Canucks comeback, Barracuda fall 5-4 in OT

The Barracuda will be looking to sweep the Canucks to start off their 4 game road-trip.

San Jose continued their scoring spree early at 7:21 of the first when Jimmy Schuldt scored in his first game back. Schuldt with his 5th of the season, Andrew Poturalski and Thomas Bordeleau registering the assists. Previous to today’s game, Schuldt was called up to the Sharks due to major injuries effecting the big club.

On their first powerplay opportunity of the game, Pavol Regenda took advantage and cashed in his 3rd power-play goal of the season. Danil Guschin and Rem Pitlick registering the assists.

Abbotsford cut into San Jose’s lead at 1:19 of the second with Max Sasson scoring his 1st short-handed goal of the season. Linus Karlsson registering the lone assist.

San Jose extended their lead at 5:27 when Colin White scored his 9th goal of the season. Walker Duehr and Pavol Regenda registering the assists. Regenda with his second point of the night.

On Abbotsford’s first powerplay opportunity, Danila Klimovich scored his 8th power-play goal of the season. Linus Karlsson and Sammy Blais registering the assists.

On a bad change by the Barracuda, Tristen Nielsen scored his 9th goal of the season to tie the game at 3. Christian Wolanin registering the lone assist.

After a goalie delay of game penalty, the Barracuda were given their 5th power-play goal. Colin White took advantage scoring his 2nd of the night and 1st power-play goal of the season. Thomas Bordeleau and Walker Duehr registering the assists. With his 2nd of the night, White gave San Jose the lead once again.

With three minutes left, Linus Karlsson tied the game and sent it into overtime. Arshdeep Bains and Max Sasson registering the assists.

At 3:09, Linus Karlsson who sent the game into overtime, wins it for Abbotsford.

The Barracuda will be back in action next Saturday on March 15th for the only away series against Tucson this season. The last time these two teams faced off was on Saturday February 8th when the Barracuda split the series in a 5-3 win.

Barracuda shutout Canucks 3-0, 2nd period frenzy

Prior to Friday’s game, it was announced that a trade occurred. The San Jose Barracuda lost one of their longest players, Tristen Robins.

Robins was apart of a trade that sent him, the San Jose Sharks Fabian Zetterlund, and a 2025 fourth round pick to the Ottawa Senators. In exchange, San Jose received forward Noah Gregor, forward Zack Ostapchuk and a 2025 second round pick.

On the ice the Barracuda shutout the Abbottsford Canucks in Abbottsford 3-0. Barracuda goalie Gabriel Carriere stopped all 35 Canucks shots for the shutout.

San Jose opened up the scoring at 4:16 of the second when Thomas Bordeleau scored his fourth power play goal of the season. Lucas Carlsson and Ethan Cardwell registering the assists. At 8:30, San Jose struck again with Danil Guschin scoring his ninth power play goal of the season. Luca Cagnoni and Rem Pitlick registering the assists.

Three minutes later, Walker Duehr scored his second goal in his second game, unassisted to seal the win. Duehr is only in his second game with the Barracuda and has shown what he can bring to the table.

Earlier Friday, Gabriel Carriere signed a two-way NHL contract and on that same day, he recorded his first shutout in the American Hockey League. It was announced that Georgi Romanov will not be available for AHL playoffs since he is currently on the Sharks roster. This means that Carriere is set to be the backup of Yaroslav Askarov when playoffs roll around.

#1 Marko if you like lots of scoring Sunday’s Henderson Silver Knights and San Jose Barracuda game was your kind of game ending with a 6-5 Barracuda win in overtime at Tech CU in San Jose.

#2 Scoring in the first period the Barracuda scored the first two goals with Lucas Carlsson and Andrew Poturalski the Knights Alexander Holtz scored making it 2-1 Cuda after the first period.

#3 The Barracuda Danil Gushchin scored San Jose’s only goal in the second period. The Knights answered back with two goals from Holtz with his second and third goals of the game for a 3-3 tie after two periods.

#4 The third period you can’t keep a good man down Holtz scored his four goal of the game to start the period Henderson taking the lead 4-3. The Knights Kai Uchacz scored an insurance goal putting the Knights up 5-3. The Barracuda would rally with three unanswered goals to win it 6-3. Gushchin Scored two goals in the third period to force overtime at 5-5. In overtime the Barracuda Ethan Cardwell scored the game winner.

#5 Next up for San Jose the San Diego Gulls at Tech CU on Wednesday night a 7:00pm PT face off. The Gulls are ninth in the Pacific Division winning seven of their last ten games. #1 The Coachello Valley Firebirds had a game plan and executed it well against the San Jose Barracuda on Sunday at Thousand Palms with a 5-3 win. The Firebirds scored twice in the first and second periods the Birds had a 4-2 advantage heading into the third period.

#2 Taking a review of Sunday’s scorers for the Firebirds first period Jani Nyman scored an unassisted goal at 48 seconds and Gustav Olofsson scored at 5:41. Barracuda answered right back with a goal from Danil Gushchin at 16:44 cutting Coachella’s lead to 2-1.

#3 Jagger Firkus scored the first goal of the second period at 7:42 and Ben Myers scored at 15:33 to help the Firebirds take a 4-1 lead. The Barracuda’s Andrew Poturalski scored his 21st goal of the season and cut the Firebirds lead to two goals 4-2.

#4 The Barracuda made a valent effort when Colin White scored at 19:14 to get San Jose within one goal making it 4-3. The Firebirds would add the last goal of the game coming away with a two goal 5-3 win when Logan Morrison scored at 19:58.

Barracuda fall 5-3 to Firebirds, snapping a season-long win streak

Coming into Saturday’s game, the San Jose Barracuda were looking to extend their winning streak to two games but just didn’t quite make it losing to the Coachella Firebirds 5-3 . The last time these two teams faced off was a month ago on January 22nd where the Barracuda won at home in a shootout. San Jose were looking to continue their win streak against Coachella for the season but fell short.

Coachella got started early, scoring 48 seconds into the game. Jani Nyman scoring his 23rd goal of the season. They extended their lead to two when Gustav Olofsson scoring his second goal of the season. Ville Ottavainen and David Goyette registering the assists.

San Jose cut into Coachella’s lead with Danil Guschin scoring his 15th goal of the season. Pavol Regenda and Colin White registering the assists.

Three seconds after San Jose killed a penalty, Coachella extended their lead again at 7:42 of the second. Jagger Firkus scoring his 11th of the season, John Hayden and Eduard Sale registering the assists. Firebirds made it 4-1 when Ben Meyers scored his 19th of the season. David Goyette and Nikolas Brouillard registering the assists.

The former FireBird cut the lead in half when Andrew Poturalski scored his 21st goal of the season. Lucas Carlsson and Ethan Cardwell registering the assists.

San Jose didn’t back down without a fight, scoring with 46 seconds left in the game. Colin White scoring his 8th goal of the season. Luca Cagnoni and Pavol Regenda registering the assists.

Logan Morrrison sealed the win scoring his 11th goal of the season with two seconds left. Ben Myers registering the lone assist.

Barracuda snap Reign’s 4 game win streak, winning 3-1

San Jose got back in the win column following a 2 game losing streak, dropping games against San Diego and Ontario on Saturday with a 3-1 win at Pechanga Arena in San Diego. In Wednesday’s game, the Barracuda erased a three goal deficit in the third period only to lose 6-4. For Saturday’s game, head coach John McCarthy’s key to the game was to “lock in right away.”

After a quiet first period, San Jose opened up the scoring at 4:45 of the second. After a board battle at the blue line won by Andrew Poturalski, Thomas Bordeleau scoring his 11th of the season. Poturalski and Ethan Cardwell registering the assists.

Picking up his own rebound, Ethan Cardwell scored his seventh goal of the season to extend San Jose’s lead to 2.

As the result of forcing a turnover, Mitchell Russell scored his first goal of the season, Rem Pitlick registering the assists. Russell with his second in his AHL career, spending most of the season with the ECHL affiliate the Wichita Thunder.

With under 30 seconds left in the game, Ontario avoids the shutout. Martim Chromiak scoring his 5th PPG of the season. Reily Walsh and Charles Hudon registering the assists.

#1 Former San Jose Barracuda (25-17-2-3) and San Jose Sharks forward Justin Bailey scored twice on Sunday night at Pechanga Arena. Bailey helped the San Diego Gulls with a 4-3 over the Barracuda on Sunday night.

# 2 The Barracuda dropped their the last game of their four game road trip going 1-3. The Barracuda lost this one after coming out of the gate with a 2-1 lead only to allow two goals in the third period. Are the Cuda having trouble holding onto leads after taking early leads?

#3 The Barracuda started things off in the first period with goals from Scott Sabourin and Thomas Bordeleau. The Gulls got a goal from Roland McKeown. It was 2-1 Cuda after one period.

#4 The Gulls scored the second period’s only goal at 16:15 when Bailey scored the first of his two goals. In the third period Bailey struck again at 3:56 as the Gulls took a 3-2 lead. The Gulls put the icing on the cake when Nathan Gaucher scored at 19:58 for the 4-2 win.

#5 The Barracuda have lost three of their last four games and after losing that last game in San Diego Sunday and are hoping to turn things around against the Gulls on Wed Feb 19 for a two game series against the Ontario Reign a 6:00pm PST face off at Tech CU. The Reign are second in the AHL Pacific Division and have won eight of their last ten games.

Barracuda drop last game of road trip 4-2 against San Diego

Coming into Sunday’s game the San Diego Gulls made a come back on the San Jose Barracuda after being down in the first period 2-1. San Diego scored two third period goals for a 4-2 win. The last time these two teams faced off was on New Year’s day when Lucas Carlsson scored the OT winner.

San Jose kept their scoring first agenda with Scott Sabourin scoring his sixth of the season at 4:20 of the first. Sabourin picking up Filip Bystedt’s rebound off San Jose’s second shot of the game. Pavol Regenda registering the secondary assist in his return back to San Diego. After a redirection shot, Roland McKeown scores his 9th of the season to tie the game at 1-1. Dilon Heatherington and Ryan Carpenter registering the assists.

A quick response by Thomas Bordeleau, San Jose got back in front at 14:05 of the first. Bordeleau with his tenth goal of the season after sitting out yesterday’s game due to a suspension. Collin Graf registering the main assist and Andrew Poturalski registering the secondary assist.

On their 4th powerplay opportunity of the game, Justin Bailey ties the game at 2-2 at 16:15 of the second. Justin Bailey with his third power play goal of the season against his former team. Sam Colangelo and Ryan Carpenter registering the assists.

San Diego got their first lead of the game at 3:56 of the third. After a Pavol Regenda tripping penalty, Justin Bailey scored his fourth power play goal of the season, and second of the game. Ryan Carpenter and Tristan Luneau registering the assists.

Nathan Gaucher secured the win for San Diego with two seconds left in the game. Gaucher with his sixth goal of the season. Sam Colangelo and Oscar Dansk registering the assists.

Barracuda snap 2 game losing streak, Poturalski scores game winning goal defeat Condors 4-3

Coming into Saturday’s game, the San Jose Barracuda were looking to come back after coming off of a sweep against the Colorado Eagles last Tuesday and Wednesday. The last time the Barracuda and Bakersfield Condors faced off was at home on Saturday December 21st where they fell 4-2, being swept. The Barracuda on Saturday were edged by the Condors 4-3 at Mechanics Bank Arena.

San Jose got on the board first scoring their sixth 4 on 3 goal of the season. After attacking the zone, Danil Guschin scored his 13th goal of the season. Filip Bystedt and Luca Cagnoni registering the assists. A minute and ten seconds later, Bakersfield answered back, tying it at 1-1. Connor Carrick scoring his first power play goal of the season, Seth Griffith and Matthew Savoie registering the assists.

Starting the second period with a two minute powerplay, Luca Cagnoni scored his eighth power play goal of the season. Andrew Poturalski and Danil Guschin registering the assists. 22 seconds later, Bakersfield answered back again, Phil Kemp scoring his sixth of the season. Josh Brown and Drake Caggiula registering the assists.

San Jose got their third lead of the game with less than a minute left in the second. Scott Sabourin attacking and shooting at the net, Anthony Vincent scored his eighth of the season. Sabourin registering the primary assist, Lucas Vanroboys registering the secondary assist.

The Condors were not backing down without a fight. Matthew Savoie tied the game scoring his 13th goal of the season. Connor Carrick registering the lone assist, his second point of the night.

In his first game back since the AHL All-Star challenge and being up with the Sharks, Andrew Poturalski gave the Barracuda their fourth lead of the season. With the primary assist, Rem Pitlick registered his first point of the season, Graf with the secondary assist.

Barracuda swept by Eagles getting outscored 11-5

San Jose Barracuda didn’t get back into the win column on Wednesday night getting drubbed 11-5 by the Colorado Eagles. The Barracuda also lost on Tuesday night 6-3 loss against Colorado to get swept in two games. For San Jose, Tuesday’s standout player was Thomas Bordeleau who registered a goal and had two assists. For Colorado, their standout player was Jacob MacDonald who registered a hat trick.

Colorado got out to an early lead scoring on their first powerplay opportunity of the game. Jere Innala scoring his fourth power play goal of the season, T.J Tynan and Jake Wise registering the assists.

The Eagles were then given a five minute power-play opportunity when Thomas Bordeleau took a five minute cross-checking penalty. three minutes in, Jacob MacDonald netted his fourth goal of the weekend and his 11th PPG of the season. T.J Tynan and Jake Wise registering the assists again.

San Jose cut into Colorado’s lead when Colin White scored an unassisted goal at 6:47 of the second. His seventh goal of the season.

Colorado answered back and extended their lead three minutes after San Jose scored. Jere Innala with his 9th of the season, second of the night. Mark Senden registering the lone assist.

After two separate Eagles took two minute penalties that gave San Jose a two man advantage, they scored their first power play goal of the game. Filip Bystedt with his first power play goal of the season. Luca Cagnoni and Colin White registering the assists, White with his second point of the night.

Colorado went back on the powerplay after Anthony Vincent took a two minute roughing penalty. A minute and 13 seconds in, Jere Innala completed the hat trick scoring his third of the night, tenth of the season. Jake Wise and T.J Tynan registering the assists. Wise and Tynan assisted on all three of Colorado’s power play goals.

Halfway through the third, Oskar Olausson scored his ninth of the season assisted by Ivan Ivan to extend their lead to 5-2.
