San Jose Barracuda podcast Madison Montez:

#1 Madison, in Sunday’s first period between the Bakersfield Condors and San Jose Barracuda both goaltenders proved their worth with a 0-0 score. For the Condors they took 11 shots but the Barracuda goaltender Jakub Sharek stopped all shots and the Barracuda had six first period shots that all were stopped by Condors goaltender Nathanial Day.

#2 It was the second period that the Barracuda got on the board getting two goals one from Oliver Wahlstron at 16:06 for a 1-0 San Jose lead. The Condors tied things up at 16:39 with a goal by Matvey Petrov for a 1-1 tie.

#3 Later in the second period at 19:35 the Barracuda Kasper Halttunen scored to take a 2-1 lead with assists from Igor Chernyshov and John Gormley. The Barracuda never looked back.

#4 The Barracuda in the third period got an empty netter from Samuel Laberge for his first goal of the pre season and the 3-1 win. Sharek shut the Condors out in the third period stopping nine shots.

#5 Sat Oct 11th the Condors are back to face off with the Barracuda for opening day a 3:00pm puck drop. These two teams should be very familiar with each other how do you see this one getting underway to start the 2025-26 season?

Barracuda win both preseason games against Condors; SJ defeats Bakersfield 3-1 Sunday

SAN JOSE–With three minutes to go in the second period, San Jose got on the board, courtesy of Oliver Wahlstrom. Filip Bystedt and Braden Hache with the primary and secondary assists. Bakersfield quickly got it back and tied the game 33 seconds later.

Matvey Petrov with the goal, unassisted. With less than a minute left, San Jose regained their lead after Kasper Halttunen scored his first of the preseason, Igor Chernysov with the primary and John Gormley with the secondary. Samuel Laberge sealed the 3-1 win with an empty net goal with five seconds left.

San Jose dominated the shooting percentage shooting _ more shots than Bakersfield. After the first period, San Jose outshot Bakersfield 11 to 6. After the second period, San Jose outshot Bakersfield 23 to 4. After the third, San Jose outshot Bakersfield 11 to 4.

San Jose got the first chance to show off their powerplay with Bakersfield going to the penalty box first. Bakersfield’s 88 Austin Magera caused them to go down a man due to a two minute minor for Hooking. Unfortunately, San Jose was unable to capitalize. There was four-on-four action when Anthony Vincent of the Barracuda and Luke Prokop of the Condors both went to the box for two minutes.

For Bakersfield, Nathanial Day got the start. Day made 11 saves on 11 shots. For San Jose, Jakub Skarek got the start. Skarek made 13 saves on 14 shots. Jonsson made 14 saves on 16 shots. Halfway through the second period, Bakersfield switched things up and Samuel Jonsson was put in after Day sustained a leg injury.

The Barracuda will be back in action on Saturday October 11th for their season and home opener. They will open the season facing this same Bakersfield Condors team. In the two previous games between these teams, San Jose won both.

San Jose Barracuda podcast Marko Ukalovic:

#1 The San Jose Barracuda scored three special team goals in a 6-3 route of the Bakersfield Condors on Sunday afternoon at Tech CU Arena.

#2 San Jose swept the weekend home-and-home series and has won three games in a row. Bakersfield has lost three games in a row. 

#3 The Barracuda moved up to fifth place in the Pacific Division one point ahead of the Calgary Wranglers with 72 points.

#4 Marko, the Barracuda got defense and offense in this one on Sunday. On the defensive side they held the Condors to only one goal in the first period and allowed two in the second and on offense the Barracuda scored twice in the second period and three times in the third period to put it away with a three goal win.

#5 The Barracuda travel to San Diego for a Wednesday night game and a 7:00pm PDT face off. The Gulls are in last in the Pacific Division and have lost five of their last ten games. The Barracuda are sixth and have won six of their last ten games. Set this one up for us.

Barracuda win 8-6, Poturalski hat trick

BAKERSFIELD–After a failure to make the glove save by Aaron Dell, the Condors struck first, three minutes in. Connor Carrick scored his second of the season as the San Jose Barracuda defeated the Condors 8-6 at Dignity Health Arena.

The start of the first period was all Bakersfield, scoring three goals in the span of four minutes. Bakersfield is currently in eighth place in the standings of the Pacific Division, chasing a playoff spot.

San Jose cut into that lead when Braden Hache scored his second of the season and Walker Duehr scored his 14th of the season. Donavan Houle and Thomas Bordeleau registered the assists on both goals, recording two points in the first period alone.

San Jose didn’t back down without a fight. Guschin tied the game up in the second period scoring two goals in the span of 27 seconds. 52 seconds later, Ethan Cardwell gave San Jose their first lead of the game.

Two power-play goals and one regular goal by Andrew Poturalski in the third, gave San Jose the win.

Guschin was the standout player for the Barracuda, registering four points. two goals and two assists.

Aaron Dell was the starting goalie, making 33 saves on 39 shots. Carriere will get the start tomorrow.

Bakersfield is now on a one game winning streak. San Jose is now on a two game winning streak.

#1 The Coachello Valley Firebirds had a game plan and executed it well against the San Jose Barracuda on Sunday at Thousand Palms with a 5-3 win. The Firebirds scored twice in the first and second periods the Birds had a 4-2 advantage heading into the third period.

#2 Taking a review of Sunday’s scorers for the Firebirds first period Jani Nyman scored an unassisted goal at 48 seconds and Gustav Olofsson scored at 5:41. Barracuda answered right back with a goal from Danil Gushchin at 16:44 cutting Coachella’s lead to 2-1.

#3 Jagger Firkus scored the first goal of the second period at 7:42 and Ben Myers scored at 15:33 to help the Firebirds take a 4-1 lead. The Barracuda’s Andrew Poturalski scored his 21st goal of the season and cut the Firebirds lead to two goals 4-2.

#4 The Barracuda made a valent effort when Colin White scored at 19:14 to get San Jose within one goal making it 4-3. The Firebirds would add the last goal of the game coming away with a two goal 5-3 win when Logan Morrison scored at 19:58.

#5 Next up for the Barracuda the Bakersfield Condors on Wed Feb 26 a 7:00pm face off at Tech CU in San Jose. The Barracuda came away with a 5-4 win over the Condors in their last meeting Sat Feb 15th. How do you see this match up on Wednesday night.

Barracuda fall 5-3 to Firebirds, snapping a season-long win streak

Coming into Saturday’s game, the San Jose Barracuda were looking to extend their winning streak to two games but just didn’t quite make it losing to the Coachella Firebirds 5-3 . The last time these two teams faced off was a month ago on January 22nd where the Barracuda won at home in a shootout. San Jose were looking to continue their win streak against Coachella for the season but fell short.

Coachella got started early, scoring 48 seconds into the game. Jani Nyman scoring his 23rd goal of the season. They extended their lead to two when Gustav Olofsson scoring his second goal of the season. Ville Ottavainen and David Goyette registering the assists.

San Jose cut into Coachella’s lead with Danil Guschin scoring his 15th goal of the season. Pavol Regenda and Colin White registering the assists.

Three seconds after San Jose killed a penalty, Coachella extended their lead again at 7:42 of the second. Jagger Firkus scoring his 11th of the season, John Hayden and Eduard Sale registering the assists. Firebirds made it 4-1 when Ben Meyers scored his 19th of the season. David Goyette and Nikolas Brouillard registering the assists.

The former FireBird cut the lead in half when Andrew Poturalski scored his 21st goal of the season. Lucas Carlsson and Ethan Cardwell registering the assists.

San Jose didn’t back down without a fight, scoring with 46 seconds left in the game. Colin White scoring his 8th goal of the season. Luca Cagnoni and Pavol Regenda registering the assists.

Logan Morrrison sealed the win scoring his 11th goal of the season with two seconds left. Ben Myers registering the lone assist.

#1 The San Jose Barracuda earned a point in their overtime loss to the Bakersfield Condors 5-4 at Mechanics Bank in Bakersfield on Saturday night.

#2 The Barracuda Brandon Coe scored his second goal of the season at 18:32 with assists from Joey Keane and Thomas Bordeleau to take a 1-0 lead.

#3 All the scoring took place in the second period with the Condors Jayden Grubbe scoring at 3:45, the Barracuda would answer back with three goals from Anthony Vincent at 11:02, Scott Sabourin at 11:44, and Ethan Cardwell at 16:20. with the score 3-2 the Condors would make it 4-2 when Conner Carrick at 19:25 scored.

#1 What was impressive about Sunday’s 4-3 win for the San Jose Barracuda over the Colorado Eagles was they were able to score three unanswered goals to open up the game for a 3-0 lead?

#2 Marko, reviewing the three players who scored for the Barracuda in that first period Justin Bailey goal number six of the season at 8:30, Lucas Vanroboys scoring his eighth goal of the season at 11:37, and Thomas Bordeleau scored his seventh at 12:47 for a 3-0 lead.

#4 Marko talk about the third period a little both the Eagles and Barracuda couldn’t score and the Barracuda wound up with the one goal win 4-3. Barracuda goaltender Georgie Romanov allowed three goals saving 36 and Eagles goaltender Kevin Mandolese allowed four goals and saved 35.

#1 Marko tough loss for the San Jose Barracuda on Saturday a 6-2 drubbing by the Bakersfield Condors at Mechanics Bank Arena in Bakersfield.

#2 The Condors came right out of the gate scoring two goals starting with Cam Dineen scoring his second goal of the season at 9:28 followed up by Matthew Savoie scored his seventh goal of the season at 15:40 in the first period it was quickly 2-0 Condors.

#3 In the second period the Condors Matthew Petrov scored his eighth goal of the season at 10:00 and Ronnie Attard scored his first goal of the season at 10:41. The Barracuda picked up their first goal at 12:18 when Filip Bystedt scored.
