Barracuda fall to Henderson Knights 4-1

SAN JOSE- On a lucky bounce, Henderson was the first to get on the board. Henderson’s Sloan Satvik got his fourth of the season to lead 1-0. Shorthanded, Henderson extended their lead to 2-0 after Dylan Coghlan scored his 11th of the season.

Avoiding the shutout, Mattias Havelid scored his third of the season. To make it 4-1, Silver Knight Tanner Laczynski scored his 14th of the season. Brandon Hickey, who was coming out of the penalty box, registered the lone assist. To cut the lead in half, Donavan Houle scored his second goal of the season.

After the first period, San Jose outshot Henderson 12-11. After the second period, San Jose outshot Henderson again, this time 11-8. After the third period, Henderson outshot San Jose 12-8. In total, Henderson outshot San Jose 31 to 30.

Both teams went to the penalty box during Saturday night’s game. Henderson, who scored a shorthanded goal, came into Saturday night’s game seventh shorthanded and also seventh on the advantage. They had one opportunties on the powerplay and scored no times. For San Jose, who didn’t score any special teams goals, came into the game fifth shorthanded and first on the advantage. They had four opportunities on the powerplay and scored no times.

For San Jose, Gabriel Carriere was the starting goalie. Making 25 saves on 29 shots, Carriere recorded the loss. For Henderson, Carl Lindom was the starting goalie. Making 27 saves on 28 shots, Lindbom recorded the win.

Barracuda fall to Canucks 2-1

Abbotsford’s Danila Klimovich gave Abbotsford the early 1-0 lead, 4 minutes into the first period. Abbotsford extended their lead to 2-0 after Ty Mueller scored his ninth goal of the season in the second period. Avoiding the shutout, San Jose’s Igor Chernysov scored his thirteenth of the season to make it a 2-1 game.

After the first period, San Jose outshot Abbotsford Canucks eleven to eight. After the second period, San Jose outshot Abbotsford eleven to nine. After the third period, San Jose outshot Abbotsford eighteen to eight.

Both teams had a chance to show their special teams. San Jose had four opportunities and came into the game first on the powerplay and fifth on the penalty kill. Abbotsford had four opportunities and came into the game fourth on the powerplay and ninth on the penalty kill.

Making 39 saves on 40 shots, Tolopilo recorded the win.

The Barracuda will be back in action after the All Star Classic on Saturday February 14th where they will host the Henderson Silver Knights for a two game series on the 14th and 15th. The last time these two teams faced off was last season on Wednesday April 10th where they won 3-1.

Barracuda fall to FireBirds 4-3

Coachella Valley got an early 1-0 lead after Tyson Jugnauth scored his sixth of the season, 1 minute into the game. This would be the first of four goals scored by Coachella in the 4-3 game. Coachella added onto that lead, making it 2-0, Carson Rehkopf scoring his sixth of the season.

San Jose cut the lead into half to start the second period. Colin White scored his third powerplay goal of the season. Oliver Wahlstrom tied the game at 2-2 after the Firebirds lost and overturned the puck. Carson Rehkopf scored his second of the game to regain their lead to 3-2. To complete the hat trick, Carson Rehkopf scored his third of the season to extend their lead to 4-2.

Cutting the lead to 4-3, Cam Lund scored his sixth of the season with 5 minutes left in the game.

After the first period, San Jose outshot Coachella Valley eleven to seven. After the second period, San Jose outshot Coachella Valley eight to five. After the third period, San Jose outshot Coachella Valley ten to six.

Both teams had chances to show their special teams units. Coming into tonight’s game, San Jose was first on the powerplay and second to last on the penalty kill. For Coachella Valley, they came in 6th on the powerplay and fifth on the penalty kill. In tonight’s game, San Jose went 1/3 and Coachella went 0/2.

Laurent Broissiot got the start for San Jose and Victor Östman got the start for Coachella Valley. Making 14 saves on 18 shots, Broissiot recorded the loss. Making 26 saves on 29 shots, Osman recorded the win.

Barracuda win overtime thriller against Roadrunners 4-3

Tucson was the first on the board, the first of four goals in Saturday’s 4-3 overtime victory for the San Jose Barracuda over the Tucson Roadrunners. Noel Nordh scoring his third powerplay goal of the season, after Anthony Vincent took a two minute high stick penalty. T

o tie the game at one to one, Filip Bystedt scored his fifth powerplay goal of the season. Tucson quickly got their lead back, now 2-1 after Maveric Lamooureux scored two minutes after Bystedt did. Tying the game at two to two, Colin White scored his ninth of the season.

Beating Stauber through the five hole, Jimmy Huntington scored his sixth goal of the season to take a 3-2 lead, their first of the game. Dmtri Simashev scored his fifth of the season to tie the game at 3-3. With 28 seconds left in the overtime period, Egor Afanasyev was the hero, scoring his sixth goal of the season.

After the first period, although being down 1-0, San Jose outshot Tucson eleven to seven. After the second period, shots were even, seven by both teams. To end the game, San Jose outshot Tucson 40-22.

Both teams got a shot to show their special team units. For San Jose, they came into tonight’s game, second on the powerplay and second to las t on the penalty kill. They went 2 for 4. For Tucson, they came into tonight’s game, sixth on the powerplay and seventh on the penalty kill. They went 1 for 3.

Laurent Brossiot made his debut in a Barracuda sweater. Making 19 saves on 22 shots, he recorded his first win with San Jose. Jaxson Stauber got the start for Tucson. Making 36 saves on 40 shots, he recorded the loss.

Barracuda fall to Roadrunners 4-2 to start roadtrip

The San Jose Barracuda lost by a two goal margin to the Tucson Roadrunners at the Tucson Convention Center 4-2 on Friday night.

In the first period after a goal was overturned, the Roadrunners were the first to get on the board. Miko Matikka, who scored his third of the season, gave his team the first lead of the night. With three seconds left on their first powerplay opportunity, Kaper Halttunen scored his fourth powerplay goal to tie the game at one to one.

In second period action, Egor Afanasyev winning a puck battle in the offensive zone, set up Ethan Cardwell to help the Barracuda take their first lead of the game, two to one. Cardwell with his seventh of the season. Ricocheting off the shot by Cameron Hebig, Tucson tied the game at two to two in the second period.

In the third period the Roadrunners offense beating Carriere on the far side, Austin Poganski scored his ninth of the season to give Tucson the lead for the second time this game. Ben McCartney put the cherry on top, scoring an empty net goal with 1 minute and 30 seconds left.

After the first period of play, Tucson outshot San Jose 7-6. After the second period of play, San Jose took the lead and outshot Tucson 12-9. And to end the game, both teams shot an even nine shots.

Special Teams:

Both teams had early chances to show their special teams, San Jose taking advantage of their first powerplay opportunity. Coming into Friday night’s game, San Jose came in second on the powerplay and second to last on the penalty kill. For Tucson, they came into Friday night’s game, seventh on the powerplay and sixth on the penalty kill. San Jose went 1 for 4 while Tucson went 0 for 1.

Goalies:

For San Jose, Gabriel Carriere got the start and for Tucson, Matthew Villalta got the start. Making 21 saves on 24 shots, Carriere recorded the loss, his record now moves to 9-7-3-1. Making 25 saves on 27 shots Villalta recorded the, his record now moves to 12-5-0-1.

The Barracuda will be back in action Saturday, wrapping up a two game series against this Tucson team with a 7:00pm PT faceoff. The next time these two teams will face off is in March.
