NHL Stanley Cup Finals Podcast with Len Shapiro: Sid the Kid set to amaze for Pens: Preds will use muscle without Johansen out with injury

fastsearchapps.com photo: 2017 Stanley Cup Finals logo sets sail tonight in Pittsburgh for game one

by Len Shapiro NHL staff reporter

With Nashville-Pittsburgh going tonight your going to have the two best teams in league who made it. The Penguins bring in experience after coming off last season’s finals when they defeated the San Jose Sharks for the Stanley Cup. They’re going for it again, the Pens have the home ice advantage coming in tonight at PPG Paints Arena. Sid Crosby shows he can score goals still after coming off a devastating concussion during post season it’s a question if the Pens can get it past Preds goalie Pekka Rinne one of the best goaltenders in the post season.

Rinne is having one of the best playoffs in a long time. The Predators are going to however suffer with the loss of Ryan Johansen pretty much their spark, Johansen is the key and this is a guy who your going to need in your line up during the post season that’s going to seriously hurt the Predators scoring. The The Preds are pretty strong on defense and that’s one thing they have going in against Pittsburgh tonight.

NHL Stanley Cup Playoff Podcast with Len Shapiro: Despite absence of Schultz and Letang Pens sail along with 7-0 shutout over Sens and looking to close series out in game six

AP File Photo: Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Kris Letang scores past St. Louis Blues goaltender Jake Allen during the second period of an NHL hockey game Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, in St. Louis. (Chris Lee/St. Louis Post-Dispatch via AP)

by Len Shapiro

The Pittsburgh Penguins have injuries with Justin Schultz and Kris Letang on defense yet they managed to score a 7-0 shutout. The defense is not what you call a starlight group of NHL defencemen. It only has Olli Maata, Scot Wilson, and Bryan Rust all these guys on the Pens rally around to make the Penguins a better team despite all the injuries.

You remember what happened to the San Jose Sharks last year in the NHL Finals? The Speed of the Penguins are amazing. So you look at the power plays of the games last night three out of  three for the Pens. On the penalty killing the Penguins own the Senators 0-29. That is just amazing considering the bulk of the Pens defense is out of action with Schultz and Letang.
