From the beautiful and wonderful IL Fornaio Restaurant at 1265 Battery Street at Levis Plaza in downtown San Francisco Sportstalk thanks our hosts at IL Fornaio for their wonderful hospitality and food.

Some of Sportstalk’s favorites from the Lormbardia menu that we tried and highly recommend, Zuppa Lombardia Crimini: Champignon and Shiitake mushroom soup with garlic, sage, garbanzo beans, tomato and Yukon Gold potatoes. Crostini di Polenta:  Grilled polenta squares with assorted toppings mixed mushroom truffle oil; Italian sausage/pepperoncino sauce, grilled peppers, prosciutto; sautéed zucchini and Gorgonzola.

We also recommend some of the entree’s Salmoncino Franciacorta: Salmon filet sautéed with red grapes, shallots and Franciacorta sparkling wine; served with mache salad and roasted Yukon Gold potatoes. Brasato di Manzo con Polenta: Beef short ribs braised with tamato, root vegetables and herbs; served with soft polenta and sautéed broccolini.

Just to name a few try these favorite dishes of the Sportstalk team at IL Fornaio’s Lombardia menu.

On the Sportstalk headline circuit: San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Tomsula out who will 49ers CEO Jed York pick for his new head coach on the short list, Shawn Peyton, Mike Shanahan, Chip Kelly, and Tom Coughlin. Some of these coaches have already reached out to the 49ers administration expressing interest in joining the team, also the Warriors rack up another win on Monday night against the Charlotte Hornets like the late great NBA analyst Jeff Hall used to say regarding the Warriors “you could contain them but you can’t stop them.”

Our thanks to Matt and Brad Rocca proud owners of Original Joe’s Restaurant serving great Italian dishes since 1937 and on May 24th, 1956 opening up at 301 South First Street in downtown San Jose. Matt and Brad are proud to serve the Sportstalk broadcast team some of the journalists finest and favorite dishes.

Jerry and Amaury enjoyed Joe’s famous scallops sautéed in a butter sauce and wine wow what a taste. Jerry said it was the best scallops he’s tasted and they were to die for. Matt enjoyed Joe’s famous charbroiled hamburger. So good Matt wanted another one, and Jeremy Harness enjoy the 27 oz steak made from the Original Joe’s grill. The raviolis and pastas top the list of favorites too on the podcast.

On the show we covered the NHL headlines, the latest with the San Jose Sharks, the Warriors 18th straight win in Utah, the 49ers let another slip away last Sunday to Arizona, the Raiders need a few more players to make them potent, and our interview with our server at Original Joe’s Dan who described in detail what we were having and what recommendations to order at Joe’s.

The Lava Rock is a specialty with hot lava rocks you can actually cook your food on the rocks. A very popular item cook Filet Mignoni, New York Steak, Pork tenderloin, Ahi Tuna, shrimps and scallops, Asian chicken and lamb chops. Enjoy some of Hana Zen’s Special sushi rolls, rainbow roll, dragon roll, Tempura dynamite roll, caterpillar roll, Hana Zen roll, and the crunchy California. We were privileged to try some of these fantastic rolls and have the Lava Rocks. Our cast loved it you will too.

Sportstalk radio got to enjoy Tika Malsala chicken, Tandoori Chicken, some of the finest nan breads garlic and onion nan, fried chicken sticks and fried cheese sticks, the sauces were excellent condiments for the breads, chicken and cheese. Find out what your missing in fine Indian dinning cuisine. For desert take our word for it we enjoyed the Kulfi a saffron flavored ice cream with pistachios and Rasmalai sweet dumpling topped with saffron milk sauce. Jeremy Harness spared no deserts on this night.

Sports headlines covered: Mary Lisa says the Sharks are improved, Joe Lami and Len Shapiro say the team needs more work but likes the goaltenders of Martin Jones and Alex Stalock. Look for veteran skaters Joe Thornton, Patrick Marleau, and Joe Pavelski to name a few to crash the nets as the Sharks start a road this this week in Washington, New Jersey, NY Islanders, NY Rangers, before returning home on Thursday Oct 22.
