#1 Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love had surgery done on his left thumb to repair a ligament. Love is said to be ready for the season opener. Love tried to practice with the thumb Monday and work through the injury but it was decided that he needed the procedure.
#2 Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rogers said he did not like the fit of his helmet during practice saying the Schutt Air XP Pro VTD II helmet looks like a space ship out in practice. Rogers said the face mask needs to be change because it’s an old facemask. Rogers words as you can imagine matter as he’s asking for a new helmet saying it doesn’t pass the safety standard.
#3 Los Angeles Chargers running back Najee Harris ran drills for the first time in training camp. Harris had suffered a “superficial eye injury” during a July 4 fireworks mishap. The injury put Harris on the non football injury/inllness list. Harris’ agent said Doug Hendrickson said Harris should be back in time for the season.
#4 Former Las Vegas Raiders head coach Jon Gruden said that leaked emails by the NFL forced him to resign as the Raiders head coach in 2021. Gruden said the league’s decision disrupted the 2021 season. Gruden said emails were leaked showed that he made racial slurs. What went wrong for Gruden who said the emails were leaked to the press before before Gruden had signed a letter of resignation. “The league’s actions disrupted the whole season,” Gruden said. “We were leading the division at the time, and they completely blindsided me.”
#5 New York Jets quarterback quarterback Tyrod Taylor is undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery and will be out for the rest of the pre season according to Jets head coach Aaron Glenn. The Jets could not say when Taylor will be back from his knee surgery and will he be ready to start against the Pittsburgh Steelers for week 1.

#1 Dave the San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jordan Watkins is out for a month with a high ankle sprain. Watkins made a 50 yard catch during the 49ers first exhibition game against the Denver Broncos. Watkins played the first 39 snaps. He later complained of soreness in his ankle Sunday as the injury was being looked at.
#2 San Francisco 49ers Brandon Aiyuk is expected to return for week 6 due to a torn MCL and ACL in the right knee. Head coach Kyle Shanahan is having to deal with lots of wide receiver injuries.

#1 Jarrett Stidham threw for two touchdown passes after seeing Denver Bronco quarterbacks Bo Nix and Broncos starters struggle against the San Francisco 49ers defense. Stidham led the way in the pre season opener for a Bronco 30-9 win.
#2 The two teams worked out in a joint practice on Thursday as the starters from both teams got plenty of work in. The 49ers during the game played just a few starters and the Broncos used their starters for just a few series.

#1 How special has it got to be to have Las Vegas Raiders head coach Pete Carroll and quarterback Geno Smith return back to their old haunt in Seattle at Lumen Field.
#2 Carroll felt right at home while coaching the Raiders to a 23-23 tie. Carroll spoke to many Seattle Seahawks players before the game during warm ups.
#3 Carroll said of being able to play in Seattle for the first pre season game, “It was cool to be here. I loved it here,” Carroll said. “But it didn’t translate to something crazy for me. It was just an opportunity to play in a great setting. Thanks to the league for putting us in this game.”
#4 As far as the game was concerned Raiders starting quarterback Adrian O’Connell went 18-30 for 205 yards and one touchdown and two interceptions.
#5 Raiders next will host the San Francisco 49ers in pre season game #2 on Sat Aug 16th at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Talk about this match up it’s not a regular season game but the 49ers fans travel well so there should be lots of excitement for this one.
