Michael Duca: 18-point rally not enough to catch red-hot Redhawks in Cal’s latest loss

calbears.com photo: The Cal Bears guard Paris Austin (3) takes a drive against the Seattle Redhawks guard Terrell Brown (23) at Haas Pavilion in Berkeley on Saturday night

On the Cal podcast with Morris and Michael:

The Bears (5-7) fell behind by as many as 18 points in the first half, only to rally, but ultimately lose to Seattle, 82-73 at Haas Pavilion. The loss concluded Cal’s non-conference schedule without providing much belief that they can right the ship with Pac-12 play next up beginning Thursday at UCLA.

Coach Wyking Jones surely didn’t get any assurances from his team that they’ll be engaged come Thursday, not after they led 2-0 Saturday, only to fall behind 21-4 with 12:11 remaining before halftime. The Redhawks with the win notched their win loss record to 12-3.

bearinsider.com photo: Darius McNeil of the Cal Bears brings the ball up court against the San Jose State Spartans last Friday night at Haas Pavilion in a eight point win for Cal

On the Cal Bears podcast with Morris:

#1 Cal (5-6) got a 88-80 eight-point win over the visiting San Jose Spartans (3-8) on Friday night at Haas Pavilion. Is this a measuring stick for both teams that they’re rebuilding and both have improved?

#2 The Bears’ Darius McNeil led with 22 points. It was his season-high. Morris talks about the kind of season that he’s having.

#3 Andre Kelly finished second in scoring with 21 points and 10 assists. Morris talks about his efforts this season.

#4 The Bears certainly didn’t want to lose again after coming off a loss to Fresno State 95-73 (9-2) and the Spartans were coming off a loss to Stanford (6-5) 78-73.

#5 Cal’s next game is at Haas Pavilion against the Seattle Redhawks (11-3) in Berkeley at 5 pm on December 29th. Morris tells us a little of this up and coming game.

calbears.com photo: The Cal Bears Darius McNiel (1) led Cal in scoring with 22 points against the San Jose State Spartans at Haas Pavilion Friday night in Berkeley

On the Cal Bears basketball podcast with Michael and Morris:

In a Christmas-break clash between two local rebuilding programs, the California Golden Bears and San Jose State Spartans met at Haas Pavilion Friday evening in front of a small but enthusiastic crowd. Cal prevailed, 88-80. Darius McNeil (season-high 22 points) and Andre Kelly (21 points and 10 rebounds, both career highs) led Cal, while Oumar Barry had a career-high 18 points, one of four Spartans in double figures.
